After a flood in our kitchen, we decided to remodel and upgrade. After doing a patio project as owner builders, we decided to get a contractor this time. Amcor had very reasonable prices and I liked the reviews and photos I saw on yelp. Aaron, the owner, was also very responsive and gave advice on what was doable. He answered all of our questions and was willing to meet when it was convenient for us. There was a bit of a language barrier, but through texting and photos, it wasn't an issue. His employee, Feibiao, did all the carpentry and is a good woodworker. He built out the side walls of our island because we didn't like the waterfall look and wanted wood. Even though they had worked on my office previously, I was so impressed by their work and how Aaron explained what they needed to do and why. It was hard for me to trust someone again because of my bad experience two years ago with another contractor. I had a bathroom renovation; balcony repaint and added a wardrobe to my guess room completed by AMCOR Construction. I spoke and got several quotes from different companies, but none of them even got closer to AMCOR Construction. Those companies wanted to charge SO MUCH and when I spoke to them, I didn't feel like they had my best interest. I finally found AMCOR Construction on yelp, and just like you I read reviews. I even contacted the people that left reviews and asked them about their experiences. I probably contacted around 15 people and all of them told me that they recommended AMCOR Construction. I contacted AMCOR on yelp and within 20 minutes Aaron contacted me back. Aaron is great. He listened to what I needed done and all the questions I had. OMG, I asked a lot of questions BEFORE and DURING renovations. Aaron even showed me his business license and insurance to make feel at ease. Aaron was so patient with me- I kept changing my mind and adding new request . I could contact him right away. I would send him a message and he would reply right away. He didn't even care when I contacted him late at night. What I love the most was, my husband and I were able to choose all the materials, and our designs were met. Aaron took us to Home Depot and helped us choose materials. My husband and were confused, but again Aaron was so patient and explained everything t us. To top it all, Aaron gave me the best quote and met my timeline. Some companies told me it will take almost three weeks to get everything done. Aaron and his employees got everything done in less than 10 days. Aaron employees were great and very respectful. They kept the construction area clean. They cleaned before leaving for the day. They worked so hard. They came in before 9 am and left around 5 pm, sometimes longer. I had no issues with the employees. Aaron came to inspect all the work before I gave him the final payment. My prior review was deleted by YELP due to my changing of e-mail. We were going to hire Aaron but then found out that his business is not legit. He is doing a lot of business and has many positive reviews on YELP but that doesn't change the fact that he is not licensed to do the work that he is performing. I have ran into this on several occasions where there is no recourse if something is done wrong. Example; A floor is tiled and instead of using a wax ring to replace the toilet they caulk it and the toilet leaks. Or the paint starts peeling after several months due to improper preparation. Etc. Aaron came to my house on September 29 with an interpreter to give an estimate for expanding the shower, re place cabinet, mirror, lights and tile surrounding walls for 15K, 10% to be paid on signage of contract and remainder in cash 1/2 on 1st day of work and remainder upon completion. We spent several days looking for tile, cabinets and understood that our glass would be special order. We were anxious to get started, however when I reviewed the proposal it was 4-5 lines and lacked detail and was poorly written. I became suspicious and called DCCA to find out from Ryan they are not licensed to do more than handyman work at no greater cost than $1,500.00. AS I said earlier I have been taken advantage of by contractors before and this upset me. I once had a roof collapse, only to find out that the company was no longer in business and had changed names but was underinsured to repair my roof and ceiling that came down as a result of a sudden rain storm. His business is registered but not licensed. A legitimate business is supposed to be bonded and insured in case one of their workers is injured for workman's comp. His workers are all paid cash. Why is this an issue for me? This could be a potential problem for me if someone is injured on my property and would be made liable which would go under my homeowners insurance. When we asked for referrals he informed us to check the YELP reviews. He would not offer for us to speak to any of his clients. There was no guarantee or warranty of work offered. He did note that he had 3 jobs he was working on at the same time when we discussed dates to start. Then later mentioned he has 5 jobs scheduled. We were supposed to sign a contract yesterday. After discussing this with DCCA they mentioned that they may be good at their work but as a legitimate business it is not. It is a problem and I decided to file an official complaint. Aaron has replied to my wife with multiple texts pleading for me to delete my review. I play by the rules and I expect others to do so as well. Aaron said he has a business parter that is licensed but there is no one listed on his registered company with the DCCA. After purchasing a condo in Kukui Plaza in June, we hired Amcor to install vinyl flooring in kitchen and bathroom, over range microwave, baseboards, cabinet hardware, and kitchen backsplash. Aaron and his helper did a great job overall. We communicated to Aaron through Connie and we thought we made it clear to not touch the toilet, because the building has back outlet toilets and they can only be set correctly by a plumber. Luckily, I went over on the first day and noticed water under the new flooring and found out the toilet was pulled up to install the flooring. I had to make an emergency appointment for a plumber to come in and correct the installation, which cost over $500. Thankfully, Aaron was will to decrease his cost by $200 to assist with the cost of the mistake. Another point I need to make is that Aaron's helper was quite messy and did not run a shop vac while cutting flooring materials and baseboards. I did give permission for them to run the AC, which was a mistake because I noticed decreased cooling performance with the unit, which was newly installed in July 2021 (see photo of saw dust clogged AC). I tried my best to clean out the mess but the AC seemed to struggle and kept prompting me to clean the filter, even though the filter was completely clean. Thankfully, I purchased the extended warranty through Lowe's and was able to swap out the AC just under 4 months later no questions asked. Now we have ice cold AC again. My wife and I are completely happy with the work that was done. But marking them down a star for the inconveniences that I shared. In contrast, I had plantation shutters installed by Island Shutters on 9/30/2021. The installer ran the shop vac while cutting and caught all the dust with the vacuum. I didn't really have to dust after, so there is a method to working cleaner. read more

They work fast but there were a couple of mistakes that they had to correct. They didn't Solder my shower line correctly in the 2nd floor and it caused leaking to my first floor ceiling. Amcor argued that it was impossible for it to be a leak and blamed it on the pipes rubbing against wood. Upon opening the walls to check it was indeed an incomplete solder which caused the leak. They don't really protect your house from dust, especially when they were doing my bathroom, they left the door open during much of Contruction and dust got on my bed and all over my dressers. read more
