AC motor started acting up. Would run for a few hours, then stop and make a loud humming noise. After contacting several places and not being able to have any one out for two to three days my wife found Dave's. Within 30 mins they called me and in two hours a tech knocked on the door. Quickly identified it was the motor, part and bracket was in stock. Roughly three hours later Dave returned and had us up and running in an hour. Great service and Dave was a great and friendly tech. Dave's will not return our calls or emails. We wake up sweating every night. It's affected our personal life and work life. When the outside unit turns on, it makes a loud "snap" sound, and the lights flicker. We will try other means, but be aware before you go with this company. When a business doesn't bother calling back in regards to one of their drivers almost side-swiping two vehicles, including mine, within 3 minutes, I give zero respect. I was bringing home my son from surgery at Dell Children's on Monday evening and their driver got into the left turn lane then changed his mind. If I hadn't been watching closely and braked hard, he would've slammed into me when he decided to jerk back into my lane. Then he quickly got into the right lane without looking for others but just as fast, swerved into the left lane again almost taking out a truck in front of me. With the storms that rolled through last night, our lights flickered and then the power went out for a moment. When everything came back on our ac was no longer working. Paul arrived the next morning quickly after our landlord called. He was kind and efficient, quickly working out that the motor in our inner unit was fried. He let me know he would be back later today although he didn't know the time. About 6pm I started to worry because it is heating up outside and we have a baby. It just took a call and he let me know he had one more stop but then would be headed our way. He stayed here until 9pm to make sure our unit was working and cooling our place down! Paul was here for our 6 month maintenance. He arrived on time and was dressed in the appropriate PPE at my request. He accessed the attic and performed his functions and ran bleach in the drain. He then worked on the condensing unit including cleaning. Everything was great and he communicated everything to me and left a copy of report on my bench. I contracted Dave because the manufacturer for my furnace directed me to him. I should have just went with my previous ac guy but I didn't. Dave came and told me a product was defective and suggested I order a new one thru him. I, of course, wanted to make sure if the said product was in warranty or not. After a bunch of going back in forth with Dave and my old AC guy (who also wouldn't help me because he wanted the job), I wasn't able to get an answer because apparently to find out if something is in warranty with Robert Madden (wholesale distributor), only a certified tech could find out. Dave took my money to half ass fix my furnace and never took the time to find out if my defective piece was in warranty or not. But of course he wouldn't, he just wanted me to spend ridiculous money to buy a part thru him. My furnace only works upstairs now. read more

Well I had some minor flooding from my A/C. Mark from Dave's HVAC came out on fathers day and fixed the problem in about 20 mins. He was supposed to charge $75 for the service but only charged $65. I have used Dave's AC for 10 years and have spent in excess of 20,000.00 dollars for not only my home but rentals that I own as well. i was told today to "find another AC company" when I called into the office, (rather heated-no pun intended), to complain about the lack of communication. The control board for my 1996 upstairs unit went out on a streak of 100+ degree days making half of my house unlivable. I built a 2350sf house in 2010-2011 and acted as the general contractor on the project. Dave's was recommended to me by my electrician because he had just hired Dave's to do his own A/C. Of all the bids I received Dave's was the lowest. Our home was built following many of the Green Building Codes in the City of Austin's guide and efficiency was of utmost importance to us. I ended up working with Mark most of the time and he was very knowledgeable despite how young he looked. For instance, he knew what size system we would need just by walking through our framed-out house. BUT, I insisted that he do a Manual J (ultimately the City of Austin required it anyway) to pin down the exact size needed for our home and he was right on the money after all. That was impressive. I went with a Carrier Infinity Series 3.5 ton, rated at 18 SEER - the highest energy efficiency I could afford. It has three zones and all can be independently controlled. Our city inspection process was complicated because the City had just changed its requirements for HVAC installers and we had to jump through many more hoops than Dave was prepared for, but his company did everything required and did it quickly. At the last minute we found out we needed a separate Energy test to be done to determine if the proper air flow reached each and every room. After a few tweaks to sealing the ductwork, which Dave's did without a complaint, we passed our inspection on time. But the true test has now come and gone: the hottest Texas summer on record. Not only has our system performed exceptionally well (and is very quiet) but our highest electric bill for the summer was $111. That speaks for itself. Dave's A/C and their entire team and office staff were the best - Mark, Wendy, and Dave himself worked very hard to get our system installed quickly and professionally. They were patient with me as I learned about the process and they did everything required to get our HVAC passed by the City. They were incredible. I would recommend Dave's to anyone installing a system - they know what they are doing and are priced competitively. We are very happy with our HVAC! read more

