We love Ampersea! I've had brunch here now twice. Best view of the harbor and everything is delicious.

We dined here last night. Food was alright in my opinion. We ordered the crab dip and seafood tamales to start. For entrees, we ordered the cauliflower tacos, the ampersea burger and the braised short rib. Everything tasted fairly average. Our favorites were the seafood tamales and the crab dip. I rated the restaurant 2 stars, because I found the food to be average which honestly I would have given 3 stars for except our service was not good. Towards the end of our meal, we wanted dessert and the server came and brought our check without asking if we may want dessert. She was clearly rushing us out of the restaurant (our reservation was 8pm, and this happened around 9pm). We told her we wanted dessert and she gave us the option of cheesecake and berry cobbler--even pointing out that the table in front of us had the cobbler. We chose the cobbler and she goes into the back then comes out and says, how do you feel about the cheesecake...thats what it comes down to tonight...(you can tell everybody was cleaning up and our server was very obviously rushing us out) We felt this was kind of rude. If the restaurant is intending to close at 9-why take a reservation at 8pm? Then to have the server basically pushing us out is not cool. This experience makes me not want to come back. read more

We had a party of 8 so had to make 2 separate reservations. They were kind enough to seat us together inside. We ordered Mac n cheese, Ampersea burger, crab cakes, cioppino, truffle fries, pork chops, chicken wings. Menu is confusing & doesn't state entree comes with 1 side. & server did not tell us. When appetizer came out, server forgot to bring out small sharing plates & we had to request. Food came out lukewarm & very small portions. Bathroom could be cleaner. Front staff & server could be more friendly. read more

Went to the restaurant today. We ordered wings and they came out in less than 5 minutes. I knew they were not fresh. As an entree, I ordered the lamb shank and took a few bites. I was not a fan. I told the waiter however they did not take the item of the receipt. Their "rule" is that if the food is presented as stated on the menu, you have to pay for it. Our waiter was great but I am NEVER going back to this place. I should've known when it was empty on a Saturday afternoon something is off. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences I had ever had. From the moment we were seated to the moment we left- terrible. The server seemed irritated when we did not order bottomless mimosas. One of us is sober. we ordered a dozen oysters and when they were brought to us they were thrown in front of us. No one explained the origin of the oysters. Apparently there was only one type offered. I ordered a salad and the server said " you don't want no protein?" when my salad did come out it was dropped at the seat where no one was sitting. We were a party of three and I motionEd that I was the one that ordered it. Anytime we were try to get the servers attention he had an attitude. And finally when the bill came the prices were incorrect. And the server said "so what you want six dollars off?" No, I want to pay what I owe... some items were less than what was on the menu and some were more. He tried to bring over a different menu to show us and I said that is not the menu all three of us were given. Finally the manager came over and semi apologized and said there were different menus floating around because they're changing them. Are you kidding?! I used to work in the restaurant industry in philly and dc and that would never fly. Trash. The food was mediocre. Under seasoned, limited menu. read more

My friend invited me to this yelp elite event, and it was my first time at this restaurant. The ambiance and location was very nice, but the food fell flat. Out of all the small plates they had, the only vegetarian option was cooked artichokes. I tried them and they were okay. My friend who eats meat also tried the rest of the food and she said it was okay. When I looked at the actual menu, it says they have vegetarian options so I may have to go back just to try them. Overall I would go there to sit on the patio and enjoy a drink, but I don't think I would make a trip just for the food. read more

The outdoor seating gives a wonderful view of the water..very relaxing! I had the crab cakes & the margarita for dinner. The crab cakes were some of the best I've ever had! Even the seasonal veggies were really delicious. The margarita was also really good. I only give it 4 because the outside seating wasn't necessarily social distanced. Indoors it definitely is, though. But everyone was wearing their masks & id definitely return! read more

We came for lunch on a trip down to Baltimore. Restaurant had a nice outdoor patio with big umbrellas to block the sun (if you wanted). The restaurant is right on the water so a beautiful view. The waitress came over and took our drink order. The menu listed their craft draught beers but then didn't list what type of beer (I.e. IPA or stout) and the waitress said she didn't really know beer. We (randomly) picked two. I ended up not liking mine and she was very nice to let me switch. The lunch menu was kind of limited. I got the soft shell crab sandwich which came with fries or a side salad and my husband had the chicken sandwich. Took awhile for the food to come out even though they didn't seem super busy. Solid place but next time would probably check out somewhere else. read more

