I've used ARS twice now for major work and have been satisfied both times...with one caveat. First was hot water install, that had faulty parts and other issues. Repairs were quickly assigned and addressed. Second project required major excavation and complete replacement of old cast-iron sewer pipes. Excavation sub contractor Rite Way and ARS plumbing crew led by Conner were excellent - hard-working and respectful for what I know is difficult and very dirty work. Conner was great at keeping me informed of the steps and was a complete professional throughout this stressful process....5 star! I give an overall 4 star instead of 5 star due to what seemed like a lack of coordination with the Rite Way resulting in delays and the lack of thorough cleanup after. Dirt was left in a neighbor's yard and dirt plus mud/concrete mix was left in my rock yard. Project took almost a month from start to finish, some of that time I had to be out of my home with no drains or water. During this time I was told that Rite Way does its own scheduling. My suggestion is for ARS as the overall contractor to better control that part of the process and it would likely be a 5 star rating. read more

had a tech come out and do a diagnostic test. stated everything was working out well but could recommend another co woroker to cole give a no obligation quote. worker Zachary C. came and gave options to different packages they could offer. I kindly declined and stated we did not want to go forward. after this was said he still went on to push a credit limit increase request towards my wife's Lowe's card. after we left we received a call from a service tech asking what time he could come the next day to install our new unit. We explained this was a mistake and we never agreed for a new system. Ofcourse.... After all this. Our AC unit suddenly decides to no longer work. After it being perfectly fine. Can almost certainly point this towards this technicia/company who insisted we buy a new unit before the year ends. Terrible and horrible way to try and win a client. read more

I normally do not leave negative reviews, but after years of ongoing HVAC problems and repeated unresolved repairs, I feel obligated to share my experience with ARS/Rescue Rooter Austin. Since installation, my HVAC system has experienced repeated cooling failures, humidity issues, airflow problems, and ongoing operational instability. Over time, I have had more than 24 technician visits attempting to resolve recurring problems. Despite the system being less than two years old, major components including the compressor and evaporator coil have already required replacement. Even after those major repairs, the system still struggled to cool the home properly or maintain humidity levels. Throughout the process, I experienced: * poor cooling performance, * inability to maintain thermostat setpoint, * excessive indoor humidity, * repeated Stage 2 runtime, * airflow concerns, * freeze protection and wiring issues, * and repeated service callbacks. During troubleshooting, I personally discovered disconnected return-side ductwork near the HEPA/dehumidifier section that was pulling hot humid attic air directly into the HVAC return system. This was contributing significantly to the cooling and humidity issues and was something I ultimately identified myself after repeated service visits. While some technicians were professional and attempted to help, the overall experience has been exhausting and frustrating due to the repeated unresolved problems, inconsistent diagnoses, and the amount of time required to continuously coordinate service appointments. At this point, the issue has been escalated to Carrier, the financing company, BBB, and TDLR due to the ongoing unresolved performance concerns. I strongly recommend that anyone considering a major HVAC installation ensure they receive complete airflow verification, commissioning documentation, duct inspection, and written performance measurements from day one. The installers did not follow directions, the job had required multiple visits having to be redone. it took them 4 whole day visits to do a job that should have taken 6hrs to complete. Didn't wire dehumidifier up to anything at all. Tied into existing drain instead of making dedicated drain lines. Double billed me in hopes that I would double pay. read more

Wanted to charge $706 to replace the capacitors of my AC unit. That is 2X-3X more expensive than the competition in the area. An update for the response below to change an AC capacitor is an easy repair for anyone with a basic understanding of working with electrical components. The cost of such a repair is $100-400 for parts and labor. The cost most companies would charge in this area is $200-300 There is no "premium" service that could possibly make up this 400-500 dollar difference read more

