We've been coming to Nick's Taverna for some time now, and it's hands down one of my favorite places to eat. The biggest thing I appreciate is the consistency--the food tastes exactly the way it should every single time. You never have to wonder if you're going to get a good meal because you always do. What makes Nick's special is that it's truly family owned. The family is from Greece, and they're still very involved in the restaurant. They even come in and contribute many of the recipes, which is why the food tastes so authentic. You can tell it's made with tradition and pride, not just following a generic menu. Their happy hour is one of the best around, with great food and drink specials that are tough to beat. The service is always friendly and welcoming, and they make you feel like you're part of the family. There are plenty of places to get Greek food, but I always find myself coming back to Nick's. This was the first time we went to Nick's. The food was very good, our server Tim was efficient and got us everything we needed. We started with the Greek salad, feta cheese was creamy and flavorful, dressing was a nice surprise it was creamy, and flavorful. Our Greek burger was flavorful and cooked perfectly, lamb souvlaki was very good the pita tasted house made, light and delicate! A touch too much garlic on the lamb but that might be just me, I'm not a fan of a lot of garlic. Tim said the baklava was excellent. Next time we will try that. We will be back! read more

The chicken shawarma is on point. Well seasoned chicken and great bread. The toum is perfectly garlicky to accompany it. That's what brought me back a second time. However, the salad that came with the gyro was missing the dressing. I thought it was an honest mistake but it happened a second time, even requesting Greek dressing in the notes. Both times were takeout so I can't comment on the ambiance but I'd have to ding the service for forgetting the dressing, twice. read more

This place is our go-to for souvlakis and gyros. And their fries are AMAZING, it stays crispy even when we order it as takeout. HOWEVER because we always order it as takeout, the fries get packaged in styrofoam boxes and it literally is melting the box, so unhealthy, we usually end up throwing away the fries. That is the only reason why I knocked off 1 star. The staff are always friendly and if you eat in, their restaurant is very decently sized! Management - please consider changing out your to-go boxes, at least for hot items like fries. read more

We've been to Nick's Taverna several times now, originally drawn in by the live band -- and honestly, that's still what brings us back. The live music nights create a great atmosphere and clearly attract a crowd, so we've quickly learned the value of arriving early if you want a good spot. That said, the food being consistently good is a very welcome bonus. Every visit has delivered solid dishes, and the seasonal food and drink specials are always appealing and worth trying. It's nice to see a menu that mixes reliability with something new. One small critique for management or ownership: you have a legitimate stage in the restaurant... and it's not being used. Instead, the full band is squeezed into a corner of an already crowded bar area. It feels like a missed opportunity, especially when there's clearly a better setup available that could improve the experience for both the band and the guests. Overall, if you're looking for a lively spot with good food and great live music energy, Nick's Taverna is definitely worth checking out -- just get there early on music nights. read more

I've been a longtime customer of Nick's Taverna, and this experience was completely unacceptable. I visited with my husband and we ordered several dishes, including the mezze platter. When I took a bite of one of the dips, I immediately realized something was wrong--there was a piece of plastic in it. Our waitress was excellent. She apologized right away, handled the situation professionally, and even brought a replacement dip (which we didn't ask for because we were already full). She did everything right. The manager, however, was the exact opposite. No apology. No concern. No accountability. She came over with a cold attitude and said she had checked the kitchen and found nothing, then claimed she was "just checking in." Her tone and behavior made it very clear she didn't believe me and was implying I was either lying or trying to get something out of it. That is completely unacceptable. Finding plastic in your food is bad enough. Being treated like you're dishonest on top of that is insulting. This is what poor management looks like. We've supported this restaurant for years--bringing friends, family, and recommending it often. We were even planning to attend their Mother's Day event with a group, and after this, I immediately told them not to go. Mistakes happen. How you handle them matters. This was handled terribly, and the manager's behavior alone is enough to make sure we don't come back. read more

Tried this place on a whim after a cycle class, and was absolutely blown away! The food was amazing. Everything was fresh and handmade, nothing was mass produced or frozen. Even the fried stuff was crisp and non-greasey, and the meats were juicy and very tender with good char. Service was excellent, timely and attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere was very calm. 10/10 would recommend. read more

