I came to Svetlana for alterations on a courthouse style bridal dress (wanted her advice on hem length, considering adding bra cups, adjustments to hip) and Svetlana kindly sent me away, saying I really didn't need the alterations (and explaining the why- eg if I adjusted the hips it would be too tight to sit, recommending a different solution to bra cups that would work better with the dress, etc). I obviously don't have experience with altering wedding gowns but she did a brilliant job at talking me through it and making me feel comfortable and like family. She shortened my dress slightly and made sure I could wear my 4inch heels. I should have spoken up when I noticed the tailor relied on his memory rather than tailors chalk or safety pins to identify how much adjustment would be needed for two of my sport coats. He was able to address sleeve length but both sport coats exhibited collar roll. One needed to be let out while the other had to be taken in. I paid $180 in total. These sport coats are from Paul Stuart and The Armoury, extra fabric is provided for alterations. In any case I come back a week later and while the sleeve length was corrected I still noticed collar roll in both jackets. I know he did work on them but in my experience I have never experienced a tailor who didn't use chalk or safety pins to make temporary marks. This is why. Such a shame. I won't be using them again and I have so much more work I could give them. read more

Vladimir did a seriously incredible job on a couple pairs of really complicated pants I wanted resized. This wasn't a simple job: I had two pairs of athleisure (so synthetic material) trousers that needed to be taken in at the waist and butt in order to fit me properly, and the alteration required moving seams. Was really impressed by the quality of the work and the speed in which the job was completed. (a week for such a complicated job was surprising!) The pants now look and feel like they came off the rack. Customer service is excellent , and I appreciated his opinion on how they should fall given the material of the trousers. Given the complicity, I really appreciated how patiently he explained how he would be performing the alteration. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is that the store smells very strongly of cigarette smoke, so folks with sensitive noses might have a bit of trouble. To be clear, the clothes do not smell of smoke, just the shop. Pricing is not cheap, but this is the only place I'll go for anything more complicated than a simple hemming. If you're not a standard size, this is the place to go, because after he's done with them, your clothes will look and fit as if you originally bought them like that. read more

Brought in my halter top prom dress to get straps added to the back. Svetlana was very kind and honest with her advice on what could work for the dress. She got it done on such short notice (less than a week) and she even worked with the difficult fabric I'd brought in. Her pricing was very reasonable for the service ($80-$130) and she insisted I get it discounted. The work snatched my waist just how I'd wanted and she brought me back in after the fitting when the strap length wasn't adequate. I highly highly highly highly recommend this place. I brought in my mom's vintage dress that is over 36 years old due to the zipper was broken. It also would not fit me due to I'm a little bit wider than my mom was when she wore this dress. The woman was able to put in a corset backing, which made this dress even more beautiful. She was also able to get it done within a few weeks. I was so happy with everything that she has done to bring my mom's vintage dress back to life. After my wedding was delayed two years because of COVID I didn't believe it was finally happening so I waited until 6 weeks out to find a seamstress (yay procrastination). I live in Juneau AK and no one in town would alter my dress. I was frantic. The owner Vladimir does the leather work so, a day after Tamila took the coat in, he called with his estimate and asked for my O.K. to proceed.
