    Lobster Risotto & Calamari
    Sage M.

I came here with friends on Saturday at 5 p.m. We had reservations, but honestly, you probably don't need them, there were plenty of open spaces. We were seated right away. The service was a highlight: the chef even came to our table and was so helpful! All the staff members were kind and attentive, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. For our appetizer, we ordered calamari. It was served in a flavorful sauce that paired perfectly with the complimentary bread. Unfortunately, our main course didn't live up to the hype. My friend had raved about the lobster risotto from her last visit, but she said it looked and tasted different this time around. We all weren't in love with our main course. It happened to be a birthday celebration, and they offered us a complimentary dessert. We chose the hazelnut gelato, which we all really enjoyed! Overall, the staff and atmosphere were wonderful. I only give it a lower star rating because we all weren't in love with our main course.

NOT Maine Lobster Risotto (this is spiny lobster)

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with one of our meals. First the positive, the charred salad and focaccia bread was delicious! Our waiter was very attentive. The gnocchi was excellent and I'd highly recommend. Where it went sideways is with the risotto. The menu says the risotto is "Maine lobster" and in fact what we were served was warm water spiny lobster. Completely different, that's like getting snow crab for king crab. I immediately showed the waiter and he told us he's seen the boxes that say "Maine lobster" on them, and that was about all he did. The manager didn't come bye, no apology, nothing done with our bill. I lived in both Portland Maine and the Caribbean, the shells are very distinct between the two lobster species. So, false advertising on the menu was extremely disappointing. If it wasn't for the Risotto it probably would have been 5 stars.

    Complimentary bread + chimichurri (?)

Cane here on a Friday night briefly after 9pm and seems they have happy hours till close. They have a bar/table section specifically for HHs that's apart from their normal tables, and the happy hours section is almost fully seated already! Served with their bread and chimichurri(?) sauce. I absolutely love their bread, different texture with some salt and herbs. I wish it was warm as these were served at room-temp cold already. Love the sauce that's served in their escargot dish, cooked simple yet beautifully. Their calamari alla livornese has amazing tomato sauce, bright salty and acidic enough from the olives. However, i believe they are served raw but lightly cooked from the heat of the sauce? That way you actually get to taste the sweet and freshness of the calamari! However, this section of the restaurant at night is really dark especially if you are seated at the tables. We can barely read the menu not to mention to see what we are eating. Which is why i had a lot of (?) based on what I can taste in texture and flavor than visually confirming it. Also, there was a party by the bar and there's a lady who was there before & entire time we were there and she was hella loud while talking to someone literally sitting right next to her. Otherwise, great place, decent service kinda romantic ambiance with the torch candle on each table.

Came in for a weekday dinner with a couple friends. We had a reservation so we were sat pretty quickly. We were greeted by our server quickly, gave us our table bread, asked for our drink order, and then kind of left us. We had to wait a little bit to actually order food but it wasn't terrible. For food, we ordered the vongole spaghetti, the bucatini in bolognese sauce, and the octopus appetizer. The octopus was delicious. Perfectly cooked, not too chewy, the mashed potatoes made a good vessel to eat with the sauce. My only qualm is not enough octopus. The vongole spaghetti was okay. The sauce was super light; there was some flavor but I would have preferred more. The clams were pretty good. The bucatini was the star for me. The sauce was meaty and rich, the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. I wasn't a huge fan of the service. The people clearing the tables cleared one of our plates while we were still eating, and I overall felt kinda rushed towards the end of our meal. We also weren't offered any dessert at the end. We didn't want any, but it still would've been nice to be asked. The server also asked if we were celebrating anything after we had paid like it was an afterthought. The place itself is cute. Tables are spaced pretty close together, and it can get a bit loud when it's busy, but the space feels cozy and not claustrophobic. All in all, okay place. I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could. Not great service, but really good octopus and bucatini haha

We had a great time at Barolo! The atmosphere was great, our serve was awesome! The food was great and the wait time wasn't bad at all! We did a surprise birthday for one of the people at the dinner and the staff was super accommodating. 10/10 would recommend!

Came for happy hour. Their deal is really amazing. The portions are also full sized! $27 select bottle of wines & 50% off bar food. Definitely get the escargot and carbonara.

