Amazing food! Came here on a weekday for lunch and got the beef kabob plate, which came with a Greek style salad, hummus, two beef skewers, and rice! The beef kebab is super tender and extremely well marinated but not too salty! The hummus - sooo smooth and melts in your mouth! Love love love the hummus! I'm usually not a salad person but I do love this salad - perfect seasoning and mix of veggies! The owner is super friendly as well! Lots of parking at the back! There are a few indoor and outdoor seatings!

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4.5/5 This is one of my favorite restaurants. When I'm nearby, I always have to grab their food to go. The value and taste are unbeatable. No other kabob place can match their price and flavor ratio. I usually get the beef kabob plate. You can mix and match with one beef and one lamb, but I always stick with beef. It comes with delicious hummus and salad, plus pita bread. Their garlic sauce made me fall in love with it. I even buy a similar one from the grocery store to keep in my fridge. It's not the same as the restaurant version, but it does the job. Highly recommended.

Koko Mediterranean Cafe is my family go-to- Mediterranean restaurant for flavorful food. The restaurant is located in Shoppers Ln. where ample parking spots can be easily found. The restaurant is always clean and organized. I have been a customer for many years. The owners are very welcoming and genuinely warm. The service is outstanding. It is always fast, even if there is a long line of customers waiting to replace or pick up their orders. Their menu includes delicious varieties of grilled Kebab, Shawarma,Kebab salad with your choice of grilled protein, and wraps, in addition to their vegetarian plates. My family and I love their beef Kebab, kefta Kebab, lamb Kebab and chicken Kebab. I always order combo plate. It comes with rice, salad, hummus, garlic sauce, and pita bread. In addition to my favorite delicious vegetarian plates. For this visit, I got falafel plate. It comes with tahini, hummus, salad, pickles, and pita bread. Their Kebab is authentic, flavorful, juicy and overall delicious. The rice is fluffy and always fresh. The Falafel is crispy from outside and soft enriched with perfect spice from inside. Hummus is very creamy and rich. Their babaganoush is the best! The vegetarian dolma is light, but tzatziki sauce compliment the taste. Koko Mediterranean Cafe remains my favorite Mediterranean restaurant. I totally recommend trying their food. You will definitely enjoy their dishes.

Fast and friendly service in and out in about 3 minutes. Fairly affordable 13$ for a chicken shawarma wrap. However, the chicken was overly salty. Maybe it's just the day, will come back to try again.

I was wowed with the number of customers dining inside the small restaurant and really knew this was a hot spot for those who relish Mediterranean foods. There was a five-person line ahead of me, but went by fast, as the food is served within less than five minutes, upon ordering. As for the food, it is consistent with some of the other foods I've had with Greek or middle-east heritage, but felt their hummus was not as good as I've had at the former Corfu in Sierra Madre. However, the entrees are relatively good and the experience positive in every way. I had wanted to try this restaurant for about six months since seeing it while walking by, but it seemed to have been closed during some construction. I'm glad I had this opportunity and look forward to another meal during the work week...

So sorry to say it, but I don't get it. I saw a long line and great reviews and had to try this place. I got the chicken kabob plate and it might just be the driest chicken I've ever had. I also got the falafel and it also tastes like nothing, just like fried...nothing. The hummus is ok, again not much flavor. And the combo plate came with one piece of pita which I do find to be a bit stingy. The rice tastes like box rice pilaf. Not bad but not good enough that I want to eat it all. I did also try the chicken shawarma wrap, and while it was ok, it wasn't as good as what I was expecting. I won't be back sorry. I do appreciate that the service was super quick and nice.

Great spot for a filling meal! I got the Lamb Kebab plate and it came with 2 kebabs on top of a bed of rice, hummus, and a salad. The garlic sauce was packed with flavor and that red sauce packed just enough heat. Absolutely loved it! The food and ordering process was quick. This is a good spot for take out or dine in. There's seating outside and inside.

I got their beef kebab plate. It was already premade when we ordered it. The kebab was very dry and had a texture like beef jerky. It came along with your typical salad and sauces. The rice was alright; it wasn't flavorful. Also, the pita bread was cold. However, it's a very chill place with A/C and customer service was very welcoming.

Not sure why I haven't tried this place until recent. I drove by looking for a place to eat after having tried almost every restaurant in this plaza and a blue awning with "Mediterranean Cafe" caught my eye. Came with my friend and we couldn't decide between the lamb or the beef plate but the guy behind the counter said "we can do half half". Music to my ears. As we were paying (literally seconds after ordering), the cashier starts to bag up an order. We thought it was for the customer before us but nope, it was ours. That efficiency paralleled that of a HK cafe in HK. Now onto the food. Rice was fluffy and not overly greasy. The salad dressing added the perfect amount of tart to the lettuce. I preferred the beef over the lamb bc it was a bit more tender but you really can't go wrong either. It came with pita bread and we added a side of falafel with an exterior tougher than we were used to. Overall, one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the area and I'm not the only one who can vouch for that!

