I love the people here - very friendly and fast! Curry Chicken Wrap hits the spot. I like the chutney and grapes in my wrap, but the overall taste is the reason why I keep ordering it. I always see Aloha Salads around downtown but the parking situation is no bueno so when my friends and I went to Kahala, I knew this was my opportunity to eat here finally! Their salad prices are quite expensive but I thought it was worth the try. I got the Thai Satay salad with chicken and a cup of their tomato bisque! Their dressing for the satay was very good, but the chicken was pretty dry. The highlight of aloha salads was their amazing tomato bisque. Ordered the mini salads the "ono island ahi" and "big island beet". The ahi needed more work: it wasn't cooked at all on the outside part (after requesting) and wasn't cut all the way through (simply scored), so it was difficult to eat as individual bite-sized pieces of fish. It was hard for me to eat because I did not have sharp enough cutlery to cut it myself. It was also a filet with the sinew left on the bottom so it chewed like rubber; a very thin filet with a depressing, bland rub. I would suggest soy sauce just to mimic the preparation of poke... which we all love and are familiar with. The "bib" is okay but a small tiny scoop of goat cheese and too much dried cranberries. My most favorite lunch spot of all time- Aloha Salads Kahala is always staffed with friendly workers who are enthusiastic about delivering beautiful and healthy meals. The manager Shawn remembers my name and my order, and is always willing to go above and beyond with special requests. They'll even make a catering salad in your own dish if you bring it to them when you order. Most recently I discovered their family-size tomato bisque portion and have made that a regular go-to for quick family dinners. I used to get salads from Aloha Salads a lot when it first opened. I returned last night to get a "goddess" salad.... 1) the "goddess" dressing is thick and creamy; when I think of healthy salads, I don't think of this dressing. 2) for $13, I got a small salad, a ton of pine nuts, some mushy papaya, avocado and 6 tiny pieces of steak (really, these pieces accumulated to about the size of the prong part of my fork). 3) The cashier had to charge my card again...why? "I did it wrong the first time". Okay, at least you admit to your mistakes. I get that they use local products....but really? Had a gift card to use so I decided to give it a try. Ordered the large portion Ahi salad, medium and it was delicious. The Ahi was flavorful and cooked just right. The salad had all the goodies and the dressing really complimented it nicely. I would eat a salad like this daily (if someone would make it for me!). I also got a large tomato bisque and it was as some of the best tomato bisque I have ever eaten! Pricing was a little high, it was $23 for my large salad and large soup. I came here two days in a row. On day 1, after paying for my salad I asked for a printed receipt, which contains a QR code you scan with your phone to collect loyalty points. The employee rips off the scan code and hands me just the receipt. She puts the code beside the register along with a stack of codes. I asked her to give me the code so I can scan it for points. She gave me a startled look and handed me the code as if she forgot. The next day the same thing happens. After ringing me up, the girl walks away. When my food comes I ask for the receipt. She then rips off the QR code and gives me just the receipt (different employee this time). It seems as if there is no manager around and the employees are collecting the customers points and using it for themselves or giving them away to friends or something. Or did the boss tell them to try and hide them so they don't have to give away free salads. They're stealing/lying to the customers by doing this. I hope the owner/manager puts a stop to this dishonest and unrighteous behavior. And the service was very bad. Long unnecessary waits just to take your order and wait for your food. Usually I would let things slide but this was unacceptable. My clam chowder that I had ordered came burnt and smelled absolutely horrible. The quality and service has gone down consistently over time. Portions have gotten smaller. The pita bread is now half of a half. On 7/05/24, I ordered online which is the one thing I like about this place. I got a Cobb salad which previously I could sub mushrooms for tomatoes with no charge and no problem. This time, I had to pay extra for the mushrooms. When I got home, I found no mushrooms! Was it worth the 95 cents to call the store about? No. The chicken was like rubber and the smashed up slice of avocado was like a why even bother. This was less than disappointing. I keep saying I'm not going back. This made me sad... On Sunday we were in line at the Aloha Salads in Kahala Mall and watched as an unhappy customer was returning what he had purchased. it looked like he was asking for a refund