Two for dinner on a Saturday night. We made a reservation in advance and arrived promptly. There was easy street parking. Once inside we were offered coat check and seated at quaint table/booth in the very rear of the restaurant near the bathroom. It was still a good table. Nick was our server for the night. He immediately went over specials with us. We ordered a special and the rest of the meal directly from the menu. We were offered sparkling and still water and provided focaccia with a delicious olive tapenade. The pasta fagoli was hearty and the insalatina mists was beautiful and delicious. The special which featured lamb and spinach gnocchi was wonderful and flavorful. We also had the lobster risotto with bay shrimp. The dinner was delicious and served promptly. Desert featured pistachio gelato which was also scrumptious. Topped off with a cappuccino. The meal was a great experience! Definitely treat yourself to this experience. Thank you for having us!

This was our most anticipated meal in Seattle, because of the lobster risotto we saw all over the Yelp page. So glad to report that the lobster risotto lived up to the expectations. The risotto was perfectly creamy & cheesy and the lobster was buttery & tender. The portion was pretty large for one person, but I was happy to have leftovers! We also ordered the tiramisu and it was decadent. The service was swift and attentive. The restaurant is dimly lit and very intimate. It's great for a special occasion, date night or just a nice "treat yourself" meal. I'd love to come back the next time I'm in the city!

I've always had a great dinner at Barolo! The most recent visit was for a work group dinner and we celebrated some birthdays. The lobster risotto was fantastic and there were generous portions of lobster and shrimp. Gorgeous plating too. I've had the carbonara and clam vongole pasta dishes before and they were both big tasty portions. They even helped us split two dishes to share. Service was great and attentive. It was kind of them to give out birthday desserts as well. Their gluten free chocolate tort and tiramisu were both divine.

We chose Barolo for our final evening in Seattle and it could not have been more perfect. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Our server Fabricio was absolutely spectacular, attentive without ever rushing us, and genuinely enthusiastic about every detail and checked in often enough to make us feel truly cared for. His service elevated the whole evening and turned it into something unforgettable. It was our first visit to Seattle and we wanted memorable Italian cuisine to close out the trip. Barolo delivered in every way exceptional food, exceptional wine, and service that set a new standard. We'll be recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting the city and can't wait to return the next time we're in town.

    Antipasto Misto

The atmospheres of the restaurant was stylish however the seating was very odd. We were sat on a corner booth where sitting across from each other was impossible. The mains were portioned well but rather salty. The antipasto platter was delicious though. Service was a bit awkward as well.

Spaghetti Spaghetti alla Carbonara e Zucchine and Tuna tartare, ginger and organic honey mlange
    Alexandra K.

Great service and fun vibes. Really tight bar seating but they had a happy hour! I didn't even realize they had happy hour on a Friday afternoon so this was a great surprise. The spaghetti carbonara was really yummy, a huge portion and cheap ($12ish?). The tuna tartare was AWESOME almost like a deconstructed poke. Def would get both of these again. Espresso martinis were $7 and strong but also really thick so if ur tummy is sensitive maybe opt for a different cocktail.

How do you spell rude? It's D-A-R-K-O. Our waiter was horrible! He was incredibly pushy and was rather upset that we didn't go with all of his recommendations. He kept insisting that we ordered 2 gnocchi and 2 spaghetti in clams (without the spaghetti because it's too much pasta!) to share. I had to argue with him that I particularly like the clam dish because of the pasta and he shrugged his shoulders and made some offensive remarks. We ended up ordering what I wanted, 1 gnocchi and 1 spaghetti with clams. Thank goodness we only ordered 1 gnocchi, it was awful! It was overcooked and really mushy and oily. The pesto sauce was the worst I've had! The flavor was bad and no one from our party of 7 liked it. The waiter was personally offended that we didn't like the gnocchi that he raved about. He said he liked his pasta extra soft. I had the chef's special, which was the halibut. The fish was tender but the dish itself wasn't memorable. I tried a piece of my friend's beef shank and it was really tough in texture and heavy in taste. The tiramisu dessert was good, but that's the best thing I can say about my experience here. I would not recommend this restaurant. If you happen to dine here anyway after reading my review, please do yourself a favor and ask not to have this particular waiter. The restaurant itself was really nice. I just think that if we had a different waiter, our experience would've been completely different.

