Pasadena has no shortage of Middle Eastern spots. But most of them are just not good enough for me to want to return. I am glad Abu Kebab exists and will definitely become part of our rotation. My kids, husband and I split 2 of the combo plates (the duo lule kebab and the chicken thigh and filet) and we had leftover rice and meat. This almost never happens! All of the sides (hummus, tabouli and cucumber yogurt) were really good too. The prices are typical of the times. Try to pay cash if you can.

I truly love this little mom and pop spot in North Pas. The service is always quick and friendly. The food is piping hot, fresh and plentiful. My favorite go to plate is the beef lule kebab. The chicken lule kebab is just as good too. The seasoning is on point and the meat is fresh and juicy. The plate is $22 and it comes with 4 pieces of lule piled on top of some basmati rice and 2 sides of your choice. I usually get the house made hummus and a side salad. It's a good amount of food. I will keep on coming back to try some other meats on the menu including their lamb, beef filet mignon and maybe the daily special branzino fish.

If you happen upon this place, don't miss the opportunity to find your new favorite kebab place. This place is phenomenal! We tried the chicken and beef luleh and the chicken shawarma. Everything was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Ordering was easy and friendly and the food came out fresh, fast and hot. Don't let the unassuming place fool you... the food is unmatched! Portions are generous and I'm telling you... you will love it.

I ordered the Cheese Boreg, and the Lamb Chops Plate The Cheese Boreg were AMAZING, crunchy warm and tasted great. They are a good shareable size, I would recommend to order these The Lamb Chops Plate was good, the lamb chops were flavorful, I wish there was more of a sear to render the fat since some parts were chewy. The pita bread is pretty basic, lastly I wish they substituted the mountain of rice by like half the amount and in exchange added and extra lamb chop for the price. But the rice and lamb chops both tasted great, and I would overall recommend to order it. I would also recommend getting the house salad as your side, it was full of flavor and very refreshing. I would definitely recommend to eat here, the ambiance is quiet and clean, and staff was very friendly.

Local spot I've been meaning to try. Much more spacious and upscale inside than you would expect from the street view. It's on the shoddier side of Lake St so not huge parking but enough on the street and a back lot. Ordered pick up. Highlights are the babaganoush (mutabal) and the rice! The meat was spiced and flavored very well but definitely dryer than you would want We got the Beef and Chicken lulu to try. A much more value joint (two skewers vs one) for grilled Mediterranean skewers compared to other places nearby. Would go again since it's so close and has some really great rice and mutabal. Maybe the meat was off this time. Pickup time was quick on a lunch weekend!

Honestly, one of THE best AND MOST DELICIOUS, Armenian , Lebanese, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern cuisine I've ever had. Their dishes are very authentic. This is a great Mediterranean restaurant that pleasantly surprised me. You order at the counter and they have a vast menu with something for everyone. The food comes out fresh and presently beautifully. All of the ingredients are delicious and super satisfying. The portions are pretty big and very filling. Staff are nice and the interior is clean.

Randomly came across this place while searching for Mediterranean food on Yelp. When you first walk in, it feels a bit quiet and unassuming not somewhere you'd expect to be blown away, but I'm so glad we gave it a chance. Heads up: this place seems to go by different names, as Abu Kebab doesn't show up easily on maps. The woman at the front with glasses was absolutely amazing and truly elevated the experience. She was incredibly helpful, kind, and welcoming, and she really made a lasting impression on us. The food was wonderful, so flavorful and satisfying. Definitely a hidden gem worth trying.

I'm so happy Abu opened up in this area of Pasadena. There aren't many good restaurants here but Abu is definitely the exception. The beef lule was bursting with spices and flavor, while the filet mignon is tender with a good sear. The tangy and fresh tabouleh paired perfectly with the meat. The goreg was crispy on the outside while the filling was juicy with a hint of cinnamon. There is plenty of seating for casual gatherings as well. Food does take about 15 minutes to come out but it's well worth the wait!

We got take out from Abu Kebab and they did not disappoint. First of all, their portions are great! We ate until we couldn't anymore but we still had leftovers. Really really generous portions. I loved the rice, hummus, and the baba ganoush was the best I have ever had. Seriously sooo creamy! The kebabs were a good flavor too and not too salty. My only problem with them was that they were a little dry. Maybe they were reheated..? It still tasted good but wasn't as juicy as some of the other kebabs I've had in the past.

I ordered from Abu Kebab for my office party, and everyone was thrilled with the food. I went with several orders of original family special, salmon plates, falafel, chicken thigh tray. They were all outstanding especially the filet mignon and the chicken lule. Their jalapeños are so good and super super spicy!! The food arrived on time, per my request. I live in the neighborhood and this was my first time to eat. I had a lule kabob plate and i love that you can choose your side. I got eggplant and cucumber salad. The salad was fresh and nice dressing. The eggplant salad had too much tahini for me. The kabob was hot and flavorful and large skewers. Rice was excellent as well. I will be back. read more

