This is my new favorite restaurant in the area! The service was great and the food was excellent, I especially appreciate the atmosphere (modern but comfortable). We chose the 4 course meal and we were not disappointed. Just the right amount of food and the pairings were out of this world. My favorite was the oyster fried rice (the curry-coconut broth set it apart) and my wife was a huge fan of the crispy banana. If you are going to splurge, this place is worth it. read more

I've been here a couple times and what a welcome addition to Ashburn! The first time, the Mister and I stumbled in on a bad weather night at the last minute after Rhino looked too busy. We were a bit nervous after looking at the menu since we are pescatarians, since it is very meat heavy. However, I picked the fish (I can't remember the name, I had never heard it before), but it tasted similar to tuna. It was great! The Mister ordered the vegetarian "spaghetti and meatballs" which was spaghetti squash with meatballs made of quinoa and lentils. He absolutely loved it. I was skeptical because every time I've had squash in place of pasta it's been a terrible. Fast forward a couple more weeks, and we came back with another couple. This time, I tried the spaghetti and meatballs and he ordered it again because he loved it so much. Wow, was I wrong. The spaghetti squash was fantastic, the sauce was amazing and was much more filling that it first appeared. Our friends got roast chicken and the trout. They both loved their food. The thing with AhSo, is that they do not rush you. Your food is not rushed out, so plan for that and just enjoy your time. This is not a restaurant where you put your order in and it comes out in 15 minutes. Its a nice change. What I fear is that because the menu changes so often, I'll show up one day and the vegetarian and/or seafood options will get even smaller. But, until then, I have enjoyed both my meals there and look forward to future meals! read more

I'm not a fan of the fine dining movement where the simplest things are turned into some kind of magical creation that you can't tell the difference between a burger and the deconstructed ground meat with bun cut up in pieces with a chipotle aioli and deep fried "fancy" pickles. When my mom said we would be going here for Mothers Day and I looked at the menu I thought "ugh another pretentious restaurant". Sneak peak ahead: I was pleasantly surprised. We have seen many restaurants inhabit this little area in Brambleton and the decor change that occurred here makes the spot seem trendy and like a real 5 star NYC restaurant, including a window into the kitchen to see behind the scenes. We got sat quickly and there was a decent size crowd for Mothers Day brunch (Sunday is the only day they do brunch). Our waiter was very helpful and very friendly, which is always a plus at a "fancy" restaurant. We started with mimosas and a blini (which was not so peachy which I was happy about). I will say since everything is made fresh and grown local, things take a bit longer to come out. The raisin bread took a good 20 minutes to arrive to the table and at that point I was about to bite someones hand off. Yet when that fluffy fresh bread showed up with a side of butter with orange peel inside, I couldn't be angry because it was so good. For meals we tried the following: the quiche, the salmon eggs benedict, the breakfast burger, and the salad with a side of bacon cheese grits. Everything was absolutely excellent. The burger had a really unique flavor and you could tell it was fresh and never frozen. The only thing I didnt like about it was that the bacon was like a real slab of pork not the good ole process crap you are used to. I am not a huge fan of pork fat so I had to cut a decent amount off of this natural pork. The salmon benedict was so light and so easy to scarf down in seconds (note its only one egg on top). The cheese/bacon grits were absolutely heavenly, definitely the unhealthy hero at the table. We enjoyed all of our meals and the service was pretty good, just be ready to wait. Overall expensive place but nothing too crazy outrageous that you can't afford it/can't find anything "normal" on the menu to eat. Cant wait to try dinner here! read more

My husband and I entered the restaurant to find that we were the only guest which is definitely a plus (normally). We enthusiastically headed to the bar and ordered our drinks. We were never greeted by the female type bartender. When we asked her a question about one of the drinks she became snippy and short. Her response was not very nice at all. The drinks were delish. We began to order dinner and again was met with the same negative attitude from the bartender. Gosh what a party pooper. Do to her negative attitude we decided not to eat dinner and find another place that to spend our hard earned money. Definitely different from my first dinner experience here. I really want this place to succeed but it seems like this individual as another agenda in mind. Definitely don't think that we will back do to the ill treatment of the bartender. This is easily our favorite restaurant in Loudoun county. We go here about 2-3x per month (on average) for both dine-in and take-out options and I can truly say we've never had a bad meal. The chef Jason does a great job incorporating fresh regional ingredients wherever possible and uses them in very creative and tasty ways. The bartender, Phil, is extraordinary as well. If the cocktails listed on the menu don't appeal let him know the types of drinks you like and he'll whip up something new and flavorful. I tend to veer towards the wine list and this is quite good as well. I'd always prefer a few more selections by the glass and some more "off the beaten trail" bottles and varietals but what they have is great and will go well with the food they serve. Finally, Christian and all the waitstaff do a fantastic job running the front of the house. You're in excellent hands here. read more

The food is sensational -- I've eaten in many places on several continents, and AhSo's menu stacks up with the best: creative interpretations, local ingredients, perfect preparation. My favourite NoVA restaurant by far. There are many NoVA restaurants that are absolutely fantastic -- Clarity, L'Auberge -- but Ahso is the best of them. Probably doesn't hurt that it's in my backyard. The farm to table menu ensures that the food is always amazing. The cocktails are top notch. Phil & the other bartenders make amazing cocktails. Tell them your favourite drink & then trust that they'll make an amazing cocktail for you. Chef Jason is serious about his food & the wine selection is outstanding. This is my favorite restaurant in Ashburn! I've found the food to be consistently amazing. In the past I've been a huge fan of their duck. Since covid hit I've tried the ramen via takeout and really enjoyed that as well. I think this restaurant is one of the better choices in the area, especially for a date night. read more

