Ooof. I really thought this was going to be great. The positives- manager came around to check in on all the tables, I always appreciate that. The broccoli and the cauliflower were delicious? The negatives- the frittata. ‍ I know it's a shared plate situation, but our waitress also said they are appropriate for a lunch portion. Ordering from the brunch menu - the eggs Benedict were nomal...the frittata was three massive slices. Like- what?? Ok fine. But then I took a bite and that junk was microwaved. It was spongy, wet, bland, luke warm at best, and just so disappointing. I didn't eat any of it and the server didn't ask. Looking back I probably should have said something.... The Scotto family emigrated from Italy in 1905, immigrating to a bustling Brooklyn, New York, and bringing their glorious family recipes with them. Thank heavens the latest generation of Scottos settled in Nashville not long ago and founded Pelato in Germantown in 2023. Two years later, in March of 2026, they opened this Cool Springs location much to our delight. Think of it as Italian tapas. Two to three plates per person of small portions will easily do the trick, even for the heartiest of appetites. And let me tell you, the crispy garlic potatoes are the star of the show! The edges are crisp as advertised, but the interior is beautifully tender as the marvelous essence of garlic envelopes the entire potato! The garlic bread appetizer with a side of melted parmesan is also spectacular and highly recommended! The black garlic sauce on the burnt broccolini is marvelous, and the fried calamari is pretty good, too. The chicken parm is enormous, a deep fried chicken breast pounded thin in a classic red sauce with copious amounts of melted Parmesan on top! By tapas rules, I'd probably count that as two dishes! The crispy cheesy calzone was just okay, appropriately small for tapas but not the best item on the menu. But the service is spectacular and it's obvious the staff is very well trained! If you like Italian food and love to share dishes with friends and family, this is a great place to eat! I would suggest getting a reservation because this is definitely a trending spot! I started off with a Limoncello Margarita, great flavor, Mexico meets Italy! This is a tapas-style restaurant, meaning the dishes are smaller plates designed for sharing. We had a group of five and ordered a variety of items. We started with two orders of the Garlic Bread, very good! The fresh-made House Mozzarella was amazing and an absolute must-have. We also had the Pelato Salad, Burnt Broccolini (soo good, another must-have), and the Stuffed Mushrooms, which were very good as well. For the entrées, we shared the Chicken Parmigiana, Meatballs Al Forno, Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, and Shrimp Ravioli. Everything was excellent! Here's where we messed up... we didn't save room for dessert! The service was amazing, and the timing of the food coming out was perfect. You can sit at the bar, indoors, or outside. Sitting inside was VERY loud and made it hard to have a conversation with the table, so outside seating would probably be the better option. If you live in Franklin, what are you waiting for? Finally got around to trying the second greater Nashville location of Pelato. Originally a Brooklyn import, Pelato promises Italian small plates but in practice feels more like an elevated Olive Garden: addictive and tasty for a few key signature dishes, but not blowing you away with culinary prowess (and featuring a lot of dishes a decent home cook could pull off). That said, sometimes going out is just fun, and Pelato is wildly popular right now, so the Franklin location couldn't have come at a better time to meet the demand. The Franklin location is attached to Cool Springs Mall, across from the Ulta. The parking lot fills up fast, and despite the space being two to three times the size of the Germantown location, on a Saturday night the restaurant was almost completely packed. I snagged a solo seat at the bar. It was incredibly hot inside; the couple next to me was sweating profusely and told me they skipped dessert because it was so uncomfortable. Pelato really needs to make smarter calls about opening the outdoor windows on warm days, because it genuinely affected the experience. Bar service was pleasant and fast. I got their signature radiatore vodka, which is a little small if you're treating it as dinner but I wasn't overly hungry and knew what I was getting into. The pasta was slightly overdone for my taste and the vodka sauce just a touch too rich for me, but overall a solid dish. For dessert I tried the cannoli chips and dip; the dip is great but the chips were a little oily and slightly over-fried. Overall, Pelato is just okay, to me. It's loud, uncomfortable, and just not really my vibe at either location, but sometimes it hits a specific craving and the radiatore vodka does (generally) live up to the hype. read more

