one of the best italian restaurants i've been to recently!! a couple cons- it took our reserved table for 8 an additional 20-25 mins to be prepared when we arrived, which was just a few minutes after our reservation time at 9pm on saturday night. luckily we were able to snag some bach trip photos outside while we waited, but it was a bit annoying we had to wait at all. however it was super busy at that time saturday night so it made sense. another "con" i should mention in case anyone has a preference for this- one of my friends didn't like how all the food came out so rapidly, but honestly, i didn't really mind this. it did feel a little "chaotic", but i was in awe of their efficient service and servers. a last con (so i guess more than a couple) is that when it came time for us to want our check, our server was nowhere to be found, despite being around for the rest of the meal. so it took us like 10 minutes to be able to get our check. it was the very end of the restaurant's opening time (11pm) so i'm sure this played a role, but that was a bit annoying. now in terms of all the great things about this restaurant- the service was mostly very efficient and the servers were very friendly. they had plenty of servers and staff so it made for a bustling experience. the food was AMAZING. a few of my notable favorites- the SHRIMP CAMPANELLE was DELICIOUS. very lemony flavor to warn those who prefer something more subtle. the broccolini, one of their more popular dishes, also met expectations. it had an asian kinda flavor- they specifically said a black garlic flavor. the polenta was also great - i've never had a polenta with bolognese sauce. the crostini was also great. and my cucumber spritz drink was super refreshing and yummy. overall, this was a truly amazing dining experience. they did mention the plates were small and kinda like tapas style but honestly the dishes were bigger than expected. our server recommended 2-3 dishes per person, and honestly i disagree. we ordered maybe about 12-14 dishes (i think?) for a party of 8, and we did have leftovers. honestly i really didn't mind the leftovers because it meant we were able to try more of their dishes, but just be mindful of how much you order id say. super happy with our experience here!! this was a highlight of my quick trip to nashville. i don't have that many good photos of the food this time, so source is 'just trust me bro' read more

We had wonderful service here on a Friday night as a group of four and sat outside on the uncovered section of the patio. We had reservations and got seated immediately. We were very glad to be outside, as it was a bit noisy indoors for my parents. We did have a bit of an issue with our silverware being dirty when we arrived, but not entirely their fault as we were outside. The vodka pasta was the star of the show. It was excellent. We also had the calamari and the seafood pasta, which were both delicious. We have ordered the polenta bolognese before and loved it, but it felt a bit light on the bolognese today. We also really enjoyed the Crispy Cauliflower Piccata. Overall, this is a fun spot to come with your friends with very solid food! I visited here on a Wednesday evening for dinner. I was worried that this restaurant would be over hyped given that it is a common recommendation for out of towners and tourists, but it truly met the hype! I was with a group of two other girls and we ordered a couple different items for the table. Burnt broccolini and mozzarella for an appetizer. The burnt broccolini was delicious but the mozzarella is a pass for next time (nothing bad about it but was really just mozzarella nothing too fancy). For meats we ordered meatballs and chicken Parmesan. Not sure if it was our chicken Parmesan but it was definitely really bready and the one item we didn't finish. The meatballs were perfect and came with three in the dish. For pasta we got the pesto and the vodka both were delicious!! Definitely order and met the hype. For dessert we got the jarimisu and the mini ice cream sandwiches. The jarimisu was still slightly frozen but the ice cream sandwiches were delicious. We also ordered drinks but the sangria was meh at best. The waiter was super helpful with suggestions and spacing out the items for the flow of the meal. Portions were perfect for our group. We didn't have a reservation and they were easily able to fit us in on a Wednesday evening for an outside table which might not be the case during the weekend. One thing I would say the dishes were seasoned well, they seemed to be overly salty. Still delicious. Drinks! Super overpriced. $20 for a small Tanqueray Martini, $11 for a smallish Peroni, plus remember you are paying Nashville tax plus tip on the drinks. I don't understand the hype of this place. I thought that the drinks and apps were pretty good. We went for my friend's birthday and they sat us in this weird back room claiming had a good view when it was light out, but it was dark so it was just kind of weird. And then our waiter checked in on us almost excessively until we were waiting an extra 20 minutes after the rest of our food came out for our chicken Parm. I understand that it's a tapas style as it's ready situation, but we did tell them one of our friends had a gluten allergy and all her food came out after ours so it was a little bit awkward and we felt bad because she was waiting to eat. I thought that the