Asador is the Renaissance Hotel's restaurant, accessible through the main lobby. It's business casual dining and very convenient for those who stay at the hotel for leisure or for work. I visited Asador during a 2-day conference that I attended. Normally I'd avoid hotel restaurants (because they often prioritize convenience over food quality) but this one didn't disappoint too much. The service was slow when we went as there were very few waitors available that evening. The portions were very generous and the menu has several options that can accommodate picky eaters or people following a specific diet. I prioritized vegetarian dishes and was impressed by their roasted vegetable dishes. The harvest pasta was good, but it lacked identity. By that I mean that whoever devised this dish tried to add as many trendy and healthy ingredients to the mix as possible, without analyzing the final result too much. The question "what the heck am I even eating" crossed my mind as I chewed on this "original" recipe, wondering why I had been served what felt like a prototype... Another issue with the food is that while sampling several sides and appetizers, I noticed that most of them had a similar spice and taste profile. They all seemingly used the same ingredients. It's like if you ordered three sides and they all had the same sauce. The sauce might be good, but it gets a bit dull to be eating the same thing three times, doesn't it? So, whoever is in charge of the menu, the chef, needs to go back to the drawing board and reevaluate their dishes a bit, by trying to be more original. They would benefit from creating unique dishes that have identity, and notes that stand out. Right now nothing stands out. It's not bad, but it felt like it wasn't quite out of the brainstorming or testing stage. You know what I mean? Other than that, we had a good time. This is not a place that I would visit again unless I had to stay at the Renaissance Hotel for work again. I would still not tell someone to avoid it. It's there, it's convenient. First time here. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 12 PM for brunch for a double date. Parking is in the gated hotel parking which has a fee, but the front desk can validate the parking if you eat at the restaurant. It was empty when we arrived & we were seated immediately. Mimosa - Average taste. Good price. Smoked Salmon Bagel - HUGE salmon pieces. Bagel was nicely toasted - not too toasted, not too underdone; lovely flavor. Cream cheese was very addicting - mixed with herbs. Served with a side of sliced potatoes, pickled red onions, red cabbage, & tomatoes - all separated on the plate in piles, so you can add whatever you want or don't want. The portion was so big, I only ate half for brunch & had the rest for early dinner. I'd highly recommend this one. 44 Farms Brisket Burger - It was empty when we arrived, so we asked if they could make a burger which is normally on the lunch menu for brunch. Thankfully, the chef was nice enough to do so. Flavor was good. Pickles were excellent (even for someone who isn't a big fan of pickles...my husband still ate them all). They taste homemade, on the thinner firmer side with a mildly sweet flavor & lighter than typical tartness. Overall, service & food were excellent. We ordered a lot of his recommendations (unfortunately I can't remember his name), and I'm glad we did because everything was great. So. So. So. Disappointed in our experience tonight. I don't even know where to start. We were solely here because of Restaurant week and didn't realize it was a hotel restaurant when we originally booked our reservation. Once we found out I was a little hesitant but we went ahead anyways. We waited for five+ minutes at the host stand to be acknowledged and seated. Not because they were overwhelmingly busy, just seemed like everyone was operating on their own schedule and no one was truly a host. Then after being seated we waited for almost another twenty minutes to be acknowledged. Eventually Chris the bartender had to step in and cover for the server and get us started. I was actually in the process of grabbing my purse and getting up to leave when Chris walked up and apologized for the wait. He was so nice that we stayed- should have listened to our instincts on this one. The restaurant week menu was .. well, weak. I was thoroughly disappointed in the first course that was offered. So much so that we switched off that special menu into their full menu. I had to flag down the host to get the original menu and you would have thought my request was a chore. For our appetizer we had the charcuterie board. This was pretty okay- give it a 7/10. I would eat it again but I can't say it's memorable. Chris came in clutch offering to make us whatever drinks we wanted so we had some pretty good drinks to pair with our cheese. Our mains, my husband ordered the TX mushroom linguine and I ordered the ribeye, sides of Mac and cheese and fries. The "linguine" was actually pappardelle due to supply shortage, and came with mushrooms, chicken, a red sauce, and a white cheese of which we were 89% sure was mozzarella. Never in our lives have we had such a dry mozzarella. The chicken and the cheese together was so texturally unsatisfying that my husband barely finished half of his food. This was a $35 plate of pasta, and I found myself wishing we had just gone to the Olive Garden instead... My ribeye was awkwardly plated. On top of fingerling potatoes and a red sauce, so when you attempt to cut into it you're just kinda sliding around the plate. To actually cut into it I had to request a steak knife- again my request met with apathy. I ordered a medium rare and at best this was medium well. Unfortunately one of the most average steaks I've had in a very long time. The steak was so bad I didn't even want to take it home to give to my dogs. The Mac and cheese was extraordinarily bland. I wanted to coat it in salt and pepper but they don't have that on their table and our server never once came back to check on us for me to request it. Pretty sure it was supposed to go in the oven as the breadcrumbs on top were uncooked and soft. The French fries were really good. So if you're here for a burger and fries- I would bet you might leave happy. The service we received here was extremely disappointing. As a former server and bartender, I'm normally extremely patient. But this was a new level of poor service. For a $200 bill, I absolutely expected better. The only person who stood out here was Chris and I hope they keep him on to help train their future staff. This was such a negative experience I highly doubt we will ever come back. We didn't even get a water refill the entire two hours we were there. We requested a third round of bar drinks from the server upon the delivery of our food, which never seemed to make it into the POS system. So needless to say our mouths were pretty dry by the time we left. read more

