The Apiary is divine (a drink)!! I had to hunt down the ingredients because I want try to replicate it, probably not going to go well for me. The experience just to get into the property to the table was def a lux and the property even at night was amazing. Got some s'more's as we waited for our table in the cold, well worth it. Everyone was very attentive and we were well taken care of. While I enjoyed everything I ate I do believe the food was great but the expectation was so high that it landed flat. Not to take away from how great it was just that it wasn't a wow. Except for the desert omggggg it was a honey type of mouse, can't explain it lol they brought it out for my birthday and I'm still thinking about it. They told us about a Speakeasy on the top of the property that had a lil shuttle that would take us up. Super cute lil place with a live musician who plays requests.

We visited January on a Saturday for brunch. January is the more upscale of the two restaurants at South Hall. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning with lots of big windows to let in the sunshine and allow patrons to enjoy a beautiful view of the countryside. The brunch menu is prefixed with four courses and we enjoyed our dining experience. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and some of our favorite items were the pimento cheese, sausage, beignets, and the blackberry orange sorbet that was offered as a palate cleanser. I'm glad we had the opportunity to visit January and we hope to visit South Hall again soon.

Hamachi Crudo was perhaps the best I've ever had. I could've eaten 3 plates of this!

January is always delicious. Our waitstaff was attentive... to the extent I showed the waiter a picture of a drink I'd ordered before. He said that was on the old menu but he would ask the bartender if he would make it. They did! I was very pleased. It's such a good drink Also, it's just a relaxing, upscale rustic vibe. I highly suggest anyone to good if they enjoy a good meal!

Started dinner at the bar, which is sort of shared space between Sojourner, the casual dining space, and January. The specialty cocktail menu is not long, but it is particularly well thought out. The wife absolutely loved the Apiary, and though I didn't taste it myself, it is a very beautiful looking drink. I had the spiced old fashioned, and it was a pleasant variation on the usual old fashioned. Like everything throughout Southall, the restaurant space is gorgeous. A beautiful soaring ceiling, all windows on the outside overlooking the peaceful central Tennessee hills and a very open bustling kitchen on the inside of the space. We started with the parker house rolls with honey butter and the oysters chowder style. The rolls were warm just out of the oven, huge and fluffy and addictive. The oysters were bursting with flavor, perfectly cleaned and shucked half shell, in a little pool of chowder, with a lone oyster cracker on each. Highly recommend you start with this combo, we certainly will be on every visit. Though the menu will change with the seasons, I do hope they keep these two as flagship standards. Next the beet escabeche. I'm not a huge beet fan, though the wife is, but the texture and flavor of the dish was quite pleasant, and it made a good side for our shared large plate, a dry aged porterhouse. The menu simply states "dry aged steak" and they actually had a varied selection of cuts. We chose a smaller porterhouse so the wife could enjoy the filet side, while I dove into the strip side. The three smaller and one large plate, all shared, was a filling happy dinner for us. Service was consistently friendly, helpful, and efficient throughout. It's silly expensive, like everything at Southall, and they automatically add a 20% tip to the check. Just be aware you're going to be warming up your credit card there. As locals, we won't usually be staying the night at Southall, though it was a perfect end to dinner that we could just wander down the hall to our room. But we will be back regularly to enjoy dinner at January.

Apiary

WOW! This was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, everything was amazing. Our waiter, William, was so friendly and informative. Our water glasses were never empty, each course was paced perfectly, and the ambience was perfect. Not to mention, everything we ordered was incredible. I can't recommend January enough if you are staying at Southall or are within driving distance. We will be back! Thank you the best anniversary dinner.

