We came during covid and were looking for brunch around 1:30/2pm. This was one of the places that wasn't closed yet and we decided to give it a try. The area it is in is industrial, which felt a little strange since we did outdoor dining. I got the eggs benedict with bacon and I think it was solid. The hash browns were super crispy and enjoyable though! It seems like they are known for crab since there was a lot of crab options. My dad got the steak burrito, which was pretty decent, but I definitely had better. I read about this place on Nextdoor a couple of weeks ago. My husband is from Sausalito and never noticed the place. We decided to go this morning and we loved the food, atmosphere and service. The staff is so nice, welcoming and friendly! The customers are very respectful, and although it was not empty, people talking in the perfect volume of voice. I hate loud places. Just want to say how yummy the breakfast is here and how friendly the staff is. We walked in and were seated immediately. No wait time. The waiter was super nice and kind. I went here last Saturday with my aunt. We were seated right away in a nice little clean place in Sausalito. What I liked right away was the fact that it was far away from the major tourist area and so it made for plenty of parking. We both enjoyed the coffee that's always a plus for me. I ordered a green chili, bacon and cheese omelette. The green chili was very generous in size, the bacon crispy, and just the right amount of cheese. The hashbrowns were crispy just the way I like them. My aunt also enjoyed her breakfast.She simply ordered eggs over medium with bacon and hashbrowns. She also enjoyed every bite. The bacon and hashbrowns were just the way she liked them as well. If you wanna go away from all the tourist areas and just enjoy good food and friendly people, go to this really cute restaurant. The best part about Anchor 5 was the speed that the food and beverages arrived. Less than 10 minutes for food, apps came out in about 3 minutes. Chips & Guac were good. Burrito was pretty good with a lot of cheese and a generous portion of Guac. A good local diner. Coffee was also very good. read more

Really wasn't impressed with this place. It's in a very weird location. When we ordered sodas, we were given cans and charged $3.50 each. Food was very bland. We had to add salt to everything but the potatoes which we never do. The prices in general were very high, but especially after you see the portions. We had a breakfast quesadilla and a breakfast scramble and 2 sodas and our bill was $50. That includes the 4% charge for using a credit card. There was only one other table with people at it... now I know why. The boat theme is not as impressive as everyone makes it sound. I would not come back here, ever. I'm bitter that I wasted our Sausalito meal here when there ended up being lots of other places I saw in town that sounded and looked better... now we know for next time! read more

Great little hidden diner on the northern side of Sausalito, away from the tourist area. The staff are professional but friendly, The food is good old diner food: reuben sandwiches, grilled cheese, omelettes, pancakes. Enchiladas, burgers. It's never too crowded. Knotty pine booths, counter service and comfortable. It's a place I meet a friend when we're in the area. They see us approaching, and there's iced tea waiting for us. Now I know how Hiram Bingham must have felt when he discovered Machu Picchu on that Peruvian mountain ridge under all that jungle foliage. OK, Anchorage 5 is not exactly a lost civilization, but it is quite a jewel hidden away on a side street in Sausalito that I only knew before as the route to the Heath Ceramics warehouse. Your appraisal of this jewel's value will really depend on your appetite for greasy spoon fare. Mine was big, so was Jamie W.'s as we were starting our weekend journey north to Mendocino. It was raining buckets on Saturday morning when we came upon a nondescript, low-level office building that happen to have a small sign within view from the road. When we sauntered in past 10AM, the nautical-themed place was buzzing with locals who knew exactly what they were ordering. Meanwhile, Jamie and I tried to read one of their hefty menus complete with prawn and crab specials detailed on their own menu inserts. Jamie leaned toward lunch and ordered the $11.95 Patty Melt with Fries (see photo). Good and hearty and no complaints. Mine was decadently different under a plain brown wrapper. It was the $11.95 Corned Beef Hash, which was hand-shaved brisket mixed with chopped bell peppers and diced potatoes and then grilled. Savory tasty with two spoon-coddled poached eggs ladled on top and a side of hash browns that was definitely slathered in butter on the grill (see photo). It was just a nice twist on a breakfast classic that really satisfied. Service was a tad spotty once the food arrived as I was waiting for my coffee refill, but it was forgivable since the place was crowding pretty consistently. If we find ourselves crossing the bridge again, we would definitely come back here. Solid brunch spot, but pricey for the diner-esque feel. Tricky to find, but the food was good! I had the Avocado Benedict with a pancake on the side (which was a substitution for potatoes). It's a little steep to pay $14 plus extra for the substitution (based on the serving size), but I guess that's the Sausalito markup. The eggs were yummy and the sauce was not too heavy. The pancake was just ok, didn't taste homemade or special in any way. I would probably still go back but not my favorite place to eat. Restroom is out back through the kitchen and you need a key to access it. There was a nearby banister we used to secure our bikes while we dined, but not really a place for bike parking. read more

Lived in Sausalito for a long time 20+ years and only just heard of Anchorage 5. How come? I arrived around noon. Very few people inside. I order corn beef hash with two eggs and some toast and coffee. The food was fine, but I can't say the same for the atmosphere or the plating. It made my meal feel small - not hardy. There were lots of empty spots on my plate and made me feel like ai was being cheated. They symmetry was also completely off. The table itself lacked a sense of touch. Very empty. No ketchup at the table and the lighting was bad. It felt very empty and uninviting. While I was eating, the sound of the waiter and the bus boy loudly joking around could be heard very clearly, completely ruining the atmosphere. There was nice classical in the background, but it was not enough to balance out the chatting of the staff. The reason I am writing this is because I have been a resident a long time in Sausalito and I think it is imperative that we have quality restaurants in the town. This place has a lot of potential, but I hope the owner can pay better attention to the details. Advertising seems like an issue as well since I have never even heard of the place after living here so long. I thought I knew every cafe in town! This could also be due to the high prices. Menu prices are about $4-$6 above every other joint in town. Negatives aside, the corn beef hash was great and there wasn't anything that couldn't be easily fixed. Coffee was good too. read more

Great quiet and chill atmosphere. Anchorage 5 is tucked away at the end of a small road in a rather industrial area, but it's got a good plot of space back there. It was pretty uncrowded during the early afternoon that we went, but I'm told that the outdoor space is popular when the place is buzzing and the weather is nice. Highlight of this place is their hash browns! I have never had better hash browns anywhere else. They are really nice and crispy without a hint of being burned. Most other places either end up being blackened in some places, or not crispy enough and sadly damp. They even accommodated my request to mix them up with some diced onions and cheese (a habit I picked up long ago from Waffle House). I will come here over and over again for their hash browns. I also got corned beef hash and an over easy egg, both done really nicely. I wish the corned beef was a little more salty, but it tasted good. Staff is really friendly.
