My very first review ever and it ain't a positive one. I have been shopping at Zara ever since it opened and have always had an ok experience until a few days ago. I bought a bag back in August and never used it. Finally found the receipt so I decided to return it. Of course, I read the fine print on the back of the receipt to make sure that I am still able to before I make an ASS out of myself. It clearly stated...returns after 30 days with a receipt will be refunded with a merchandise credit. I go up to the counter and inform the sales associate I want to make a return. I hand her the receipt she looks at it and says I can't except it because it past 30 days. I was like really? And I'm like... uh, I read that I could get a store credit. I'm looking in my bag for my eyeglasses so that I can read her what it states on the back of receipt and all she kept saying was I'm calling my manager. Manager comes over, looks at the receipt and gives the sales associate who clearly does not know the store return policy a nod/small talk, a few punch of the buttons on the register and VOILÀ I guess I'm getting a merchandise credit after all. I understand the mall and stores have adjusted hours. Zara hours are 12-5, I walk up to the door at 4:15 today, and door person says they let the last few people in for the day, I am welcomed to shop at Zara.com. Fine I get it. What I don't get is I walk by at 4:40 and see 2 people walk in, door person let them in! I walk towards the door and she shuts it in my face! Wow! Do they take their last customers at 4:15 or 4:40? Don't ever do a ship to store order here, when they lose your order no one knows how to refund you. Online orders says it's the stores problem, and store says it's the online supports problem. They want you to be the middle man between the store and online customer services, and customer support isn't open to address Hawaii customer issues during HST. I'm so glad that there's a Zara finally here in Hawai'i! This is definitely my go-to store! I personally like shopping at smaller boutiques, but I love the clothes at Zara (especially the jackets and blazers). I'm currently a college student and now that I'm growing up to be an adult, it's been tough trying to buy clothes that are work appropriate AND stylish as well. And if I may also add, buying clothes for work certainly isn't cheap (such as Banana Republic, Express, etc). There are clothes at Zara that are a little on the pricey side, but there's also a ton of deals with tops less than $10. The employees are helpful but for me, personally, I usually don't like to be bothered as much when I shop whereas other customers need more assistance. read more

The cashier Mark in particular was absolutely unprofessional, he had 1.5 hours left into his shift and let me tell you he showed me how he hates his job. All I wanted was for him hold my full price item for an hour and he gave looks like I was being nuisance to him. He didnt asked for any of my information for the items and told me "im done!" Ever since Zara opened at Ala Moana, my entire closet now only consists of Zara attire. Their material is great at an affordable price! The customer service is top notch when they are not flooded with customers (I had to wait 5 minutes just to get someone's attention in the fitting room), but they try their best to do what they can with their staff. Before this horrible experience, I had shopped at Zara and online multiple times in the past. As my family and I were exiting the store (with my baby in the stroller), the sensor beeped. The only bag I had was my baby's diaper bag and the associate asked rudely to look inside the diaper bag. I was in shock and felt discriminated against that she wanted to see my personal item and for that it was even a baby bag?!! And so I did opened my baby bag (and NO MERCHANDISE found. Ha!) I have never felt so violated in my entire life until that moment. I asked if it's their store policy and the associate did not reply, instead she called her manager LIKO to answer for her. She did not even gave me her name when I asked for it as she didn't have a name tag on. VERY, VERY, VERY BAD SERVICE!!! Terrible customer service that I've received about my return. One of store associates was asking me why did I order it online and then return it to the store。I told her the size is wrong. She looked down at me and then turned her back talking to her co-worker with a rude face，and then both of them laughing at me～ OMG！！！（She didn't say hi for any greetings when she helped me at the cashier check out and also no thank you whatsoever!!!） This has happened to me twice already & its the same associate who helped me again this 2nd time (she is the one that wears big glasses with a pony tale hair). I don't know what's wrong with returning the item that isn't the right size!!! Why is she so rude to help me with my returned item??? I've had such a bad experience twice already。