I happen to file a complaint against the movers who moved my family because many of our items were missing. They also opened a box and a canister that was already sealed. I filed a complaint and spoken with manager and emailed the general manager who entrusted their workers and refused to take a deeper look into this investigation. During the move, instead of coming directly to our location, the movers made a stop first; stating they were going to take a break. I asked the managers to check their gps location for proof and they refused. My family tipped each of the 3 movers in cash additionally and bought them food as a thank you. This was done before we found out some of our items never arrived. As of recent, they have ignored further communication from me. Half service deserves half payment. read more

I've used ML Movers twice previously 10 years ago and had a flawless experience with them. So I expected everything to be smooth when I used them for a third time. The movers showed up on time, they were courteous and they were efficient in packing everything. So I will give them 1 extra star for that. But that's where the positive aspect ends. When everything was brought over to our new place, I noticed some scratches on the corners of our bed as well on a expensive glass table top (See photos). I noted this to one of the team members, Juan and he told me to email the owner Miguel, which I promptly did. Then our real troubles began. Miguel emailed back and said he'd look into the paperwork but that's the last I heard from him. I called him up three times subsequently over the next month and he said he'd look into it but no reply. The third time, he rudely told me not to call again and said he'd email by tomorrow and hung up. Of course, no email. I have always been professional in my interactions, never rude or threatening. Miguel has totally dropped the ball and is ignoring repeated calls and emails. Shocking lack of customer service for a repeat client trying honestly to resolve damage which they caused. Damage to my furniture and goods. Damage to my home. And yes, it is my own fault for feeling pressured to sign the paperwork after a 6hr move that I did not inspect all the items moved from my 2bdrm home. I tried to file an insurance claim with Miguel after I found broken furniture pieces hidden in the garage. He told me that I signed the paperwork so it's my own fault. He's right, but he could have been nicer about it since I was a referred customer who could have referred others. My walls and ceilings were damaged and dirtied. My boxes actually marked with FRAGILE stickers and labeled neatly were thrown about and placed at the bottom of piles of boxes. My furniture had obviously been taped, but not covered and thrown into a dirty truck. I paid in cash and was told by the laborers that he was not aware of the cash discount - and per Miguel's contractual guidance, I did not challenge him and tried to take it up with Miguel. It is now Oct 27 (I moved on Sept 10) and I am still waiting for resolution. Needless to say, I do NOT recommend this moving company. Which is a shame considering he came highly recommended by two other people at work. I don't want to damage Miguel's business, but I sincerely hope that he changes his business practices and thinks about customer retention and referrals before he acts (or doesn't act). AVOID AVOID AVOID !!! Do yourself a BIG favor. Sort the Yelp reviews "Newest First" and look at all the 1 STAR reviews recently. I have used ML Movers 3 times since 2012. The first 2 times went perfect. The 3rd move they did for me Jan 2018 was a COMPLETE DISASTER. The lies, denials and lack of responses from the owner (Miguel) added salt to the injury also, and really show the true colors of what this person is. Looking at the recent 1 star reviews for ML Movers, I guess they must have changed ownership between my 2nd and 3rd move. Sigh, I guess one should always check the latest ratings. Here is the story of the disastrous move they did for me in Jan 2018. - They dragged heavy pieces of furniture across the hardwood floors, resulting in deep scratches across 15 wood planks in two different rooms. - They destroyed one coffee table completely, and have dings & scratches on a few other pieces. - One of their movers actually alerted me of the damage, and asked me to call the owner Miguel. Miguel asked me to take pictures of the damages and email him, which I did. I told Miguel I needed to hand the house to the new owner and the repair is very time sensitive, he gave instructions via email to go ahead with the repair and send him the bill. I was careful to obtain a quote of the repair, from the people who installed the new floor 3 years ago, which are known to be reputable and reasonable in cost. I emailed Miguel the quote (the total bill was $1600+), and he completely stopped responding to emails and phone calls. I have insurance coverage myself, and Miguel claimed to have insurance also. I don't mind claiming insurance on my side and even suggested to him that we can work out the numbers between us, but he just totally stopped responding. - While I did flat rating moving before with them, this time I felt like I know them and opted to pay for the move on a hourly basis - basically 5 movers charged on a per hour basis. I think this was the start of the problem. They really took and DRAG OUT the time to "wrap and protect" the furniture. The same pieces of furniture that they moved for me twice in the past, where they never had to take apart, this time they took the time to literally take apart even small pieces of furniture like coffee table, and then wrap them in individual pieces. Ironically, the 2x/3x extra time they took to "wrap and protect" ended up still not complete. Corners of heavy pieces were still