on, what looked like, two wraps. For whatever reason, the young girl behind the counter refused to give this man back his money. He complained about there being no Humus in his wraps. Upset, he opened up both wraps and asked them to show him where the Humus was....He said it was the second time it has happened and that he had to drive back from home to deal with this. It made me upset to see this because of the way the young woman at the register handled it. This man explained that he had a plane to catch and demanded his refund. This young woman, still refused to refund him. Being that she was the only one of the four or five workers there without a uniform on, I thought that she was the owner or manager. I thought that she looked too young to be the owner, but you never know, nowadays. Nevertheless, this man was repeatedly told that he was not going to get a refund, despite him giving the two items back. From behind the counter everyone could hear this employee scream and cuss at this man. It was so unprofessional and it was what made me realize that she was not the owner. There is no way an owner would do all that this young woman took it upon herself to do. here was even one point in which the girl acted as if she was going to throw the sandwich at his face. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Clearly upset, the man reached into the tip jar grabbed the money and said that he would take his refund from there. I cant say that I agree with that action, and certainly wouldn't have the nerve to do such a bold move. However, The young woman, behind the counter, refused this mans refund. by now, everybody in that section of the mall was watching as this scene unfolded. As the visibly upset man walked out with the tip money in hand, this girl took out her phone and began to video record him. He tried several times to swat the girls phone away from in front of his face, all to no avail. Then, he suddenly threw the money at her as he said, what I could only assume to be some choice words of his own back at her. I couldn't hear what he said being that they were at that point out of the mall and in front of Whole Foods. The young employee came back in the mall with the money in her hand, cursing like a sailor. It was unbelievable. Then, just as we all thought it was over, The man came back in, headed to the counter to ask again for his refund. We couldn't believe that this girl not only refused him once more, but proceeded to call 911, telling them that it was an emergency, then in speaking with the 911 emergency operator began to say how he hit her and took her money. then gave the police a description of him and requested that they come to Aloha Salads immediately. My 86 year old mother was with me and couldn't get over the fact that this girl took up a 911 emergency resource for what she described as "shameful mall drama nonsense." It wasn't until this man came from the back of Aloha Salads, and in an ever so calm demeanor began to speak with the girl which prompted her to open the register before the he took out the refund and handed it over to the now satisfied customer. The customer, or should I assume, former customer, walked off without a word being said and exited the mall. Then we say the police lights outside arrive as we made our way to Jamba Juice. This was shameful. Why this man had such a hard time getting a refund was beyond us. I was born and raised in Kahala and have been coming to the mall here my whole life. I have never witnessed such unprofessional behavior in my 61 years of life, anywhere as bad as what we witnessed on Sunday. My mom, was especially repulsed and vowed to never eat from Aloha Salads again. After witnessing a simple return that was not only refused, but escalated into a big ugly scene that didn't at all have to happen. I know this for sure, I wont be eating at Aloha Salads if that young girl is working behind the counter. I feel for the owners, who probably worked so hard to get their business to where it is at, pay the mall its rent for the space, which, I am sure, is not be cheap, only to have a single paid employee lose customers because she refuses to act in a professional manner. Salad was ok for the price. But the service was horrible. The young girls working there were abrupt. As soon as I got to the counter, i was demanded to order at the register. I almost left because I wasn't spoken to politely. There is no sense of please or thank you by any of the girls serving me. Another customer next to me told the girls, "Sorry, now I know where to go to pick up next time". Why was she apologizing to the worker? The worker responded, "that's ok". Customers should not be made to feel like they need to apologize. When my food was ready, She called my name, left it on the table and walked away. Maybe im old school, but in my day, that would have been unacceptable customer service. I will remember that and not likely to go back unless I forget what it was like. If you like a