We can't stop staring at our new kitchen. Really, not kidding around. It's beautiful and functional! I didn't realize just how much space I would gain with the awesome pull out drawers and roll out cabinet shelves. No more worries about wonky drawers that fall out or possible creepy crawlies messing with our utensils and dishes. Ours was an original 70's kitchen so you can imagine how dated and broken-down it was. Kalani and his specialists really gave our sad kitchen a huge update. We had everything done. From taking out a side wall with electrical running through it to new cabinets, tile flooring, and all new kitchen/pantry/living room lighting. Surprise surprise, on day one during demo, they found mold. Thankfully, took care of that issue. Then came our outdated electrical lines. They changed the lines and brought it all I up to code. Any questions or issues that arose, Kalani made sure to respond and provide solutions. Believe me when I say, older places come with a lot of hiccups so we appreciate Kalani and his expertise. Found Vision Builders through Yelp--yep TBH, I was uneasy at first. Kalani was one of several "bites" I got on my inquiry about some demo (wood and water rot) and reno (windows install) work, and painting our entire home. I was hopeful b/c Vision Builders did have more positive reviews than the others. Fortunately conversations with Kalani put me more at ease, and his quote was significantly less than the other ones we got. Kalani got a quote back to me within a week, and was able to start within a couple of weeks. Troy (carpenter) and Luke (journey man) were personable and awesome, and really put in the work in demoing and replacing our deck and stairs w/ Trex. One important thing for me is the cleanup at the end of the workday, and Kalani's crew, including the painters, always cleaned up after themselves and made sure the area was clean and trashed picked up before they left for the day. Especially with demo, I don't want to find nails in the driveway or around the house, or other hazards for my son. Fortunately Kalani and crew could use our garage to store their tools, equipment, and materials; and use the garage bathroom and help themselves to drinks we put in the outside fridge. How's this: at the end of the job, Troy brought 3 cases of water to replace the drinks we left in the fridge for them! Kalani kept me informed almost daily throughout the duration of the work. Payment plan was 50% of the costs up front, 25% when 2/3 of the job was done, and the remaining 25% once the job is completed. At the end of the job, Kalani touched up a few spots the crew missed and walked through the house with me to make sure everything was completed to satisfaction. There were several days no one was able to stay home while the crew (including painters) were in the house. But interacting with Kalani, Troy, Luke, and the painters, the wife and I were comfortable with securing the dog upstairs and letting the crew work unattended and locking up when they were done. I used Vision Builders twice and plan to use them for more work in the near future, so if nothing else, that should say how pleased I am with the work from Austin and his crew. I live in a small little condo, and it's definitely time to renovate. It's been challenging because not only do I live there, I work from home. I'm also not made of money, so budget and time off to stay somewhere else are significant concerns. My bathroom was first. I love how it turned out! There were small things and big things, (defective items - the tub had to be installed by plumber twice due to something that looked like a crack and the toilet had something wrong with it as well) but Austin and his crew got everything squared away as quick as possible. I love the tile the most. Just finished the kitchen/living room area. I just love being in those spaces now. Redid floor, walls, and countertops/cabinets and updated appliances. Kalani has been a great partner in renovating our recently purchased condo. The HOA rules have been challenging, so having Kalani and his team repaint the condo to our specifications was a bright spot. In fact, every time we visit the condo I comment on how happy I am with the job they did. The accent walls are absolutely beautiful! Choosing colors from paint chips is always challenging, so to have them show so amazingly on the walls is awesome. Painting ceilings and walls in every room, including bathrooms...and inside closets, some with shelves...is daunting. However, Kalani's men left the condo impeccably clean. And the current carpet is plush white to boot! They knew that we are planning to recarpet it to something more practical. Nonetheless, they left the white carpet SPOTLESS! Because of the job they did, we're having Kalani and his team help in ongoing reno projects. They're building bookshelves along the entire length of one wall in the guest room/office. And next year, we plan to redo the master bath with their help. While other contractors have not followed through with us, for one reason or another, Kalani has always been willing to help us out. I live in a two story house and had a crack in the plumbing of my bathtub, located on the 2nd floor, beneath my living room which causes it to leak and eventually damaging the ceiling. After I had the plumbing issue repaired by Emergency Plumbing, I had Kalani repair my damage ceiling. In addition, I also had him reglaze two of my tubs, two of my sinks, and also had him paint my entire house. As you can see by the before and after pictures, he did an extremely awesome job. I am so happy to have my living room back the way it used to be, and loving my new reglaze tubs, and sinks! I would HIGHLY recommend him! Vision Builders has done two projects on our home and we've been very happy with each and plan to hire them again. Both Kalani and Tim did great work, that looked wonderful when it was finished, and they were totally professional. Our first project was done entirely while we were away from home. Tim stayed in contact with us the whole time, informing us of changes and checking