This was my first time here on business, because my expo was located at the adjacent Dallas Market Hall, which was a short walk adjacent to the hotel. When I arrived I was recognized as a Lifetime Titanium Elite member. Because the Bonvoy lounge was closed over the weekend I was given a coupon good for the complimentary continental breakfasts at Asador valued at $16 during my stay here. The lounge closed Friday at noon and reopened again on Sunday at 5:30pm. Using my coupon here at Asador, I was able to upgrade to the full buffet breakfast or any full breakfast with a value of $22 for only an additional $5 plus taxes. My two full buffet breakfasts at the Asador Latin American restaurant were very nice. I enjoyed my cheddar cheese omelet on my first morning and my two eggs sunny side up, which were not overcooked for my second breakfast. Table service here was spectacular. I would definitely return here again for breakfast if and when the Bonvoy lounge is closed. read more

We had a breakfast and a late night meal and drinks during our stay in Dallas Tx. The breakfast buffet has your normal bacon, eggs, potatoes and sausage, along with smoked salmon and a charcuterie board with duck breast, salamis, and hams. The dinner menu has good mixture of Latin items along with standard hotel items of burgers and steaks. We ordered the following: Chips with guacamole and salsa. The chips were freshly made and the guacamole was good. Grilled veggie platter tiny portions squashes, cauliflower, carrots not worth ordering. We ordered it room service so I'm not sure if the same things happens when you sit there but we for the eggs , bacon and home fries . Which was great they even threw in a sausage link per order . The eggs were perfectly cooked , the bacon was just a tad over cooked but it's fine . The sausage was a traditional breakfast sausage that had a slight kick and the home fries were definitely my favorite. My only complaint is they only give you 1 slice of toast per orders which if I knew in advanced I would have asked for more but it's fine ... now let's move on to lunch . I ordered the brisket burger which was amazing, perfectly cooked and the bread bun they used was a great compliment to the burger , my only complaint was I read it came with a bacon jam but I didn't taste it at all . My husband got the turkey club with fresh avocado and he absolutely loved it . He said the turkey was juicy and tender and the freshness of the avocado was a perfect marriage of his meal . We also ordered and shared the truffle parmigiana fries . Holy moly when I tell you these things were addictive. They were so crispy and tasty we couldn't stop . Went for restaurant week. Here is my take. The appetizers on the price fix were the best of the meal. The sweet corn crab soup was a bit too sweet. The shrimp and grits had way too much sauce on it which killed the flavor of the shrimp or grits. The lemon tart should have been a deconstruction cause it was an overly sweet mess on a plate. Friends got the brownie and it was uncooked. Cocktails were ok. Service was pretty bad. We ran out of water. Fries were not delivered with one sandwich. We still got no water. We went nearly 15 minutes without any visit to our table. Now we made the best of it but it was a poor representation. The wait staff was dressed far to casual and looking unrepresentative of a restaurant of this type. I expect at something sort of fancy that staff should be dress slacks and collared shirts. The staff this night looked like pub staff and not hotel restaurant. So overall this was a disappointment. The ambiance is nice but the music was loud. So maybe they were having an off night. But it felt like the waiter oversold and overhyped items of his liking and I am not sure it was all that good. And grabbing that pot recks your brain as an excuse for forgetting us was not great. Asador needs to raise the bar. Get the staff more professional. Don't drown the food in sauces. And step up the overall service game and it could really be something. I am impressed with Asador. I have now been here twice, once for a large corporate dinner that I was hosting and again tonight for dinner at the bar. On both occasions, I received exceptional service... my server tonight was very knowledgeable and answered menu questions very quickly and competently. His suggestions were all spectacular and specific to my requests. I had a charcuterie and cheese board to start out with, complete with prosciutto, smoked duck breast and a specialty cheddar... all fantastically flavorful and complimentary of one another. For entre, I had the flat iron steak... cooked medium rare atop a mushroom potato base with a perfectly smoked flavor that was delicious. I enjoyed every bite. My night cap was a Woodford Old Fashioned... and it was prepared perfectly by a professional bartender. The orange peel and cherries were not muddled; rather, the orange was quickly flamed, then passed atop the glass, allowing for the bourbon to remain undisturbed while a citrus flavor was prevalent in every sip. We came to Dallas on a business trip and we thought we should try something close to the venue so we