This was my first time trying Pelato after hearing rave reviews from friends. As someone who is gf, their numerous gf options were a major draw and they did not disappoint! We ordered a salad, crispy garlic potatoes, creamy polenta and bolognese, radiatori vodka pasta, and campanelle shrimp limone. Each dish was delicious, everything but the salad came out hot and fresh. The service was attentive and friendly. Our server was familiar with gf needs, which is always helpful as a patron. Went on a Thursday night at 5:30- there were 2 of us. We walked right in and were seated right away. Our server came and greeted us right away and brought us water. We ordered the pelato salad, potato croquettes, vodka pasta. We loved the salad and pasta but wouldn't get the potato croquettes again, not bad just not our favorite. We felt like they needed a sauce or something maybe. Our waiter was very attentive & helpful when we asked her questions about the menu. The food came out fairly quickly. Average as the day is long and a complete rip-off. How do you serve Chicken Parmesan with no pasta? Also, no option to add/purchase a side of pasta unless you buy another entrée. That's a first. The Parm was a 7 out of 10. My wife ordered the Short Rib Rigatoni. The short rib was bland and lacked seasoning, and the pasta was undercooked, as if it hadn't been boiled long enough. My college-aged daughter ordered a pasta with Parmesan cheese. I assumed she would receive a reasonable portion. Instead, it looked more like a kid's meal than an entrée. And don't fall for the garlic bread appetizer. They basically took a sesame seed hoagie roll, toasted it, and added a little butter and garlic seasoning. Calling it an appetizer is a stretch. For anyone considering this place do your homework. Now, there's an establishment called North Italia nearby that absolutely blows it out of the water. Better ambiance, vibe, and most importantly, far better food. It's not even close. This restaurant is aided by mall traffic, if it were located anywhere else, it would struggle to survive. Finally stopped into Pelato for Mother's Day brunch and loved it! We had great service on a really busy day which can be difficult. As far as the brunch items, I only tried the French toast but it was DIVINE! Everything else is egg heavy and sounds really good. I'll try more next time! This is an Italian restaurant, so why is it "tapas style"? Tapas are Spanish and are meant to be a small bite before dinner, like an appetizer. Italian restaurants should not be tapas style. It's just an exotic name for a version of shrinkflation. It's an excuse to serve small plates for more money. It's kind of a shame because the food is tasty, it just ends up being very over priced once you order enough to make it a meal. $14 plate of broccolini should be abundant, "shareable" as they say their menu is, but really it's a rather small side for even one person. So somethings are shareable (meatballs) and some are just overpriced and small. Second, it gets busy inside and very very loud. The kitchen is a fairly open concept, so it adds to the noise and probably to the temps inside, as it was hot on a 75 degree day humid day. They have a large outdoor covered patio that was much quieter. Third, the food took forever to piecemeal its way out and when it did, it was all at different temperatures. Some things were piping hot and some were cold, which took from the experience. Also the "tapas style" means that your food comes out in an order that doesn't make sense. We got our broccolini first. We waited nearly 30 minutes for the vegetable plate to come first? Lastly, I paid $15 for a glass of Pinot Grigio, which was half a glass pour, maybe 4 ounces. I saw other tables receive full glasses, maybe 6oz. Where's the consistency? As a plus, the waitstaff is very attentive and well trained. 3.5 stars from me, food was tasty, service was attentive, but it took forever to get food and it wasn't always hot when it was supposed to be. It was packed for a Tuesday night (good on them) that said, it was loud, like really loud in the dining room. I had a hard time hearing my family at our table. But, it's not your server's fault. It's management policy. Their policies shout clearly that groups are as welcome as a Bronx cheer. And I'm shocked by some of the management's childish responses to negative reviews here on Yelp (alas, it is Yelp). They seem to view customers as non-essential elements in the success of a business that operates a mere 4 hours per day. The business doesn't mind taking your money, it's just unwilling to help a group graciously give it to them. There's a per person minimum expense requirement for groups of 9 or greater... O.K. They then force groups of ANY size to manually figure out how to split charges across a policy max of 4 payment cards. WTH? Bless their hearts. If you're accidentally in a group on a first trip, just happily take as long as you wish to work out who owes what because the goodfellas running the joint just don't get it. They're good at wasting customer time about getting paid, so do waste theirs. Your time isn't valuable and who cares if the experience ends on a sour note? (Hint: Not the management). And next time, if there is one, just go somewhere else or come back when it's just you and yours. Most of my group will not come back. read more