Hamachi Crudo

We came for dinner. Absolutely everything was wonderful from beginning to end. Staff were super friendly and professional. The food was amazing - so delicious. They recommend ordering to share. There are three (maybe four, if you want dessert) courses. They offer an extensive wine/drink list. Our server, Shaydia, was simply the best. Each of her recommendations were spot on. We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

PHENOMENAL. Truly. First and foremost, the drive up to the inn is beautiful, and the service all the way from valet, the front desk, to the restaurant staff in its entirety was top tier. We sat down and were blown away with the ambiance, and loved the open layout of the kitchen. You're able to see everyone working diligently to prepare your food, and the main chef looks over every dish and gives the okay before allowing it to leave the kitchen. Our server, Barrett was great. Seeing how it was our first time dining here, he went in depth and in great detail about the menu, answered our questions with ease and gave fantastic recommendations. We ordered the bread, and we were told we were going to get the last 2 rolls (which is half of the normal amount), but they wanted us to be able to try it, so they said it's on them! Their butter has honey in it, specifically from the bees on their farm. From there, we had the lobster. I was a little nervous initially because I'm not a lobster fan, but I was blown away by the presentation & overall flavor. Finally, we had shared the dry aged ribeye, which came in different sizes, but we opted for the 22oz. I will say, it's $8/oz, so the price definitely is expensive but the quality is unmatched. You're going to spend some money here, but the service all around is well worth it. Such a great first time farm to table experience. We'll be back.

This was our first visit to Southall and January. We are from Nashville, so familiar with the dining scene in town. Overall, January offers an elevated experience with beautifully prepared and presented food and drink, with a little room for improvement as they grow. We enjoyed two cocktails, the apiary and another rum based drink with mezcal - both cocktails were visually stunning but my wife and I both agreed they were far too sweet/syrupy. The mezcal in the second was completely undetectable. Not amazing for $20 each. The food was very good. They were out of the rolls everyone seems to order ($14!) so we started with chowder style oysters and lamb ribs. I personally liked the lamb rib with its tangy almost sour glaze. The char was awesome and they were cooked to perfection. We also had the lobster small plate which was nice - a half lobster in chunks in a sweet buttery sauce. For mains we had the arctic char and short rib. The skin on the fish was perfectly crisped, and the meat was light, texturally spot on. The green goddess sauce was a nice complement to the fish. The short rib was visually beautiful, covered in a fragrant green curry and accompanied by leaves, basmati and kimchi. Like the lamb ribs, the char on the short rib was to perfection. I only wished the meat was a little more tender. It was borderline fork tender - still very good but a little short of 10/10. The sommelier was very friendly and helpful pairing wines with our mains, and even let us try a few samples of a few of his more unusual picks for fun. If you're looking for a sophisticated place with impressive ambiance and artfully prepared plates, this is the place. The price definitely reflects it however and considering many of the other top notch restaurants we have been to in Nashville, this was among the most expensive meals we have had. I think this meal was as much or even more than Audrey and June. Just a fair warning.

Our amuse bouche which was a pork spread on a piece of baguettes with berries on top!! Yummy!

The restaurant was beautiful, and the food was good. However, I think you pay more for the atmosphere than the food itself.

Even with the way it was dressed and presented, the care and attention to detail was obvious. There's also the lobster bisque and Pavlova dessert. Loved it and it was picky-kiddo approved, especially that Pavlova which was just divine! We were very lucky to have dined with a performer player her guitar. She had a beautiful voice. We had a large group of 9 and they seated us right away. We chose to sit on the patio to enjoy the warm afternoon sun and breeze. It's a dog-friendly spot, and our kids loved petting the other guests' dogs (asking for permission of course). The inside is cute as well, but it would have been a little crowded with our larger party. But I could imagine hanging out with friends at the bar or on a date night with my wife. Scout's has a large and diverse menu, so everyone was able to order something to their taste. My son had a smash burger and appetizer of fries, cheese curds, poutine and bacon, my daughter had chicken tenders and Mac N Cheese, I had pizza, and my wife ordered taquitos. They also have a full bar and several craft beers to choose from. I had the Good People IPA, which is one of my faves. The service was excellent. Our server, Lauren, was friendly and attentive. Grabbed empty plates quickly, refilled waters & sodas without asking, and was ready to bring us the next round at just the right time.