OMG!!! I'm not used to write reviews, but I had quiet a few incidents with Zara since they opened in Honolulu and I feel they don't deserve any loyalty. I went with a friend to the store yesterday, to return some items I bought for a trip to Europe. The first item I tried to use was a maxi skirt that the quality of the fabric was horrible and got my nails all black from the ink of the imitation leather...pretty bad! So since I bought a jacket in a similar fabric, I decided not to use and keep it on the side to return when I got back home. Another maxi skirt I bought was killing me on the waist, super tight elastic, so at that point I just decided to return the four items. So two days ago I went to the store to return and this was my experience: I arrived with a friend who....she finished her Starbucks coffee and headed to the cashier to ask to please put the paper cup in the trash...This oriental girl, the sales person, tell her to walk outside saying there were trash cans outside the store, around the mall. WOW, thank you very much for being so kind! Then comes my turn to go to cashier and return my items...bad luck, same "friendly oriental girl" is there to help me. NO, sorry, if the tags are not attached to the clothes, we don't accept returns even with the receipt on hand. Called the manager and she also backed her up saying the same thing. So I explained the situation about the fabric getting my nails all black and the reason I didn't have the tags, since I took them off while packing for my trip, etc...(only one of the pcs had it attached because I forgot to take it off). Anyway, nope, she didn't let me do it, except the one with the tag. Not to mention she didn't give a damn about the problem I had with the fabric staining all my nails...kind of acting like she did not believe em at all. Or I don't care, whatever! So as I turn around, she starts fully laughing with another sale person, and my friend pointed it to me...I was shocked, so I got back there and asked if there was any problem...they said no, they were laughing about something else...sure! I got home and found the tag from the jacket, and returned to the store today to return it. I thought that maybe I could luckily see someone else working who could be less rude and professional. I get to the cashier and nobody is there...(I turned around and see the same oriental girl telling her friend I was there, with the same attitude and unhappy face from the day before). Luckily a man arrives and helps me in a very professional matter, and got the return jacket without saying a word. But I wasn't satisfied, could not take that girl's attitude. So I walked to her and kindly asked her name, but she refused to give me her name and asked me if I wanted to talk to a manager. I said yes. Manager called Casey arrives and confirms the employees don't need to give her names if they don't want to...WHAT? Is this real? And reinforced saying she didn't have to give her name either if she didn't want to. Unbelievable stores with this kind of customer service are still in business...crazy! SUPER RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL SALES PPL. hope this girl finds a better way in life to make herself happier...certainly her job is not helping. I feel sorry for Zara. I bought a bohemian kimono last year that completely felt apart on the side seams...but I was like: Ok, it can happen...But now this? I had to write a review, too much! Bad ending to an amazing experience. Got to the men's floor and found a ton of things I liked. Skinny Asian girl with glasses was nice and helpful. Main girl at the fitting room was helpful as well. Best experience of the night had to go to the stocky white dude that helped me find a pair of skinny jeans. Even when his manager said they didn't have the style I wanted he went out of his way to check the stock room. Thanks for the great service. So what ruined my night was my wait time to pay. They only had one guy on the men's floor ringing up customers. Two people in front of me took about 5min each. I was kinda in a rush to pay and leave so I could shop around the mall before they closed at 10pm. However when it came my turn to pay my total was $83.66. Gave the guy $90.66. The guy gives me my receipt with no change. I asked him for my change which he said "no you paid exact". I then informed him that I had given him a $50, two $20s and .66 cents. He calls for one manager that took forever to come and once she got there she disappeared as soon as she arrived. The second girl was doing something but her code didn't work. Another girl came to assist with no luck and they both left. Finally some guy comes and him and the cashier are just talking nonsense. In the end my friend was annoyed and had to tell them both that all I need is my $7 change. They finally popped the register open and gave me my change. Total time wasted 23min which I timed. Two people behind me ended up putting their items back and left because they didn't want to wait. By the time I got out I only had 5min to look around the mall. In the end it was a waist of my time to spend in one store. Some advise, * Have someone jump on reg if there are more than 3 customers in line. * Train the managers so they know how to execute a problem. read more

