Tamari Bar roll
Danielle L.

I've been to this place twice in the last week and a half. So good, everything is so fresh as well. The happy hour is a couple dollars off their normal menu. I really enjoyed the chiraishi bowl and tako wasabi with such fresh seafood. The curry was a little salty, but it was ok when paired with the rice. I also really enjoyed the BB sukiyaki which had nice flavor with a little mala. Service was good as well

Food was amazing! Their nigiris are some of the best! Bibimbap was good but the cheese made it heavy Skip the yuzu ice cream cover in chocolate, nothing like ice cream. Drinks were good too! On the whole a very good izakaya Service was quick all the staff were friendly and quick. Clean bathrooms. L shaped seating area, great for small groups but had a couple large group tables too.

I have only been here for the rotating daily lunch specials and they average at $10 for quality Japanese style lunch. To be honest probably some of the cheaper lunch specials in the city. They are usually changing so it's hard to pinpoint but every $10 meal I've gotten is so good. I think the lunch specials are new because I'm the only person here but it's bomb and I highly recommend. I always leave full too!

One of my favorite spots! Tamari Bar is a great place for almost all occasions! I have made a stop here for a casual night out, for a quick lunch, for special occasions like birthdays and Valentines, it has a great vibe for almost anything! It can get quite busy during dinner rush so a reservation is recommended, however there is a $25 deposit that is required but it does go towards your check. I have gotten daily specials here and restaurant staples as well. My absolute favorite thing to get here is the tamari roll which is dressed so perfectly! Their happy hour is also great and their pork bao buns are also AMAZING! Their bento sets are also a great choice and are huge. The price point is on the higher end but for the amount of food and variety, I would say it is quite reasonable, especially during happy hour. The service is always very nice and friendly and the chefs are super speedy. I have never experienced waiting a long time for food after ordering. I will be back when I am in the area!

A unique take on Japanese cuisine adapted for Seattle tastes and ingredients. Cilantro pesto udon with flash fried brussel sprouts and Japanese eggplant was delicious.

Wagyu bites were so good and the ramen was nice and fatty - solid izakaya in Capitol Hill. Love that the bathroom had mouthwash!

Tamari bar is such a cute spot to eat at on a night out. I personally like the vibe and decorations here more than its sister restaurant, Rondo. I happened to come on the last day of restaurant week, so I tried their special dinner box which looked pretty, but the taste failed in comparison. At both restaurants, I have not been impressed with their sashimi. It tastes a little fishy and honestly the rest of the box wasn't outstanding either. I did also get to try their hot stone wagyu which was good and a fair price. The service was attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. I think if I ever come again, I'll just stick to ordering the katsu curry.

=== Overall === Very cool place, good vibes to hang with friends and hit or miss food and drinks. === Food === I came for Seattle restaurant week and my friend and I both got their box. Half of the items in the box were very flavorful- I'm looking at the sashimi, macaroni salad, and chicken. The others were unmemorable except for the deep fried crab, which my friend and I couldn't even get past our first bites. That unfortunately took this place down a lot food wise in my opinion. I would get their sashimi, and their drinks looked good! Side note: I've tried baiten (their connected dessert place and was not impressed. Would skip). === Service === Friendly and fast service. No problems here. They ask everyone if they have a reservation so would be good if you had one. === Ambiance === Absolutely love the 80s Japanese decor with ultraman & ghibli. Cool ambiance and they keep it clean.

Great service, great happy hour, and great vibes in Cap Hill. Came here with coworkers and we were here with hours! Love the ambiance and decor. It felt like it'd be a great place for girls' night and date night alike. Drinks were flowing and strong. Happy hour deals were aplenty. We enjoyed rolls, sashimi, bao, cabbage salad, chicken skin, and more. Everything was good.

AHI TUNA

Overall, I would really recommend this place! I had a mixed good experience but the service was fantastic, the food came out very fast and played beautifully, and it was very fun and lively in there without being obnoxious. I loved the ahi tuna sashimi- perfect texture and delish accoutrements. It also was a really good portion for the price. As for the thing I didn't like: the cilantro udon was essentially inedible for me. The udon was what i would describe as chewy and slimy and there was a taste in the cilantro pesto that was quite foul to me. My partner also didn't like it. We couldn't figure out what the strange taste could be as we both like cilantro. I would absolutely recommend the restaurant as a whole, just maybe not the cilantro udon.