Garlic sauce and hot sauce provided. Tomatoes that came with the salad and salad dressing. Other items were not from Mediterranean Cafe

Always a great time with food from Mediterranean Cafe! Our favorite is the beef kabobs. Rice is so good. And can't get enough of the chili sauce and garlic sauce!!!! We had a friends Christmas dinner and decided to save ourselves some time and energy by catering some food. We asked for the food in trays. Everything was perfectly packaged and was ready for pick up at the scheduled time! The food was a hit, tons of left overs, and very happy and full guests. I wish I got a better photo... but this is the best I have. lol

Does this place have a place to sit down and eat? If not, is there a place nearby?

Yes. They have limited in door and outdoor eating space.

Are they open on MLK Monday?

    yes

What oil do they use for salad and kabobs?

    Do not know

Have they closed? Every time I've tried to call for the last few weeks, it goes straight to voicemail.

They're not closed. Charter has had outages in that area multiple times for days, so the phone lines and internet were not working.

Do I have to use doordash or grubhub? I am calling to get takeout but they do not pick up and I don't want to create accounts for services. thanks!

Line moves rather quickly, and they have take out. It's made right in front of you. You just have to go to the restaurant.

Is the food halal (zabihah)? Any of it? Thx!

Just the Lamb Kebab is halal.

Have any gluten free eaters eaten the gyro meat here and been okay?! Thanks! (I've read some gyro meat now is processed with additives that contain gluten.)

All plates come with rice and a pita bread. You can sub the rice for extra salad that way you get a gluten free plate. You can ask them to keep the pita off too. And no gyro at Med café. They only serve chicken shawarma to die for!!!

They're family owned and operated and had a bunch of yummy sounding options. I got their falafel, dolmas, cheese and meat boreg, chicken shawarma wrap, filet mignon and chicken thigh combo plate, and baklava to try. This was my first time ever trying falafels, dolmas, and boregs and wow. The falafel had a Fun crunchy outside with a crumbly yet not dry inside and full of aromatic flavors. The dolmas were really good too. Moist and herby. The boregs kinda reminded me of empanadas in both flavors and textures from the crisp fried outer pastry to savory fillings. The chicken shawarma wrap was stuffed with tender marinated chicken, fries, a bit of tomato and pepper and schmearing of creamy garlicy spread, and came with a side of refreshing cucumber yogurt salad. The best part was when that pita soaked up all the other juices of the chicken to make it even more flavorful. The meats in the combo plate had a nice char, were super savory, flavorful, well seasoned but were a bit overcooked and dry. But that's ok cuz that's where the super flavorful dips came in. There was the refreshing cucumber salad, smooth creamy nutty hummus, and pungent garlicy sauce that paired perfectly with everything. It also came with rice, an herby bright tabouleh salad, pickled turnips and crunchy fresh onions. The baklava was MASSIVE and was a bit dry and hard but had plenty of crisp pastry layers, crunchy nuts, was amazingly sweet and cinnamony. Overall this place is pretty good. Boreg $14 Falafel $8 Dolma $7 Chicken shawarma wrap $17 Combo beef filet and chicken thigh $28 Baklava $4

The mast moosir was a great creamy and savory side dish to complement the entrees. I HAD to get the tahdig (crispy rice) too! The yogurt soda was a bit of an acquired taste for me, but I'm happy to have tried it for the full experience. We came on a lively weekday evening. They don't do reservations, but we were warmly greeted and quickly seated with lavash and butter on our table immediately. My first impression was how friendly everyone is, both employees and customers. I also noticed the aroma of mesquite smoke, which is a principle difference between their food and many others that use gas grills. The wonderful lady at the counter welcomed me and suggested the split kabob plate with half each beef and chicken. She also gave me the lunch and dinner menus to peruse. I grabbed a table and didn't wait long before my order was ready. Lots of rice pilaf, hummus, and tabouli. Additionally, there was a portion of garlic sauce. The portion of meat was equally impressive. I was still afflicted with recent dental work so I had to eat slowly and carefully. Their food is very crushable if not for that. They also quarter the pita bread which allows easier dipping or making mini wraps. Anyhow, I'm sure I'll be back sooner than later to try the Lula (aka koubideh), lamb, and other unique house specials. The essence of wood smoke is especially good, so that's a high mark. 4.5 overall My only criticisms are the rice could have been warmer, and the sauce more garlicky.