rigatoni vodka that everyone hyped up was not good. It was gummy and cold. I just don't think it was worth over $400 for 4 people. Pelato is a Brooklyn inspired tapas spot that is perfect for a date night! I believe it is a sister restaurant to Luogo which is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in Nashville. You can absolutely feel the energy when you walk into the place that gives you Italy vibe. Their food is amazing. I would recommend to get about 2-3 dishes per person. Cocktails were curated and prepared perfectly. They make their own pasta and it's so tasty. We started with the Butrata Crostini, meatballs, lemon pasta and every dish was amazing. Pelato is super popular in Nashville right now, so I had high hopes for my visit. Sadly, I was SO disappointed. Firstly, no onsite parking downtown is always a con. Secondly, the indoor acoustics are overwhelmingly loud and it was difficult to hear my husband across the table. We ordered a couple plates per person, re the waitress's suggestion, but the only thing I'd order again is the garlic bread. We came to celebrate our second anniversary, which was acknowledged. However, the vodka pasta tasted like canned Alfredo with red pepper in it. The pork ragu was way too salty, and the arancini was too bland. I was expecting to taste the guanciale in the arancini but I did not. The meatballs were average, salty, and featured many strong Italian spices. The calamari was one of the better dishes. The peppers on top were a nice touch. I don't recommend Pelato at their price point for the quality. For my son's birthday, we booked a reservation at Pelato on a Sunday night. He loves Italian food, and this Nashville spot delivers. And we were able to book using my Chase Sapphire Reserve, so we had a $150 dining credit to cover a majority of the cost. Since it was Sunday night, Pelato offered its special Sunday Sauce (aka Sunday Gravy) family-style pasta and meat dish. Sunday Sauce comes with a variety of meats baked in a special marinara sauce that felt like home. They have a limited quantity of these dishes every Sunday, and we literally ordered the last one available for the night. We also ordered a side of garlic bread (delicious, but would be better if it were covered in mozzarella), crispy garlic potatoes (amazing!), and crispy fried calamari with candied peppers (my wife's fave). The restaurant itself has a lively atmosphere, which contributes to the overall noise level. It's rather small inside, but Pelato makes good use of the space. For my son's birthday, they brought out a sparkling dish of ice cream. This place is always a solid 10/10. The vibe is vibrant, bustling, and fun. We sat at the bar and got great service from the bartender. We ordered off menu for the drinks and asked for a classic old fashioned - it was fine, but I'd stick with one of their specialty cocktails. Food wise, we went with the house-made mozz (this is a yes every time) and their artichoke arancini. For entrees, we split the chicken parm and radiatori. We celebrated a birthday at our first visit to Pelato. We had a warm greeting from the hostesses. We had a reservation and were initially given a table right next to the kitchen and thoroughfare for the servers. We asked to move, and were moved to about 2 tables over in the same area. They are not the best seats in that section. A larger party table sits behind these tables, making it a tight spot for people to move through. The food here has big flavor. We enjoyed garlic, spice, cream, acid, and sweet notes in the dishes. Favorites at the table were the crispy potatoes, prosciutto, garlic bread, and cannoli pancakes. Our party was divided about the burnt broccolini which has a very smoky flavor and the eggs bene-Vic which was overly salty and has a strange pink color. The Italian biscuits and gravy plating doesn't look appetizing, and it is very spicy. We loved the frozen martinis. Service was good, pacing was okay, and food was nice overall. I am pleased to say Pelato is the real deal! I came in with a group of 4 on a Tuesday night without a reservation, and it was busy! We had to sit outside on the covered patio, but luckily the weather wasn't too hot and they also had fans to help with the heat. This is a Brooklyn founded Italian restaurant with small plates meant to be shared. I was glad to be here with 4 people so we could try a lot of the menu. We started with the mozzarella caprese style with tomatoes and garlic bread. It was very good and fresh! The burnt broccolini wasn't my favorite, but everyone else enjoyed it so maybe it was me and more a preference issue. The mushrooms were a highlight and very good with breading and served in an oil. The pasta we sampled were all very good, but my favorite was the Campanelle shrimp limone. It was a cream based sauce but not too rich with heavy lemon, herbs and a well balanced dish overall. The bucatini cacio e Pepe was excellent and very authentic (I've eaten a lot of bad versions of it) but this one was great, it's just a richer dish. Our server said it's the most difficult dish they make and has to be executed exactly right or it's bad. We also got the most popular dish, the radiatori vodka which is supposed to be spicy but was mild for me. It was still very good. I really appreciated how quickly our drinks came out, and we ordered a mixture of cocktails and wine (the lemoncello margarita was excellent), and