I am assigning a 1 star rating to this review, as there is no option for zero stars. "Dave's" was hired prior to the purchase of our new home, to look into/remedy a furnace that wasn't functioning. The invoice states that he "bled air from the gas line" and "it fired up". Well thanks to their stellar misdiagnosis/lack of attention to the situation, our system failed - in winter (after we moved in). BTW, kids love waking up in a freezing cold house in the morning. So...did he come out and take a look or attempt to get it running? Nope. He ***DOESN'T DO WARRANTY WORK*** (his words). Therefore, we used our home warranty company and paid a costly co-pay to discover the problem. Apparently, he (or his employee) was so sharp as to not check the most basic of HVAC show-stoppers: the air filter. Yep. Failed to inspect the air filter. At least I hope so. My tenant at my office building was reporting that the AC was not blowing out cold air. Called Dave's Heat & Air and spoke to a very courteous and professional representative ( I forgot her name) . She explained that all her technicians were out and the soonest they would arrive would be tomorrow at 4pm. Bob did arrive at 5pm after they had called and said he would be late. He went through the whole system and concluded that the Freon needed to be replenished. He explained the whole process and appeared to be very knowledgeable. They called the next morning and verified my credit card. I didn't give 5 stars because I want to make sure the problem is indeed solved and their response would be positive. I used Dave's several times on my home and my rental property with positive results. However, the last time I used them on my rent house they charged me $350 and then didn't send a detailed invoice despite requests. Then, 3 weeks after the last service call I find a charge of $178.71 on my credit card statement for a supposed ordered part they were waiting on that I didn't authorize. I have a part that's failing and when I called to see about a replacement they told me it would cost $128 for them to come out and replace it. They came out on a Saturday charged me $100- then said they had to come back out because they got the wrong identification numbers off the parts and had to come back out to make sure they got the write one. Then 3 missed appointments later they say they will come out Friday and fix the part, and of course they never did, the part was never replaced, and they heater is still broken. then when I tried to call them back they said they would return my phone call in 2 minutes. They didn't, they said they would call me back in 10 minutes, they didn't, after 5 phone call backs they never returned my call. A week later and my heater is still not working. This company serviced my ac unit a few years ago and determined that my two lay down units required replacement. I knew the units were old so I agreed. Well yesterday I came home to a flooded house and my ceiling was caved in. Well as I was shocked I called them back to tell them my ac clogged and the water leaked out of the pan. She put me on hold and said they could come out Monday. Well yesterday was Thursday. Obviously they didn't care about their past workmanship. Well luckily they couldn't come out bc after tt my insurance and having another ac company come out we found out they didn't install two safety float switches. With a new install it's required to have these safety switches so incase the pan filled up the ac would shut off and not cause a flood. Well they will be hearing from farmers and their lawyers soon bc they didn't do a simple task and now they are responsible for the damages. I trusted them and their techs todo a job that I wasn't trained in and now my investment has damages w weeks of repair. read more

I am absolutely in awe of this company. Owned by a husband and wife team they kick the competition's butt when it comes to customer service. My A/C unit caught on fire on Saturday when it was 101 degrees out. Dave (the owner) came out at 8:30 pm to take a look at it. He found it was not repairable, gave me a very reasonable quote and said he could have it installed the next day. I put it off for a couple of days (for money reasons) but as soon as I called them (Tuesday morning) they ordered the unit and had it installed that night! this is the worse company ever!! i won't recommend anybody using these people. first of all lady who pick up the phone are rude, second i call these people on thursday and they said they come out on friday but they didn't come out until saturday and they charge extra due to they have to come out on saturday is that making any sense? third, the first time they came out and charge me for more than 500$ but didn't fix the problem and i call them again said the problem is not fix so they came out second charge me for 400$ but still the problem is not fix. until third time they came out and just a cap not close that's all and still they charge me again for more than 200$ for the problem that they should fix for the first time. Customer Service - Don't expect any if it is WARRANTY Work. We had a new inside and outside unit installed by Dave's in Nov 2010. While installing the unit one of their workers stepped on the ceiling and pushed a hole thru it. They never acknowledged the damage. In the year and a half we have had the unit we have had to have them come out 3 times. One of the breakdowns ended with water damage to the ceiling. This last breakdown (coils frozen on a unit that is 1 1/2 old) we called to report the problem on Tues eve and they said they would call us back. After another call from us, they finally called us back. By that time, they said they couldn't do anything and would call us again in the morning. When they called the next morning, they couldn't get us scheduled until the next day. Even though we explained that we only had someone available that day to wait for them. So another day of a hot house. And I will have to take a day off work to wait for them to arrive to complete the WARRANTY WORK. I guess they only give decent service to those that will be paying cash, not the ones that are under WARRANTY. As some of the other reviewers said BEWARE! read more
