The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. Ordered the Gamjatang & Grilled Mackerel Set - $52.95 (for 2) The gamjatang is perfectly spiced - bold and warming without overwhelming heat (and trust me, my spice tolerance is low!). Instead of the usual red kimchi, they load it with long strips of green napa cabbage, cut right before your eyes before serving. Some bean sprouts, watercress on top, with tender potatoes, chewy rice cakes, and massive pork bones that fall right off - so meaty and flavorful. Served with a side of sweet mustard sauce. Pure comfort on a cold day. The grilled mackerel was enormous and incredibly plump - way bigger than expected! As an oily fish, it's rich and satisfying, but we barely made it through a third. If you're a mackerel fan like me, it's a must-order. . Banchan were simple and homey: nothing flashy, just solid classics. Bonus: it comes with fluffy steamed egg (jjim) that rounds out the meal perfectly. I can eat an entire bowl of rice with just the steamed egg . They start off with some banchan that includes kimchi and pickled radish. They also give you a large bowl of scallion in the beginning to let you put scallion on your dishes - I love scallion! My fave dish the raw beef dish (somewhere on the first page). I've gotten it both times now. It comes with raw egg yolk that you mix in with gochugang on the side. If you have leftover and take home like I did the first time, you have to cook it before eating. The bossam is also really good and very plentiful. (Get it with mixed cuts!) The seafood pancake is also pretty good - it's not super crispy which I prefer, but it's crispy enough and also very filling and satisfying (the inside dough is soft and warm and the seafood is very flavorful).
