Came here for a solo lunch on a cold fall day. Good choice! Street parking around the corner. Service was great- everyone said hi and bye to me. Food was great too. Loved the noodles and the broth. Great atmosphere- there's bar styled seating, tables, and chairs facing out to the street.
Came in on a non-busy time @ 5 pm and it was not busy at all. I ordered ramen and it came in like 5 minutes so fast. My only issue is that the egg and meat that weren't in the broth were a little cold so I'm docking down a point. The restaurant is pretty cute and it'd be a good spot on a dark evening.
This place is located near the Ballard Farmer's Market that happens every Sunday. There are not too many seats inside and can fill up fast. We went here around opening on a Sunday and it filled up quickly with other people shortly after. I ordered a ramen combo, that came with 3 pieces of chicken karaage and a side salad. The honey garlic karaage was very good, I liked the sweet savory flavor. I ordered the black garlic ramen, which came with a piece of chashu and soft boiled egg. I enjoyed the broth a lot and liked the chewiness of the noodles. My husband ordered the spicy tan tan ramen, which also tasted very good. It came with wider noodles and seasoned ground pork. I would highly recommend coming here.
My father in law wanted to try this spot for awhile so we had lunch. We ordered some chicken karage & edamame as an appetizer. I thought it was tasty & it was very fresh & hot. The edamame is served hot as well with a sprinkling of salt. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and added bamboo shoots to it. It comes with bean sprouts, corn, tender bits of simmered pork, half of a seasoned egg and green onions. You also get to choose your spice level, I only ordered mild & it was plenty for me. My husband got the spicy tan tan ramen which had a nice rich & creamy broth flavored with sesame paste, My father in law got the Black Garlic Ramen salt based broth, a slice of the pork belly chashu, 1/2 of a seasoned egg, bean sprouts, green onions, fried onions & black garlic oil. Their noodle texture is soft with a slight chew. Our servers were attentive, we spilled a full cup of hot water & they were at our table with a roll of paper towels immediately. I was very appreciative of that. The restaurant is clean and cozy. I would definitely go back for their ramen, and also have a side if karage which is possible by making your meal a combo fir an up charge, you also get a house salad included in the set.
An unassuming ramen place that delivers the goods I had the black garlic ramen -- and it was delicious. It's a tiny place with an intimate but unsophisticated atmosphere. The staff is helpful and friendly. It's a good spot for Ramen, nothing fancy, but ramen done well.
Craving ramen while on our vacation in Seattle, we decided to try this recommendation from Yelp and we weren't disappointed. Ambiance was cozy - pretty small inside with only a few tables (the rest were counter / "bar" style), but we were lucky to get a seat quickly. Service was friendly. The waitress explained the different types of ramen/broth as well as which ones were most popular (FYI it is R4 - Spicy Miso Tonkotsu, R5 - Arashi Ramen, and R6 - Black Garlic Ramen). We opted for R4, two orders of R5, and R2 - Shoyu Tonkotsu. All were great! The tonkotsu broths were creamy and satisfying. The charsiu was tasty. We also started with a honey garlic chicken karaage appetizer and it was yummy! Happy we discovered this place!
This is the best ramen I've ever had, and I've been to Irvine CA. Small place and it's crowded but the service is good.
Awesome, tasty Ramen! Karaage was very good also. Authentic Japanese feel to the restaurant. Service was was very attentive. Haven't had Ramen like this since my last trip to Japan in 2019. Definitely worth a visit!
Don't let the bleak exterior scare you off! Japanese friend loves having good ramen in this quaint Japanese ramen shop with a retro feel. Small place with ~5-6 tables for 12 and counter seating by the window for ~6. Food comes out pretty quickly. 1/2size extra noodles for $3 Combo = any ramen + side salad + appetizer for +$6.75-$7.95 1. Side Salad: dressed spring greens 2. a1 Karaage: 3 pieces; no just out of the fryer juiciness & crispiness but was warm and tasty 3. a3 Gyoza: 3 pieces are pan-fried 4. a4 Takoyaki: 3 pieces of octopus pancake balls topped with bonito (dried fish shavings) are very good r1. Shio Tonkotsu Ramen with egg and thin wheat noodles $11.75 5* r6. Black Garlic Ramen black garlic oil gives a subtle taste of garlic & comes with thin wheat noodles. Very good (but love thick egg noodles so will ask for it next time) 5* r7. Tan Tan Men Ramen extra rich tasting with sesame paste and ground pork. No bean sprouts. Comes with thick egg noodles. 5* Service no issues. Wasn't rushed but because it is a small place I didn't feel like we could stick around to chat there. Luckily there's a tea shop Miro across the street for that. Located -on the SW corner of NW Market St & 20th Ave NW -on the east side of the little triangle block read more
Arashi Ramen was the perfect, cozy lunch spot on an overcast Seattle day. We might have timed it well, but there was no wait and our food came out so quickly. It was very flavorful and tasty. Definitely recommend if you want to see what the hype is about! read more
I'm certainly an amateur when it comes to ramen. I've always passed it off as a lowly soup meal that would never be able to fill up a starved mountain man such as myself. I was proven incredibly wrong by Arashi on my visit there last week. After a long adventurous day of searching far and wide for new species of mountain goats, I decided to venture on in to Arashi per the recommendation of a well trusted comrade, and local Seattle food expert. I was surprised by the size of the place, but the line of excited soupers gave me reason to believe that I was in good, brothy hands. The octopus ball appetizer was a fantastic start to my night. I'm not sure exactly what is inside of these puppies, but they are a delectable surprise when you pop 'em in your mouth. I was directed towards the spicy miso tonkatsu, and it did not let me down. The flavor of this soup was outstanding, and the heat gave me a little challenge as I was making my way through this monstorously sized bowl. The best part of the dish was the chopped pork. The gang at Arashi tosses in some nice hunks of meat that other ramen places just don't come close to. A MUST have for Seattle cuisine. Arashi gets the Nate H Stamp Of Approval (TM). read more

