WARNING! These thieves charged me $365 just to snake my kitchen drain! I was stuck and had to use my kitchen for the weekend, so I had to pay them rather than wait. The service tech also tried to charge me an additional $800 to "clear out the drain further down". He was there for about 45 minutes and just used a basic tool to snake the drain. I wish I had another choicest the time, but used them instead. They take advantage of people who can't function in the home without water and plumbing. There was nothing exceptional about the service or tools that were used. I just literally got ripped off. read more

This company was scheduled to come out to my house to quote a water heater replacement twice. Each time, they committed to arriving during a time range. Each time, I made sure to clear my schedule to make sure I was home during the scheduled time frame. Each time, they never arrived, they never called to let me know they had to reschedule (I had to call them after the no shows). Each time they provide no reason for the no shows. Overall a very poorly run organization with awful communication skills. I understand appoints run late and maybe you can make it to all your scheduled appointments but at least give your clients a heads up. The fact that this company has a 4.4 rating is shocking. I imagine maybe it's due to their technicians being good but it's definitely not for the quality of the front office. They installed a new HVAC unit ($11K) for me in 2021 and I had issues multiple times during the warranty period and it took a good while to resolve. Then bc of all the wear and tear on my NEW unit, I already had the capacitor go out (within about 18 months) and I had to pay to replace it! Unbelievable. Since then I pay the $22/mth service plan fee for VIP service and I've been trying to schedule an AC tune-up since June - they have stood me up or cancelled FOUR appointments in a row. I just now scheduled my 5th appointment for my annual AC tune-up in late August. To say I regret hiring them and using them is a complete understatement. Please be smarter than I was and DO NOT use this company for HVAC services. read more

On 01/09/24 an ARS representative approached me in Home Depot and said that Home Depot is running special for 72 hours offering HBAC tune for $39 each fir AC and Heating. I asked what will tune up includes. She said there will be a complete check up diagnostic, cleaning and lubricating the parts so that the unit can function smoothly and reduce electric and gas bill. I agreed to have the tuneup gor both AC and Heating. A Technician arrived the same day at about 3:30. He did some diagnostic and said your capacitor may nit last long needed replacement. He said he can do it straight away for $325. I was shocked. I said it it is working don't need to replace. He closed the panel and said let's go check you heating. I said is that it, your representative at Home Depot said you will do more than just diagnostic like lubrication and cleaning. He said these representatives don't know what is involved in diagnostic. He did the same thing with heating opened the panel and said capacitor needs replacement fir $325. He mentioned two other things. No cleaning or lube or filter change, noting. Prepared a report of the four items with there cost took my initial against each of the items. Ask me to pay with credit card which I did. I told him to send me the report where he took my signature for the items. He took my email and left. My credit card was charged for $78 but no report arrived, next day called the customer service of ARS she took my email nothing came again called the customer service, this time a more responsible rep answered. She again took my email. Report came of the diagnostic performed but no report of the four items that he recommended to be replaced. Called again was told to call customer satisfaction line tomorrow to get the report. The service promised was not performed and what a run around for a simple report. Stay away from ARS. I am sitting here waiting for my AC maintenance guy to show up as I had my appointment scheduled for today the hours of 10 am- 2pm. I phoned ARS to make sure I did have an appointment to which CSR responded that they were running behind. I reminded her that when I made the appointment that I requested morning to which her response was " ever body requests mornings " I asked why I hadn't received some sort of call to let me know they were running behind to which she explained that the person that makes those calls were " running behind" CSR asked if I wanted to reschedule or just wait it out for them this evening. If there was an option to select half a star I would select that instead of 1 star. ARS called me to offer a summer AC tune up ($49 per unit) and we agreed on a date and I arranged to be available at the house. On the morning of the appt their dispatch called and said they had overbooked their schedule and now the next available date was a week later. I agreed to the new date but asked that a manager/supervisor call me to better understand their appt methods and to explain the inconvenience. Never got a call from anyone and the new appt was never sent to me. A week later I get a call from a technician saying they would not be able to get to me that day but that he could do 9:00 AM the next AM. I agreed and again rearranged my schedule in order to be present. At 9:03 the dispatch called to inform me they had someone on the way. I asked about my call from a manager that never happened and asked if I could speak with someone now. Her reply was "yeah they are in meetings and don't really talk to customers like that". About an hour later the technicians show up, block my driveway with their van. One of them proceeds to go into the backyard before either of them had ever come to the front door to let me know they were on site. When the guy rang the bell I told him I needed to put my dog up before they came inside or went to the backyard at which time he begins yelling at his coworker. I asked him why he didn't let me know they were here before just going into my backyard at which he replied "we are leaving and don't need the attitude". Called them to diagnose and service our tankless hot water heater, before schediling the appointment they Confirmed the call out fee if they can include that if we go ahead with the quote given by technician when technician showed up he didn't even open the unit or examine the unit nor he smell the Odor in water (burnt odor in water actual issue) in a minute he gave us a quote of over $450 and collected call out fee and also said call out fee cannot be included which contradicts to what corporste office said and most importantly their service charge and their effort to diagnose was ridiculous I got couple of other opinions technicnd service was less than half read more

