We used to come here all the time when we lived in Franklin. We were in town for a show next-door at the Franklin Theatre. We decided to come here for dinner. We went light and ordered the guacamole with chips and a cup of their gumbo. Past favorites were the jambalaya, hot chicken sandwich and their Po Boy. We ate in the bar area and the service was great. It's good food with a bar feel.

Great food, staff and atmosphere. Had the friend chicken which was perfectly cooked and slightly spicy. My sister had the shrimp salad and had so much shrimp. We also enjoyed the house made sangrias.

What a great spot in Downtown Franklin. The shrimp in a bag is a bit messy to eat but it is totally worth it....delicious. I also enjoyed the gumbo. Our bartender was awesome and took great care of us. I highly recommend. Enjoy!!!

My mom and I stopped in on a Saturday night for dinner. We had to wait 45 minutes, but since they don't take reservations, I expected this and didn't mind. Our server was so kind and attentive, and our food was incredible! The standout dishes would be the Fried Shrimp PoBoy, Jambalaya, Cheese grits and the coleslaw! I wouldn't order the coconut pie again - it wasn't bad, but I wanted more of a cream pie. It moreso resembles a coconut bar. I'd love to go again and try more items! This is a family friendly establishment and has a very diverse menu in the heart of downtown Franklin. Highly recommend!

The food and service here was so good. I'm shocked that this place only has 4 stars as of 10/16/25. The epic cleanliness of the bathrooms! We had Cajun mules, brisket queso and fried pickles. Great spot, we will be back! Also, the bartender was hilarious.

Just FANTASTIC! Hubby and I spent an afternoon downtown Franklin visiting our favorite places before we made a big move to Texas. We decided to try a new restaurant and man we're we sooooo sorry we didn't try this place sooner!!! 55 South was EXCELLENT. From the vibe to the service (probably in the top 5 restaurants we've been to, and we travel extensively). Shay and Bill were 100% spectacular and we can't wait to go back. Food and service was so good we're planning another trip before we move next week. WOW!!! Thank you for such a great experience!!!

Yummmm this was the best turkey sandwich I've ever had in my life. Paired with this beer = perfection! Plenty of seating inside & at the bar, and newly renovated bathrooms! Staff was accommodating and friendly. Ambiance offered southern comfort vibes.

55 South has been a solid spot so far. I've been twice for brunch, but look forward to checking out dinner next. They don't take brunch reservations. We've had luck with getting a table when they open at 10am on the weekends. The restaurant is in the heart of the downtown Franklin area. The historic building is charming. The dining area is broken into a bar and two dining rooms.

Fun and popular place in downtown Franklin. We were there on a girls trip, and the 8 of us were able to sit at the bar to drink and eat. Service was friendly and quick. My friend and I shared the Smoked Turkey sandwich with chips and it was awesome. Chips were hot and crispy. Beers and cocktails were all good.

We didn't intend to eat here but it was a fun surprise! We enjoyed the fried green tomato pimento BLT (when in Rome, right!?) and the guacamole. Our service was quick and little pressure to order quick or leave quick! Added plus it appears it has been on Food Network.

This was my first time visiting while in town on business. We arrived around 5pm on a Thursday and were seated at a table in the front bar area. This front dining area is VERY loud. Like so loud, folks were yelling across the bar to talk to each other. My husband and I had a hard time hearing each other over the roar of the bar. The bartender was serving a full bar of 10+ people, plus serving 4 additional tables including us. Therefore, the service was pretty slow because he was managing so many folks. We ordered the fried green tomatoes w/shrimp remoulade and deviled egg appetizers. The eggs were good, the tomatoes were just okay. For entrees, I ordered the chicken and sausage jambalaya and my husband had the gumbo. Both entrees were flavorful and had a nice Cajun spice. While I would not recommend this spot for a date night, I can see the appeal for a quick drink with friends after work.

They take the leftover steaks from the weekend, grind them fresh into an incredible burger patty, and top it with a house-made sauce that has just a hint of truffle. The result is one of the best burgers I've had in Franklin! Pair it with their crispy fries, and you've got a meal that's hard to beat. Before the burger arrived, I started with an Old Fashioned, and it was fantastic. I got so excited about that burger I almost forgot to mention it! It was well-balanced, perfectly made, and a great way to kick off the evening. We sat downstairs at the bar, and our bartender was outstanding. She had a great personality, was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. One piece of advice, make reservations if you can. Even on a Monday night, the restaurant was packed, which tells you everything you need to know. Whether you're looking for an excellent steak dinner or you're in on the local secret of the Monday burger, Red Pony is definitely worth a visit.

They brought us a complimentary truffle gnocchi since it was our first time there and it was excellent. The apps were great, with the bread and butter(s) and the brisket buns standing out. Mains were well executed, with my personal favorite being my girlfriend's filet. The desserts were also great and the flavors matched the season. One of our guests had a nut allergy and they did a great job accommodating us. The server was eager to talk but never encroached on our experience. I'd love to go back next time I'm in town!