exposed and then they dragged those pieces across the floor and causing VERY deep scratches extensively across the floors. - The scary thing also is the negligence they show in putting the pieces back together. For example, they broke down my Ikea bookcases into two, and when they put them back together, they were using only HALF the screws. When I complained, they took yet longer time to look for the screws in the truck and couldn't find all of them. I have still two Ikea book cases sitting in my house that is not fully secured at this point. I guess they were counting on the owners not noticing. - Since the owner Miguel is a complete dead beat and won't even return phone calls and emails, I filed dispute via Visa card. Unfortunately, Miguel supplied them with a copy of the contract that I signed BEFORE the move, and the Visa people of course never look beyond the details and just decided to pay the balance based on that. But in fact, the (very very long) contract Miguel makes you sign is really just a hiring contract. I made specific notes on the end-of-day sign-off sheet documenting the damages but it was completely ignored by Visa. May be that's why ML makes you sign this ridiculously long contract when you hire them. In any case, thank you to my own insurance company for stepping up and covering the damage. - Note that federal law requires moving company to have insurance coverage for damages. Miguel told me they have insurance. But I guess that's a lie too since they completely bailed once they saw the bill. So again, PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a big favor and AVOID this dead beat of an owner / company. read more

In summary: I do not recommend ML Movers. There are a lot of options for professional movers out there (so keep looking). The good: I have had two positive experiences with ML movers. The movers were on time, experienced and fast! I have also recommended them to several others, all of which had positive experiences that deserve raving reviews. The bad: I have never worked so hard to move before. On my last move the team showed up 5 minutes late with a tiny 10 foot truck, took a look around our home and determined they didn't have time to do the move. They then called their boss and asked us to talk to the business owner on the phone. We asked them to please proceed with the move because we had packed all of our belongings and paid for city parking permits to accommodate the moving truck (what's the problem? I still don't know). We were ready. The team didn't wrap a single piece of furniture. They used brown packing tape to tape our glass tables that we still can't get off. The move lasted twice as long as our other moves and to save time, my partner and I helped lift and haul the whole morning. When the team was done, they asked us to pay for the half hour of time they spent on the phone with their boss (no way!). The business owner then told me I have been "whining too much." Please note before reading that we had ML Movers pack most of our boxes for us - huge no-no! My boyfriend and I had a great experience with these movers for a previous move, so we decided to use them again in December 2014. We thought we had another successful move, until we started unpacking all of our boxes at our new place. One by one we started to realize that we couldn't find a number of objects. At first we chalked it up to things that get lost sometimes when you move, but the list started to grow and all the objects just happened to be rather small and valuable. Too big of a coincidence! We were missing an expensive North Face jacket, a North Face backpack, our Apple TV and remote, and our JamBox. We suspected that they were stolen by one of the movers, because where else could they be? You don't just "coincidentally" lose that many items. And they would have all been packed in different boxes, so we didn't just lose 1 boxful of stuff. So we called ML a few weeks after our move, and Jackie let me know that unless we could prove that one of them took the stuff, the insurance company would not move forward with our claim. She said this was because we signed the paperwork at the end of the move agreeing that the truck was empty. Yes, the truck bed appeared empty, but we didn't even consider checking the truck cabin, where our stuff may have been, because we TRUSTED our movers not to take our things. Of course we couldn't PROVE they took our stuff, so we decided to let it go and moved on with our lives. A few weeks ago my bf noticed that he had numerous charges on his Apple account for movies that we never watched. In total, the movie purchases and movie rentals came to around $60, and all of the charges started soon after our move. He called Apple and they confirmed that someone had been using OUR Apple TV to watch all these movies. They refunded him all the charges. But if that isn't proof that our Apple TV was stolen, I don't know what is. We still can't prove that it was one of the movers in particular that took our other stuff, but it is EXTREMELY LIKELY. What makes the whole experience worse is that we gave the movers a number of expensive furniture items that we weren't going to use anymore, but that we could have easily sold. We also gave each of the three movers a tip. We also lent the movers our building key to get in and out, and they failed to return it to us. They later claimed they left the key at our old apartment, but it was nowhere to be found. Who knows what they're going to do with that. I'm sad to say that because of this experience I will never fully trust movers, especially not ML Movers. It's just too easy to steal stuff and there is absolutely no recourse when your stuff does get stolen. I found my guitar (buried beneath our Christmas tree ... good thing I had a hard case on the