Me and my girls dined here last night for "girls night" and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. From the time we entered the restaurant to when we left hours later, we were treated with excellent customer service, care, and attention. The four of us dined on the patio to take in the gorgeous harbor view on a beautiful Saturday night. However, after about 30 minutes we realized we were being attacked by mosquitoes. We told our server Lama who immediately went to get the manager Kyle to light some citronella candles. He did so, and we saw a difference very quickly. I mean the views were too beautiful to dine inside. After that, we ordered our food and some cocktails. The old bay wings were so good; they were crispy and dressed in the perfect amount of wing sauce. Everyone enjoyed their meal which included the soft shell crab sandwich, the burger and the salad with prawns on top. YUMMY! Both the white and red sangria were a hit at our table. After we finished dinner and paid for our meal, we left the table and relaxed on the comfy sofas surrounding a fire pit. Our server came over to let us know that Kyle was buying us a round of drinks to make up for the "mosquito" incident from earlier. We were pleasantly surprised that he made such a nice gesture. This restaurant is great and the service is even better. Please remain consistent because you just gained 4 more loyal patrons. I am giving 5 stars even though I have 12 mosquito bites on my body today LOL. read more

Very nice ambience and decorations during Christmas time. Food was average. However they served the worst oysters rockefeller I've ever had

The atmosphere was very inviting. The host was the food runner and busser. He was very nice. The food was great but the service was horrible. The need to hire more staff ASAP. read more

You can't go wrong here: the fresh decor, location right in the fells point mix, fabulous view and atmosphere all guarantee a good time, but the food also delivers. If you can't decide on the menu, the happy hour here is very generous and let's you sample their flavors easily. Most important, I've come to appreciate places that care about my business and Ampersea is no exception. Clearly that philosophy is working for them too because as of my last visit they are busier than ever. This is quickly becoming my go to for out of town guests because you can take in the city, have great seafood with city flare and they have something for everyone. It's also proving to be one of the top brunch scenes in the city at a time where everyone is doing a "brunch" but no one is delivering on the upscale atmosphere and experience. You won't miss out on any of that here. read more

Great food and service! It started to rain so they had to close patio but allowed us to hang out and dine under the umbrellas as it passed through. They also gave us free drinks and appetizer voucher, will definitely be back. read more

Garbage. Had to wait an inordinate amount of time to order our entrees and the staff clearly had no idea what they were doing. Baltimore is a fantastic city for food but this place is not representative of that at all. Avoid at all costs. read more

I went here yesterday and loved the food, the wine, the service and the price. And the view!! So beautiful to be right on the water. You could go somewhere else and you could pay a lot more, however this restaurant offers everything for a reasonable price that makes the meal that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN.. attended a family member's wedding and it was literally, if not one of the best wedding meals ever. From cocktail hour to late night sliders everything was impeccable! That filet was cooked like I was the only person in the restaurant but they had over 100 guests. Kyle was outstanding and it showed in his food and Meg orchestrated everything with grace. read more

Went for the crab cake and outdoor seating and both of those were superb. Nice shade on a warm summer evening. The service was ok. Wish someone cared enough to teach the kid refilling the water glasses about etiquette not reaching across the plate and leaving us alone for more than 3 minutes). And the bathrooms were a mess. One would think that with the shocking bill (market price for the cut of day special was $60 and for sea bass on pasta $45) that would come with top notch service and cleanliness. read more

With the exception of the eager Spanish-speaking busboy, astonishingly amateur service for such a prime setting. First visit, and our first impression is a hostess resting her chin in her hands and speaking to us with literally her hands covering her mouth while wearing a mask. Her enthusiasm was about a one out of ten. Truly shocking mistakes followed: waitress did not know what sides accompanied the 'salmon' special, so she ran to the kitchen to ask. Our wine list was loaded with duplicate pages, and missing the whites completely. They charge for bread? Really? Then the built in tip is always offensive. If these places only knew, we are 30% tippers, but when they build it in, that is what they get. Really disappointed in Ampersea. Waste of awesome real estate. We couldn't wait to get out of there and recover the evening at Ouzo Beach. My advice: promote the busboy, and send your staff to customer service 101 pronto. read more