Cool vibe and yummy food! This spot is in the heart of Cap Hill, and has such a live fun vibe. The food is fresh, house made, and a blast of flavors. The katsu curry had the perfect umami house made deep curry flavor. You can taste the flavor pop of spices with a crispy chicken katsu. Every bite was heavenly. Great drinks and bar scene. The servers are all super friendly and welcoming.

I've been wanting to try this place again and I finally did today. Delicious food and drink as expected. I tried hayashi rice bibimbap in a stone bowl piping hot and gooey with lots of cheese and fried Brussel sprouts and eggplants on top. I also ordered tora gozen which is 9 little appetizers, 3 kinds of sashimi, curry, pickled cucumbers, chicken with syungiku, eel with cuc sunomono, aji fry, soft shell crab. I had everything I wanted to try minus dandan noodle. Everything was satisfying balanced flavor, great quality, the right temperature. So happy that the quality of their food has not changed. Hope to be back soon.

Tamari Bar and Rondo are among my favorite places because of their rotating menu, food variety, and yuzu drinks. We come here almost every week. The 206 curry is iconic and there isn't anything we hate except for maybe the tora gozen "appetizer tower" because they no longer serve it as a tower and instead give you a 9-square prison tray and the food didn't seem fresh. If you arrive before 6pm for happy hour, you will likely get a table. Otherwise you'd need a reservation.

I don't think so. It's pretty small and tables are close. Unless it's a service dog. Might be able to leash it just outside the eating e. Area near your table if you get the one close to that.

Do they accept reservations?

Yes they do.

Do they accept credit card or cash only?

They accept both :)

I'm also from out of state so everytime i went I wasn't able to try it out until this time! It was definitely worth it! It's a small restaurant located across from another sushi place. The restaurant itself has a warm and cozy atmosphere. We ordered the ochazuke, the unigiri (mentaiko mayo and the mentaiko special), as well as the agedashi tofu. The ochazuke was very good! I ordered it with grilled eel and after the original dashi broth was added into the rice, the dish was just perfect! I definitely recommend trying this dish! I would go back just for it! The eel was made perfectly and was soft and flavorful. I also loved the mentaiko special onigiri (cheese and spicy roe)! It was so so delicious! We ordered the mentaiko special togo as it was so good we needed to bring it back to california hahaaha. All in all, definitely a five star restaurant I would definitely recommend!! For parking, since it is a busy area, we ended up parking at uwajimaya which has free parking if you make a minimum purchase of $20. We just bought some snacks and that covered parking.

The restaurant is definitely tiny and they do have an outdoor spot but they don't offer outdoor dining, so not sure what that is about. Although if they are full, they ask for your name and it seems like that is where you're supposed to wait to get called. I know this as we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait so we went to walk around but when we returned, we had to get put on the list again as they had apparently called us and we weren't there. I felt like they should take numbers as well because it felt unfair that we returned within the time frame but then we were told in a rude manner for no reason. But it turns out the service here is definitely not warm or good as the employees barely check in on you, took a long time to do things, and I also don't like that we all ordered and mentioned we are doing four separate checks but our onigiri was put together with another person's order in our party. I suppose they do offer a plate on the table but just thought it was a bit annoying. The interior here is cute and cozy. I love the wind chimes above the table we were sitting at. The name and mascot is a fun idea for their restaurant! I did notice that there were a lot of random wet spots which sucked as I had a backpack with me so I had to have it on my lap (I had a seat that was against the wall so couldn't put it on the chair). The menu isn't too big and I definitely want to come back to try the ochazuke as I've always wanted to try it out. But since everyone in my party were getting onigiri and they said the onigiri here is good, I went with the ebi mayo onigiri. I was surprised by the size of the shrimp tempura, it was massive but it was delicious. It wasn't the best shrimp tempura but it was filling and not bad for the price. I also got their lychee fizz which was very refreshing with a satisfying fizz, plus they apparently make the lychee syrup in house. My friends got their other drinks which looked amazing too so definitely want to try those out too.

Moonraker was one of the rolls we got. I highly recommend it! In addition to that we got an order of the Spicy Tofu... again delicious and made an excellent side with our sushi!