4 Star food. But very loud and very slow. Very cool industrial look, but that means no sound dampening. Cocktails were just okay and husband was not impressed with the wine list. But! The food. Very good, very playful. With a few issues. No photos due to dim lighting. Lacquered duck appetizer was delicious, but the sweet potato gnocchi was bland. Foie gras appetizer was excellent. Beef carpaccio was bland, but the cured egg yolk that cane with it was amazing. Short rib cavatelli was good, but not really what we were expecting. It tasted exactly like pot roast, carrots included. Probably wouldn't order again. The pork cassoulet was OUTSTANDING. Pork shank falling off the bone. Super flavorful sausage. And the best part - smoky grilled pork belly. Tender vinegary and tomato-y beans. Would eat every day. Also, they are no longer including tip in menu prices. They have switched to the traditional system. Improve the speed out of the kitchen and find a way to tone down the noise and it would be a 4-Star spot. read more

My wife and I were very excited to dine at AhSo having been to their other restaurant in Vienna, Clarity. It did not disappoint. We had the foie gras, scallop and bacon, and split the rib eye. Everything's was tasty and came out on perfectly. We also had a few cocktails from the bartender Phil (of Mokomandy fame). As a very friendly touch they split the ribeye on to two plates for us (with nice playing). Service was attentive and we felt well taken care of. Everyone from hostess, waiter, and manager was very friendly and polite. As others have said the tip is included so factor that in to the prices you see on the menu. After the experience we had we felt like it was justified. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Even when he didn't know something he went and checked and came back. Great hustle. AhSo is a very welcome addition to this location and we will back as their menu changes often. I know there are a few other critical reviews but it's important to keep in mind that they are newly opened so there are bound to be wrinkles. That said, I could tell that all of the staff care, are working hard, and their hearts are in it. We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit. read more

Our first experience at Ahso was for New Year's Eve. A group of 8 planned to celebrate NYE and experience this new restaurant in our community together. They had a 4-course, prix-fixe menu, which we had to prepay. It started off shaky, as we waited an hour for bread and our first round of drinks, but after speaking with the owners, things quickly turned around! Our NYE experience dramatically changed and the food was DIVINE!! There wasn't a plate presented that was not devoured from all 8 of us! I had the roasted beet salad, seared scallops, bison short rib, and the chocolate hazelnut torte. If I were to make one suggestion, it would be that the torte was too dry. Otherwise, the food was amazing! Thank you to the owners and chef for an amazing experience! We will definitely be back! read more

Overall a good experience. Definitely worth trying out and giving them a chance to impress you. As with any new restaurant it will take a little bit of time to iron out service/menu/offerings (believe happy hour and weekend brunch are in the works). Ambiance/aesthetic (A): comfortable upscale. Feels like a nice evening out without being too stuffy. Warm environment, fire place flickering, floor to ceiling wine bottle display. They did a nice job with it. Service (A): Greeted right away by hostess and sat right away. Within a minute or two we were greeting by our server, water glasses were filled and we were handed the wine and cocktail lists. The entire meal, servers were roaming (appropriately/pretty inconspicuously) and always available. Cleared plates in a timely fashion and kept water glass full. Chef Jason and the GM both stopped by during the meal to quickly say hello and make sure everything was going ok...nice touch. Drinks (A+): cocktails were fantastic and wine list was strong (really liked the way the list provided information about grape, region, pairing suggestions, etc). Food (B): Started with scallop/pork belly and beet salad dishes. If I'm being picky, would've liked a sear on the Scallops...but all things considered, both dishes were pretty good. I had the lamb shoulder entree which was served over a bed of greens and a mash/puree of some kind (believe it was cauliflower). Good flavors and all of the elements worked well together. My wife had the Rockfish dish; unfortunately it was way too salty making it hard to enjoy. We finished with the Apple skillet pie desert, which just wasn't very exciting. Overall Value/Experience (B): our $130 bill, all-in, felt about right for our experience. Nice spot with good service...2 glasses of wine, 2 cocktails, 2 starters, 2 entrees and a dessert. I'm confident they'll continue to improve and adjust as they get to know their clientele. After reading all the rave reviews and knowing that the chef learned from J Krinn at Clarity we really had our hopes up. Unfortunately Chef doesn't measure up to his Mentor. I had the lamb ragout and there was so much vinegar in sauce I couldn't eat it. My daughter had the diver scallops and they were way too salty! My husband had the very blue collar tempura avocado and the quartet of pork (boring!). The whole meal was $300+ for 3! Way over price for a non descriptive mall restaurant ! We'd rather spend that kind of money at Clarity! read more

We went to AhSo on opening weekend and were very happy with our service and the food as well. We took the kids with us and were glad we did as they loved the burger and fries! I had the grilled chicken entrée which was seasoned so well and was so tender that I will be ordering that again! My wife had a steak which was also cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service and was very happy that the owner took time away from the kitchen to come and talk to us. He was very kind and related very well with the kids. Since it is a new place and because the owner is always looking at ways to improve, I will suggest just one recommendation. When any customer walks in the door, they should be greeted immediately with excitement that fits a new place. I noticed several times that customers were walking in and were aimlessly looking around until someone eventually came to them. Also, when customers leave and there is a host present, I think it's an absolute must to wish them. Just some things that may not seem to be major but all add up to the overall experience. We will definitely be going back and appreciate that a restaurant with such class is open at our town center! read more