Solid ramen spot. Flavorful broth, good service, and a couple of fully veggie options. Was a bit of the hole in the wall. Would go to again, but is likely not my #1 ramen place in seattle. read more

Amazing ramen. Very flavorful. The thin noodles are perfect too. I had the veggie ramen with the mild spicy paste, and it was an explosion of flavors without overwhelming spice. The tofu was perfect in flavor and texture. The dine-in is better for ramen as the noodles retain their best texture and the ramen comes fresh and hot. Their decor is simple and minimal, the food is the star. The ramen is better than Danbo's and yet I did not have to go through an excruciatingly long wait to get a table. What a hidden gem. read more

I'm only reviewing on here because I tried to call the restaurant several times and there was no answer. Arashi is my all time favorite spot. I crave it all day every day. Spicy miso is my go to with chopped chashu... except I BARELY got any chopped chashu... This has happened the last 4 times I've ordered. Sometimes I even cough up the extra money for the extra chashu and even then I'm skimped. I'm disappointed because this place is a gem and I don't know if I'm going to be skimped on my next order. I hope they see this and get back to where they were. read more

We were seated quickly. Once you order your food it's out within five minutes. Everything was so delicious. First place I've seen have Takoyaki. read more
Arashi Ramen was fantastic! We came on a Wednesday night around 7 and didn't have to wait long for a table. The restaurant itself is a little small so you might have to wait if it's busy. We were greeted with very friendly and QUICK service. The atmosphere felt fun and authentic. We got 2 appetizers and 2 ramen dishes and all of it was delicious. Note if you get the spicy ramen it is very spicy (but tasty)! We will definitely be coming back. read more
Three words: Black Garlic Ramen. Arashi does it the best, and each bowl is the most comforting, savory and flavorful thing on the menu. But you really can't go wrong with whatever you pick--all of the broths are simmered for 16 hours, and you can really taste the complexity. We always order a BGR each and split an Asahi beer. The beer comes in a bottle but they also bring chilled glasses...nice touch! Arashi's prices are comparable or less than what I've seen at other places in Capitol Hill and other neighborhoods. Staff is friendly and prompt. Eat here! read more

Proof that not all Arashi locations are created equal! I have previously been to the Edmonds location that I wasn't impressed with and it seems like that location has closed since. Back to the Ballard spot! Came here on a chilly Seattle fall evening and I was definitely not disappointed and left with a very full and happy belly. Ordered takoyaki (not as an add on option to ramen; got the full order), spicy miso tonkotsu, spicy tantan, and hot sake. Takoyaki had the perfectly amount of bonito flakes and while it wasn't all that filled with tako, it hit the spot. What I was super impressed with was the ramen. Noods cooked perfectly with a chew - and a deep broth to appreciate the time it took to develop the flavors. Yum. All paired with a hot bottle of sake was a perfect dinner. I'll have to make this place part of my regular rotation, I can't believe my previous experience at the Edmonds location prevent me from giving this place a try for so long. Would love to try the karaage next time instead of Takoyaki to see how the apps/side dish stacks up! read more
Wanted something warm and simply one night on our vacation so decided to try this place because it was close to where we were staying. There is only street parking, like most places in the area so you may have to walk a little. It's a cozy little place with a few tables so we had to wait a bit but didn't mind. The service is fast and friendly. The food is delicious. We are from Hawaii and can get ramen around every corner but I have to say that the ramen is as good as most places in Hawaii. The soup base is delicious and the variety of toppings they can add so much more to your already amazing ramen. If you're in the area, I highly suggest you check them out. read more

