Drop of water from p-trap.

Over a month ago I had Plumbing Outfitters install a farmhouse kitchen sink. I had already had a carpenter modify the cabinet so all Plumbing Outfitters had to do was put the sink in, attach the faucet and kitchen strainer, change the angle stops, and attach the new P-trap. In addition, I had them change the angle stop for the water line to the refrigerator. Since that time multiple issues have occurred: 1) the new angle stop and box was set over an inch behind the drywall leaving a void in the drywall. The pipe was also set at an angle. 2) Plumbing Outfitters came out again and replaced this angle stop with a bigger box which now fit in the drywall but seemed to be more slanted. 3) Then a few days later, I found a puddle of water under the sink P-trap. In searching for the cause, I found the P-trap was not only leaking but also that there was a 5 inch gap behind the rim of the sink that had not been caulked. 4) Plumbing Outfitters then sent a junior plumber out (a tradesman not a journeyman) and he found the leak and replaced the p-trap with a slightly better quality p-trap that came from a Plumbing supply company and not Home Depot. But he had trouble reattaching the kitchen basket strainer/drain so that it was now not level with the kitchen sink. Apparently his solution was to apply plumbers putty all the way around the gasket of the drain. His attempt to caulk the rim of the sink was to smear caulk all over it. 5) Finally the master plumber came out to fix the strainer. He also had trouble attaching it properly. He ended up telling me that I needed a deeper strainer and offered to get me one from his supplier, which I would pay for, and in the meantime attached a cheap stainless steel strainer. The next day he sent me a text saying that the part would be in in a few days. Eleven days later, I received a text saying the part was there. An appointment was scheduled the following Monday. On Monday, I received a call that the master plumber was on vacation and that the ORIGINAL plumber was available to do the install. Otherwise I would have to wait. I paid over $2,200.00 for this poor unprofessional service and cheap parts, and the sink is still not complete.

Altruistic AC & Heating

Altruistic AC & Heating

(49 reviews)

Altruistic Heating and Cooling exceeded our expectations during a stressful time…read more When the AC in a rental unit I manage went out during one of the hottest times of the year, I had to act quickly. After discovering that our usual AC guy was unavailable, I gathered estimates from several companies. The prices were shockingly high, so I created a detailed spreadsheet comparing different systems, pricing, discounts, rebates, and warranties. Out of all the companies, Altruistic Heating and Cooling stood out by offering the best price--thousands less than the others. They also went above and beyond by providing a portable AC unit to keep the tenants comfortable until the installation, which was a huge relief. While some companies tried to pressure me with last-minute offers and discounts, Altruistic's straightforward approach and reasonable pricing made the decision easy. They even included a free bonus service of two maintenance calls per year for four years. The installation went smoothly, and although I had to follow up to ensure the job was fully completed, Altruistic responded quickly and finished everything as promised. They had left a note in the final invoice saying, "We need to return some time (date removed) to install the flue pipe." As a property manager, I expect to handle follow-ups, so this wasn't a major issue for me. But I followed up with them to get this done before we made the payment. Although I felt Altruistic had been very trustworthy, I know people who have been burned by other companies after paying in full before the job was completed, so I wanted to make sure it was completely done. Daniel from the office contacted me, and they ensured everything was finished before I made the final payment. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Altruistic Heating and Cooling. They provided excellent service, great value, quality workmanship and their customer service was top-notch. I highly recommend them to anyone needing AC services. Follow-up: months later when winter weather arrived and the heat wasn't coming on, I called them in the evening expecting to hear back the next morning. They called me right away that evening and went out to the property first thing the next morning and fix the problem with no charge. I love it when companies do what they say they'll do and warranty their work.

Worst company you could possibly call. I would strongly recommend staying away from this company…read more They came to my house to fix an issue with my AC, and less than two months later, I was having the exact same problem. They came back out and supposedly fixed it. During that visit, they also dumped what looked like a whole bucket of rusty water directly into the middle of my driveway, leaving a large stain. While the technician was cleaning the outside AC unit, she apparently pinched some of the wiring when she put everything back together. A couple of hours later, the AC stopped working completely. I called the company, and she came back out. Somehow, she "missed" the wiring issue that she had caused and told me I needed a new fan motor that was going to cost me $1,200. I called the owner/boss and explained what happened. They refused to take responsibility for the problem and told me I would have to pay for the repair. I called another AC company the following morning. The technician immediately found the problem: the wiring had been pinched. He fixed it for about $50 in actual repair work, plus a $175 emergency service fee. So instead of the $1,200 repair I was told I needed, the actual problem was something that took very little to fix. Unfortunately, that's not even the worst part. During the first visit, the technician asked if I wanted her to give my phone number to another company they work with because I needed some moldy drywall taken care of. I said yes. That company never called me, and I never contacted them. Despite that, they showed up at my house while I was out of town. There was a nurse at my house caring for my daughter, who has special needs. The nurse told them she didn't know they were coming and that she was not the homeowner. They proceeded to enter my home anyway and went into my attic. That is completely unacceptable. Between the poor workmanship, attempting to charge me $1,200 for a problem they caused, refusing to take responsibility, damaging/staining my driveway, and a separate company showing up unannounced and entering my home while I wasn't there after being told they weren't expected, I would not trust this company anywhere near my home again. Do yourself a favor and call someone else.