We came in on a Friday evening and the restaurant was very packed. We were a good of four and we were very glad we made reservations. Parking was a little tricky so plan a bit of extra time in case you have to park a little far. The first table we were shown to was right next to the door so we did ask to move. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and we were able to sit by the window a little further back in the restaurant so there wasn't as much noise. We started with the bread which came with a parmesan dipping sauce which was very good. We ordered a few things to try. First, we got the fresh made mozzarella and pelato salad. The Pelato salad was one of my favorite dishes of the night. Such great flavor. I really loved the dressing. We all agreed that we could order just that for our meal and be happy. The mozzarella was good. A very small portion. Just enough for us to each have a very small piece. We all agreed that the Burnt Broccolini was one of our favorite dishes of the night. Our server even said it was his favorite as well. I was really excited for the meatballs but they were just okay to all of us. The chicken parmesan was good. Some great flavor. The standout dish of the night was definitely the Campanelle Shrimp Limone. That was one of the most delicious things I have ever had. Probably my favorite pasta dish of all time. So fresh, bright and delicious. We shared a few desserts. I didn't really love any of the desserts but the Bourbon Butter Pecan ice cream was the best thing we had. Terrific. read more

We were very excited to try the new restaurant we've heard so much buzz about, and since the weather was perfect, we picked the patio! Praises: the manager! She was wonderful! Our waitress was triple sat with a large party. The manager jumped in and helped a lot. She was very present throughout the meal and checked in on us many times. Our waitress, while busy, did a great job and was apologetic for the business. The food came out item by item. We ordered 5 items. Everything we had tasted great. A separate server ran drinks out to us. It seems the serving staff and managers have a great teamwork system that impressed us. Tips for improvement: the host stand seemed overwhelmed/inexperienced. They may have been new, but customer service and communication was lacking. No greeting, little to no eye contact when talking, just staring at the iPad, no explaining if there would be a wait or anything. They triple sat our server when other sections were open. It was a poor choice by the host team for both the server and the tables in their section. We were a party of 4 which included our 3 year old. The host that took us to our table removed the fourth place setting before we sat. Our child didn't have a plate, silverware, etc. We had to ask for everything piece by piece. It definitely wasn't kid friendly. That is on us for not realizing, but just about everywhere here is, so we didn't think of it. No kids menu. No kids cup. They asked if I brought a cup for my son when I ordered him a drink. Not something I would have thought of. There was nothing rude said or done about having a small child there, they were friendly about it, but I'm not sure I would take a small child back. Definitely more of a date night, business lunch or friends place than a family place. Wonderful patio for outdoor dining! It was pretty loud however, our waitress couldn't hear the drink order and we struggled to talk across the table. I would maybe try inside next time. It gets packed very quickly.Service is quick, however it feels like they are rushing you out. Even when you are still eating. The food is ok. Meatballs were too salty, same with their red sauce. Love the bread with the cheese sauce. The chicken Parmesan is great. For the most part their pastas are ok..but one of them felt a bit undercooked. They recommended 3 plates per person but is too much. My last time we had 3 for 2 ppl and we had leftovers. Their cocktails are ok but also too pricey for the size. Really wanted to like a new Italian restaurant. Having been to Brooklyn a fair amount I would have to say it would not make it there. Wine selection was poor. Very small pours and the stemware was horrible. Thick glass that could be dropped off a skyscraper and not break. The caprese salad had tasteless purple tomatoes and the mozerrela was seasoned and actually not bad. The Cauliflower was pretty good. Meatballs were average and the Polenta with bolognese sauce was poor. Way too much sauce and cheese. Server was super nice, but had way too many tables and we had to ask multiple people for ice. Prices were not commensurate for the food that we received. Manager came by and said he was the manager of the managers? I can not see this place lasting over 2 years. Sorry, about the loudest restaurant I have been to in a very long time. Food came in a crazy order, but that is what the server told us. Guess we will go to downtown