On May 29th,2024, I contacted ARS HVAC call center to schedule an appointment for my AC repair. I received a text message indicating that I have a confirmed appointment for Sunday, June 2,2024. The arrival time was between 2pm to 6pm. Throughout the day I never did receive a status of when the technician will come by . There was never a texted message or phone call . We call at 5:22pm Sunday evening to find out the status of when the HVAC technician will arrive from the call center. The call was placed on hold so that the call center could reach the dispatch. We were told that there was no answer from dispatch and she left them a message regarding our service call. . To make a story short we never received a call from dispatch or the HVAC technician after waiting patiently all day. On Monday, June 3,2024, I spoke to a manager by the name of Kim. She tried to explain to me that a technician would have to call me 30 minutes before their arrival and after several attempts the service would be canceled. I told Kim that we never received any text or phone call. And she tried rescheduling it for today (Monday) with a waiting period again from 2pm to 6pm. And if a technician becomes available then it might be sooner. In my opinion I really don't think she tried to help me because I still had to wait indefinitely after I had an appointment that was scheduled for Sunday. She rather believed her HVAC technician that they made a call to us instead of listening to the customer. I have no reason to lie just to get service from you guys. I am very sure that I am not the only customer this has happened. If you have GPS on your service vehicles you will know where your technicians are at any given time. You should be able to look at their telephone log to verify if they made a truthful attempt to reach a customer. Now I have find another HVAC repair service, she really did not care that I am a senior citizen and that was the best she could do. During this period of Texas  summer, hot weather of 90 degrees or higher.  My house's indoor temperature is reading 88  degrees at night. read more

I scheduled a Water Heater replacement estimate through Lowes and they assigned this company for the job. I received a text that they would schedule it between 8am-Noon on Monday. So I get a call at 10:30am on Monday that is it scheduled now for 2-6pm. I am glad I cancelled with the company. I should have read the reviews beforehand. Our toilet backed up, so I decided to contact ARS Rescue Rooter. They came the next day and cleared the clog and identified a cracked pipe as the cause. They sent another technician for a second evaluation and he also confirmed the findings. We were informed of the location of the crack and given a quote of $11,000 to repair. We contacted the City of Austin, who came out and provided us video showing no crack where ARS mentioned it was. ARS (could stand for: Always Ripping-off Someone) - Recently I purchased a hot water heater from Home Depot. I was told I would receive a call from "one" of their vendors for a quote. It turns out there is now only 1 vendor at least here in Austin. That is ARS. They have a flat fee of $1350 for the install and I had to pay for another part that was an additional $225 for a whopping total of $1575 to install a water heater. I asked for a breakdown of the "flat fee" and they would not give me one and only said they can explain what items are in the fee such as the required building permit fee, cost to bring to code, labor, etc. However, I have no idea what I was charged for any of these items and ARS would not show me. I have no idea what their labor rate is or how much I was charged for the city permit fee or what parts had been required to bring my install up to "code" and how much this was. About 18 months ago I used another company for another rental house I owned and for the entire bill of water heater, install, code improvement, etc was just under $1600. For the Home Depot / ARS experience I paid a total $2385.00. I get there is inflation today but not that high and not being transparent is a red flag that they are hiding things and ripping people off. So I will no longer ever purchase any appliance from Home Depot that requires installation services from them since they now only use ARS and I would never recommend ARS to anyone. I went to YELP and found over 400 similar complaints on ARS as well as complaints listed at the Better Business Bureau which I will also go and express my concern. read more

