That's right, we have another favourite KFC spot to add to the rotation, and this is it! Their fried chicken was a perfect blend of thin and crispy batter with juicy and tender meat, and their sweet and spicy sauce added a bit of magic of its own, too. First off, the first impression upon walking in the front door set the expectations. The booths, lighting that wasn't blinding but also didn't make us feel like we were in a cave, and friendly and attentive service all had a part in it, but the music they had playing was tasteful and, for once, I didn't mind not having ten flat screen TV blasting K pop. Their radish cubes were bigger than usual but they stand out more because they were more tangy than sweet whereas they tend to be equally sweet and tangy. For the chicken, we went for a whole fried chicken with half original (plain) and half tossed in the sweet and spicy sauce. Since only half of the chicken was tossed in the sauce, I didn't expect to be charged for two servings of the sauce when I asked for a bit of the sauce to be serviced in the side as well, but they did and this really was the only blip during this otherwise perfect stop. Came here one evening as walk-ins, and from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such kindness and care. The staff were incredibly attentive, taking the time to explain each dish and offering great recommendations. The chicken was perfectly cooked and super tender, and the rosé shrimp pasta was absolutely delicious. The mango pineapple cocktail was amazing, and we finished with the vanilla bean ice cream, which was incredibly refreshing. This place deserves to be more recognized. Such a great place to sit down and eat with group, or have a date night. Some of the best chicken around that they somehow don't make them dry and stringy. Honestly don't need much else besides the basic roasted chicken on top of the sticky rice. But of course can be loaded up with cheese if desired. The service is also so quick. The boxes are very well packed with holes so your food arrives crispy. If you don't eat it all and don't want soggy food later, you can easily make the honey butter chips crispy again in 5 min at 450 degrees in your oven. The chicken takes a minute or two longer. Try not to reuse their parchment paper though, it was already baked once. The fries can reheat in the oven similar to the chips but they will not return to the original texture like the chips can. I would suggest you come with enough people to finish the chicken in one sitting though - I took the breast part home and it did get quite dry. Pop music plays at a volume that adds to the privacy. There are plenty of Korean spots doing fried chicken in the area, but this place stands out for its Nu-Roong-Ji Chicken. The juicy, fall-off-the-bone chicken comes spatchcocked and rests on a bed of crispy sticky rice in a heavy cast iron skillet. I really enjoy the sweet and spicy flavors. Scissors are provided but hardly necessary, as chopsticks work just fine. It's served with a delicious green sauce, similar to the one at Pio Pio but maybe a bit more citrus-forward. The bar menu is interesting, with tasty beers to complement the food. On my first visit, I tried a brew from Jeju Island, and on my second, they had a discount on the Einstok White Ale. We also ordered the freshly made potato chips for something crispy to go with the chicken. The first time, we got a shrimp-flavored dip, which we really enjoyed--just wish they'd give a bit more of it! The second time, we tried the honey butter-tossed chips, which weren't as good; they were overly sweet, not buttery, and got so sticky as they cooled that they were hard to lift from the plate. The place has a fun atmosphere. Our waitress, dressed as Pikachu shortly after Halloween, was super friendly. There is pop music playing in the background. The service is friendly and quick. The complimentary cabbage salad came with a creamy French Dressing. The cabbage is fresh with a good amount of dressing. The complimentary pickled radish helps cut the spice from the chicken a bit. Not too strong of the pickle flavor in the radish itself, but it comes in the pickling juice. The Cucumber Passion is definitely for cucumber lovers! Refreshing drink. The Chips with Shrimp Dip had perfectly thin and crisp chips with a shrimpy garlicky dip. It holds its shape pretty well considering how thin it is. I do wish there was a tad bit more dip but the chips also went well with the green sauce from the chicken. The Sweet and Spicy Nu-Roong-Ji Chicken was fall off the bone tender. They give you a bucket for the bones along with scissors and tongs. You don't need the scissors to cut the meat, just the skin. The green sauce on the side is very jalapeno forward. While the chicken was soft and tender, I didn't feel like it was very unique or flavorful. I liked using the green dipping sauce that came with the entree but it felt like an overpriced version of Chicken lover's rotisserie chicken. Underneath the chicken was a layer of crispy rice that most people like, but I personally am not a fan of. I still enjoyed the meal and the ambiance of the restaurant, but it wasn't a life changing experience. The service was also very good as it is a small restaurant. We tried the Parm Reg Truffle Fries (3/5- basic fries taste more cheese than truffle. Most places say truffle flavor but can't really taste it). Mozz Sticks (4/5- I had 2 bites while my boyfriend ate the rest and he said they were really good). Whelk Noodle Salad (4/5- this is traditionally made with Korean somen noodles but they used ramen noodles so the texture was great, didn't skimp out on the whelk, but damn was it spicy. Stopped by opening day! It looks like for the first few weeks they are doing 50% off the entire bill! They opened at 6 today and by the time we arrived (around 615pm) they were basically full. There are only 7 tables (6 tables that fit 4, and 1 table that fits up to 6) so this place is pretty small. Be prepared to get here early! Ordered the nurungi roasted chicken (my fave), budae jjigae, and the roe bacon pasta. -Nurungji chicken 5/5 my favorite of the night Nurungji refers to the brown caramelized rice and the nurungi here was deliciousssss. There were some bits that were a little thin and crispy and other bits that were thicker so it felt more creamy/risotto-y. The chicken itself is small so if you went in hungry it probably wouldnt fully satisfy 2 grown adults if its the only thing ordered. Otherwise perfectly golden brown crispy skin and chicken itself was juicy (breast was maybe a touch dry) but with the sauces it was amazing (green is like a jalapeno salsa, and red is a traditional korean chicken sauce- sticky sweet & spicy). - Army Stew - honestly was not my favorite A spicy stew that has spam, sausage, a little kimchi & ramen. I was hoping for a more soup-y dish but it was definitely more ramen-y. Honestly felt more like ramen with some hotdog/spam cut into it rather than a jjigae.
