The sauce was too watery, would've liked it a bit more glossy and creamy. The flavor was good but consistency and cohesiveness could be a little better. The vibe is super cool inside! Great front of house staff who made us feel super welcome. 10/10 on that front. While the menu is pretty good, they didn't have as many vegetarian or seafood dishes as I'd like. A little meat heavy. I ended up ordering the half Caesar salad and the pesto pasta with handmade fettuccine with no chicken. The pasta was clearly handmade and had great texture and chew. Unfortunately I don't know where the pesto was. It came out in a red broth and not a flake of basil in sight. I ate a few bites to be kind, but I did not enjoy the flavor of whatever I was served at all. Salad was okay, but as a Caesar connoisseur, I would give it about a 6/10, very middle of the road. We have regularly attended and enjoyed dining at Chrysalis, until the poor service last night. We had a booth reservation to celebrate my mother's birthday and arrived on time. We patiently stood at the host stand with flowers and a birthday present in tow for 30 minutes. There weren't enough seats for us all to sit. We noticed most tables had empty plates, and no food was coming out of the kitchen. Fifteen minutes into our wait, a party of two entered the restaurant and were immediately sat in front of us at a booth that just became available. The host stated with a smirky remark, "the party ahead of you is enjoying its conversation. You will have to continue to wait." We opted to leave and found another restaurant that was happy to accommodate our party. Customer Service by Front of House for a major FAIL. We are Brentwood natives, regulars of this restaurant and will never come back nor recommend it again. read more

My wife and I have been going to Chrysalis for the past 4 years. We have been very disappointed the last 3 times even though we kept trying and going back. Tonight my wife was there with her friends for a b'day party against her better judgment. I hate to say that after staying away for months it has gotten worse. Oh my gosh!! If I could give chrysalis 10 stars I would!! What a wonderful night. We were passing through Nashville on our way home from vacation and decided to go here based on Yelp reviews. We had the best time!! Started with drinks at the bar and watched Jessica work her magic with the drinks. I ordered a blood moon rising- totally delicious and my husband enjoyed the Music city amber ale. The owner gave us seating options and we waited a few extra minutes for a booth. Then Austin took amazing care of us throughout dinner. We had the goat cheese salad - amazing! In fact, I offered to distract other diners so my husband could lick the plate the cheese and raspberry balsamic vinaigrette was so tasty. Then we moved on to the hot honey flat bread- it was perfect. Honey was just hot enough for a nice kick but wasn't fire breathing dragon hot. Loved it! For entrees we had the chicken saltimbocca and bolognaise - both made with homemade fettuccini. We loved both our entrees. Sadly we were so full we couldn't consider dessert. Jessica and Austin made our visit so special because they engaged with us- we loved talking food with them. If you are in the Franklin area - make sure you eat at Chrysalis. I have been wanting to try this place forever but always forget about it. A friend and I decided to go tonight, Wednesday night, at 6 o'clock. It was very busy I'd say for a Wednesday night. We didn't have a reservation, but they were still able to seat us right away, which was nice. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't order alcohol, but from the moment I ordered a coke & my friend ordered a water the waiter seemed to be rude/disinterested in serving us. He seemed very friendly when he first approached the table & asked if he could start us with a cocktail. It seems like the type of restaurant where the server would ask if you've been there before and then if you hadn't would proceed to explain the menu or give you some recommendations. He never did and just asked us if we were ready to order and then I asked him what the paper on our table was that listed different items . He then told me it's a create your own charcuterie list but again seems like something you would explain to the customer since it's just sitting on the table with no explanation . I then mentioned that we had some questions and he just looked at us and then we asked some questions and he shortly answered them, but didn't elaborate or add any suggestions to our questions if that makes sense. I was struggling on what to order and usually a waiter would offer suggestions or give some input he just stood there. I then asked him what he would order and he told me the two dishes he likes and then I said I would go with one of the ones he suggested. We each ordered a pasta dish and we waited almost 45 minutes for them to come out. He then brought us our check and then when he came with the check, I asked him if he'd be able to split it and he seemed annoyed at that request which I get, but I would have mentioned that had I known he was going to bring us the check ahead of time. We then waited probably another 10 to 15 minutes to get the new checks. Everything just seemed like it took a really long time. The pasta was OK, but we both agreed it felt like the flavor was a bit lacking. Also the bowls come in these sort of half slanted bowls, and it made it very hard for me to cut the chicken inside the bowl cause it's not a flat surface and when I would try to cut the chicken, the pasta would almost slide out at me because it's a slanted Bowl that leans towards you. The experience felt very promising but honestly, I think due just to the service from the waiter the experience just was not great and like I said, unfortunately, I would not go back. read more

Came here to enjoy a date night and left very impressed. Service was fantastic, the inside is decorated so well, and the food was all great. The caesar salad was delicious and the small size was perfect to share when combined with other plates. The meatballs were very good, but I'd probably skip them and try something else next time. The shrimp bruschetta was a delicious combination to behold. The star of the show was the thin crust hot honey flatbread. Absolutely amazing taste and it was pretty spicy (not too spicy but the right amount for us). To cap the night we enjoyed the tiramisu which was large and tasted just like the few we've tried when in Italy. A new menu, but a lack of execution, the Salmon in the Salmone al Limone and chicken in the Saltimbocca were both overdone. The house pasta is served quite al dente, but can be order more done. The Mussels are in an excellent sauce and there are a lot of them. The Tiramisu is a large portion and delicious. The wine list is short but diverse and there is a full bar. My department at work came here one night as a team dinner. I first need to shout out to the service staff. I don't know if they were expecting our table of 8, another table of about 8, another table about 12 or so, plus a handful of parties with 2-4 people. There were only 2 servers, but I barely noticed as we were really enjoying our food and conversation. I ate the braised short rib. Sadly the charred broccolini was way too charred and there was something off about the mashed Yukon... can't put my finger on it. I liked the short rib while my friend found it too tough. We both regret not getting pasta. All my colleagues who got pasta loved it. Check my photos for all the variety at the table. The desserts were amazing! The tiramisu was bigger than my hand and about 3" thick! I got the peanut bitter cheesecake which was kind of "deconstructed" which I found quite enjoyable. The pasta was delicious. Vodka Diavola. They swapped out the shrimp for chicken, which I appreciated. The sauce was SO FLAVORFUL. A bit spicy, which I Love! I could have DRANK IT. I ordered the Melanzana which is an eggplant fried with sauce and condiments but it was a miss. The eggplant was undercooked, thus hard to chew.
