After the city of Austin replace my water meter I started having a problem with water hammer. I tested my water pressure and found it on the high side. After some research, I decided to have the to have the Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) replaced. The original was near 25 years old and the adjustment nut had broken off. I prefer supporting independent contractors so I called Johnny Pipes. John was able to come out after a few days (this wasn't an emergency). He and Luke showed up on time and did a great job replacing the PRV also replacing the shut off valve which had become hard to turn. As a bonus John and Luke straightened out the flu vents sticking out of my roof that roofers had left in disarray. Thanks for that! So far the problem seems to be solved, but I will continue to monitor for water hammer over the next few days.