guitar, otherwise it would have been damaged as well!, but that doesn't change the fact that ML Movers damaged the elliptical machine to the point where now it won't even TURN ON. If Miguel's best response and his company's policy is that electrical items are NOT covered by insurance - then for those who are considering using this service, consider that yet ANOTHER reason why you should avoid their service. Trust me, once they've got your $$ in their hand, you can kiss the "we-love-our-customers-and-will-do-anything-to-satisfy-them" attitude they'll woo you with at the beginning. (By the way, if ML Mover's best reason for not honoring/being honest about the damage they caused is that there is "no way for us to prove that it was working before," they will have a really hard time doing business. And in our case, all they had to do is ask - we have documentation just a few days earlier of us using our elliptical machine showing it in PERFECT condition. Moved to a second floor apartment, and the way they were carefully able to get the biggest items not only into the place but in once piece was a sight to behold (lots of tight corners). Everyone was friendly, professional, and obviously knew what they were doing. They were recommended by a friend, and now I recommend them as well. Everything was very well protected and they were careful moving things into and out of both properties. Like always, they showed up at 8 a.m. exactly, had all the paperwork ready, did a walk through of my house and had my house packed in about and hour and a half. Some people might say they take a while but I think it is because they take such great care in wrapping valuables. In the three times I have used them, nothing has ever been damaged. Also, the workers are very respectful, Whenever I was in need of help to relocate a piece of furniture, they were always willing to help and with a smile.-Even when I changed my mind a few times. Today, they put blankets on my wood floors when I told them my floors were new. I think it's great they were thinking of my happiness. I always recommend them to my friends that need to move and will continue to do so. Another thing that I love is that they always call me after the move and ask me how my experience went and if I had any suggestions for their company. I used ML movers last weekend. We needed movers to wrap our furnitures very well (we have some real wood and heavy furnitures) and put them into the garage for storage. I've checked other moving companies and they go by hourly rate instead of flat rate. I decided to go with ML movers because their online photos showed more layers of wrapping and I don't want to worry about how many hours of work. The movers showed up 5 minuets early with two guys, they were very efficient and no hesitate when I asked them to wrap something. Wow. Just wow. These guys are amazing! Cleaned out our 2br 2ba apartment in an hour and a half and was done with the whole move in 5 hours! The fastest move I've ever had. They had 4 guys and a huge truck. Everything fit in the truck so they only made one trip the entire move. They were professional, courteous and polite- a real pleasure to work with. Do not use these movers. I am due back $300 from a deposit to hold my moving date. I paid in cash, and it was supposed to be automatically refunded. It's over a week since they said it would be and have ignored my calls, texts, and emails. Additionally, during the move there was a scratch that was made on the floor. Overall the move was successful and the movers great, but make sure you check the fine print both in the beginning and end of the move. I give them top marks for scheduling and overall professionalism of the movers, but my major gripe is the way they structure the hourly rates. It does state that credit cards are 5% more within the fine print, but really nothing is actually the rate they state since cash is less and check actually 3% more. I feel I'm not the first to be confused by this so be sure to understand what you use to pay will impact the hourly cost (which is fair, but not clear). Be sure to check the final invoice too. I know you're tired and want to start officially moving in, but I would recommend checking over the materials charges. They use the worlds most expensive wrap and boxes, and quite a few extra boxes made their way into the final total. read more

These guys were great. Showed up a few minutes early and were ready to work. very quick and efficient and open to late requests. I asked them the morning of to stop by a second location to pick up a table and they had no problems. they also brought extra boxes/packing materials and didn't charge me any extra. The move took an hour more than I expected BUT I don't feel they wasted time or took advantage. Just be prepared for it to take time. my one-bedroom took 5 hours with an hour commute between locations. it was a little pricey but imo still worth it. They also worked hard to schedule my move which was very short notice and had to be on a weekend which I assume are their busy days. tldr: a little expensive but worth it as they were very prompt and easy to work with! read more

BEWARE--you have to unwrap and inspect EVERYTHING before they leave! They broke my 42' flat screen TV and they refuse to pay for it because I didn't unwrap it until after they left, and the whole front was shattered. They had to have known they broke it, which is why they left it wrapped. Be very careful with these people! Yes, the TV wasn't in the confirmation, but at the last minute, I decided I wanted it moved, and the moving guys agreed to move it. It's not my fault they didn't tell me not to call the ML office and formally request that it be added to the list. Now they are trying to use that as an excuse. And yes, I didn't unwrap the TV for 15 days because I didn't install the wall mount because I work. Once I installed the wall mount, I unwrapped the TV, and voila! It's broken. This is no customer service, just because I'm busy with work. All they would have to do is call the movers who would verify that they verbally agreed to move it. read more