Do not use this company. They did not show up at the scheduled time so I called them. After several minutes wait they told me they could not do the work today. They sent me several reminder text message, even one an hour before their scheduled time. Then when they were late I had to call them. Was referred to ARS by Lowe's. When they completed the job, I paid them in full by check. I was never asked for a deposit. A month or so later I got a call from their accounting department saying that they only processed 1/2 of the check. I paid them in full and they admitted to mishandling the check. Afterwards, I received countless emails and texts. On my last call with ARS, I told them to send me a bill. I have never received the bill that I requested. Instead they resubmitted the check a second time without my permission. This is textbook check fraud. A check is a one time use form of payment. I have reported this to my bank. Lowe's was no help in resolving this. They actually admitted the check fraud in an email and went so far as to suggest they could submit the check a third time. ARS mishandled my payment. ARS and Lowe's have repeatedly blamed me for this. Their lack of accountability in mishandling the payment that they received has caused them to commit crimes. read more

We have used ARS for years but lately they have really been disappointing. They are happy to give you a service time window but it means nothing! This latest time they kept us home an entire Saturday and they never showed up! This was even to correct an issue they caused during their inspection earlier this week. Even more frustrating-they said 3 times they would be there within 20 minutes but just didn't call or show up. Might be time to look for a new company!! We asked to speak to a manager - they said one would call us and they never did!! Now we wasted Saturday and they should be here now on Sunday but guess what? They are a no show! I was very disappointed with my experience. The online estimate range was almost half of what the technician quoted when he arrived on site. When I said the price was too high, he asked, "Well, what would you like to pay?" I told him a number that was roughly half his verbal quote, and he immediately said he could do it for that amount. However, after going to get his tools, he came back and said at that price he couldn't provide a warranty unless I paid the original, much higher amount. At that point, it was clear the pricing was inconsistent and the expectations weren't being communicated honestly. I told him I would find someone else. If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with this company was absolutely awful. I was given a 2-6 PM window for a technician to fix our broken A/C. By 5:45, I'd heard nothing--so I called. I was told the tech would be "a few minutes late." Hours passed. I called again at 7 PM and was told the technician would reach out to me soon - not a word. By 10:30 PM, the inside of my home was 90°, my baby and toddler was miserable and sweating, and I had called three times--and still, no one showed up. Was referred to them by Home Depot to pick up and install a new water heater and remove the old one. Jerome Baez, "Plumbing Advisor", gave me a detailed description of work to be done, emphasizing that it was a big deal because the old one had no drain pan and they had to dig under my slab foundation and out under the garage to install a pipe to drain any leaks to the street. Said it would take 4 hours. No digging at all was performed. They installed a drain pan and a cheap plastic part and were finished in less than 2 hours. I was overcharged more than $1000. read more

I hate that Home Depot is in bed with this scumbag company. They were the only "installation" option if I were to buy a hot water heater from Home Depot. DO NOT DO IT!! The first red flag was when they wouldn't even give me a ballpark quote without a full appointment. What's to look at? Oh yeah, they need to find anything to upcharge. The guy threw safety codes in my face and claimed they had to pretend a state inspector were coming to check their work. called ARS for routine spring checkup on 22 Mar and surprised that they could fit me in between 2pm and 6pm. 6;30 hadn't heard from them so i called and advised running behind but was next in line. 8:oopm called again and advised having problems with the repair. I told them to forget coming for a checkup service that late and rescheduled for Wed 10am to 2pm. called at 12pm to see if they were on schedule. Told i didn't have an appointment scheduled but be glad to get me serviced on Thur 10am to 2pm. They sent text verifying the appointment. Checked with them at 1pm and again way behind and wanted to know if they could come Sunday. I understand priority for folks with no a/c and if they would communicate with customers on the schedule when they know they cannot do the job i'd work with them. Just glad our a/c is fine and will get my service done with someone who understands that waiting for 4 hrs to come and go without so much as a we're running behind call with 3 different days not showing up takes the cake. use ARS at your own risk. read more

