I was pleasantly surprised that they showed up on time and promptly went to work. They asked about how to wrap my furniture and quickly wrapped and loaded the few pieces and we were able to get out quickly from my rental. No upswells; no any other concerns when I've booked others or had pick up day laborers. I RECOMMEND GOING ELSEWHERE! My partner and I chose Zapt movers to assist us in our move from San Jose to San Diego because of their competitive pricing and positive online reviews. BIG MISTAKE. It has caused us more stress, grief and headaches. Here are the cons: 1. Language barrier between us and the movers. Although the movers appeared to be supportive, communication was very unclear making the process difficult for us. 2. Items are delivered next day at a random time. We were told that our items would be shipped some time during next day, well they got there at 8am the next day and we were still driving from San Jose. We would have appreciated a window frame (for example: 9-11am) so that we could plan accordingly. They delivered it before regular business hours and avoided giving a window frame like most reputable business would do for their customers. 3. Missing/stolen items. Zapt movers had initially emailed us pictures once the delivery was completed. However, upon seeing the photos we asked the owner, Fabio, to communicate to the movers that we would like a few items such as the rugs and boxes to be rearranged to our liking. Within one hour we received a new set of photos with the items rearranged, however, this time with two large plastic containers filled with luxury items and holiday items missing. These items where no where to be found in our new home. 4. Poor customer service. When we reported our missing items, Fabio avoided any and all accountability. We asked to file a claim which Fabio responded to by saying "I'll talk to my workers" and has since avoided all our emails and attempts at resolving this issue. I truly believe he is solely concerned with making a financial profit and he does not actually care about his customers or their experiences. He has not apologized or tried to make it better whatsoever. We have reported his practice to Better Business Bureau, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and Bureau of Household Goods and Services. Personally, the Yelp reviews have been misleading for us. While it's quite possible that certain individuals have had a positive experience, I am skeptical about the number of positive reviews. I genuinely believe many of the accounts could be fake or get paid to support ratings. Our experiences have been quite the opposite of positive and I'd say we are optimistic people. The negative reviews have been spot on with their claims. It's definitely not a company we would recommend a friend to or hire again because of the above mentioned reasons. Customer support is everything and this place is lacking. I would save your money, time and dignity and go elsewhere. Edit: It's been 3 weeks later, still not a single resolution from the company. The Zapt team did a great job with my move (1 bedroom apt, San Jose to San Diego) and made my move extremely smooth. They arrived promptly on time, were very nice, and packed up my belongings making sure to properly wrap and protect furniture and unboxed items. I've never had the "luxury" of hiring a professional moving company. But, their prices were even better than competitive and less than my doing it myself renting a truck & hiring two crews. Starting with my request for a quote, the employees of Zapt were very communicative and responsive, and made expectations, time frames, and rates very clear. Great moving experience! 4 guys showed up on loading day as promised. We had packed all boxes over 70. They loaded truck in 2 1/2 hours all 3 bedrooms, large dining room,living room and refrigerator. After 500 plus miles the next day at 8:30 am they are ready to unload at our new home. Our new home was a 1700 sq ft mobile home they placed all furniture in proper location. They would have been done in less than 2 hours except they had hard time with oversized refrigerator they had to remove door to home and refrigerator but they got it done. I've moved a few times in my 52 years. We were moving from San Francisco to Sacramento. They quoted us a reasonable price with the data we provided them. They didn't need to come to the home (at the time I felt strange about this, but they had good reviews). Packing day comes, Zapt spent 3 hours packing and boxing all our stuff in the home (1100 sqft) and let us know they would begin loading the next day at 8am. Zapt promptly showed up at 8am in a driving rain storm and started loading immediately. I for sure thought "this is gonna be an expensive day" and it was done in 7 hours. Pretty awesome guys. I would most thoroughly recommend Zapt Movers -- they are fast, efficient and don't waste theirs or my time. Nor do they upsell anything during the move. There were no "oh you need to have this kind of blanket and it's $10 more.." or bubble wrap costs $25 or whatever. Do not hire this company. Fabio (the owner of the company) is the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. The day of my move, the movers arrived on time but when we started talking to each other, I realized they couldn't understand me. I asked them if they understood English and both movers confirmed they did not. I then asked if there was any way they could ask another mover to come help so that they could translate and they told me they could not understand me. Considering that this was a long two-day move, I was distraught. The movers were trying to speak to me in Spanish (and although I am Mexican I could not understand them). I would try to speak with them in English to give basic commands (such as: please do not take the clothes hanging on the mirror), but they would tell me that they could not understand me. I also asked the movers to start on the kitchen first then do the living room and to save my closet and bathroom for last. But they did not understand me and started with the closet and bathroom so I stopped them and called the customer service line. I let the rep know that this was a huge issue because we simply could not understand each other. I also asked why they hadn't told me that their movers only spoke Spanish because I would have brought a translator, but she ignored this and advised she would call me back in a few minutes. I waited but she never called back so I was forced to call again. This time, Fabio answered and he tried to convince me that no other customer has ever had a problem with the movers being unable to understand English and advised he would translate. I asked if there were any other movers who spoke English and Fabio said it was only these two men who were available. I then asked if we could reschedule for another time with the movers who did understand English when they were available. Fabio scoffed and told me it was these movers or we could cancel. Why he didn't try to work with the idea of rescheduling is beyond me, but he didn't offer that option. With no other choice, I agreed to cancel and Fabio then advised me he would charge  $800 for the gas and 3 hours of service even though they had only driven from one part of SF to another. So of course with this threat, I had no other choice but to continue with the move. I asked Fabio to tell the movers to not take the clothes or shoes in front of the mirror and he spoke with them in Spanish. I am not sure what he said, because a few minutes later the movers went to the mirror and started packing the exact shoes and clothes I did not want packed. I asked the mover to stop packing those and he aggressively dumped my things on the floor and went to pack something else. Then I realized the movers had packed all of the boxes without labeling them so I showed them the marker and asked if they could label the boxes. Again, the movers told me they could not understand me. So I tried to call customer service but no one picked up. Then they started loading the truck in the middle of packing (one mover was packing and now the other was loading the unlabeled boxes) and I asked if they left the door to the truck open and they ignored me (probably because they couldn't understand me). So I followed the mover down to the truck and when I realized they had left the door to the truck open, I asked them to please close and lock it because I was worried someone would steal the boxes ... As SF is notorious for cars being robbed. The mover was confused and I asked if he could call his boss to translate since no one picked up for me. He said, "No ... Why?" And I tried to explain that I felt nervous the boxes would get stolen. To me, this is common sense. He refused and because of the language barrier the convo ended. So I called the mainline again and Fabio picked up. I tried explaining that this was not working and Fabio kept saying things like "JESUS" "CALM DOWN" and "OH MY GOD" instead of coming to a solution with me. He belittled me every time I asked for help. So with no other choice and since I could not cancel the service without being unfairly charged and also could not speak with any of the reps without the call dropping, going unanswered, or having to deal with Fabio's unprofessionalism, I was forced to call my mother who speaks Spanish to translate for me. Why was this an issue for me? Because my mother has stage three colon cancer and stage one uterine cancer and just had major surgery. In fact, while we are on the subject of my mother, the entire reason I am moving from NorCal back to SoCal is so I can help take care of her while she is undergoing chemotherapy. Hence why this was so important to get right. But because Fabio thinks it's a practical business strategy to be the translator for every transaction and then decides to belittle his customers, gaslight them, threaten to charge them for gas not used, and also NOT pick up the phone my mom had to do his job for him.