I thought I was safe ordering the garden omelet, but it was not what I expected. The Swiss cheese was served as a large unmelted piece rather than melted or incorporated into the omelet, there was barely any spinach, and the avocado did not taste fresh. The vegetables also seemed to be placed on top rather than mixed into the omelet. I ended up not eating the omelet because it wasn't enjoyable. I brought my concerns to the staff's attention, but no solution was offered--no remake, replacement, or adjustment to the bill. I understand mistakes happen, but I was especially disappointed by how the situation was handled. Good service can often make up for a mistake, but in this case I left feeling unheard, frustrated, and hungry.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by one of the sweetest hosts, who made us feel genuinely welcome. We had made a reservation, and our table was ready immediately, making for a smooth and stress-free start to our meal. I would highly recommend making a reservation at least a day in advance--two days if you're visiting on a weekend or during peak travel times. It was clear this place is popular, and for good reason. Our server, Cody, truly made the experience unforgettable. Hands down, he is the best server I've ever had anywhere. He took the time to thoroughly walk us through the menu, explain the daily specials, answer all of our questions, and offer recommendations based on what we were looking for. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality elevated our entire dining experience. We ordered the pancakes, omelets, and of course, the famous biscuits. The biscuits absolutely deserve the hype! They were warm, buttery, fluffy, and practically melted in your mouth. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and delicious, and the omelets were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. One thing I really appreciated is that while Loveless Cafe offers a supper menu in the evenings, breakfast is served all day. That's perfect for anyone like me who believes breakfast tastes good no matter what time it is! It's easy to see why Loveless Cafe has become such a Nashville staple. Between the warm Southern hospitality, outstanding service, and incredible food, this was an experience we'll be talking about long after breakfast. If you're visiting Nashville, or even if you're a local who hasn't been yet, put Loveless Cafe at the top of your list. And if you're lucky enough to have Cody as your server, you're in for an exceptional experience!

Our group decided to sit in the common area so everyone could grab food from different restaurants. I ordered the Tri-Star platter, which came with pulled pork, brisket, and pulled chicken. All three meats were tender and flavorful. Don't be shy with the BBQ sauce, it really takes everything to the next level. The platter comes with two sides. I chose one vegetable, baked beans, and one fruit, banana pudding. For those not from the South, macaroni and cheese is considered a vegetable, and banana pudding is absolutely a fruit. That's just science around here! The meal also included cornbread and slaw, making for a hearty plate of food. Everything was very good, portions were generous, and the service was excellent. It's a counter service joint; you walk up, order, and then someone runs the food to your table. First off, they asked for a point of service tip; that bugs me when I'm ordering my own food at the counter and fetching my own drinks. The menu is fairly standard for a southern BBA joint; brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken. I am generally suspicious of any place that offers chopped brisket. Brisket is meant to be sliced and enjoyed as a slab of meat, not as a pile of hash. So, the chopped brisket sandwich was out for me. I asked if the brisket platter would be served as slices, and they assured me it was, so I ordered brisket with two sides. They recommended the beans and the Mac 'n cheese, so that's what I went with. They also asked me if I wanted the meat lean, marbled, or half and half; I took that as a good sign, and asked for marbled. They food came out in about 5 mins; just enough time for me to head to the soda fountain and fill my own cup. Maybe they should tip me? On the plus side, the portions were pretty large. I'm guessing that the served at least 6-8 ounces of brisket, and the individual sides were pretty large as well. On the other hand, whoever sliced the brisket simply didn't know what they were doing. They sliced it WITH the grain, producing slices full of stringy meat. Stringy meat that was hard to cut with the plastic cutlery provided. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly serves BBQ brisket doesn't know to cut the meat against the grain. The meat appeared to feature a nice bark; however, on further exploration, a) the bark was so tough that it couldn't be cut as all with the plastic cutlery, and b) when I tore into it with my fingers and ate a piece, it had no taste. Not even a basic Texas salt and pepper rub could be detected. A large portion of tasteless, poorly cut meat does no one any favors. The beans were a little underdone; IMHO, that's far better than mushy, overcooked beans. However, they, too, had no flavor. No spice, nada. The mac and cheese was shells in a white cheese sauce. Strike 3; zero flavor for the sauce. I don't know how you can make cheese sauce without flavor, but they managed to do so. I have never, ever thrown as much food away at a a BBQ joint than I did today. What a shame. Not recommended, not even a little bit. Try Martin's or Edley's; if you prefer a chain, Mission BBQ will do you much better than Hogwood.

I went with the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, 2 sides: Slaw and the Potato Salad. They have white sauce available at the "drink station", otherwise traditional BBQ sauces on the table. Sandwich was great, I always put a bit of slaw on my BBQ and added some white sauce. It was delicious! Slaw is vinegar based and includes a bit of kale, it is fine. But the Rosemary Potato Salad was really good! Just a bit of bacon in there too to complete the flavors. Others enjoyed the Hatch Green Chili Grits which is a nice take on traditional grits. Staff was super friendly and as we sat around the table, they came over to our table after lunch asking if we wanted a mini Moon Pie to complete the meal! Of Course! Restaurant is neat and clean, good BBQ option and the sides make it!
