Fox & Locke is the most classic southern food restaurant I've been to. With its old-timey southern charm, casual vibe, and delicious food it makes for the perfect stop when in Leipers Fork. With a walk up and order system I got the fried bologna sandwich, which when you order they'll ask what you want on it. I was not prepared for that question! Luckily the bologna sandwich is so good I dont think it matter what you put on top. Its a large piece of bolonga, which I prefer compared to the thin sliced ons. The fried okra was not my favorite, next time I would opt for the fried pickles. And of course, you have to wash down your meal with a good ol southern sweet tea.
Food was great. Lots of talents on Open Mic Night. The Bandana Brothers were my favorite. Keep an eye out for Sauter and Koda Jackson! These brothers blew the crowd away with two incredible songs and some seriously impressive guitar work. Sauter even celebrated his 16th birthday on stage, proving he's a star in the making with a voice and stage presence that commands attention. Whether it's country, rock, blues, or folk, this duo has the talent and the "it" factor to go all the way. Follow me on Instagram - @thecannyadventurist for a deeper dive into my reviews.
Good drinks & yummy bbq food! The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. Large indoor space with tables & front patio. Live music. Awesome friendly helpful staff. So much fun.
This place was amazing. Music was by Rachel Summers and the mood swings. They are freaking amazing. We ordered the pulled pork, white meat, fried chicken, and a fried bologna sandwich. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned just like old-fashioned homeschool chicken. The fried bologna sandwich was awesome, the pulled pork just as good. The mashed potatoes are some of the best I've ever had. The macaroni and cheese were good as well. I tried the collard greens, but I'm not a collard greens fan, but they were tasty.
We revisited and I would say that the second experience was not as good as the first. The okra was overfried (or maybe even re-fried), the chicken was dry, and the order only had dark versus white and dark. The service was also not as good this time. We didn't stay for the music this time and it seemed to be starting later than normal (past two times it seemed to start right around noon). If you're passing through, probably still worth the stop but food was definitely not consistent each time.
Wow! What an amazing night. We're in town visiting friends and they got us a table for the Fox & Locke open mic night that takes place on Thursdays. It was almost 3 hours of nonstop performances by up and coming musicians with a few old timers thrown in. There's a full bar and table service. I got the quinoa burger which was actually very tasty. The service was very friendly and our drinks were kept fresh all night. But the real magic is getting so see the next generation of super stars on the rise. 18 acts packed into a 3 hour time slot. Each performer played two songs and it was incredible what a well oiled machine the stage production is. Whoever is running the sound board deserves an award! Each act ranged from a single artist on guitar to piano to a full band with three guitars, a bass, and drums plus 4 mics. Every artist sounded crisp and clear, which is impressive when you only have a 2-3 minute transition time between performers. Highlights of the night were Ollee Owens' cover of Etta James and The Bandana Brothers' standing ovation. I don't know if it's always like this, but it felt pretty magical that artists were just dropping into each others' sets with zero rehearsal and, even when they were obviously messing up, it sounded incredible and you could tell they were having a lot of fun.
Fox & Locke is a quintessential Tennessee spot for BBQ and southern food. We had an enjoyable lunch here. The parking is wherever you can find it. We made it to the area before 10am and it was already pretty busy. There is a small pay lot across from Bubble Joy if nothing is available on the road. We arrived in between breakfast and lunch so it wasn't crazy busy yet. Live music was about to begin so we also caught a quiet time. You stand in line to order at the counter, get a number, and the food was delivered to the table. We waited about 10 minutes for our food. Tables are situated pretty close together. The employees were all very friendly, especially the employee who took and delivered our order. Each day they offer two meats. Saturdays are Brisket & Pulled Pork. The Brisket was good. I wouldn't put it above the brisket at other well known Nashville bbq spots. The pulled pork was fine, but a little plain. I liked their bbq sauce and the meats did need it. The sides and dessert were my favorite part of the meal. The French fries were crispy, the Cauliflower Casserole was decadent, and the Mac and Cheese had good flavor. The Mashed Potatoes were to die for and definitely like something you'd get at a steakhouse. So creamy and buttery. Yum! The Baked Beans were good. The Pecan Pie was really tasty. It was more on the soupy side since the pecans were on top like a crust. The pie crust was good. It was different than I expected, but great flavor. The pecan ice cream with it was delicious. I'd definitely eat here again if I was in the area. I might go with all sides next time!
Stopped in while visiting this darling little town and honestly felt like I'd stepped into a Hallmark movie! The sweet tea was excellent and the pie was absolutely fantastic. Very casual spot ~ the kind of place that feels full of stories and local charm. Even had a celebrity sighting, which made it extra fun! Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Go for the live music and a drink (or the cobbler)! It's an experience not to miss out on when visiting Leiper's Fork. The food is traditional southern and average, but nothing outstanding. The bathrooms were really dirty and the cafeteria style food scooping makes for quick service, but saw lots of flies flying around the kitchen. If you're looking for a classic nashville live music joint it won't disappoint, just check their schedule before going to ensure someone will actually be playing!
We came for a show and they for sure run like a well oiled machine! Our waitress was amazing! The vibes inside our laid back and enjoyable to eat, drink and listen to some great music! The friend pickles were good just a little salty. We enjoy the meal choices, nothing fancy or stand out but tasty. Mac and cheese a little watery and could use some more cheese to help with flavor and thicken the sauce. Pulled pork was good!
The food was really good!! The service was friendly and the ambiance was rustic and charming. I loved that they had live music during the day. Such a great way to celebrate Easter Sunday.
A Beautiful drive out to Leipers Fork would not be complete without a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. Outdoor patio is a bit too hot for the middle of the day in summer but umbrellas provide shade and it's nice in the evening. Food is served pretty quickly even when it's crowded.
My friends ordered the BBQ which they claim to be perfection. It's looked incredible. I had the bologna sandwich which was incredibly delightful. It was the right choice for me. The atmosphere was perfection.