As many people have stated, horrible customer service. I have been shopping here since they have opened and have never met one pleasant worker. Its almost if their workers are told to have a snobby/sassy/"i'm better than you" attitude when they interact with customers. I have always just accepted and overlooked the poor customer service because the store itself has cute clothes at an affordable price. However, I recently had a terrible experience. For starters, the Zara exchange policy is one of the worst exchange policies out there. I was returning a good amount of items that were one day past their 30 day exchange policy. Ok, yes, I understand that there is a 30 day policy for money back. But the policy on the receipt also says store credit is available for returns after 30 days. When I asked about this, the worker was very rude and started speaking very loudly to me that they won't accept it. I tried to stay calm and again ask if store credit would be available (in accordance to their return policy and showed her the receipt) but she kept rolling her eyes, and telling me that I was past the 30 days. Her tone was very condescending. Eventually she got a manager who also spoke in a very loud condescending tone to me and said that they would give me the store credit but made it sound like they were giving me a huge exception and it was a huge inconvenience to them. All of the items I returned were still on the shelves so it was not like I was returning thing "out of season." While I was glad to get store credit, I left the store almost in tears because of how bad they made me feel. They kept repeating to me that I was past for 30 days and I felt like I was getting in trouble from a parent. Now after reading other people's reviews about them not accepting store credit, I'm worried what my happen on my next shopping experience there. As much as I would to stop shopping there, I do feel the need to at least use up my store credit. read more

This incident happened on Sunday, December 27, 2015. I was looking forward to actually being able to shop in a Zara store and not have to shop online. My shopping experience started out okay....it wasn't until I was paying for my purchase and that's when the problems started. I saw a backpack on sale that I liked on their website and luckily found it in the store, on sale too. Went to the register to pay and at the end of the transaction, the cashier told me that their system to deactivate their sensors wasn't working so she needed to walk me out of the store, wave my purchase through the door sensor alarm system and it would be good. I found this odd, but as we were walking towards the door, I made it a point to ask her if I go into another store that has a sensor alarm system, will the alarm go off? She replied that it wouldn't. As we got close to the door, she waved my shopping bag through the door sensors, it went off, but I took my shopping bag from her and went on my way. The next store I went into was Forever 21, and low and behold, as soon as I walked in, their sensor alarm system went off. At this point, I instantly became irritated because I specifically asked her about this. I exited the store, their alarm system went off again and I proceeded to call Zara to let them know what happened, and what they intend to do about this being that I was not going to keep the sensor in the backpack to have it go off each time I walked into a store that had a sensor alarm system and also being that it was the Zara cashier's fault this was happening. After about 15 rings, a gentleman FINALLY answered the phone. I explained the situation to him, which he apologized for, but said that he would need to check with the manager about removing the sensor. When I was explaining the situation to him, he found it odd that the cashier was not able to deactivate the sensor initially, but I found it odd as to why he would need to speak to his manager about deactivating a sensor. After waiting about 10 minutes, the gentleman returned my call and said that I could go back to the store and a cashier would deactivate the sensor. I walked in, went to the cashier (a different one from the one that processed my purchase), explained the situation to her, and she immediately deactivated the sensor. The cashier that processed my purchase was still there and she looked at me, smiled, and didn't say anything....not even asked why I was back or sorry (and she can't say that she doesn't remember me being that this all took place within a 15-minute span). Now why is it that if the cashier who processed my purchase could not deactivate the sensor at her station, that she could not take the backpack to another station and deactivate it....the things that make you go HMMMM. I'm sure most people don't like when a store sensor alarm system goes off....especially when they are exiting a store because it's a natural reaction to look at the door to see who is walking out and it's embarrassing. Dying! I was in the kids section earlier today freaking out over how adorable the clothes are. For myself and my son! I'm so glad that their sizes run big and my little self can fit the stylish children's clothing LOL. I have zero shame in admitting that since the clothes here are so nice. I was worried about our upcoming trip to Denver and wasn't sure where I'd find winter clothes for my 2yr old! Zara has so many beautiful winter coats, pants/boots as well as amazing dress clothes for kids. I can't wait to see what the next season will bring. I wish they had more size selections though. I shopped at Zara on 1/14/19. I went there a little late around 8:30pm. I bought some clothes and got out of the store because the store closed at 9 pm. I did not have chance to check my receipt. When I went home I found that they charged me $55.99 for a bag but I did not buy or even see the bag. In the next early morning, I came to report to them immediately.The manager checked and confirmed me that their bag stocks were still in the store. It means they made mistake to charge money. Surprisingly, they did not return my money, they asked me to contact customer service by myself to get back my money (horrible service).I attempted many times to contact customer service in two months. The worst customer service in the USA. Finally, they told me that they could not find reference number so they did not return my money. I can not believe why a big and well known company like ZARA is horrible and terrible. They steal customer money from that way. I told my friends they should not to shop there. read more