tldr: I don't recommend them; their billing department will not respond to you about issues or cancellations. Go with someone else ----- I used this company to increase water pressure; the plumber did good work, but ARS's organization is horrible. Prior to work getting started, I called because I had a question regarding the work. The operator told me that if I sign up for a monthly membership, then a service fee would be waived for today's work. So I decided to sign up. After the work is done, the plumber tells me the membership discount doesn't apply for today's work, which contradicted what the person on the phone told me. Later, I try to cancel my membership since I didn't need a monthly subscription. I was told I could cancel anytime I wanted to by calling them, and so I called them. I'm told that they will contact the relevant billing department to cancel, and it will be done "in the next few days" and I will get a confirmation email. A week later, I have gotten no email and I call again. I'm told that the billing department had gotten no notice about my account. I tell the person on the customer line that I want to cancel, and they send an email. I'm told I will be called today to confirm. I wait until the end of the day, and I have yet to be called. So I call again. I"m told they will send another email, and billing will get back to me in a day. I wait another day; at this point, I feel like a broken record and call again. I tell them this is the third time I have tried to cancel this, is there someone I can talk to or an address I can send a letter to cancel -- I'm told I can only cancel via this number and this is my only option. They tell they are emailing the department and cc-ing customer experience.. I should hear back 3-5 days later. At this point, I don't have much hope and plan to dispute any charge from them (since I'm pretty sure they have cancelled nothing). At this point, I regret contacting them and don't recommend them. I believe this is my first ever negative review. I "worked" with Tyler regarding our AC unit. Everything was going fine until it wasn't. I understand things go wrong. I have no problem with that as long as the person/company keeps in communication. Instead what happened is Tyler led us to believe our AC would be installed the next day. Then the next day. Then finally there were no replies to text messages and screening of calls. We still haven't heard back from him even though he knows we have 2 kids who are quite hot in this Austin heat. I'm writing this in hopes that no one who reads this review uses this company. To ARS and Tyler, no need to try to contact me to "make things right" or whatever else you may say. I made my appointment one week ahead and was given a day in which they would come out from 9 am to 1 pm. They called at 10 am and said they would let us know later how things were shaping up. When they had not called by 12:15 pm, I called them and the lady told me that they would not be out by 1 pm because they were running behind and had to go out on some emergency calls. I told her that if they couldn't come out by 1 then don't come out at all, having effectively tied up my entire morning waiting for them. No call until 1:30p so I call back and then they proceed to say that they don't send out electricians on the weekends. Feb. 21 - called plumber about yet another leak in the backyard, made decision to run new pipe and reduce run from 270 feet to 132 feet Feb. 22 - diggers came and dug trench in front yard and into the backyard Feb. 25 - plumber came to run line (he is off Sunday and Monday) and said city would come out to inspect Feb. 26, 27, 28, 29, March 1 - no communication of any kind Feb. 28 and March 2 I called 4 different times only to find out the inspection had never been scheduled and the plumber had never notified anyone at the company to do so. March 4 - inspection finally happened March 5 - wasn't notified about inspection, found it on the City's inspection page. Left 4 messages to try and get someone scheduled to fill in the trench. As of 5:30 pm, still waiting. Ideally this could have all been done in 5 days or less Trench is a safety hazard, you can't get into the house without stepping over it, there is no way to get into the back yard. I have had no access to my vehicle in this time, it's been stuck in the driveway because I made the silly assumption this would only take a few days. The person who said they weren't aware of the need for inspection was left voice mail by me on Feb. 28 and March 2 but apparently never checked it. The person who is scheduling for the trench to be filled in isn't answering voice mail or email today. I cannot really recommend a company who cannot coordinate between departments, leaves a safety hazard for someone who is obviously handicapped, and has a history of being this uncoordinated. This also happened last year when I had a pipe break in the house to the water heater and was without hot water for 2 weeks. Also I have no paperwork, so I am not entirely sure what I signed and how much I owe. I am going to be negotiating a large discount due to the obvious lack of coordination on their part. read more