Nashville for our Italian food. We were so excited to try this place based on the reviews. Think this is a one and done. 2 Stars We visited Pelato's new Franklin location on a Monday night around 7pm. It was surprisingly packed for a Monday, but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server also came over quickly. The menu is structured around unconventional small shareable plates, so our table took a little time deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the burnt broccolini, meatballs, garlic bread, two vodka pastas, baked ziti, and two chicken parms. Early in the meal, a Diet Coke was brought to the table but the server accidentally dropped it and spilled the drink across the table and onto one member of our party. To her credit, she was apologetic, but it still turned into a whole ordeal of cleaning the table and dealing with the spill, which disrupted the flow of the meal pretty early on. Accidents happen, but there was no effort made to reconcile the situation beyond a verbal apology. There was also some confusion with the tea. An unsweet tea was ordered, but the drink that arrived was extremely sweet and clearly tasted like sweet tea. It was sent back and replaced, but the second one that came out tasted the same. Our server mentioned that this had apparently been happening with other tables that evening as well. Eventually a manager came over to check on it and ultimately told us they only have unsweet tea and admitted there might be an issue with the recipe they are using. Despite the mix-ups, both the Diet Coke and the tea still appeared on the bill. The biggest issue of the night, though, was the timing of the food. They did mention that dishes might come out at different times, which makes sense with a tapas-style format, but what actually happened went far beyond that. Some items appeared almost instantly (like the garlic bread), while other dishes took an extremely long time. The baked ziti didn't arrive until over an hour after we ordered it -- well after the rest of the food had already come out and been eaten. By that point we were essentially just waiting for it to arrive so it could be boxed up and taken with us. If certain dishes are expected to take significantly longer, that would be understandable with the proper heads up. However, in this case there was no indication that anything would take that long, and the delay honestly felt less like intentional pacing and more like something in the kitchen may have simply been mismanaged or forgotten. It felt like the restaurant hides behind the "small plates/tapas-style experience" concept as a way to excuse the lack of coordination from the kitchen. While staggered dishes are expected in that format, there still needs to be some level of pacing so the table can actually share and enjoy the meal together. In this case, it just felt poorly managed. Toward the end of the meal a manager came over and told us that he is a "body language guy" and had noticed that we seemed disgruntled with our experience. He said he wanted to hear our thoughts about the meal. However, the interaction mostly consisted of him discussing his credentials and reiterating ideas like "the customer is always right," while leaving very little room for us to actually explain the issues we experienced. We did our best to communicate the concerns mentioned above, and while he appeared somewhat receptive, the conversation ultimately ended without any attempt to make things right. The check arrived with the full bill, including the drinks that had issues earlier in the meal. To be fair, the food itself was good. The quality of the dishes we had was solid, which made the operational issues even more disappointing. Pelato clearly has the potential to be a great spot, but good food alone doesn't make up for disorganized service and a lack of follow-through when problems arise. read more

Too bougie of a reservation policy for Franklin. They require a credit card to book a dinner reservation and charge you if you are not able to make it. It would be understandable if you were in downtown Nashville or a much higher in restaurant. This is family style Italian food and not even white table cloth to have this type of policy, again for Franklin. We ate here on their opening weekend and the food all came out at the same time even though the server said he would "space out" the entrees accordingly, but didn't. We felt rushed to eat and shovel food in so it was still hot rather than enjoying ourselves over a nice night out especially for the $$$. read more

For a party of 3 (3 pastas, 2 apps, 1 dessert, 4 drinks) we spent a total of $220. And for the cost, we don't understand how an espresso martini could cost $20 but each pasta dish we got was $16-17, which we unfortunately did not picture. The caciao e pepe pasta was good. The pesto pasta was extremely salty, very oily, and tasted like there was just a hint of basil - did not seem fresh. We couldn't quite figure out how we felt about the vodka pasta until it hit us: Spaghetti-Os. Service was good, Tony did a great job.
