Rooterman has changed over the years and, unfortunately, not in a good way. My first review of them…read morewas in 2015 so that tells you that I have been a customer for a very long time. The focus of this review is the water heater that they installed on 1/26/23. As you can see from my other reviews, the water heater that was installed before that one was in 2016. 7 years is a reasonable amount of time for a water heater to last. The problem is that the anode rod is failing in this current one. Edie came out and drained it on June 29th. We are not currently living there. In fact, the house is for sale. The problem was the hot water was turning yellow. He said to run the hot water, especially in the tub upstairs once a week, which we have been doing despite living across town now. Guess what? The hot water is yellow in tint again. Here's the rub. At the top of my receipt it says 50 gallon water heater, 6 year essential warranty. Fast forward to yesterday. Garrett comes out and notes the yellowish tint in the hot water. So, he says he can maybe replace the anode rod for about $500. He also says I can try calling AO Smith to see if they will send a new water heater and they will install it for about 2K. So, this is like going to a mechanic and a part fails and they say, why don't you call the company and see if they will send you a new part? I am pretty sure that is not a thing. By the way, he tried to get the anode rod out and it is welded solid in there. I told him we would give a credit to a potential buyer but after talking to my husband I realize that is not a good approach. It is already a brutal market to try to sell a home. So, I am faced with having to replace it although I have a document that says at the top 6 year essential warranty. That makes no sense. I will have to bid it out and Rooterman will not be on the list. They replaced the heater in 2016 and then again in 2023. I had no qualms in having them install it in 2023 because they had my complete trust. This is no longer the case. I no longer recommend Rooterman Plumbing. I gave them 2 stars because they used to do a good and honest job for me. I no longer feel that this is the case.

They've got you over a barrel when they come out and start throwing parts. This was an install of a drop in kitchen sink and faucet. He told me his hourly rate was 135 bucks. I was expecting to spend about 400 maybe 500. The final bill was 850. I feel I was overcharged on both the parts and labor. He charged me starting 45 min before he got there but still included a "truck charge." The removal and replace of the sink took 2 hours. To me the "clock" starts on the labor at the agreed upon arrival time. When I'm getting charged 439(!) bucks for parts on top of the sink and faucet itself, that extra charge for labor is quite unwelcome. I mean the sink and faucet itself that were "nice" were like 500 bucks. So almost that again just in parts. ‍ His answer in general as I look at these reviews is that he buys his parts from a plumber supply not Home Depot etc. I would have to research each individual part to see if its price point is "fair". A perusal of solid brass fittings and pvc p traps on the Lowe's site shows the price I paid was about doubled. He acted quite insulted that I wouldn't know just how much better his parts were and implied they were all but unavailable at big box stores. literally doubling what I expected to pay was quite a shock to say the least. Several years ago, Airco installed a 3-ton variable-speed system in a house that had previously had a 2-ton unit (and a history of trouble keeping cool). After about a year of operation, our tenants reported mold in the ducts, high humidity, and a short-cycling unit. Our investigation found that the installer, Stuart, had never pulled a permit for the work. I want to be candid: it took a negative Yelp review to get Airco's attention. Jeremy reached out, recommended we upsize the ductwork, offered a very fair price, and agreed to close out the permits. I'm slow to trust, so I got second and third opinions from other HVAC companies -- they confirmed the system size was correct for the house, and that the ductwork should have been upsized at the original install. My own Manual J calculations agreed with Jeremy's. Notably, Jeremy was the only installer I could find who was actually willing to run a Manual J. He also followed through on pulling permits and getting the city inspection scheduled. Airco worked to schedule the new duct installation during the one week we'd be in town -- during peak season, no less -- and their crew moved fast and stayed professional, which I appreciated given how brutal a Texas attic is this time of year. A few days in, the system is no longer short-cycling, and indoor humidity has dropped to about 63%. Still a touch higher than ideal, but we think we can chase the rest of it down -- possibly window seals, possibly fan settings or duct leakage. I was impressed enough that I also used Airco for a plumbing call this week.

I was looking to replace my entire AC system which is why it's important to find the best in the business and rated the best. It's also important to find more than one 5* business so you can get a better picture and quotes for such an expensive endeavor which I found helpful. If you're going to go all the way with such an expense, it's best to educate yourself as much as possible, and there's lots of YouTube videos on AC repair and replacement which you should watch prior to making that decision. You really need to be an informed and educated customer or you might find yourself with an inferior or wrong system. I found that certain AC companies want the steer you to certain brands they represent, so you may wish to decide on a brand first. I found that the Carrier Infiniti system with its very high seer rating and variable speed was the perfect choice. More details on this system in the photos below. If you live in a two-story house like mine, you can expect the price to be much greater due to the fact that you have dampeners which will need to be fixed or replaced which greatly adds to the bill. As for my AC, it was over 20 years old, but still chugging along. However, I knew there was going to be new mandates in 2025 which would greatly add to the expense of AC replacement such as a new refrigerant which is slightly flammable called Puranovance. I replaced my old R22 compressor with the new R-410a which is still readily available, but will eventually be phased out many years from now. I also mistakenly thought you'd get a good deal by replacing it during the cool months, but apparently a lot of people were doing what I was doing so no break in the price. As a matter fact, the date of manufacture of my new Infiniti compressor was only just a couple weeks old before it was installed. After some back-and-forth on pricing, we finally decided on a date of installation. Carl and his crew showed up and had everything installed within six hours and hauled off the old units. We still needed some troubleshooting in order to dial-in the thermostats functioning properly, but everything works perfectly now and the temperature remains exactly as you set it throughout the house. Both the compressor and the blower motor are incredibly quiet. Since I knew I needed this replacement at some point, I had enough money in the bank to cut a check for the job. When you sign up for Carl's service, you get Carl in the equation. Check out the photos below which show you the equipment, specs and the pricing. Update: After 2 weeks the plenum did separate, but I was able to use foil tape to close up the 8" gap. Personally, I think a 30 day check up would be a good idea not just for Carl, but anyone who gets this kind of installation from whatever company you choose.

