If I could give a negative 5 I would. I used this company last year 2011 and the guys where awesome. They arrived promptly at 8:00 am and removed the items from 4600 North Cumberland, Chicago, Illinois 60657; then they headed over to my storage unit at 4750 N. Ronald in Harwood Heights, Illinois 60706 to collect boxes stored from my 2 bedroom home months before; and then we headed on to 1014 West Irving Park Road 60613, where we were moving. This was done in less than 3 hours with 3 men. Exceptional care was taken and nothing was damaged or broken. We of course generously tipped them. Quite naturally I called then to move me from 1014 West Irving Park to our condo around the corner at 3950 North Lake Shore Drive 1225E, Chicago, Illinois 60613, which is less than a ten minute walk from 1014 West Irving Park address. It took them 5 hours to complete the job (an excessive and unreasonable amount of time to move me); they broke my stuff, and left my some of my property in the parking lot at 1014 West Irving Park Road. To begin with they were one half hour late arriving to the job, when the owner called to apologize for the delay and I said no problem. When I called him to complain that the move was already into 31/2 hours and after checking the truck it would be awhile he stated that I should have ordered 4 men (when I placed the order the owner said he remembered me and that 3 men where enough). After the 4th hour I called him again and he stated his men told him that they had to walk a block to get to our elevator and that the elevators where small. I invited the owner several times during the course of conversation to come by and see for him. Each time he declined stating he did not have time to go out and check out locations. Suggesting I should have ordered four men. There is no freight elevator but it should not have taken 5 hours to move me in. When they finally completed the job I called him again stating that I was not happy with the $465.00 bill presented to me. While going over the items moved in my apartment, I asked about my red dolly, one of the men said "oops we left that in the parking lot". I asked about the wheels on my dresser and he said "it just came off and handed it to me", when I got to the bedroom and saw how dirty my mattress was I got on the phone to call the owner again and the guy I had been talking to left my unit, leaving the driver and the other gentlemen who claim not to know anything. I told the owner that I would be filing a complaint and he stated the most he could do was to take $50.00 off the bill. I paid the bill and returned to 1014 West Irving Park Road but none of the items were in the parking lot. As I started to unpack items that were damaged and broken, I decided to take pictures of the dresser, the damaged desk we just purchased at the beginning of this year, and my soiled $700.00 queen size mattress. They should not be allowed to get away with this. read more

Absolutely mind blown! I made the decision to hire movers last minute and called these guys. They came the next day, EARLY and busted ass to get everything done in the time I had booked for. They were courteous and efficient and just great guys overall! They were incredibly mindful of my belongings, meticulously pointing out pre-existing damages and being extra careful with items that I had carelessly packed. They finished early too!!!! This is THE WORST moving company i have ever worked with. The most unprofessional & unreliable company and staff in Chicago. Just to give you a little idea, they quit in the middle of a job, without telling me they were quitting. They left my boxes on the steps of my apartment and left. Then never answered a phone call after. This took place on the busiest moving weekend in the city(end of May). They literally took 2 boxes down to the truck then left them on the step instead and never said they could not finish the job. I then called Chicago Movers and they came day of and completed the move without any complaints. If you are in Chicago and need a move, i suggest NOT to contact Applied Moving. They will be the biggest disappointment and leave a job site whenever they feel. Go with a much more reliable and professional company rather than these jokes. read more

Absolutely fantastic service! I found them on here and we got everything set up. They were on time, professional, and above all very quick! We were done in an hour and a half (we were moving up two floors in the same building, but no elevator.) My boyfriend and I didn't have to move a thing. Don't know about the other bad review (maybe just an off day) but our experience well exceeded our expectations. Everything start to finish was smooth and simply perfect. DO NOT USE APPLIED MOVING SYSTEMS!!! I had booked them more than two weeks in advance to move me, called a week before to confirm because I never got any confirmation and called at noon the day of (they were supposed to move me at 5). A little after 5 I call to see how far they are and the man who answered said he'd call my movers to find out and let me know. Ten minutes later I call because I had still had not heard from him and was told they'd be to me in like 20 minutes. When they were still not there I called again and was told that police barricaded the truck in and the main guy was going to the police station to talk to the police and he'd call me when he knew more, extremely sketchy. Bottom line they never showed up and despite me calling about 5 times that night to find out when they'd be to me he never even had the decency to answer/call me back and completely screwed me over. read more