decided to give Asador a try. It has been a while since I have had great streak at a restaurant, and this was pretty amazing! The tenderloin was juicy and had a great charred flavor. The Jerk Chicken had a good kick to it, but I would have liked it a little more spicy which I feel would have contrasted better with the awesome sauce that came with it, but that's just my personal preference. The service was excellent, they were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to our party. We ordered a spicy margarita which they had ran out or the mix, so they just put in a couple of pepper in the margarita and DONE! Asador is a pretty legit restaurant located just outside of downtown Dallas inside of the Renaissance Hotel. This place has fantastic decor and is really setup nicely. The food here is portioned nicely, seasoned well and just plain out delicious. This is one of those places that you wouldn't expect to be as good as it is. Had the steak which was cooked nearly to perfection, potatoes were great and the Brussel sprouts were probably the best I've ever eaten. The only real knock on this place was the bartender, he was overly stressed out for no apparent reason and didn't really treat most of the customers with any sort of respect. I would say that he needs some additional training both behind the bar and when dealing with customers. Nevertheless, this place has excellent food and is worthy of a look, just be weary of the undertrained bartender... Asador is inside the Renaissance Hotel. It's a pretty mellow chill place to meet and reconnect. I had my semi reunion with a couple of friends here. It was a no rush kind of meeting. Muddled by frantic search for places and unreserved spots until we finally found this. The bar and the dining area is well attended. They cater to you and wants you to have a great time. No break in service at all. Seamless and amazing. My flat iron steak was perfect! Tender, tasty and the portion was great. It came with a side of potato encased in what looked like an onion? It's a spot if you're interested in actually talking to someone while dining. 4 star for the food. 5 stars for the burger, 2 - 3 stars for the service. Let me start off with the food. Highly recommend the Waygu burger. Might have been the best burger I've had. I swapped out the lemon aioli for the jalapeño aioli and boy you will not be disappointed. I came twice in a week to this hotel restaurant to eat the waygu burger. Again, delicious if you are a burger fan. The first time that I came to Asador it was basically our only option being the only restaurant in the Renaissance hotel. Glad they were able to accommodate a large group on short notice. One of the managers, Julie was very friendly also getting us 30 minutes earlier than a RSVP time. We ordered everything from the pears and brie, baby back rib tips, guac cheap (highly recommend) The mixed baby greens was literally greens seasoned lightly in a vinaigrette. It could some more color and love to the dish, quite frankly it was just a sad looking dish presentation wise. Also considering everything else was beautiful displayed, the baby greens could use an upgrade. We also shared the roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. We came here for Thanksgiving dinner a little while back and enjoyed our trip here. The hotel was great, decent service, and the food was amazing. The only two things I didn't like were the lack of vegetarian options (don't worry, they did customize a menu for us, but having soup and salad as your entrees doesn't seem like it should count does it?) and that our server seemed a little frazzled. Poor girl, she probably was working so many shifts with tons of other customers on her mind. The restaurant did seem a little understaffed. The food was phenomenal. They did a tasting menu - an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert for $50. I had a panzanella salad for my starter - squash, figs, watermelon radish, on a bed of greens. Absolutely delicious. I really haven't had as complex of a salad before and I would love to have this again soon. I had seared scallops on a bed of carrot puree for the entree. Amazing - I really loved the addition of pomegranate seeds to the scallops. Interesting addition of texture and citrus. The dessert had something lacking - a pecan tart was a little overly sweet. I ordered the waygu cheese burger was more then made up for the lack of steak on the menu. The DR Pepper brined wings were pretty good. Nice and as expected for a higher end hotel restaurant - but I can't help but feel an opportunity was missed in burying the restaurant in the middle of the building - not a single window in the space - and just adds a somber mood to the place. Food was all perfectly fine - but nothing jumped out as to us as outstanding. It's a bit of a mixed menu to try and appeal to wide crowd - but certainly enough of a selection to please a group. I feel badly criticizing service during Covid times - but as things seem to returning to somewhat normal - it seems they are not a well oiled machine. One poor bartended was tasked with a lot to manage (everyone seated at bar and taking care of room service to-go stuff), and despite asking for appetizers to come out first - we were presented with every dish in one fell swoop. That aside the staff was friendly and professional. I just returned from a 2 night stay at The Renaissance Hotel in Dallas. Our group congregated at the Asador for food and drinks. Our waiter, Matthew, made the evening fantastic. For a hotel based restaurant, this place is great. Great service, great drinks and all my food was either good or VERY good. I spent a week here and had several meals here, at first due to ease, then later because I wanted to. Chris, Chelsea, Rosie and Matt all were great. How did I remember their names ? Because they were nice and I wanted to. A nicely rounded menu for any restaurant much less a hotel based restaurant. Give them a shot ... maybe just not during World Trade Center events ... they get slammed. read more