Ampersea - Amazing views all year round! - New American Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

My boyfriend and I have been here twice. Our dinner experience was much better than brunch. For dinner, we sat outside along the water. It was very pretty and quiet, so the ambiance for a dinner date was nice. The service was very good at this time - attentive servers who checked in on us. We had the brussel sprouts appetizer and the Eastern Shore salad which the chef split for us. Both of these dishes were excellent in terms of taste, presentation, portion and price. We also had Eleanor's Stuffed Peppers which was also split for us. This dish, however, lost on taste, portion and price. The portion was pretty skimpy for the price and while the rice was tasty, the actual pepper and veggies didn't really have much flavor. Our brunch experience, unfortunately was not as good. We had a party of six people. The food was still good - I tried the cheeseburger deviled eggs, the veggie omlette and the BLTE - all of which were yummy. But the service was incredibly lacking, which was pretty ridiculous given that the dining room was only a third full. It was very difficult to get our server's attention to refill our waters or get condiments, get the check or pick up the check. In fact, I ended up getting up multiple times to ask for someone to attend to us. Very frustrating, especially because we were a group of 6, the largest group in the place, and there were times where I literally saw staff standing around talking to eachother. I don't know if I'd go back since there are a lot of other places in Fell's that have both good food and good service. read more

Extremely slow service. Very limited menu. Food is not good. Everything has a bizarre taste to it. The french fries they give you are "truffle parmesan fries." Everyone left them on their plate. Burger was just OK. Their ketchup is disgusting. I could barely eat anything there, and threw the leftovers out. read more

Have been to Ampersea for a few events and and once for dinner and it has yet to do anything but impress. You cannot beat the view or proximity to the water. Having drinks on the couches by the fire pit by the light of the Domino Sugar Sign is a must and they should be charging more for that experience but as of now are not. We had a blast at the new Promenade Bar Opening Party last Thursday. It was packed with a couple hundred people and the crushes were still fresh squeezed juice. My friends raved about the Rum Punch. I can't wait to try their brunch next. I hear the read more

If you like a place that falsely advertises and lies, then this is a place for you l! About a week or so ago, I saw a few posts on Instagram about a "Valentines Brunch" that stated a collab with Diablo Doughnuts and specials. I made a reservation thinking it would be a fun thing to do. Fast forward to the day of. The original post had the brunch from 10A-2P. So we came in at 11A. As we entered and were seated, we looked at the menu that looked like their regular menu with no specials or special event information. Also, there were no breakfast or brunch drinks. Just a wine menu and a dinner drinks menu. When our waitress walked up, she asked if we wanted to start with drinks. I asked about what drinks they had, her response was whatever is in the drink menu. I rephrased do you have any brunch drinks. She states that they have unlimited mimosas. Which I further asked if they had anything else than that. She then stated oh, bloody Mary's. I was already upset because I had to pull info out of our server. When she finally came back, I inquired about the brunch specials and donuts that were advertised. She told us that they were running late and walked away. So almost 1 1/2 hrs after the stated start time there wasn't a single donut nor any specials! We figured we would just drink our bloody Mary's and wait a bit. The bloody Mary's had so much horseradish in them that it was hard to drink. At this point we were both so disappointed, that we just decided to order whatever food they had on their "brunch menu". After placing our order the donuts arrived. They where unpacked and placed on a community table for the taking. That's it. No drink specials, no food specials, no real collaboration with said donuts. Just a plate of donuts sitting by the bar. I'd say that is false advertising. I went back to screenshot the original Instagram post, and of course they removed it from their account. I'm extremely upset. How can you post this "special brunch" and then not follow through, as if no one would actually notice. I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time and money here. read more

Ampersea - After removing the original post (with collab info and specials), this is the one they replaced it with.. shady - New American Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