Parking is easy with plenty of free parking available on the street or in the lot closer to Kroger. The restaurant offers a bar area, tables, and booths. It's casual with a dog theme. They have an outdoor patio as well. The service has always been friendly. I do find that it consistently takes longer than I'd expect for the food to come out. Just something to keep in mind if you're in a rush or have little kids. Our most recent visit was for the hard candy themed Christmas pop up. The decorations were cute and I liked the themed menu to go with it. The Holiday Joe was a delicious cocktail. I also really enjoyed the Bacon Wrapped Dates, Chicken Pot Pie Soup, and Korean Meatballs. The meals from the kid's menu are large portions. My kids have enjoyed the Burger and Butter Noodles. The fries are really good and fruit is an option if you prefer a healthier choice. On the regular menu we've enjoyed the Short Rib Sliders and Fish & Chips. The Hot Brown was fine, but not a favorite. The Chinese Chicken Salad was delicious. I really enjoyed the dressing with the salad. This is a good spot for us as a family since everyone can order different types of food. We have enjoyed our food here too.

Very nice restaurant!…read more We had reservations at 7:45, checked in early and were seated on arrival. Upon entering the restaurant it seemed swamped but the staff was well prepared for the guests. Our server, was amazing! (I'm ashamed we didn't remember his name, Paul maybe). Nonetheless, he knew the menu, the specials, the drinks, and suggestions! We loved each and everyone of the suggestions and choices we made. Our dining experience started with the signature old fashion followed by a bottle of Heitz Cellars Cabernet! We ordered the lamb and brisket buns. Both were savory, delicious and well prepared. Followed by their Sushi Roll. It was described as "if you love sushi, you've never had anything like this." (I've had a ton of Sushi all over the world, and this was a spectacular Hamachi Roll.) we rounded out our meal with the Butternut Burrata and bread basket and a Beef Tenderloin. It was cooked to perfection and able to be cut with a fork. (I am salivating thinking about how perfectly it was prepared.) Just when we thought it couldn't be any better our server suggested we look at the dessert menu. He tempted me with a blood orange sorbet followed by a peanut butter chocolate pie. AMAZING! The fun thing was, I consumed the Heitz Cabernet throughout my entire meal - all the way through dessert. My high remarks to the chef and the staff because this team knows how to please and perform flawlessly!

This was our "splurge" dinner on a trip to Franklin, TN. My friend we were visiting had been before…read moreand had raved about it, but even she agreed this visit just wasn't up to snuff. The place is beautiful, but we were seated in the least interesting area. My friend said it used to be an open patio and was renovated for more indoor seating, which makes sense, but it lacked any real atmosphere. When I am spending this kind of money I want a slow, leisurly pace, and this felt rushed. Yes, we probably could have asked the waiter to slow things down, but we didn't. I ordered a specialty cocktail - the Midnight Sun that was delish - it was layered and around $16. The waiter then brought out what ended up being the highlight of the meal, a little treat from the chef. It was a creamy gnocchi dish to share, about three pieces each, super rich and honestly I could have eaten 20 more. We also spilt the bread flight. The bread was good but I wasn't a fan of the spreads, I'm a BUTTER person, these were more like bean spreads. The brussels sprouts with pork were also really good. Hubby and I split a mixed green salad that was pretty mediocre, and the croutons were almost too hard to chew. Then came the pork, which was a dissapointment. It was so tough it actually got caught in my throat a couple times despite chewing it well. We didn't even finish it. For the price, it should have been tender and full of flavor, and it was neither. My friend ordered the duck pasta and said it had "weird pieces of meat" in it. Her husband got the filet and loved it, so at least someone at the table was happy. We skipped dessert after most of us had disappointing entrees. I guess the good news is they rotate the menu every few months, so maybe it would be a totally different experience next time.