Was shopping near by and craving ramen so decided to check out Arashi Ramen. We came I'm on a Saturday at 4pm and were able to get seating right away. We ordered the gyzo, Karage and Takoyaki as appetizers and I got the creamy vegan ramen bowl. The gyzo was okay not too flavorful and was only somewhat crispy on one of the sides. The Karage was also just okay it didn't come with any sauce and felt like it needed some sauce or additional flavor as it was kind of dry to eat so would recommend getting a karage with sauce. It was my first time trying Takoyaki and it was super flavorful and sweet, would highly recommend! The vegan ramen broth has so much flavor! The tofu was bland as it wasn't seasoned so I tried to drench it in the broth. I love soft boiled eggs so I had to add one on top and it was definitely worth it! I really enjoyed the veggies that were added in the dish. The ramen was also cooked well and I really enjoyed how thin it was. The portion sizes for the prices are amazing! I got full and still had so much ramen left over so could def portion the leftovers for a second meal. The service was great! They were really friendly and came by with waters and the check just in time. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area and craving ramen! read more
Hiram M. Chittenden was a huge fan of Asian food, a confirmed noodle fiend. With that in mind, my girlfriend and I decided to eat here before visiting the Ballard Locks. I got Hiram's favorite (not called this on the menu), the Tonkotsu. It brought me to that day in 1969, July 4th to be exact, when the locks were dedicated to him. It was sunny, and the wind wisped through my hair. The sour pickled ginger combined with the savory pork belly was the best combination since the fresh waters of Lake Union melded with the briny deep of the Puget Sound. This experience may never be duplicated, but perhaps it's best. Something so beautiful deserves to be one-of-a-kind. read more

I come here quite often and each experience is always great. Their broth and noodles are very good. The egg is my favorite part, and it's seasoned and half-boiled to perfection. Their spice level is accommodating and can be even spicer if you ask. It's a smaller restaurant but it's nice and cozy. read more
Was on my way to the Ballard farmers market and happened to pass by arashi ramen. Couldn't get it off our minds so decided to swing by after the farmers market. We got the spicy miso tonkotsu and the honey garlic garage bowl. The ramen was SO good and SO SO flavorful. Would most definitely recommend getting it! We were seated immediately and the service was really nice as well. Will be back read more

After visiting Japan it's tough to be impressed by ramen in the US, so I went ahead and tried some of the hyped up spots here in Seattle and for the most part they were just alright. Now, Arashi may not be the best ramen I've ever had, but it's definitely my favorite in Seattle so far. Chewy noodles, nice thick broth, and great chashu. One thing that usually disappoints me is the egg, it doesn't have any special flavor, and it's usually cold-ish when the bowl arrives. Anyway, most other places in the city range from 2 to 3.5 stars to me, but Arashi is a solid 4 stars, and I can walk there from home which is a huge plus! read more

Service: 5/5 Staff here is really friendly and sweet!! My friend and I got here lunchtime on a Sunday (before the rush) and only really had to wait about 15 minutes. They popped back with us at around 10min of waiting and sincerely apologized for the wait - haha thought this was really sweet when it wasn't that big of a deal. Consistently checked in with us at our table and made sure everything was good :) Food: 5/5 I got the Shio ramen, my friend got the Shoyu, and we shared a Honey Garlic Karaage. The ramen was really good (nothing crazy, but it was good). The Karaage though was delicious and I HIGHLY recommend the honey garlic. I love karaage and have had it at a couple places but this one might be one of the top ones I've had Notes: - Place is really small so try not to come during peak hours or else you might have to wait awhile - A plus: it's one of the few ramen places I know in Seattle that are open before 3/4pm read more