Today I walked through the store with my 20 month old son and didn't touch a single piece of merchandise. I left the store and the sensor beeped. It also beeped as I walked in. But I was not stopped then. I was half way to Nordstrom when I gal stopped me and said I need to return to the store because I may have taken something. I was LIVID. Never in my life have I been accused of taking something not paid for. Secondly the way she approached me accusing me without any proof of "taking something" I returned to the store and the manager first off didn't so apologize until I asked him if it was normal that the associates accuse people of "taking things" in the end I dumped out my entire purse on to the floor. Opened up my sons milk bag along. Prior to that the girl was standing there listening in the the manager talking to me. I told her she needs to leave. In the end NO I didn't steal anything nor did my 20 month old son. Never ever shoping there again!!!! There is a professional way to "check sensors" or if they left a sensor on a item- but kind of hard when you didn't purchase or steal anything. Note- I wasn't greeted by anyone or helped while browsing. So how would anyone accuse one of stealing?!? I also asked for name of manager and sales girl to file complaint but store manager refused to give me names. Sad. read more

I love Zara! Once I heard that they were opening one in Hawaii I literally jumped with excitement. Love their clothing and shoes. They always have good sales going on and their clothing does last a while. The only down side about this Zara is their workers. No one greets you, no one will ask if you need help and even if they do I feel like they're just forced to ask, but not really want to give their assistance and this happened multiple times I've been in the store. Another experience today was while I was waiting in line to get in the dressing room. The workers were just talking away not greeting anyone in line or at least notifying them that they'll be right with you. I had to grab their attention to get in a fitting room. Then when I got done, I heard a guy worker talk on his earpiece and said "if you guys see someone with a wet crotch, kick them out the store because they peed in our fitting room!" I visited zara store in Hawaii at Alamona mall last month to return a gift shirt with the tag attached no receipt. They told me I canot return or exchange, talked to a young lady manager , agreed to exchange with equal value item, I couldn't find equal value item, I requested to change it to lesser value no need to give me the difference, said no. Ok higher value so I can pay the difference, she sad no , it has to be exat value, so I have to leave, the sales lady and manager start laughing as soon I turn my back. Came here to buy clothes for my daughter. Horrible lines we waited for 10 mins to pay, once we finally got to the cashier the system had to reboot and that was another 10 more minutes. But the cherry on top was that the second we step off the store my daughter wanted to wear her new shoes and the strap just came off. I should see the cup half full as better to happen then that at home ......had to wait an additional 10 minutes to return the bad shoes. read more

Still lots of love for the richness of fabric, cuts, and on-point fashion trends, but... The styling of the mannequins in this store is awful. Zara pieces often are structurally and texturally unique or unusual--with funky cuts, unusual fabric mixes, or innovative/playful pattern structures more typical of Europe than America. So yes, the pieces might be hard to put together with others in the store. Still, one'd think there'd be an actual, professional, window dresser/mannequin stylist, on hand. The in-store edits looked so uninspiring and ugly that (I daresay) even a fashion-dumb, regular girl such as I, could have done better. Maybe. My cuz and I went through the whole store and spent 2 hours critiquing the mannequins, after we enjoyed examining almost all of the individual pieces separately. Went to Zara for the first time today during my lunch break. I didn't even realize they were there and have been open for a month already. They have really cute fashionable clothes. The store reminds me of H&M. They have good quality fabrics. The sizes differ from each clothing. The cashier guy was pretty friendly and the ladies at the dressing room were pretty friendly too. Their customer service was awesome . They do have tons of employees walking around on the floor. Which I don't mind, but they could be a little bit more personal with you. Maybe a little "hi are you doing okay? Let me know if you need anything" But they don't bother you which is a huge plus. Overall, I would definitely go back to Zara. I love their clothes! Let's just hope that the place doesn't turn into a forever 21 and have clothes scattered all over the place once people know the store exist. read more

I bought 5 plain white t-shirts here larger than needed because I expected them to shrink when I dried them. They shrunk a solid 4 inches and 3 sizes. When I brought them in to exchange, they agreed in principle that it shouldn't have happened but only exchanged 1 shirt because the other 4 had the long removable tags, removed. Poor customer service for a new store in a new market on an island is not a recipe for success. read more