fruity salad that doesn't need dressing because it is banging with taste, get the Aloha Pineapple! I love Aloha Salads, but this specific one kills me with their waits. There could be no line and it'll still take me 30 min to get my food. This last visit was exceptionally slow... and painful. I walked up to the cash register like usual, and like usual made note of the new staff. The girl at the register, although sweet, could not find any of the buttons. It was so bad, that she had to ask the person making the salads where buttons where- holding up the production of the previous orders. But even the both of them at the register was like watching paint dry. I almost suggested that they call a supervisor or trainer to assist, but I wanted to be patient and not be rude. Finally, the agony of the ordering done. Kahala mall is always busy with no tables, so I decided I scope out a table first and watch those that got there before me get their food before standing there for my order. The usual 30 min later and I grab my order. They read it back and it sounds good. I open it and was disappointed. I wanted no mustard, but mayo (didn't happen). I wanted mango sub for onion because I'm allergic to onions (there were onions in my salad). I wanted dressing tossed light and paid for a side dressing- no side dressing present. I went back to inform them of the problem and tried to stand to the side/front of the line. When she was done with the cashier I tried to tell her that my order wasn't right and she told me to wait. By the time everything was correct it was almost 2 hours before I got my food. I LOVE Kahala Mall. I LOVE Aloha Salads. BUT, this Aloha Salad location has lost my business. The skimpy servings of toppings was so disappointing considering that IS the salad when there is no protein. I also found it very disappointing that the corn they use is from a can. One of my biggest gripes is when restaurants make salad and do not take apart the romaine hearts, this should be standard for a food establishment specializing in salad!!! I usually come here a lot before for their tomato bisque. But it's a hit and miss sometimes they would only fill your cup half way! And I paid $6-7 for that. Disappointing! Reason I kinda just stop buying it. Today, I decided to come here after a long time. I was disappointed when they totally forgot my order and had me waiting for a long time till they notice. And then I notice the girl who was preparing the food went to the register and did a transaction with the gloves she had on previously from preparing food. Located in Kahala Mall right next to Grylt and Starbucks. I always make sure to stop by here when I'm hungry and in the area. With no reserved seating, be prepared to stand while waiting for your food unless you're lucky to find seating in the food court but that gets filled fairly quickly. I was always curious and a bit skeptical about Aloha Salads. Every time I passed by, it seemed as if they never had any customers. But I'm pleased to report that there is much to discover! The Kahuku shrimp was hot and tasted as if it were just grilled. And their papaya seed dressing was also pretty interesting. It was very sweet and left a pleasant aftertaste. While ordering I learned that the regular size order comes with 4 pieces of shrimp, or you can order a smaller one for $2 less and comes with 2 pieces. But no matter what size you get, I would highly recommend getting the salad dressing on the side. That way you can control the amount of dressing on your salad! The service was fast! I was in and out in within 5 minutes and my salad even came with two hot pieces of pita bread! The best part is that everything is local! Hmm...I wonder if they just buy ingredients from Wholefoods next door. But for $9.25 I'd say it's fairly priced for a salad. After all eating healthy is EXPENSIVE! Aloha Salads and Whole Foods are 2 of my favorite places to get a salad in Kahala Mall. I love salads that have a lot of fixings on it, because I'm not the type that can just eat greens plain. Some of my favorite salads there are: 1) Aloha Passion 2) Paia Pomegranate 3) Aloha Pineapple 4) Make your own salad creation I also love their soup and sandwiches, so most of the time I get their Salad and Soup or Sandwich Combo. It's nice to see fast food places that are offering healthier options. Eternally on some sort of diet, I do actually try to avoid the fried chicken sometimes and get a light meal. I don't usually do yelp reviews but here I am... I love coming here, but there are two things that bother me. One, the customer service at the Kahala location is just horrible. They always act like it is a chore when I ask for something as simple as utensils. Additionally, if you have a favorite salad they make it different every time. I don't understand why they can't be consistent. It's also a hit or miss, it is either good or bad. The biggest thing though is the customer service and quality, it would be nice to see more effort.