Oh, Arashi Ramen. Honestly, I often find myself making excuses for why it's a good day to order Arashi, and living in the Frelard area, it's been really difficult for me to ever come up with a reason why I shouldn't, hehe! I'm a little picky when it comes to ramen, especially in terms of flavorful broth, as I had quite a few favorites near to my heart in San Diego, and have had a difficult time finding others just as tasty. Well, a good friend of mine solved that problem by introducing me to the deliciousness that is Arashi Ramen, and I've been hooked ever since! My go-to has been the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu ramen -- it's always just the right amount of spice, full of flavor, hard to resist eating the entire bowl, full of delicious veggies, and savory noodles. My partner isn't the biggest ramen fan, but no worries -- he does enjoy the Japanese Curry Rice Bowl as well as their Gyoza! While I've enjoyed Arashi Ramen countless of times, I've actually only dined-in once! That's right -- Arashi has got the take-out ramen business DOWN, and I've never had a complaint when ordering take-out here. The food is always made quickly, fresh, and just as hot as I'd like it if I were dining in. Arashi Ramen has been one of my favorite businesses to support during these trying times, and definitely on the top of my list for ramen in Seattle! read more

I originally wrote my "review draft" back in June 2016, but haven't came often enough to give this place the chance it deserves to fairly rate it. I've come back often enough since that I can safely say this is one of the top-3 ramen stops in the Seattle area, right up there with Ramen Danbo and Betsutenjin. 1) VARIETY/SELECTION: 9.5/10. I'm a little disappointed that you can't customize the noodles (thickness/cooking type) or broth thickness, but the selection they have is already pretty good, but the best part is that they're consistent. The drink selection is authentic and amazing (one of the people I went with used to live in Japan; he made the comment that they have a Japanese soda that he has rarely found in his 4+ years of living in the USA, and 20+ years of living in Canada). 2) FRESHNESS: 10/10. Every dish is made fresh to order; from the chicken karaage / gyoza to any of their ramen selections (including the chashu in the bowl, OMG!), you can tell they put time and effort into their craft. 3) VALUE FOR MONEY: 9/10. This place is a little more pricey than it's Capitol Hill counterparts, but given the fact that this is the only noteworthy ramen place in this end of Ballard, I'm not disappointed. The prices stay fairly consistent with Arashi Ramen's Edmonds counterpart, the menu being identical, but the portion sizes are big, and I've never left hungry. 4) SERVICE: 9.5/10. Despite the restaurant space being somewhat small (I like to call it "intimate"), there are multiple serving staff on hand to help with everything you could need. All of them are incredibly friendly - my favourite person there is Nataya, who's been working there at least a couple of years at the time of this review! 5) CONSISTENCY / FIRST IMPRESSION: 9.5/10. So normally I would just rate this on first impression, but given how consistently good my experience here has been from 2016 through 2018 (I've visited at least 10 times in that period), I have to say that this place holds it's reputation as a consistently good experience. OVERALL: 9.5/10. This place is a must-visit if you're only in town for a few days, but even as a local, you need to at least *try* this place! If this place isn't in your top 3 (or at least top 5), you need to have a more open mindset! Random notes: Atmosphere is very intimate, quaint - wasn't busy when I went the first three times, but this place gets incredibly busy, especially during "rush hours" like weekday dinner-time First time I went I got: - Arashi ramen combo with 3pc karaage & salad. - J-Pop drink Second time: Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen, also pretty good Third time time: - 9pm Thursday visit (2016) - spicy garlic ramen w/ karaage and Asahi black (RIP - this brand has died in favour of Sapporo Black, which is decent, but not as good) - smoothness reminds me of a Stella with a texture & flavour of a Guinness - spicy miso Tonkotsu with J-Pop grapefruit Fourth time: - 5pm on a Sunday (2016) - super busy! Arashi ramen w/ gyoza combo & jpop white peach read more

So good! I got the spicy miso tonkotsu and it was everything I want in ramen - hot, a little spicy, and delicious toppings! We got Spicy Miso Tonkotsu, Black Garlic Ramen, and Chashu Bowl. The broths are so yummy and full of flavors. You can choose the level of spicy for spicy ramen and it could get very hot, which I really appreciate for these cold rainy days. My favorite is the Black Garlic Ramen, really good sesame broth. The space can be a bit tight. Very reasonable price! read more

Safe to say Arashi Ramen has two new fans. Think you don't like ramen? Think again. This place will completely change your perception. We came on a weekday and there wasn't an empty table. Plenty of to-go orders as well. This place is the real deal - believe the hype. Definitely a must try!! We will be back... and soon. -KM read more