I see that there are issues on here with scheduling but my experience with ARS was top notch, and on time. Jerome arrived as scheduled and did an assessment, and Javier and Nuhar did hard diligent work in the hot sun. The new water heater has pressure and functionality we did not previously experience with the older unit. The work was pricey but I will get over that if the heater continues to function well, but the personnel I dealt with were professional and showed up on time and finished on time under the not the most comfortable of conditions. read more

ARS Rescue Rooter installed a brand-new HVAC system at my house in June 2017. The system stopped working properly in August 2025. Since I was still under warranty coverage, I contacted ARS for the diagnosis. ARS' technician came and determined that there was a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil after testing the area using a wand-like detector. With this background, shown below are the reasons for the review score I gave. The original contract I had specified 10-year warranty for parts but only 1-year labor warranty coverage. ARS quoted me a lump-sum amount, no itemization, of several thousand dollars for the warranty repair. This dollar amount was about the same as another quote I received on the same day from a different company for a not-under-warranty work. This didn't make much sense to me but I had no choice but to accept ARS' quote because I didn't want to void the remaining warranty coverage with ARS by introducing a 3rd party repair. The bottom line is, ARS honored the warranty but, in my case, the warranty was worthless because I had to pay about the same amount of money as not-under-warranty work. ARS was adamant about requiring that I pay the full amount before they even schedule the work for my warranty repair. They said they would not schedule my work unless they got paid-in-full first. I thought it was absolutely unfair and offered to pay the half for the scheduling then pay the balance at the time of the work but they wouldn't accept it. Not having other choices, I ended up paying the full amount before they scheduled the job. I paid about $650 more for the diagnosis and the leak detection. The technicians were courteous and informative. When they noticed we don't wear shoes inside the house, they took their shoes off or put on shoe-covers whenever they came inside. read more

What a Joke! I've had to have one of my toilet snaked twice this year. ARS scheduled me 10-2pm. They arrived an hour late even though I called in 10 minutes from 2pm to say I have a 3pm appointment which they assured me he was around the corner, just to show up at 3pm. After 5 hours he tells he that he has to remove my toilet to snake. I was quoted $83 and technician says $83 for outside only and it would be $400 plus more. What a nessed up organization! All I needed was mytoilet snaked. Only company to say they had to remive the toilet. Don't use these guys! This sucks! read more

Before 6pm on this same Sunday, my thermost was repaired. On top of that EVERYBODY I talked to, Customer Service, Dispatch, & technician, (Mr. Sam E. who's still a genious, in my mind, yet he said: No, no, I'm just a simple technician. Heh) were ALL Pleasant. My tech even pointed to a $50 off coupon available on the web-site *he didn't have to do that. Like I said. We all must travel our own journeys, at the end of the day. We purchased 2 hvac units last year from ARS. The units have worked fine. We purchased a service contract to inspect the units twice a year, along with discounts on parts and labor. I have scheduled the first free inspection this year, and 3 times ARS has failed to show up. I call the dispatcher and they take a message, confirm contact information promising to give an update. Ars was readily available to come and work on my heater. Find problems with it and sell and install a new one. Last night,3 weeks later a heavy rain came and my living room flooded from the ceiling. due to their faulty installation of the vent ,I took in water from the first heavy rain. I called them ,but they said they could not get to it till the morning. I would be the first customer at 8am. 8am came I called they said they would contact the contractor and give me an update. I called again to ask for a direct line to somebody. there is no direct line. the call takers have to send an email to a manager, and tell them to call. im still waiting. its 9:30am no service person here yet either. they were real quick to take my 8000. no so quick to fix this problem. no one has contacted me. my service window is 8-12. so much for customer service. ...you can not get a hold of anyone. no supervisors. What a crock! I had an emergency leak that needed attention so I called because the company advertises 24/7 service. They gave me an "appointment" for that same evening between nine and midnight but never showed up. When I called in to the call center to find out what was going on, they told me that they might not show up until the morning... Why say that you're gonna come tonight if you're not? Bunch of BS!!!!