Having lived with the original builder grade bath for close to 40 years, I…read moredecided it was time to start preparing to "age in place" and get my master bath completely redone - shower conversion, floor tile, cabinets, new toilet, wallpaper removal and painting. This was my first major remodel, so I don't really have anything to compare with. The nits I experienced were pretty minor and probably typical for a job this scale. I found Jose thru Yelp after verifying his other reviews were from real people and not AI generated. I had initially gotten quotes from several of the bathroom remodelers that advertise on TV and experienced sticker shock. One of them turned out to do only the wet area - I would have had to get someone else for the floors, cabinets, painting, etc. Their quote for just the shower area ended up being about what I paid Jose for the entire job. Another of the TV advertisers could do everything I wanted, but their quote was almost 3x what Jose quoted! Yes, they could do it in 2-3 days, but is that worth 3x the cost? One of the first nits I experienced was that Jose didn't tell me the whole master bedroom would be sealed off during the project. Not that big a deal, but I wish I'd known that in advance. They got the demo completed the first day. One of the more time-consuming parts was removing the old wallpaper, which seemed to take about 2 days (the old walls were completely papered). His crew foreman Javier is a master craftsman. I learned pretty quickly to trust his experience. When I had initially seen the tile backer boards installed for the shower, I thought they had forgotten the niche shelf I'd requested. He explained that goes in last. One of the other nits I experienced was that I had to buy a lot of the supplies myself. I would have much preferred just pointing to stuff in a catalog, and Jose go buy them. The biggest problem with that was the grout. I trusted the tile shop's recommendation on grout, and when I delivered it to Javier, he said that stuff is no good. He explained that since it has silicone, it constantly outgasses and leaves a film on the tile. I went online and saw some other reviews with the same comments, so that reinforced my decision to trust what he was doing. Similar experience with the safety grab bars. I just bought some from Amazon, which came with cheap nylon screw locks. Seemed pretty flimsy should you have to actually use them to prevent a fall. Javier was able to use drywall anchors to securely lock them in place. The last nit was the cabinet installation. They were in such a rush to finish the cabinets that the toilet hadn't even been installed. Since I switched to an elongated ADA style toilet, it turned out the medicine cabinet above the toilet could no longer be reached at the old one's height. They had to come back and lower it 4 inches. Again, an easy correction, but would have been unnecessary if they had put the new toilet in first. Jose's crew finished up in 2 weeks, but it was another week before the glass shower doors and mirror showed up to be installed. Anyway, they finally went in today, and I am very happy with the end results. My neighbor had his bath redone last year, and comparing Jose's work to my neighbor's handyman, Jose is miles ahead. I finally know what "Schluter" is. My neighbor doesn't have it, so there are sharp tile edges everywhere! Jose Robles Remodeling will definitely be in the running to do my other 2 bathrooms.

We figured we'd see if Dan could install and while he was at it, fix an outlet, fix an outdoor light fixture, hang an irritating heavy photo collage, and fix our bedroom door that keeps pulling apart at the hinges. While I had a basic idea of what I wanted, I debated getting a formal project manager to handle coordination of the full install. With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). My personal experience with him in terms of communication was excellent, but I also purposefully avoided peak summer season so as not to catch him at a busy time. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

I must admit I was at my anxiety limit when I was told that not only my house foundation needed lifting but also my plumbing was damaged underneath the foundation. After several plumber's estimate and their inability to locate the damaged pipes I called O&M. This crew (Alex, Bryan, and Mike) were able to locate the damage quickly with certainty. No "Well this spot looks like it could be it" or "Well the camera couldn't get the right angle so it's not clear if it's a leak or not". These guys knew what they were looking for and were very professional, neat and courteous. And, most importantly didn't mind me being a terrible client by asking questions and standing over their shoulders at times (They all were wearing mask). Each of them was able and willing to take the time to explain the aspects of the job and the tools they were using. Every step of the project and associated estimates were clearly written and electronically captured so transparency in the scope of work was maintained. If you want a plumbing team that will get the job, call Ben at O&M he'll review your needs and send the right team to your home. I interviewed a couple of plumbing outfits for a bathroom refurb on the 2nd floor of my townhome in Cedar Park. My 1st chat was with the owner Ben, who subsequently dispatched his brother Drew to scope out the effort. I was impressed with Drews' knowledge of what I desired him to do as well as the timeline and plan to move forward. We started out with a bid that was app 15% higher than the competition but I added some extra requirements to sweeten the deal and they lowered their bid, a win-win for everyone. Gotta tell you Drew and his apprentice were all over it. Their demonstrated skill and knowledge was excellent particularly in view of the fact the refurb was directly above my breaker box! Gulp! But outside of their talent, expediency and professionalism, what I appreciated most was the fact that during the install, which required 3 trips to my place, not once did they ever ask me for a dime ubtil the job was 90% complete and even then they only requested 85% of the total payment the rest to be delivered when they come one last time to set some trim. This is a family business at its best and it shows. I would recommend these guys ro anyone. Skill, talent and professionalism...what else can you ask for? read more

