For a small mediterranean eatery, this place is absolute gold. It's the same as U-pick Cafe here kn yelp, i believe, but the outside has the logo with the monkey Abu and the man who answered the phone greeted with "Abu Kebab." It isnt hard to find if youre walking on Lake, but be prepared to see a ton of homeless folk. We were able to get to the resto and even sit in the outdoor area (facing the street). We had the combo chicken+beef plate with yellow rice, hummus, fries (for my little), and pita. YUM! the meats were perfectly done, rice might need some seasoning but good for sodium-conscious folks. Its a loooot of food. That said, it isnt cheap: the combo plate costs $18+ and we also had a piece of baklava. with tax and tip, we ended up paying $23. With plenty of food to spare, it was definitely filling for me and my toddler. The nice man at the counter gave the recommendations for a combo, brought it to us outside, and a lady (she didnt look like an employee, could be an owner) helped us bring a high chair out. They accept card, apple pay, tap, etc. And (as of writing this) if you follow them on IG they give you a free soda from the soda fountain. They have parking in the rear, in the square, and also a bit of parking curbside, (i didnt check if it is restricted to certain times) but i saw a car park in front betw 1-2pm. Totally worth the 20wait, the sketchy walk, and Lake street pollution. 10/10 will come again. read more

I'm still thinking about this meal. I got the chicken sultani plate that comes with a chicken kebab and lule along with two sides. I opted for the grilled veg and mutabbal (eggplant). The ordering process was seamless and the service was quick. I've been here before the ownership change, but I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality and taste of the food. It was tasty before, but it is 10x better now. The chicken was so moist, the rice fluffy, mutabbal was out of this world. I've visited a few times and have had a great experience each time! Portions are all extremely generous. All of the sides are delicious. They have great homemade falafels. One of the times I visited I was with relatives who have celiac disease and have never tried many of these dishes - the owner did a great job explaining everything so they were able to try something new. My husband and I came in after a long day, needing something tasty and fresh. We walked in and the restaurant was very clean, and someone was able to take our order immediately. We ordered a combo chicken thigh and beef lule plate, with a side of tabouleh and hummus. Everything tasted fantastic and they even gave us an extra skewer! The tabouleh was zesty and bright, their garlic sauce was perfect, and the hummus was so creamy. I was such a fan of this location's incarnation when it was called "U Pick" before new owners took it over and it went downhill. I've had Abu Kebab on my list to try since they remodeled and changed the menu. Today was that day and I have to say we were VERY impressed. I love that the menu is handwritten on chalkboard, the young woman who helped us today was the only person working there that I could see, and she did a wonderful job preparing our food. We ordered the chicken and Lulu kebab combo plate with grilled veggies and hummus and the house salad. We decided to share so that we got a good amount of veggies. The food was presented beautifully. The salad dressing was on the side - plenty of it and it was absolutely delicious - I love whatever herbs and spices they are putting in the dressing. The rice was delicious - kind of a rice pilaf kind of vibe. The grilled chicken thigh chunks were perfectly marinated and cooked - so flavorful and tender, juicy! The lule kebab was well seasoned - not overly so. Loved the hummus - they kept it simple which is my favorite kind of hummus - without adding spices. All of the flavors were beautiful together and we sprinkled plenty of sumac on top to just add that last touch. We will be coming back here often! read more

Great food, but not so good listening skills(taking a phone order for single chicken kabob plate plus a small container of chili and an extra garlic paste). They also are not so friendly welcoming vibes. Got the wrong side on a $23-$24 kabob order plus no chili. Is it that hard to mess that up? Just check your order before walking out. My sister lives around the neighborhood and I convinced her to try this spot after the good reviews and closer proximity instead of her usual kebab place in Glendale. My goodness was it amazing! We got the chicken shawarma, gyro, hummus, mutabal baba, and baklava. It was all delicious! We'll definitely be going back. The gyro was really tender, I feel like I could have eaten two!! The seasoning and sauce on the Chicken kebabs was so strong and spicy it didnt even taste like kabobs. I couldn't even enjoy it and so expensive for the amount of food given and no drink included. The pita bread is not even warmed up, they just give it to you how it comes in the bag they buy..very bland bread. I don't recommend this place. read more

Absolutely delicious! When I'm looking for chicken shawarma, this is what I'm looking for! I had the chicken shawarma wrap and it was so good: great seasoning, pickles, sauce, and the right texture. We had the gyro wrap too which was also amazing, and a perfect Greek salad. The hummus and tabouli were also perfection. Everything tastes fresh and made with care. I want to give a shout out for Abu Kebab, a great middle-eastern/Mediterranean restaurant on Lake just north of Orange Grove (right next to Desvaldos). Someone brought their chicken kebabs to a pot luck recently and I've been there twice since. Just plain delicious. The Mediterranean Grill is located in suite 101. When you enter you walk through the inside seating to the counter to place your order. I had a number of questions concerning their menu and the gentleman at the register was very helpful in giving me suggestions of different dishes I might enjoy. I ordered a number of items so that I could get an understanding of their menu. I decided to order three items. A salad and two dinners. As I sat down to wait for my order, a staff member brought over a small salad and a small bottle of water for me to enjoy while I was waiting. I found out that the salad was a shirazi salad. It was bright and refreshing. The lemon and olive oil dressing was perfect along with the chopped onions, marinated cucumber, tomatoes, and parsley. Enjoyable! I picked up my carefully packaged order and was on my way home. I was eager to try some new flavors. The aroma of the food was still present as I opened each of the three items. The Greek salad with chicken had a great flavor. There were large chunks of lightly fried chicken pieces, with fresh cucumbers, feta cheese, olives, lettuce, onions, with their special olive and lemon dressing. This salad is a full meal, very satisfying. The chicken platter with white meat included rice, a marinated cucumber salad, a tomato, and jalapeno. I had a choice of with seeds or without and I decided to spice it up and ordered with the seeds. There is definitely a lot of food . then one dinner. I found out that it tasted good the next day. Their special sauce is amazing. The beef skewer was very tender and filled with flavor. The meat had been marinated and tasted great both warm and cold the following day, as did the other items. I was so intrigued by the menu that I went again for the gyro roll and the falafel platter. Both were well worth the return visit. Highly recommend the flavorful food at Mediterranean Grill! Their service, recipes, and food are well worth the visit. I look forward to returning to experience more items on the menu.

I got my order to go, not much of the interaction for the service to have any opinion about it. I came here by chance, tried it, it did not made me feel wow on either its' price and its' food. It has a Middle Eastern seasoning on it which you can opt to leave off. I love them with a dipping sauce of spicy tahini, which they will provide if you ask. You can of course get it non-spicy as well.