My husband and I are getting the siding replaced on our house and our A/C cut out around the time the contractor was working near the unit (1 pm). Our Nest thermostat read that it was a wiring issue, so I didn't connect that it was contractor error right away. My husband and I tried to fix the issue, but it was about 6 pm when the A/C wouldn't even start up, so our contractor called ARS. They were upfront about the fact that they had other jobs and would be able to have a technician out in a few hours. We agreed and sweated it out on the couch. The technician, Chase, was extremely communicative and set our expectations about when he could get to us. When he arrived, he was very professional, answered all the questions we had, and solved the issue within the hour. We were able to sleep in comfort with A/C. We didn't pay (our contractor did), but I actually thought the price was reasonable for an after-hours issue. read more

Water heater went out completely. I received a quote to install a new one. Holy PRICE GOUGING, Batman! Possibly based on the fact that I had no hot water they thought I was desperate. On top of $1,600 in labor (for a 2 hour job) they tried to include all kinds of parts I didn't need. New ball valve (this one works fine). New drip pan (nothing wrong with the old one). We hired Home Depot to replace our hot water heater and found they contracted with ARS. Home Depot does not warrantee or stand behind any of their work, They won't even take a call. It took ARS 4 trips to get the hot water heater installed properly. They charged over $7,000. If the outside air temp get in the 20's the tankless heater freezes. Service is bad. Warrantee is worthless. Look at all the bad reviews. You can do better. Do not use Home Depot. Do not use ARS. read more

Terrible customer service. Had the advisor show up to my boyfriends house that he just moved into after being out of it for two years. Wanted to have the unit inspected for any possible repairs or service needed. He had forgot he scheduled an appointment I told Roy, the advisor, to let me call and confirm with boyfriend. Roy was quick to say, it's Saturday evening and I'm ready to go home. You could tell he wanted to get back in his car and head home. Called boyfriend and said to let him in. First thing Toy said was "I don't know why I'm here, this is a nine year old home and Air conditioners last approximately 20 years. Given his attitude and lack of wanting to be here to do anything, I told him to never mind we didn't need his services. Asked for his business card, which he said he didn't have on him. Weird for a representative from a business to come out without business cards. So after a few times of persisting for something with a name of the company, contact info and his name, he went to his car and grabbed a business card. This company has lost a customer for sure not only from my boyfriend but from me as well. Don't show up to a home with a possible sell if you have no desire to be there in the first place. Referred to this company by Lowes to replace a water heater. The company sent Collin Bagaline to do an estimate. This representative lied in order to charge a large amount of money to replace the unit. I talked to a city inspector, and he that the electrical and drainage (detector) changes recommended by the representative were unnecessary. The ARS representative also told me that Lowes required payment upfront. Read the contract and Lowes doesn't require payment until after the work is completed. My disabled dad called to make an appointment because our sink was clogged up. Because we already use another service, I called back to cancel it. Come the next morning, ARS showed up anyway. Because it was a holiday, there was going to be an extra fee. This is also why I wanted to cancel the appointment. I called ARS to let them know about the situation. We settled on letting them look at our sink since they were already there plus they agreed to waive the holiday fee of $89. Because of my dads disability he isn't able to make decisions about these things. I had prior commitments so I had to leave my dad to deal with ARS. When I came back another ARS technician had arrived to assist. Apparently the initial tech needed different equipment. I was informed that they had already obtained the "signature" from my disabled dad for the go ahead on that. The second tech that arrived basically took over the appointment and purposely took advantage of my disabled dad. We didn't even get an itemized receipt so we don't know what we paid for. In the end, they said we needed a specialist because the initial 2 techs couldn't figure it out. I decided to cancel the whole thing because we needed to check with the service that we already use. But it's disgusting that ARS took advantage of a disabled person like they did. I will not be doing business with them again. read more

I'd used ARS in the past and was very satisfied with the technician's work and the price. I recently called to have a tub faucet drip and bathroom sink drip repaired. Was told that the type of tub faucet I had was no longer made, so the faucet valve and the waterline from the faucet to the shower head would have to be replaced. I have chrome fixtures, he replaced with brushed nickel. I wasn't asked what type/style or color of faucet/spout I would like. (Today I found what I wanted on Home Depot's website.) The tub and shower spouts are now cockeyed/off center. The tub faucet drip cost me $675.50, and the sink drip cost $175. Funny how the total came out to exactly $850.50. I took pictures and filed a complaint, and I expect them to make things right, including replacing the faucet and spout at no charge. I will never, ever use them again. read more