It started out fine the guy showed up 20 minutes early and that was good. I was to have a truck with 4 men. However the moving team wasn't with him when he got there so instead of starting at 9AM we started at 9:30AM. I was easy about that but I had to ask that he not start charging me until things were actually being moved out. He said okay. 2 guys that got there were great and moved quickly and with ease. One of the guys has asthma and was allergic to pets so he was having a hard time breathing and looked as though he would pass out. We all told him to sit it out. The fourth guy picked up like 3 items and that was it for him. It took them form 9:30AM to 11:45 to get me out of my place. They were moving around slow and making 2 guys do all the work. They talked me out of 2 men and to 4 that cost more but would be cheaper ion the end. LIES! The entire move was from 9:30AM to 2:30PM. I moved with in the same area so it wasn't far in distance I just got screwed and paid 580.00 for 2 guys to work and 2 to sit it out!!!!!!!! BS!!!!!!! I gave 40.00 for a tip because that was it! There were 2 delivery guys and one driver. The moment they arrived they said its gonna take longer then 3 hours we booked. Most of what we had was packaged boxes and plastic bags full of clothes so we were surprised to hear one of them saying more then 3 hours to deliver them to my new address which is little over a mile. After they were done, they didn't tell me they were taking my stuffs to my new address. I kept waiting and after I called them they told me they left. So we drove to our new address and they brought our belongings. During the entire time, we offered them water and sodas and $45 tip. 3 hours later, the janitor of my old address calls me up and asks me if the heavy box that is left on hallway of 2nd floor is mine. I quickly drove there and and yes it was one of the many boxes that was ours and they left them there and didn't take it down to their truck . I had to carry it to my car and then back to my room of my new address . When I cleaned smart TV, I saw a big crack in the middle . They also did a poor job on assembling or screwing my baby's crib and one of the screw is missing and handle is loose.. Over all, I am very disappointed with the delivery people and their recklessness and carelessness of my belongings. I contacted the manager or whoever it was that I first called about these and text reply I got was " sorry there is nothing we can do". read more

This was our second time using AMS and we couldn't recommend them more. We had a lot of issues closing our condo, the bank moved our date twice, much to our panic, and each time we had to reschedule our move. Zico and Tina took everything in stride and let us postpone and reschedule repeatedly. We were extremely stressed during this process and the flexibility and kindness they showed us was wonderful. On the moving day, the guys were on time, innovative with ways to speed up the move as we had a lot of little boxes that took a lot of trips and made us run behind schedule. We were impressed and grateful for their honesty and diligence. We did pay for 2 more hours that we were previously quoted for, but that because of how we packed things rather than their work ethic. So pack in big boxes and your move will go right on time as it did with our first move with them!They also took special care with my grandmothers old dresser, an item I am extremely protective of. My husband jumped in to help (he's a hands on kinda guy) and had a great time working with them as well. I've moved 31 times in my 57 years of life. This is the absolute BEST experience I've ever had with hiring a professional moving company! Honest, hard working and careful with all my things. The price was almost exactly as quoted, even though I ended up adding a lot more work for the three young men that moved me. Initially I was going to move everything into a storage unit a few blocks away. I ended up moving half of my things into a garage a few miles away and the rest to a 2 floor walk up. Wow, I don't know how these guys got 4 or 5 stars. My move only rated 1 star. I requested and paid for 4 guys. None of them knew how to turn furniture around a doorway. If it didn't fit easily they just kept shoving until it went through. They totally ruined an upholstered chair by ripping the fabric during the shoving. I kept telling them to stop shoving as it wasn't going to fit and that there was another, larger doorway to take it through but I was ignored. I got an apology and $50 removed from my bill however it didn't come anywhere near what reupholstering cost. The door jamb on two different doors also were banged up as they didn't do little things like take legs off of tables, couches etc. to get them through. The other thing they did was drop a 5 ft. tall safe onto the concrete sidewalk. It rolled off the dolly sideways because they didn't strap it on. Thank goodness it didn't fall onto the locking handle on the front and break it. I wanted to tell them to just stop and go home as I was afraid of what other things they were going to ruin but obviously I couldn't as some of my stuff was already on the truck and I had to vacate my home that day due to closing. One of the guys was rather elderly and pretty much stood around and watched the others. I don't know if this was the regular crew or some backups that were pulled in at the last minute but they were awful. It was like watching the 3 stooges. No, I did not tip them. That would have been adding insult to injury for me. read more

Called just before noon today to book four days from now. Was told that date was open and available in the morning. Walked through an estimate with the guy on the phone. Told him I would call back as I was just calling around to get estimates at this point. After reading the reviews and calling about 10 other places, my husband and I decided we would go with AMS. I called back around 2pm and was told that there was no longer any availability until after 2pm on Friday. The guy said that other people had booked in that time since I didn't book when I first called. Um, ok. Really? In two hours? But, o.k. He then asked me for a list of furniture to move, which I gave him. Then he said they couldn't help me because that was way more than they had expected. WHAT??? It is a normal amount of furniture for a three bedroom house and we have fit the exact same amount of furniture in a 16' POD before so his 20' truck should be plenty big. Plus we are moving three blocks from our house so if they need to make two trips, what is the big deal? He said it would be an all day affair with four guys for that kind of move (king size bed, queen futon, twin trundle and a bunk bed--all disassembled ready to go--table and chairs, two china cabinets, two desks, two cabinets, some side tables and five bookshelves...plus a few other small pieces). No boxes, just furniture--easy load/unload on one flight of stairs in each place. Everything disassembled, packed, etc. He kept refusing, I said why not, he said hold on and hung up on me!! WHAT???? That is really unprofessional. He not only lost my business for this Friday but we move A LOT and he lost all future business from me and my husband's company. LAME.