the service was great. Then came the pastas -- everything is served in shareable "tapas" portions, so we ordered three: Carbonara (special of the day) -- with ham and pecorino. Good but a bit heavy for me; buttery and rich. Radiatori Vodka -- tomato, cream, Calabrian chili, and Parmigiano Reggiano. Excellent! The tomato-cream base had depth and balance -- like the best tomato soup you've ever had, but with pasta instead of a spoon. I'd honestly buy this at Panera if they sold it. Campanelle Shrimp Limone -- creamy lemon and Parmigiano. My favorite! Light, bright, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Two out of three were absolute standouts. The flavors, texture, and portions make this one of the best Italian meals I've had in a while. Pelato gets a rare five-star review from me! Four of us went for a weekday dinner and the restaurant was packed, so definitely make a reservation before you go. Our server was Matt and he was part of the reason why our dinner was so excellent. He was super attentive without being a nuisance. He kept the drinks flowing, timed out our food perfectly and had excellent meal suggestions. Our meal: 1. Garlic Bread with Red Sauce - the bread was thickly sliced and grilled, so it was crunchy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside. It was super buttery and something I would eat every day of my life. 2. Pelato Salad - all of us loved this salad. I think it was the oregano vinaigrette that really made the salad a star. You usually don't hear someone rave about a salad, but this one was a must-order. 3. Burnt Broccolini - again, all of us loved this. The broccolini may have been my favorite thing I ate. It was perfectly charred and had the most delicious dressing over it. 4. Crispy Garlic Potatoes - good. Hot and crispy but a basic potato. 5. Creamy Polenta & Bolognese Sauce - not what I was expecting at all. It was really flat and covered in broiled cheese. I tasted more Parm than I did anything else. 6. Chicken Parmigiana - really good. Crispy chicken, lots of sauce. 7. Campanelle Limone - for all of us, this was our least favorite dish. I was expecting to taste lemon, but the creamy sauce was too lemony. I would not order that again. 8. Radiatori Vodka - ending on a high note. This was delicious. Who doesn't love a vodka sauce? They recommend 2-3 dishes per person. The hype of this place is so real. I've been wanting to try Pelato since moving here because of all the high praise everyone has to say about it. Finally went for their Valentines Day brunch and let me say, it was quite amazing. The dishes are tapas style, so the portion sizes are not that large, so we got a couple to try and I love that concept. All the dishes were amazing. Their Vodka pasta dish was highly recommended and I thought it was pretty good but I guess I was expecting more of a Wow factor. The garlic bread with Parm dip was amazing. And if you go for brunch definitely recommend the Nutella French toast. Their Italian sandwich was also great and was more sophisticated than your average deli sandwich. My daughter recently finished her semester at college (with a 4.0GPA) and decided to go here to celebrate - we ordered a couple of dishes per person and share amongst the three of us (we ordered 8 dishes total, which was more than enough for the three of us to share) - it's in Nashville, so expect to park at a paid lot or on the street, it gets busy so reservations are recommended. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves very much. The food was delicious and if you know Brooklyn-style Italian you'll feel like you are at Sunday dinner with your large extended family! The Branzino was so good, we actually ordered one more after we (thought) we had finished our meal....we just needed that one more bite of the Branzino! For dessert we had the gelato which is made on site. The roaming manager recommended it get the bourbon butter pecan - and it was life-changing. Service was excellent, with our waiter being attentive, courteous and on top of things. The manager stopped by our table a couple of times to check in and make sure everything was good. It can be a little loud inside, but if you're from a traditional Italian family, it will just feel like you're at a big family function with people talking and laughing and just having a good time with great food. It's not inexpensive - our bill came to just under $300, but if you want dishes made to order and high quality made by people who care about what they serve you, then you'll understand the value of what you get. The food was disappointing. It came out in a weird order with salad coming last. The salad was bland. The meatballs were overworked making the texture sticky. The baked ziti was dry, we only ate one scoop and then did not want to take it home. Chicken parm was rubbery. Homemade mozzarella was not impressive, just rubbery and bland. Inside it was loud, hard to hear conversation at the table. Not very child friendly. They did offer spaghetti with butter which my kids liked, but beyond that, nothing else was child friendly. Servers put anything hot or breakable in front of my two-year-old. Servers seemed overwhelmed and not responsive to families wanting to order fast and leave promptly. I wish we had been offered a table outside where it would have been calmer and more comfortable with kids. They post the policy in the menu that they will ask you to leave if sitting at the table for over two-hours, which is offensive. They also require a card for reservations and charge you if you don't show up. We will not return and I am surprised the reviews are so high. read more