with us about materials and decisions that needed to be made. When we arrived home and saw the completed work we were very happy with how everything looked and called immediately to get a bid on a second project. (I should also mention that we had gotten other bids and Vision Builders' bid was the lowest and most appropriately priced for the work. He also came in 100% on budget with no additional costs.) On the second project Kalani was in charge and we found his work and dedication to be excellent as well. At one point he came to check on the work his crew was doing and he was dissatisfied with the quality of the workmanship. He brought in a new carpenter and also came, himself, after working at another site all day, and worked well into the evening to improve the work. While he did charge us for the extra materials he had to buy to repair the work, he did not charge us anything additional for labor, and gave us the receipts so we could see exactly what had to be purchased. The overall price was reasonable and his ability to get to us quickly and stay in contact with us the whole time was very appreciated. The final product is beautiful and the quality of the work is so good that if we didn't tell you work had been done you'd never know that any changes had been made. My project was fairly small, I had two rooms to paint with some minor wall repair. However, because I have a very thick carpet and the walls don't actually have baseboards (and I was going from dark to light), I needed paint to go all the way down, well below the carpet line, for it to look right. I hired Kalani to remove popcorn ceiling, re-mud, and paint the ceiling of a single family home. We came to an agreement on price for labor (1/2 payment upfront, and 1/2 after job completion) and materials. I met Kalani to buy some materials, and placed all materials in the house. I also bought a dustpan for my own personal use, and placed it outside in the closet. The outside closet uses the same key as my front door, and I kept all my hand tools, power tools, ladder etc. (worth thousands of dollars) in the closet as I was planning on doing work on the house immediately after the ceiling work was complete. I did not give anyone permission to go into the closet period. Kalani said he and his crew was going to start work the next day so I locked everything up, and placed a lockbox on the front door. I texted Kalani, and told him all materials staged in the house, and gave him lock box combo. Now at this point only he, and I knew the combination to the lock box, and the only other key was in my pocket the whole time. Five days after starting I went to take a look at the house, and check on progress. I open the front door and I find the job around 2/3 done, with the dustpan I bought for the house in use inside the house. This bothered me a little, as no one asked to use the dustpan before grabbing it. I went to the garage to find the closet door locked, with no damage to the door or lock. I opened the closet outside to find someone had taken all my hand tools, power tools, and ladder. I filed a police report and asked Kalani about it, but he said he has his own tools, and so does his guys. Then he asked me if he could get another partial payment. I reminded him that the original agreement was 1/2 upfront, and 1/2 upon completion. He gave me some material receipts, which I agreed to pay, and they continued working. Once the job was completed, we did the final walkthrough and I have to say they did an awesome job on the ceiling and paint. Kalani said we were square with materials, I asked did you have to buy any more paint or anything and he said "no". So we shook hands, and I went on my way. We were going to meet in two days to square the final payment when Kalani texts me with a picture of a receipt for a gallon of paint. When we met, I refused to pay it, trying to explain that we were already square with materials, and I already asked you if you were sure. He then proceeded to swear at me, and call me things I can't type here. I paid him the balance for the labor, and we went our separate ways. In the end I am very happy with the way the ceiling came out, Kalani and his crew was always on time when we agreed to meet, they finished the job on time, did some extra upper wall painting, and labor costs were all within budget, no complaints there. I'm just posting facts hoping that this same overall outcome doesn't happen to someone else. read more

My landlord hired Kalani to to fix the drywall and ceiling in the downstairs bedroom. Although I did not hire him, I was very happy with his work. Kalani was very professional and showed up when he said he would. We have dealt with so many contractors as there is always something wrong with this rental property, but Kalani was the only contractor to show up on time and to complete the job in the timeframe that was promised. His drywall job was very smooth. You can't even tell where the old one and the new one intersect. He is very meticulous with his paint job. My husband is very picky when it comes to painters and he will make them come back to fix things if the lines are not ruler straight. Even my discerning husband was impressed with Kalani's work. The only junk thing is that I didn't know about Kalani sooner!!! He did an awesome job on patching my wall and ceiling where the old sliding door frame was removed. He arrived on time, right on the dot, and the very first thing he did was to put up plastic to restrict the dust and rubbish to the work area. After previous hellish experiences with other, inconsiderate contractors who left dust and rubbish everywhere, this was such a relief! In addition to being meticulous, clean and neat, Kalani got the job done efficiently and effectively. It wasn't a simple job, because not only was the texture between the living room and patio walls different, the stucco was different thickness. I knew that the end product wouldn't look completely smooth - I'd have to strip the entire length of the wals and ceiling to accomplish that - but just wanted it to look cleaned up nice.