So I was at Zara Ala Mona in Honolulu, HI today to make a return/exchange on a gift I got for Christmas. I went to the cash register in the mens floor where I think a cashier name Emmett helped me. He asks if I had a receipt and I told him I wanted to exchange some stuff and I have a copy of the e-ticket on my phone from the person that gave me the gift. The total return was supposed to be $62.49 and I was going to exchange it for the items that I picked up and was just going to pay a little more since I estimated my total was over $100. The cashier scans the E-Ticket and I don't know what he pressed but it automatically returned the transaction to the original buyers card. Cashier is starting to freak out because he didn't know what to do next and called for the Manager. Patrick Brown who said he was the Men's Department Manager came out and assessed the situation. He then tells me that because it was the e-ticket that he scanned and not the gift receipt the POS automatically returned the credit back to the card owner. I was like ok, but I had an exchange and wanted to purchase some other stuffs so why wasn't it processed as an exchange and not as a return? Patrick makes up some lane ass excuse that because that's how "Internet Sales" is processed that they would have to press something else on the POS abd I should have had th gift receipt scanned and not the E-Ticket. We didn't know or noticed that there was a gift receipt in the box but nonetheless I just wanted to exchange and I had an e-ticket so it shouldn't matter. Patrick then tells me that they have a very strict return policy and there was nothing else he can do and that " I should contact the person who gave me the gift and have them give me the money or send me a gift card". At this point I was dumbfounded by this Manager and I'm pissed because he thinks I'm stupid and tries to tell me if I showed the gift receipt instead of the e-ticket then I could've returned the item and exchange it for the items that I wanted to purchased. I told him "you expect me to call the person who give me the gift to give me the money back" because your cashier returned the whole transaction instead of exchanging it with the items that I wanted to buy?" and he said "Yes, unfortunately he couldn't do anything else. I've worked in retail from when I was 16 and he thinks I'm stupid? I've never heard of such policy or told to do that by anybody who is exchanging a gift. He then tells me that the cashier did the correct procedure and if I'd shown the gift receipt and not the e-ticket then I wouldn't have had any problems. I almost flipped and I told him "so you are saying that anybody who returns/exchanges" they would have to call the person who gave them the gift because it was creited back to their card and h me said "YES, unfortunately that's how our POS system is set up and to take it up with Customer Service. He gives me a business card and writes a number 888-501-2708 which I tried to call and I told him was close right now and what can he do to fix the situation?" Patrick then says "yes, they are close because corporste is on EST and is in New York and that to call then tomorrow morning because they also don't have any support until corporate opens again". At this point I can feel the back of my nape and blood pressure rising because this manager is an idiot. I asked him if maybe he can void the transaction bit he said he can't because POS doesn't allow them to do that. I've never in my entire life as a shopper and as a worker encountered such problem. All I wanted to do was return and exchange my stuff and purchase the things I picked out but because your "POS and policy" doesnt allow you to do anything, he can't do nothing about the transaction that they just did. I just wadted 2hrs of my life deiving to the store and looking around to leave everything and walk out because the manager is unreasonable and I don't think knows the policy and procedure of the store and was pulling bullshit out of his ass. How embarassing it is to call the person wgo gave me the gift to send me money or give me a gidt card because the idiots who worked at Zara returned the whole transaction back to their card and couldn't do nothing abou the transaction or come up with another way to make up their mistake and try to make it look like it was mines because I showed the e-ticket from the original receipt that says "Use this for return and exchanges instore or online" and not the gift recipt. Patrick Brown the Men's Department manager kept to his words and said he can't do anything about it and talk to Customer Service or call the person who gave me the gift and have them give it to me back. What a great manager you guys have! I love Zara, so when I heard a location was finally coming to HI I was so excited. I don't, however, like the management or staff at this location. My closet is almost entirely Zara, but I recently bought a pair of pants that ended up being made of cheap fabric and though the manager did offer an exchange, per my request (for 1/2 the value I paid for them) she was very condescending about it. I've been to Zara handful of time the service here r good except the catchier specially today! Came return n exchange the guys was faceless meaning no smile no nothing.. kept on scanning the barcode almost he hate people coming back for returning... when I about to walk out he turns he's back mediately n talking to other employees or managers I think.