They said their polenta is the least ordered menu item, but my entire table thought it was so unique, surprising, and yum! This is one of the hot places to eat in Nashville atm. It's billed as NY inspired Italian. Style is small plates that the table can treat as family style. It's quite expensive for what you get. There were 6 of us and our bill with tax and tip was $500. Nine alcoholic drinks and lots of small plates. Automatically assigned a 20% tip on our party of 6. The great plates we had were shrimp limone, potato croquettes, and pasta with vodka sauce. The ok plates were prosciutto, mozzarella caprese, calamari, and the "Am I at Olive Garden?" plates were the chicken parm (so dry) and pesto fusilli. The other plates we had were not really memorable either. My big takeaway from the evening was the incredible lack of sound treatment in the restaurant. Conversation was nearly impossible to have. It was so live and bouncy in there, I won't return. If you've eaten at Hampton Social, the lack of sound treatment will be familiar. I didn't expect to leave an average review for this place but when I balance out quality of food, ambience, and return on investment, a 3 feels right to me. read more

I went to Pelato for my birthday this week and it was delicious. I was unfamiliar with their "small plate" design going into my reservation, but did enjoy getting to try many different menu items. My group had the meatballs, radiatori vodka, fusilli pesto, ziti, garlic bread, and chicken parm. The chicken parm was also very flavorful and the largest plate of food we received. As for the garlic bread, it's oddly served on seeded bread and came out a bit stale tasting and the ziti could have used more sauce to meet my personal preference. As for service, we had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our sever went over the "small plate" design and recommended 2-3 plates per person. My group of 5 ended up only ordering 7 plates and all had plenty of food. Personally, it felt this idea to order 2-3 plates was a bit too highly encouraged and nearly felt pushed upon on us in a not so positive way. In fact, we had the unfortunate experience of having our waitress talk about us with another worker and motion toward us in a negative way because we had only ordered 7 plates, as if that could not possibly be enough. In my opinion, the food was truly delicious but I just didn't appreciate being judged for not ordering the "ideal amount." As for ambiance, the restaurant is very cute and consistently had a crowd. They are pretty strict on their 2 hour only policy as I noticed signs posted but they bring out your food pretty quickly so it wasn't a problem for us. read more

The inside of the restaurant is so cozy- the vibe is amazing. Our server, Alex G. was amazing! I also love how you order everything all at once and it comes out perfectly timed. You HAVE to get the potato croquettes. I am still dreaming about them. Every dish was amazing, the arancini, the shrimp limone pasta, and especially the radiatori vodka. Only got one picture because after this I was too busy eating! I honestly could have skipped everything else and just gotten 5 orders of the gluten free pasta with vodka sauce. The vodka sauce is their most popular item and there is good reason. It was luscious and creamy with a small kick. We also tried the polenta bolognese (just fine), chicken parm (great), crispy garlic potatoes (a little over crisp but the aioli was delicious) and these chickpea puffs (needed more whipped ricotta). Everything else was only fine in comparison to the star of the show. Cool atmosphere. Everything is served tapas style so it comes out as it's ready and you share plates. Pelato is a must-try restaurant in Nashville!!! Truly one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. I got the Lambrusco 75, potato croquettes, zucchini fries, meatballs, and vodka pasta which was great for 2 people. You really can't go wrong with anything you order here. Pelatos Nashville location never disappoints!! I want to personally mention Liam, the manager, who was so gracious to squeeze us in on a busy saturday night. The place was lively, and always reminds me of home (nyc) the food was spectacular, easily my fave caccio e pepe in town. Their new sprits is delightful and perfect for the spring. Yeah the food was pretty good!! Idk if I would consider it authentic but maybe definitely just American Italian. I think it's from New York but it had a twang to it? The frozen espresso martini was so good. Can't go wrong there. The other drinks were fine my friends say. I don't know if our server was having a bad day or not but he was a bit sassy and rude about us not being ready to order the second we sat down but either way at the end we were the last ones in the restaurant because they didn't bring out all our dishes so we were just waiting awkwardly for our last dish but our server didn't check in on us so it just kinda looked like we were sitting around. They finally brought it out but they had clearly forgotten. It's really freakin loud inside too so be prepared to use your outside voices to be able to hear your friend two feet from you. read more