If you're spending the day in Leiper's Fork, Fox & Locke is an absolute must-visit. We stopped in and had an amazing time, especially thanks to the incredible live music. There's something special about sitting back with great food and drinks while listening to talented local musicians in such a historic, laid-back setting. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope to find in a small Tennessee town--welcoming, authentic, and full of character. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the live music truly made the visit memorable. It wasn't just background entertainment--it created an atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we planned. Fox & Locke perfectly captures the charm of Leiper's Fork. Whether you're a local or just exploring the area for the weekend, this is the kind of place that keeps you coming back. Great food, great people, and fantastic live music--what more could you ask for? Highly recommend! read more
(3.5/5 stars) I've been to Fox & Lock many times over the years, enough to try nearly everything on the menu. It's a solid, casual meat-and-three that's become a gathering place for both locals and visitors. The friendly staff and frequent live music create a lively atmosphere, and if you're already coming to Leipers Fork for a show, it's a great place to grab a meal beforehand. The menu offers classic Southern comfort food with rotating daily specials. The pulled pork is one of the more consistent meats, although I've had it arrive perfectly tender on some visits and a bit dry on others. The second meat changes throughout the week, which keeps things interesting for repeat customers. I've worked my way through all of the sides, and the fried okra is easily my favorite. It's consistently served hot and crispy, though I think a signature seasoning blend would make it even better. The macaroni and cheese is another standout, although I've occasionally received it lukewarm. The sweet potato fries are also enjoyable but could use a little more crispness, and I think they'd really shine with a house-made dipping sauce like a hot honey mustard. The green beans appear to be canned, which doesn't personally bother me, but they leave an unusual aftertaste that keeps me from ordering them often. The collard greens have good flavor but tend to include more stems than I'd prefer. The baked beans lean savory rather than sweet, which may appeal to some diners, though I usually prefer sweeter baked beans with barbecue. The mashed potatoes are simple and would benefit from the option of either cream gravy or brown gravy. One item that always kept me coming back was the chicken fingers. For a long time, they were some of my favorites in the area--crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I've driven out from Nashville just to order them. Recently, however, the breading seems to have changed, and they haven't quite been the same. The onion rings are another reliable choice, arriving consistently crispy, though I think they'd be even better paired with a signature dipping sauce or seasoning. Overall, I think the atmosphere is what makes Fox & Lock special. The staff is consistently welcoming, the live music is excellent, and it's an important part of the Leipers Fork community. If you're visiting the area for the music or exploring the town, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a meal. While I don't think the food alone is worth making a special trip from Nashville, it's enjoyable comfort food in a fun setting and a place I'm sure I'll continue to visit. read more
Well - what a night! A 120 seat former village general store which is now a major music venue in the historic village of Leipers Fork, some 30 miles South of Nashville in the agricultural heartland of Tennessee is the place where the best musicians come to play and have fun I was lucky enough to secure the last seats for Nashville's "songwriters songwriter" and elite session guitarist Pat McLaughlin which enabled me to both sample their great BBQ and hear a brilliant 145 minute non-stop set from a super tight 5 piece band Fast and efficient service Great pulled pork A night to remember Definitely NOT disappointed! read more

We had heard that a girls trip to Franklin wouldn't be complete without a jaunt over to Leiper's Fork. SO glad we took the advice! After visiting several of the cute shops we needed food and as we passed F&L, music was pouring out of the place and it drew us in...plus, it was on our list. It was past lunch time and too early for dinner. Went to the counter, options are a meat and 2 or 3, can't remember, and alcohol is purchased at the adjoining bar area. We ordered apps (onion rings - crispy and hot; fried pickles - ditto; and fried ckn strips with fries - ditto again). Listened to the live music, enjoyed watching couples enjoying the band, and two of the cutest little girls going up in front to dance by the band. This place was on our list of 'gotta go' and we are so glad we did! read more

We were at a local distillery and it was suggested that we might want to have lunch @ Fox & Locke - so glad we followed up on it! We both had fried chicken - mine light, Wayne's dark - and it beat out all other amazing southern fried chicken! The outside crisp and flavorful & the meat was sooo tender! We had green beans as one side & really yummy Mac and cheese as another. Dana was our server and she was great. The space is cozy, and I'm kinda sorry we weren't there for music - next time! read more

This venue is tucked away and off the beaten path, but once you've been you know what a gem it is! In Leipers Fork off Old Hillsboro Highway, it hosts some great musicians, from bluegrass to blues to Americana. Tickets are cheap. Parking is easy, big lot plus plenty of street space. $15 food/drink minimum per person, so plan to eat before the show. There isn't a bad seat in the joint and staff is so friendly. I know I'll be back for menu more shows. Highly recommend! read more

Delicious food and good music! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy. Live band was playing. There are indoor and outdoor seating. Casual place - order inside and find a table. The pulled pork was good but the beef brisket was my favorite. Highly recommend. Parking is challenging. We found a sand/rock lot (free) towards the entrance of the street. read more
Fun bar and bbq restaurant with live music, as found along Broadway, downtown Nashville. Loud fun and good food is what F&L is all about. It's a great stop following an afternoon of browsing the cute shops of lovely Franklin, Tennessee. read more