I have never written a review for anything before, but I need to share how I had the WORST restaurant experience at Ampersea. This was by far the worst experience I've had in my entire life from start to finish. We waited 35 minutes for our server to approach our table once we sat down, only because I grabbed another server and expressed that we haven't been approached yet. Our server finally arrived and apologized that she hadn't approached us yet. Her excuse was that no told told her that they sat at us her table, so she didn't see us there.... Even though she was helping all of the other tables in the area. The apps were underwhelming, but fine. I ordered a glass of cab sav, and our server brought 1/3 pour of sav blanc. It was the smallest pour I have ever seen. We expressed that I received the wrong wine but I kept drinking it anyways. The same waitress poured my friends wine, at least 3x the amount that I received. As I was comparing and complaining about my wine pour, a friend at my table heard our server complain about me to another server. Yet, she never apologized or acknowledged how horrible the pour was. And here is the worst part of the dinner: 4 out of 6 entrees came out together. We waited for the last 2 entrees for more than 45 minutes after the initial entrees came out. Our server asked what else she could get us, and we said our other 2 entrees. She said that the kitchen was backed up with no other explanation. We asked if our entrees would be available in the next 15 minutes or so, and on the spot she said she could not guarantee that we would. This would mean that we would have to wait AT LEAST one hour after everyone else received and finished their meals for one order of short ribs and one grilled chicken salad. We had already been at dinner for over 2 hours so we asked to have the items removed from our bill and to get food elsewhere. Our server never apologized and had the worst service I have ever experienced. This restaurant is in the both beautiful location, but the food (at least what I tried) was so underwhelming and I was utterly disrespected and treated horribly the entire time. The fish was extremely dry and overcooked. The broccoli was plain and undercooked. I've never been to a restaurant where your ordered entree is not guaranteed. The drinks and food are not cheap ($17 cocktails) and the service that you receive is not worth the hefty bill. I will NEVER go to this restaurant. Everyone at my table will NEVER go there again. Stand clear from this restaurant. Save yourself from the disappointment and regret and DO NOT GO. read more

As parents, my husband and I don't get a night out often. So I was really looking forward to the evening. Our server was great. However, there was an issue with the salad I ordered as an appetizer with the food runner. The issue was blown out of proportion by the restaurants owner and his poor customer service and the way in which he handled the incident really put a damper on my mood and the evening. This was my second time dining at ampersea in a month. I had brought my mom a few weeks before for her birthday and we really enjoyed ourselves for lunch. However, based on the way in which the owner handled the incident last night upon our return, I highly doubt I'll be returning. The only thing that saved the evening was our server, who was really lovely. And overall we enjoyed our food. But customer service is big for me and I did not feel like the owner handled the situation as good as it could have been handled. read more

Great views of the harbor, just enough off the beaten track in Fells Point. And their brunch, with bottomless mimosas, is the best.

So glad to see my favorite back to business. The view alone was enough for me. I can't stop there though bc the food was even better than I remember and the service was impeccable. Some new face and some hold. Overall it was a great way to gradually come back from being locked in due to COVID-19. Thanks Ampersea Crew read more

I was excited to come to Ampersea because of the decor and what I thought would be good food but I was highly disappointed. First off, the seasoning was non existent. I ordered salmon and it taste like nothing, I literally could not finish it without salt and pepper. Secondly, my friends ordered the short ribs. When I tell you that they severed them a piece of steak and tried to pass it off as short ribs, that's when we should've sent it back. I was highly upset and I wasn't even eating it, there is no way that you could've served this and called it short rib because that was completely disrespectful. Lastly, my drinks weren't even served in the right glasses. Amaretto sour in a tall glass that was practically orange, and a lemon drop in a tall glass, how watered down are you trying to be? I would not recommend this place in the slightest. read more

Considering other reviews, we may have just caught them at a bad time, but unfortunately this was probably the worst service I've ever had at a "higher end" restaurant. We waited over 2 hours for our food and it still came out wrong. The "over 2 hours" is not an exageration. It was a sunday night so it was not very busy either. I think my husband ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a beer he ordered. I ended up canceling my entre because it would have been almost 10 pm by the time it came out. I gave an extra star because the soup I ordered was pretty good. I think there were some issues with the kitchen? Which I understand but it would have been nice if someone came and told us the situation so we didn't wait 2 hours to eat. I wouldn't have stayed if we werent with a party. Hopefully this was just a bad day because I can't imagine anyone else coming back after that type of experience :( read more