She recommended a Mezcal cocktail that was a great start! Surprising because it wasn't smoky typical to Mezcal, just perfectly balanced. Exactly what I wanted. For my main, I went with the short rib pappardelle. It was incredibly rich, and the meat was cooked to perfection. Hailee was attentive and made me feel welcome at the table, which isn't always the case when you're a party of one. Incredible service and an all-around top-tier meal. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle!

The hostess walked us through the entire restaurant to the dark back wall, behind the bar. With tall bar chairs. Explained we didn't want that, she walked us back through the entire restaurant to a nice table up front by the windows. Tried a Malbec duo. One was delicious and didn't like the other at all; oddly tannic. The grilled mortadella should have been more grilled. Sitting in a generous portion of burratta-like cheese, olive oil and pistachio butter, it was delicious. But desperately needed some bread. How do eat this without any bread? Once the mortadella is gone, you are just eating spoonfuls of cheese, oil and butter? We hadn't seen our waitress since the app arrived. Having finished the mortadella we finally flagged down someone and asked if we could get a little bread. He said he would handle it right away. Another 10 minutes goes by and our waitress came by. Apologized for not being around and went to see about the bread. Finally got the bread, and it was delicious. But sooooo oily! Like a sponge it dozed oil every time I tried to break off a piece. Was dying to wash my hands. Our entrées were ok. The fried chicken with fusilli was pretty good, but difficult to eat in the deep bowl. Hard to cut. The crispy tofu wrap wasn't crispy and wasn't made well. I have absolutely no idea what flavor profile it was meant to be. Just muddy. I tried to eat the first half. It was stuffed so full it was impossible to eat. I took out more than half the filling before I could manage it. When I got to the second half I understood the issue. There was almost no crispy tofu, but lots of lettuce and other fillings. Maybe it would have eaten better if it had been constructed better. The fries were fine. Pleasant server, but perhaps had too many tables as we didn't get the service expected. It's been a long time since dining at the downtown Purple. Likely wouldn't go back.

Amazing wines, creative cocktails, solid snacks, great service and even games. You could wander in "for one flight" and somehow emerge six hours later wondering where the time went (in the best way.) On the wine side, they offer several thoughtfully curated flights, or you can build your own adventure. Which I highly recommend. The dessert wines alone are incredible, and the selection of aromatic whites is seriously impressive. No matter your palate, there's something here that will make you pause, sip again, and nod approvingly. And then there are the wine-based cocktails that deserve their own standing ovation. A wine tasting room doing cocktails this well is rare. We tried the Espresso Martini, the French 125, and the Lavender Lemon Martini, and every single one was better than I expected grape-based cocktails to be. Like, pleasantly shocked. Bottom line: if you're anywhere near Pike Place and enjoy wine (or cocktails, or fun, or all of the above) this place is a must. I can almost guarantee it'll become your new favorite spot.

This used to be one of my favorite spots at Pike Market. For years, I made it a tradition to bring out-of-town guests here. Over time, I have brought more than 100 people here. It had a charming, warm, and welcoming feel--like a hidden gem in the city. It oozed with kindness and fun. Unfortunately, that has completely flipped! Since the new manager, Anthony, took over, the entire atmosphere has shocked me. What was once inviting now is rigid, cold, and unwelcoming. The biggest issue, however, was the way I was treated. The interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, which was both surprising and disappointing given my long history with this place. Great establishments are built not just on food or ambiance, but on how people are treated--and that piece is clearly missing now. It's especially unfortunate because the rest of the team still shows glimpses of what this place used to be. Jordon, was genuinely kind and pleasant, but one positive interaction couldn't outweigh the manager's miserable attitude. It's hard to see a place that once felt so special lose its charm like this. I know the winemaker Paul is a great person - so it is hard to leave such a terrible review, but at the same time, if this was my place -- I would want to know what was happening behind the scenes at my establishment. I truly hope leadership reflects on how customer experience is being handled moving forward. Don't give money to places that have toxic attitudes and are joy crushers! Life is too short and far too precious! In the meantime, there are many nearby spots that consistently deliver both quality and incredible hospitality. Skip this place, and instead go to Browne Family Vineyards Tasting Room, The Lonely Siren, The Pink Door, Place Pigalle, or Maximilien. Those places are working very hard to create an exceptional experience!
