HY Construction did such an Amazing job in our condo. This is our first condo, we started by interviewing several contractors, and they were by far the most reasonably priced, communicative and came recommended by our realtor's clients. Our condo has some pretty strict requirements such as putting them under Hy's insurance policy and getting everything approved. Josh helped us with the process, and got our condo on their policy quickly. After we signed with them, we did a walk through of our condo, they were very detailed in asking questions to understand what we wanted and were super helpful and patient with our many questions lol. They got rid of our all our popcorn ceiling, carpet, installed vinyl plank for our entire condo, as well as change out our bathroom vanities & mirrors, and made shelves for our bathrooms. It turned out even better than I expected honestly! Afterwards I remember looking up at our ceiling and feeling grateful of how smooth and well done it is and the vinyl planks were done beautifully. Everything was really meticulously done even down to the quarter rounds that line the edges of our flooring. Mr. He and his partner did most of the work, he was very communicative, professional and even did many little extra things for us around the house that my husband thought of later like installing shower/tower rods so everything matched, at a very reasonable price, he even painted our door for free! I honestly am so grateful for him, he's such a nice guy. They got everything done in timely manner too! Since we were trying to move in ASAP, as my son was gona be born in 2 months. We love how updated our place looks now compared to before and I'm so grateful to HY Construction and their quality work! Few months later our garbage disposal went out, and it wasn't an easy plug-in one to reinstall. They did that for us at a very reasonable price as well. Fantastic company. We met a couple of guys from the crew working on another job. They took our info down and gave it to their boss Josh. Josh from the get go was super responsive. He continued to respond incredibly fast via text and email. He gave us a line item bid and did not pressure us at all. We redid our bathroom, kitchen counters and installed a new ac unit. His team always has masks on when we need to walk through the site together. They also double check with us when unsure of how we want something (opposed to making the decision themselves). They are incredibly neat which is super helpful in a small space. They work quickly and efficiently. Any delay in the job was on our part, not theirs and it was never an issue for them. not only did they use no-waterproof sealant on the whole bathroom and kitchen remodel, they chipped the new tub they installed (and didn't tell us) and patched it so poorly that the paint they used scraped off slowly to reveal the patch. they also installed the wrong drain pipe for the bathroom sink (needed to have "no overflow") and filled the holes in the pipe with a non-waterproof sealer. We didn't realize all these issues until the sinks and tub where all leaking into the back of the cabinet and behind the wall. we deserve some sort of a discount for their error on an over $30,000 job where we were constantly bringing them treats and showing aloha. also, the timeline was constantly being pushed by months different from the original contract. read more

I found HY Construction through Yelp's search feature. Although I had only a small job (a shower redo) they were very accommodating. They did not try to push me into doing more than I requested. Josh was very attentive and patient, working with me to choose the fixtures and details and answer any questions. I scheduled the job while we were going to be away. Josh kept me updated through texts and photos. I was prepared to have to come home to a lot of dust but upon returning I was pleasantly surprised that they had cleaned up everything nicely. Installation went only a day over the expected completion date, which was fine since I was away anyway. As for their work, I am very satisfied. It's been almost 6 months since started a contract w/ HY Construction for a 2-3 week bathroom remodel completion. This same contract is still waiting for a response from James as to when they plan to return to work on this project. I've been since waiting again from their last work day 8/26/23 (that's 3 weeks ago.) I have no idea when they will return and finish the work. The rooms are still covered in plastic since the time of demolition in April. I have not been able to use my Master bedroom because this Master bathroom (that they are still working on) is taking so long to complete. I have tried contacting James all week and have not received any response. Besides finishing the original contract (finish installing grab bars, towel rack, toilet paper holder, cabinet handles, tiles, painting, etc... there are numerous problems that still need to be fixed.... toilet bowl was installed crooked and missing a piece, broken light bulb was replaced with different brightness from adjacent existing bulb, window & surrounding area still is stained with what looks like dry wall spray, ceiling showing it's half painted line, they also broke my landscape light fixture, etc. (the list is long). It is unprofessional for them to continually harass me for more money when they are not finished, not even close. All businesses get paid after the job is done. They received their agreed deposit before they starting and must finish to receive the full amount. Harassment is just unprofessional and rude. read more

We wanted to move a wall and completely remodel our master bathroom, after reading tons of Yelp reviews and reviewing pictures of many different contractors work we reached out to HY Construction. Josh arrived with his father-in-law (Jian) and another worker to listen to our ideas and take notes for the estimate. Josh explained that HY is a family business (it is important to us to support smaller family businesses) and that Jian would be running the crew. They took the time to ask about all the important questions and their easiness and comfortableness in the discussion and exchange of ideas told me they were very experienced. We were in Italy when the work started, the crew had full access to the house. We returned mid-project to find that they had laid protective coverings over all the floors where they would walk, covered and taped all of our furniture, shrink's, and anything they thought would get dusty or dirty (a nice surprise). The work area was extremely clean and they made sure it was this way each evening before they left. All wore masks, and observed COVID protocols. The crew was interactive, one of the English speaking members, Ivan, was very friendly and did a great job translating between us and the rest of the group. Jian takes great pride in his work, and the rest of the crew is no different. This shows in the tile work, the seamless transitions between old and new walls, and the installation of the bathroom cabinets and top. While we were away, they ran into a problem moving the wall, it contained some vent pipes for the house. Josh is a great communicator and we were able to see pictures, and discuss this from Italy so the project could continue. Once we returned, Jian and the crew made sure everything was right before it went it, sometimes making multiple trips to find the right faucet or vanity. If you are looking for a great company, that will go the extra mile to ensure client happiness and success then look no further. I will recommend HY construction to any individual or company looking to remodel either for personal enjoyment or renovation prior to resale. Thanks to HY, our renovation (bathroom, flooring, closet) as done within our tight budget and of good quality. We met with HY's owner many times(many times at the request of HY's owner) to go over details. He would recommend options for the best functionality and/or aesthetics while being mindful of our budget. During and prior to construction, we requested pricing for many items with different options. Josh was always friendly and positive. (we must of asked him for at least 5 updated estimates with different options). Josh would respond 'Got it' and provided us with reasonable pricing promptly. We felt that HY was always looking out for us throughout the process. HY warned us of potential pitfalls and provided solutions. One example was, we wanted to have a glass swinging shower door. However HY pointed out to us that there wasn't enough space for one. We brainstormed with HY and we chose to have a door less shower and it looks awesome! great response initial conversation. josh arranged a time to come out .all seemed well until arrival time was late. and it went down hill after that. the 2 men who came was nice but didn't know what was going on, so i asked them to call Josh and clarify. one point is Josh never said he was sending other people over that was to come out and estimate the job, but sent one guy named Jimmy and the other I suppose he was a boss....jimmy had to translate as the other couldn't speak English or understand . I'm not judging but how do u communicate if English interpreter is unavailable when job is to be installed? they did say they were super busy and my job was not priority ,and to extract and install new shower units would be done when they have time in between which would span over 2-4 weeks. it would have been nice to have been aware of that before wasting time when it coulda been said over phone. i took it as my job was too much of something they rather not do and still wanted to make money ! read more