Please see all ML movers profiles all owned by Miguel First of all I want to mention that we have used ML movers in the past and they did an excellent job. 2 years ago we moved from Redwood City to San Jose and they had 5 people to pack our things and move us. It took from 8-12pm. This time though was a lot different... They had 3 people to move and pack a three room apartment and it took from 8am-10pm. The people that moved us were amazing and worked hard but they simply did not have enough people to move us. The owner may be getting cheap... They charged us 200 more and gave us less people not a good sign that this company is doing well. They forgot things at our old place even though they took 14 hours to move us. We had to go back and forth to the old place a few times to collect everything that was not packed and moved. To add to the problem they left our old place unlocked and didn't return our keys until late the next day. Pictures will follow- we documented everything and hope to get a partial refund. They moved our alcohol which I thought was a no no for the moving companies but it was nice to have. Things were broken pots and planter boxes. Heavy items were stacked on top of fragile electronics and glass items and everything was out of place they packed part of the kitchen with the second bedroom and various other mistakes. It seems like owner spends more time trying to keep his Yelp reviews good than making sure he has satisfied customers. There is not one review with a happy customer because ML Movers took care of damage they did. They damaged my hardwood floors and won't pay or speak to me directly. At end of move I asked where I report damage and they directed me to wrong page. The Monday after move I asked for it to be corrected and they won't. The owner is now telling BBB I never reported damage which is not true. Very unethical it's disgusting. I'm not letting this go because Miguel seems to wear people out till they give up. Fan-freaking-tastic. We were lucky enough to have chosen THE rainiest day to move last month and were thinking that even though we had movers coming, it was going to be a disaster. No worries! Blankets and shrink wrap, check! I've never used professional movers before, and I won't use anyone other than these guys going forward. They showed up and moved quickly, all the while smiling and even making jokes with each other- the rain didn't phase them! The best part was that they didn't even want us to empty drawers or containers- they just wrapped and moved. Deck box? Wrap it up! End tables? Wrap them up! Couch, heavy tv, fragile mirrors and glass? Wrap them up!! It was so easy. Once we got to the new place, they put down blankets so they didn't track in water and then moved everything including a couch we already had downstairs up as we asked- just amazing. Really fair prices, and they have Alphaville's Forever Young on their contact page. Moving, as Cooter says, is very emotional. Both Carla and Elias were exceptional... smart, friendly, helpful, and provided customer service that was sort of surprising.. especially for a moving company. Oh I asked Carla about the song... They did a good job protecting all my valuables. Everything arrived in one piece and without any chips/nicks. I own some expensive furniture and am a pretty particular person, so this was an important attribute that I looked for when I researched moving companies. It's also the reason I chose ML Movers over GoPro. GoPro was more professional with their documentation, communication, and in general seems to have their act together. However it seems based on other Yelp reviews that they don't wrap everything unless you ask them to and they didn't seem as eager for my business as ML did. I deducted one star because I felt that the movers moved pretty slow. It seems like they weren't really motivated to get the job done quickly. Perhaps that was because I was being billed on an hourly rate. Unfortunately the move ran 1.5 hours over budget. My suggestion to future customers would be to go with the flat rate option. I should also mention that the communication with Elias, the Office Manager was very good. read more

I'm typing this review on my iPhone as the movers are currently at work. At first I was a little wary due to their competitive pricing. After all the positive AND recent reviews, I decided to give it a go! I am very impressed with their professionalism. My appointment was at 9:00am and they showed up on time (actually a little early). I gave them a walk around of my two bed two bath condo + storage and they got started immediately. I hired ML Movers for pack and move service. I did this mainly as I don't trust myself with my glass / crystal-ware. They are VERY careful and pay good attention to detail. All furniture was wrapped with protection cloth, taped up, then shrink wrapped tight. I have a large china cabinet that they disassembled. Each cup / plate was individually wrapped (took a long time but everything arrived safely). The workers were delightful and very willing to help. I have so much stuff that they actually sent over 3 more people (from 4 to 7) to help expedite the process. While moving the huge LG laundry machine to the new house, they did damage the wood floor a little - who wouldn't?!? Immediately, Miguel came over to look at the damage. It was small and I'm sure I would have done much worse if I moved it myself. He sent a repair guy over the next day to take care of the floor!!! That's service!