I can't say enough awesome things about this place! I used to go a little further away to Sahara for Middle Eastern food BUT(!) now I don't have to bc this is now my go to restaurant! The falafels here are some of THE BEST i've ever tried. Very light and crispy and delicious! The chicken breast was super juicy and tasty , and you get a very generous portion too. Also, excellent rice and tabouleh! Most importantly, the customer service is excellent and the place is clean and inviting. I have already had them twice in the last 24 hours. The kabobs are super flavorful and come in great portion sizes. The owners are the sweetest and really took care of my gluten allergy (Celiac Disease). You can tell that they take a lot of pride in their ingredients. Great food! Four of us shared family style so we could taste everything. We ordered four plates and had chicken Lula, chicken kebab, lamb kebab, beef Shwarma and falafel's. Our sides were hummus, babaganoush and tabouli. The meats were well cooked and seasoned. The seasonings were distinctive for the different meats. The falafel was crisp on the outside, moist on the inside and not oily. Hummus was creamy,babaganoush had nice roasted eggplant flavor and tabouli was very fresh. Ambience was pleasant as was the service. So glad we found this place. We will definitely be back. read more

We happened to drive by this hidden Mediterranean restaurant on lake and decided to give it a try. Oh wow is all I can say everything was perfect we ordered the Greek salad and the house bowl which came with chicken thigh kebab it was excellent!! The Greek salad also came with imported feta and Kalamata olives which were very flavorful. The owners were so nice they even gave us baklava dessert on the house. This is the worst gyro I've ever had. I've eaten many gyros (including in Greece) and these people don't know what they're doing. There wasn't any fresh lettuce or tzatziki sauce, the pita was grilled so it was really tough. And it tasted horrible. I also ordered the lamb kebab and it was fine, but I was so turned off by the gyro I will never order from this restaurant again. read more

This is now our go-to Mediterranean restaurant. It is Lebanese Armenian, with some Greek influence. The food is delicious and attractively served. The restaurant's ambiance is rather plain, at first glance; then you notice the care that is taken. My friend and I went from table to table, peering at the table-top maps of Pasadena. The owner answered all of our questions, and treated us more like neighbors. Do go visit it. You won't be disappointed. My friend had beautifully prepared falafel. I only Yelp! when something is truly great, or truly awful. I'm here to tell you Abu Kabab is truly GREAT! Virtually, EVERYTHING here is fantastic. My favorite is the dark meat chicken kabab wrap. The chicken is plentiful, perfectly spiced and charred just enogh. The pita is huge, soft and delicious, and the garlic sauce is sublime. They put pickles, onions and tomato in the wrap, and a really nice touch; they wrap the bottom in paper and tie a string around it. It's so big my wife and I often split one, but so delicious I often insist on my own. ;o) The hummus is nutty, and creamy, better than my mother in law makes, and that's saying a lot! Their eggplant dip will make you cry it's so good. The lentil soup is to die for, perfectly spiced and loaded with lentils, onion bits, carrots, etc. I get extra pita to dip in it. Abu Kabab is the best Mediterranean/middle eastern food you will find in the San Gabriel Valley, no joke. The atmosphere is clean and inviting with Greek music often playing. Sawan and Serge, the owners are warm and friendly. I was in the hospital recently and Abu Kabab is the first place I wanted to go when I was released. We simply love everything about this place, and you will too. Centrally located at Lake and Orange Grove in Pasadena, go try it, you'll be thanking me. We support local, mom and pop businesses, especially when the food, service and atmosphere are this good. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. read more

It was 12:09 and the restaurant was empty when I ordered a chicken sandwich with no tomato and no onion. My order was made incorrectly, and to make matters worse, two customers who came in after me and ordered full and half chickens received their food well before I did. There is also street parking that is usually available along the side street. Upon entering the patio area of this building you will notice outside seating with umbrellas. The Mediterranean Grill is located in suite 101. When you enter you walk through the inside seating to the counter to place your order. I had a number of questions concerning their menu and the gentleman at the register was very helpful in giving me suggestions of different dishes I might enjoy. I ordered a number of items so that I could get an understanding of their menu. I decided to order three items. A salad and two dinners. As I sat down to wait for my order, a staff member brought over a small salad and a small bottle of water for me to enjoy while I was waiting. I found out that the salad was a shirazi salad. It was bright and refreshing. The lemon and olive oil dressing was perfect along with the chopped onions, marinated cucumber, tomatoes, and parsley. Enjoyable! I picked up my carefully packaged order and was on my way home. I was eager to try some new flavors. The aroma of the food was still present as I opened each of the three items. The Greek salad with chicken had a great flavor. There were large chunks of lightly fried chicken pieces, with fresh cucumbers, feta cheese, olives, lettuce, onions, with their special olive and lemon dressing. This salad is a full meal, very satisfying. The chicken platter with white meat included rice, a marinated cucumber salad, a tomato, and jalapeno. I had a choice of with seeds or without and I decided to spice it up and ordered with the seeds. There is definitely a lot of food . then one dinner. I found out that it tasted good the next day. Their special sauce is amazing. The beef skewer was very tender and filled with flavor. The meat had been marinated and tasted great both warm and cold the following day, as did the other items. I was so intrigued by the menu that I went again for the gyro roll and the falafel platter. Both were well worth the return visit. Highly recommend the flavorful food at Mediterranean Grill! On a whim a friend and I tried this place, and were blown away by the flavor and the freshness. The chicken lule I got was so juicy and incredibly seasoned, the rice was fluffy and tasty, everything was done immaculately. There's also board games in the corner haha, and the ambience is cozy!