I recommend using their services. Efficient, helpful, and went above and beyond. Joseph and Antonio came to our unit to diagnose and fix our sink's garbage disposal. After Texas was hit with freezing temps in February, our unit lost power and likely caused our disposal to lock which stopped it from draining water into the sink. That water began to drain through our dishwasher, out from beneath and onto our kitchen floor. Joseph and Antonio unlocked our disposal, allowing the sink to drain normally. After, they checked if the dishwasher had power, which it did not. Because the washer had no power, but had excess water that could not be drained, Joseph and Antonio manually drained the dishwasher so leakage from the excess water sitting inside the washer would be less likely. Then they directed us to call an electrician to address the dead outlet causing the dishwasher to be without power. Thank you guys! read more

Loved that the owner of the company supervised and many times came to make sure things were done correctly. I also loved that they were wearing a mask and even covering for their shoes. I would say they worked very hard until the job was finished. They worked on several issues at my house after a foundation problem and repair... you can imagine all that was done! Damaged tankless water heater (exterior). Electric off for a week and day after it came on leak was discovered. Ben from O&M responded within 24 hours found the leak and had to order part. The part came in 3 days; however, when it was replaced and pressure increased; it was evident that entire heater needed replacement. He located an exact new heater within a day and had it all back together again in another two days. Cost was reasonable; service was exceptional. Highly recommend O&M Plumbing - and Ben. read more

I just have to commend these guys on the service and professionalism they provided for me. My mobile Kitchen needed to be compliant with current code regulations. Andrew came out to quote a toilet and valve replacement, and ended up completing the work during the same visit. He walked us through what he'd be doing and how long it would take, and he delivered exactly as promised. He was careful, respectful, and really knew what he was doing. Have used O&M Plumbing for my several plumbing problems since 2018. They did good jobs with reasonable prices. So far every time, they let me know ahead before they came and they were on time. When I say they're the best, I'm not exaggerating…read more I called them because I had a clogged toilet that we couldn't unclog. Turns out, we had roots in our pipe and needed them to dig under our house and replace the pipes. They used a camera and showed me the roots, then took pictures every step of the way, later showing me my extremely clogged pipe. Johnny and David were professional, responsive, and willing to work around my schedule. But that's not actually the reason I'm leaving this review... While they were here, Plumbing Wizard Johnny Rivera asked me, "Do you have anything else you need help with?" So I told him about my ongoing issue with pipes banging that no one had been able to solve. I'd had five plumbers to my home trying to solve the issue, and no one could figure it out. This one would suggest this, that would would suggest that, but it never got better. Johnny asked me to make it happen, then ran around my house, inside and out to isolate the noise. (No one did that before). It took him to the street where he said that my pressure relief valve was making a horrible noise and should be replaced. I'd had it replaced before, but it hadn't solved the issue. Still, he said they needed to be replaced every 5-8 years if you have hard water (which I do) so I decided to go ahead and do it. While he was out there, he found that I had TWO pressure relief valves, like at some point, someone had put one in and just not looked to see if there was a second one. After that, he adjusted the pressure coming into my house. THE BANGING DISAPPEARED. This was YEARS of stress that he solved for me in one day. A new banging started when my washing machine turned on with hot water, but I knew why. Years ago, I'd had a slab leak, and the plumbers who fixed that rerouted the pipes through my ceiling but didn't fasten them to anything. I called back and Johnny and David came and fixed that too. They had to cut a hole in my ceiling to get to the pipes, but they were very concerned about not making a mess, and they fastened the drywall back into my ceiling for me. Now my house is utterly silent when the water runs and my toilet works great. These guys CARE about their job, which is so refreshing in a world of cynics. If you need excellent plumbing work, these are your guys.

They determined it was my outdoor nuvoH20 system which was growing bacteria and not actually putting any chemicals in the system. They gave me a reasonable quote to replace the system with a salt water softener and even worked around my present shed system so I didn't have to replace as much. Seth did a great job with the installation and replacement and even took the time to drain my hot water heater and put hydrogen peroxide in it to kill any left over bacteria for free. I really appreciate the thoroughness of their work. I also appreciate how communicative they were when I had to get electrician information for the softener to install the proper outlet. I'll be using them for plumbing needs going forward.