Food - some real tasty & some beyond poor and unacceptable…read more Service - meh. Not bad, definitely not great, like some of the neighboring restaurants. Ambiance - okay. For years I've seen and heard how highly rated this place is. We had a Friday evening reservation. The restaurant is nice and all located on the second floor with an open lit up patio, which is really nice. Given it was a particularly warm evening, and the sun was still glaring, we opted to sit indoors. Unfortunately, they sat us at a table right by one of the doors to exit out. It was left open for the most part, given the wait staff used it to go in and out. I'm not complaining about the heat, but having a big suctioned gust of hot air hit me, my hair and my food that should've remained cold constantly was not a good experience. That being said, I did enjoy the ambiance & hustle & bustle of the diners, groups, and families dining alongside of us. The restaurant is nice, as I said, but our table was too small & the seat of our chairs, which were made of cloth, were disgustingly dirty and large black stains! Like a dirty restaurant carpet. The wait staff was meh. Not bad, but not helpful/great. Just alright. We mentioned how it was our first visit, a usual flag and opportunity for wait staff to give you an overview, fan favorites, and personal notes - nothing. Comment just fell flat. We had a couple of $19/glass cabs. Just alright and highly priced. But the waiter could not understand what I was ordering and had to have me eventually point it out on the paper menu. Not a big deal, but my point about this is that the wait staff is not exceptional like at other neighboring restaurants where the waiters are engaging, familiar with every aspect of their menu without looking at it and conduct themselves with a pride behind their service. This was "just get the job done" at minimum vibe. Let's move on to the food...which by the way wasn't timed carefully so this is where that small table became an issue...There were some promising highs, as we started with the incredible tasting hummus & puffy warm pita, fresh out of the oven. We opted to add the veggies to the dish for an extra $4 and they too were crispy, cold and fresh. We had fried calamari, unfortunately, that was rubbery - pass! Esp at the price. Since it was my first time here, I wanted to try the Greek salad. For me, it was wonderful. Rough chopped delicious vegetables and a slab of feta, with a delicious oily vinaigrette. My husband was disappointed, expecting an actual Greek salad with greens. To his point, this is something they should note on the menu, given we wanted to share it. For entrees, my husband got the beef kabob plate. He thought the rice was okay, but it was another pass for me. Fast food by my house makes one twice as good. Didn't expect that from this highly rated, highly priced place. His beef was alright. My chicken thigh was disgusting, I'm not being extra, I couldn't eat it. It tasted like microwaved grilled chicken tenders (held a tenders' shape even) previously frozen and had zero flavor. I was beyond disappointed! They added heavy char lines, which I normally would love as an added touch to flavorful chicken I'm accustomed to with this type of fare but since there was zero flavor from the chicken, the only flavor I got was burnt/char and that's not fun. The chicken meat consistency itself felt fake compressed chicken. Their bread pudding dessert was tasty and the coffees were alright. Our bill, with tip, was $270.00. Normally, for so many dishes drinks and courses, we wouldn't even flinch. But given half our starters went to the trash and my full entree went to the trash, the value for this place plummets, along with the lackluster service and seating issues. Oh, and one more thing. My husband and I were up the second half of the night with stomach aches! Will never return here, ever.

It is easy to find located across the street from Pasadena City college. The large awning outside the building announces the entrance to the restaurant. Once you enter you find an area with dining tables and a counter area. I was given a menu, and directed to a table to contemplate my order. The menu has a lot of great items. There were quite a number of unusual items and I had no idea what type of food or flavor to expect. When the waitress returned, I was able to ask her questions about what I should order. She had great suggestions that would give me a best example of their unique food and flavors. I decided on one Chicken Kabob and one Chicken Koobideh. Each of them came with a choice of soup or salad. I chose one of each. Barley soup with the chicken and Greek salad for the beef. It took about 20 minutes or so to get my meal to go. They had a number of occupied tables. When I got home I carefully unpacked what I had ordered. I was eager to try everything at once, but decided to start with the soup. Barley soup was filled with barley and had great flavor. I decided to add a little bit of kick by dropping in some hot sauce. The side salad was impressive. Fresh greens, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, and cucumbers. A little squeeze of lemon with all it needed. No extra dressing needed. Both the chicken and beef skewers had a great grilled aroma and were delicious. They held their shape even without actual skewers. They both tasted just as good cold the next day as they did warm when I first got them home. There was an abundance of rice included since this was a dinner order. It also had great flavor. It was fresh and had great seasoning. A bunch of condiments were included in a separate bag for all the items. I look forward to coming back and trying a number of the other items on their unique menu.

Sad but I truely feel discriminated against. Shame on the server that did not speak even one word to me. To the establishment owners, it only takes one person and one bad experience to lose a long time customer. Unfortunately I had one today and it left a very bad taste in my mouth that your food can't overcome.
