Delicious alternative to fast food at the mall! We were going to eat at California Pizza Kitchen but are trying to be healthy and decided to try this place instead. So happy we did! Got a gift card so decided to try this place out. They even have locations in Japan! The prices are a bit high, but the flavor and quality is very good. I got the aloha tuna sub (with mangoes and strawberries) and the curried chicken wrap. Both were very flavorful. I have never had fresh tuna salad mixed with those fruits, but it was very refreshing. Used to love ordering takeout from the downtown location because they would always load up on the meat and the quantity/quality was consistent, but since that one closed down, we ordered from Kahala. I ordered on two separate occasions to give them benefit of doubt, but both times the salad was lacking. There was little and overcooked steak each time. The fruit was fresh (hence 3 stars), but for such an expensive salad, I would expect at least well cooked meat. Not pictured is a shrimp salad which has an extra cost and we only got 4 shrimps. Ive been reluctant to try this place for years because I just couldnt see myself paying $10 plus dollars for a salad that I could make at home for half the price. Well, today I finally caved in and tried their regular ahi salad which came out to $15.50. The ahi pieces have gotten smaller than the ones pictured from couple months ago. On to the salad itself, it was plentiful and I think it can feed two people, maybe? I make no promises. I have a big appetite and was getting filled about 3/4 way through. They gave enough dressing for the entire salad which was nice instead of having to scrape the little dressing container at other places. All of the fruits and toppings paired nicely, especially the shredded coconut which I would never have thought about adding to my own salad. I can now replicate this salad at home....for half the price. I'll be back when I'm too lazy to make it myself. read more

VERY disappointed in this location. I ordered at the counter a design-your-own salad and soups. Cashier was busy inputting something, so I waited patiently. When he was ready for me to order, he just looked at me...no greeting, no "thanks for waiting", nothing. My order was very simple: lettuce, 4 toppings, cheese, and dressing (no protein that needed to be cooked) and 2 soups. Way overpriced, but I'm pregnant with a toddler and did not have the energy to make it myself. After ordering, I waited in front for over 20 minutes. It was a Wednesday around 1pm. It was busy, but not chaotic. And they had enough workers, at least one at each station and there weren't too many other customers waiting. Once I saw the people who ordered after me get their orders, I checked to see where mine was. They didn't really respond, but by their faces and responses, it was as if they had lost it and scrambled quickly to make it. No apology or explanation for the long wait/confusion. And when I got home, they forgot 2 of the 4 toppings. And the toppings I did get, were very small portions. Let's start with the positive: I placed an online order for the Kahala location, which was convenient. I always appreciate a place that lets me order online instead of needing to call. My husband went to pick up the food, and everything was ready pretty quickly. We were both hungry, so quick service is always appreciated. The not-so-great: I made some changes to the salad I ordered as I cut dairy from my diet. I asked for no cheese and the green goddess dressing instead of something creamy. I was disappointed when I opened the box to find parmesan bits and casear dressing instead of what I ordered. In general, I know they have fairly good food as I've eaten there before. Aloha Salads is a life saver on those days when I know that I should eat healthy things but all I want is a gigantic Jamba Juice Orange Dream Machine which I know is like drinking the caloric equivalent of a Big Mac. I choose the hard things and so therefore, I CHOOSE SALAD!!! Usually I order a large Big Island Beet salad ($11.50) which is gigantic and I can usually stretch it into two separate meals. It's a big bed of greens, roasted beets, goat cheese, mangoes, cranberries and candied walnuts. It also comes with a dressing but I'm hard core, so I don't use dressing. lol. I also like the Satay ($12 with chicken) which is cabbage, romaine, carrots, cucumber, cilantro, won ton, peanuts and a thai dressing. Whatever salad you choose, at least you know you made one good choice for the day! I just ordered on DoorDash and pay $22 for a salad and the topping sizes were ridiculous. I even paid extra for avocado. The amount of avocado I got was comical, along with the other toppings, like beats and bell pepper. I called and they said they had someone training. Alright, so here's the deal: I've been coming here for a few months now consistently picking up salads for the office. I'm going to give it 4 stars because I do believe that for the price in Hawaii, it's the best healthy salad that you're going to get. Based off the fact that there just aren't that many salad places. The salads are pretty customizable and you can do it all online without having to call and worry if they heard you right. It's ready by the time you get there so it ensures that you will have plenty of time on your lunch to eat and relax after picking it up. I would give it 5 stars but they have forgotten a few of our orders or a few of the items in an order including the protein. If this happens to you just call right away and let them know that they forgot and they will be more than accommodating the next time you order (a free salad or something else). I've always like the salads since they opened up in Kahala and even way back when they were in Ward Warehouse. I recently ordered a Mediterranean Salad. I asked for steak as a protein. The steak was not chewable and edible. It was full of tendons and not pleasant to eat or chew. The beef cut you are providing is of very low quality. I think that I only ate about three very small pieces from the serving I had in my salad. Can this be improved? I will visit again but will not ask for beef again. Thanks. read more