We have a family of four and had three entrees, a kids meal, and wife and I had wine and beer and left for under $100 with enough leftovers for two lunches which is hard to do around this area. We found this restaurant for lunch before watching a movie in the nearby Fox Regal Theater. The restaurant was not full at all on a Sunday afternoon, and we were promptly seated. The service here is impressive. The server kept checking on us. The person at the front desk already had our table set up as we had made prior reservations. Definitely a notch above what we get at most restaurants today. Here is what we ordered: - Zucchini Fritters: these are just delicious. Perfectly seasoned and so good. Definitely a must have. - Lentil Soup: this is a big size portion. Easily shareable by two. We were expecting mezze style, but this was definitely bigger. And the soup was delicious. The tinge of lemon was a perfect touch. - Mezze Platter: this is quite a big size platter. Everything from the hummus, the falafels, grape leaves, and other things were delicious. - Tabouleh: this was decent. Tasted good. - Falafel sandwich: this was yummy too. Wish the falafels were a bit more flavorful and spicy. Felt a bit bland. The complementary pita chips and hummus were really good too. Overall, we loved the food here. Definitely highly recommended. Headed to see a movie with my husband and we had some time to kill. We are still new to the Ashburn area but we stumbled upon this gem. It was just after lunchtime and the place was moderately busy. We were seated upon arrival, drink and food orders taken. They have a full bar and 2 dining areas. One is off to the side for larger parties. While we waited we were given hummus and homemade pita chips. This little pre meal surprise was so yummy. The hummus was perfectly seasoned and the chips were crispy and fresh. My husband had the chicken shawarma wrap and French fries. I had Chicken Souvlaki you can get just the entree or you can add a Greek salad with fries for a few dollars more. Overall you get fresh, delicious quality food for a great value. Our waiter Nick was nice and so welcoming! Looking forward to many more visits and next time I will try the baklava. read more

Visited Nick's for the first time. Food was very flavorful and plentiful. Salads were fresh with great dressings. All four people in our party had great meals. Service was very good. We were looking for a bite after a nearby soccer game on Sunday evening and Nick's was wonderful. The appetizers were fun and delicious. The calamari and dip my family got were very good but the flaming cheese appetizer was both fun and flavorful. Our entrees were very good as well as we had eggplant, gyros and beef schwarma. This will make the 3rd and LAST time we eat at Nick's Taverna. The first time, the food was decent (I grew up eating Greek Cuisine). That time the bartender Dujuan, mistakenly made a drink that I ordered with another bartender- no big deal. He apologized and placed it in the freezer at the bar right in front of me...which was odd. The 2nd time we dined, the bartender (can't recall his name) was very pleasant, however the potatoes accompanying one of the entrees were heavily over seasoned. So today, we came in a bit early and were greeted by Dujuan and someone he identified as his manager. This unknown person advised of their 'happy hour' drink specials, one of which was Tito's half off. I asked for a Tito's mule and he told me that would not apply. Apparently any juices OR sodas (seemingly according to Dejuan even LIME juice????). When I questioned it, it made for an awkward dining experience. When we received our check, we saw that the drink was in fact doubled in price- and when asked, he replied "I don't make the rules". It was really such a ridiculous thing- but what made it much more than ridiculous was when he abruptly grabbed our plates, actually hitting my phone. UNACCEPTABLE read more

It was our first time dining here and you could instantly tell that it was gong to be a wonderful experience due to the clientele that were already in the restaurant. They were all mostly Greek diners so you knew you were going to be getting authentic a delicious Greek meal! My friend an I ordered the calamari appetizer to split and it was so fresh and delicious! My friend ordered the mixed sampler and I ordered the shrimp a la Nick's, and both dishes were abundantly filled to the rim just like a traditional Greek meal would be!! Oh, ever so amazing!! YUM!!! The restaurant is beautifully laid out and spacious with gorgeous Greek murals on the walls and a beautiful bar area which adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. So amazing! If you don't have a BIG appetite, you may want to reconsider coming here! Really, just kidding! ;) We will definitely return! Called an order in and told them no red sauce on the 2 orders of lamb shanks. They said no problem. They was red sauce on the lamb shanks plus the mediterrean chicken I ordered was over cooked. I drove from 45 minutes away to try this restaurant as I heard such great things about it. I love Greek food, and was hoping that it would be worth the drive. I was SO pleasantly surprised that every single dish that I received was better than the last. I had the avgolemono soup, the spicy feta dip & the mixed sampler. every dish had so much flavour and the portions were extremely filling. I truly did not know that Greek cuisine could taste so marvellous. The service was great, I sat at the bar with the bartender. I think his name was Michael. he gave me great recommendations and we had a lovely conversation. This Greek place is fun for large groups but the food is mediocre. The atmosphere is nice and there's a stage for performances so I can be see the experience being eventful. There's a kids menu with pasta, pizza, burgers, fries, and chicken tenders so there's something for everyone. The menu itself is also extensive. The hummus was probably my favorite item here and it came with crispy pita chips which I enjoyed. We also ordered the trio dip with spicy feta, tzatziki, and babba gannouj and it was decent. Everything comes with pita chips which is a plus. Next we had flaming cheese which was a cool experience in watching our waiter light the cheese on fire and squeeze a lemon over the flaming pan. After it sat around for a bit, it was difficult to cut. For the main course, i ordered the veggie and pita wrap. It was okay but it didn't particularly excite me. It's not super expensive-only $7.50 so I didn't feel at complete loss but I was hoping for more tzatziki and veggies in it. There wasn't any feta in it but luckily I could add some from our trio dip. The falafel was dry and very crispy. I didn't think the wrap was filled with as many ingredients as I'm used to having in a falafel wrap but again I wasn't completely disappointed. read more

It was amazing. Like something you would expect from a fine dining restaurant, but in a more casual setting and at a great price.
