I've been going to the hut for over 4 years now and have nothing but great things to say about this group. I've bought skis, boots, bikes and just about everything from these guys and have been happy with EVERY interaction. Its nice to know that there are still small, family-owned outfits that really seek to put the customer's experience first, especially in a world of big box stores. After skiing on old ski boots for way too long, I went in looking for new boots. Had been only to REI and they had just one pair in my size, and the sales person wasn't very forthcoming about what the differences were between various brands and what I should look for. In contrast, the Alpine Hut sales person was super helpful. Brought out several boots, explained the differences, and had me stand in each pair for at least 10 minutes. Absolutely no rushing me into a purchase. He just let me experience the different styles and come to my own conclusion. I just got back from trying out my new boots at White Pass and they are perfect. I'll always be loyal to REI for hiking and backpacking gear, but I will definitely go back to Alpine Hut for ski and bike equipment. Thanks, guys! read more

They charged over $60 for a simple break pad change - other places I've taken my bicycle to for the same proceedure charged half that. When they had finished with the repair, they left by bike outside for hours during a downpour - there were lots of other bikes out there with mine. Don't bring your bike here for service - I know I won't be back. read more

I am new to skiing and have been to REI several times to learn more about skiing gear before making an investment. I have tried different lengths of skis through rentals at various resorts. I went into Alpine Hut after a friend recommended going. We went during a sale and were still happy with the selection available. I was first helped to find a ski that was good for my height and ability. The big stores do not have experts. I was told to look at the numbers on a ski by an employee at REI, but I do not know what my ability is or the numbers mean. The information did not help or make me feel comfortable spending a few hundred dollars on a ski that I will be using for the next couple years. After finding a ski, I met Kyle, who found a boot to fit. I had bought a boot the night before at REI with little help on what is good. I bought a boot that was 2.5 mondo sizes larger than I needed. Kyle was very knowledgeable and made sure I received all the gear I needed. He was patient when I tried on many boots. They fit the boot and not a price. They also set me up with bindings and poles. I added up what I was going to spend at REI at their winter sale of the skis, boots, and poles I was considering. Alpine Hut ended up being roughly the same price range. I went out skiing the next day and felt way more confident on the skis they sold me than on any other ones I have rented. I am one satisfied customer! read more

Alpine Hut is great. You walk in there and you know the person helping you will be knowledgeable about the array of skis they carry. I have purchased a few sets and boots and they were helpful getting them fitted and set up promptly. Had a warranty issue with a pair of boots and the owner Kyle got them warrantied and had me back on the slopes in no time. read more

These guys are THE BEST! I grew up in the city of Seattle and all my life using the big equipment co-op for their expertise. in the past few years their specific knowledge of the products they sell has deteriorated. After spending several hours with a boot fitter at the supposed experts, i realized they are just another mass merchandiser. They they could not get a boot close and finally said that if the ski boots hurt you could bring them back for a year of refitting. Ski boot fit is not a game. I have no time to spend the next year working out the bugs on a pair of boots that hurt in the store and never fit in the first place. I have been to Alpine Hut through the years and always had a good experience. I Emailed them, explained my sizing issues and asked if they were up to the challenge. Kyle scheduled an afternoon appointment with me. Immediately after looking at my foot and calf he had a plan. A couple hours later I walked out with a pair of ski boot with the expectation that I would be back for adjustments. I have skied 18 days on these boots so far this season and my feet are the happiest they have ever been. 20 runs before lunch last Sunday and I never even loosened the boots during the break, then back on the hill. I checked out this place to support a local shop. They are nice but the experience felt as if I was at a large department store. All they did was recommend super feet and didn't spend much time looking to see if my boots worked or how it felt. I ended up going to Sturtevants in Bellevue and got a lot more help there, I got a lot of useful feedback and got a lot of follow up adjustments with them after skiing each time. I believe alpine hut provides the same service but in general I felt as they tried to get me out the store where as Sturtevants wanted me to come back even though I wasn't spending anymore money there. There is nothing negative about the place, just that the their shop has done a better job and won me over. I'm sure they care about their work so hopefully this review gets to someone there. I may check back here sometime in the future. read more

Jim, rocks. I went in on a slow weekday, and was looking for some ski boots and trying different stuff out, and this dude Jim, that works there, who actually skis, gave me, what I felt to be his actual opinion. Because I went for boots on April they were pretty much picked through( as far as sizes, so they didn't have my size) but he still gave me really good advice, and didn't try to push me in to BS that I don't need. That was awesome. Needless to say, I will buy a boot online or wherever, and skis online, but I will be going back there to have my stuff set-up because the dude knew what he was talking about and was super cool. great experience so far. hate to say this but it needs to be said. I had a really bad experience wit the Alpine Hut lately and you need to be aware of it. I took my skis in there to get tuned up. i have given Alpine Hut a good amount of my ski equipment business and they have always been pretty fair. This experience was different though. First off, the charged me 80 for a basic tune up....OK...no biggie...I like to support small businesses and Alpine is one of them so OK.....but what I got was basically a bindings adjustment and hot wax..that's it. I went to get the skis and gave them the once over and saw that there was rust on the edges near the tips and when I inquired about it...i was told..."it doesn't matter...its on the tips"....well....ummmm...OK....but for 80 bux you couldn't have cleaned it up......ummmmmm...its called professionalism.....and the thing that bothered me the most was that the rust was there and it kinda told me that they may not have even tuned the edges at all....again...professionalism.... Im just sayin....maybe Alpine hit is more for last minute stuff and small purchases than tune ups and equipment care........just not professional enough for me..... read more

I will never buy ski boots from anywhere else ever again! Kyle has an endless amount of tricks up his sleeve to make sure you end up in the right boot, and then he makes sure that those boot fit you PERFECTLY! I tried on many many boots until I found my glass slippers...thankfully Kyle also has a lot of patience :-) The custom foot beds make a huge difference, but Kyle also modified the boot itself so that I had no pressure points. I wanted a boot that was stiff enough to perform well when I needed it, but also a boot that I could stand up in all day - I don't want sore and cold feet to cut my day short on the slopes.
