Moving is already a time-consuming and stressful task, but with an infant, it becomes exponentially more challenging. Because of this, my husband and I knew that hiring a moving company would be non-negotiable. After researching and talking to close friends who used various companies, we decided to confirm with Careful Movers. They are not the cheapest, but they by far exceeded our expectations during our move. Starting with my inquiry, Mat, our Moving Consultant, was quick to respond and very patient in answering all my questions. Securing our moving date and processing our deposit were smooth processes. Leading up to our move date, Shenna called and emailed with reminders for any last-minute tasks and collected information so our moving team knew exactly what we needed on the date. On moving day, we had a crew of 3 movers: Enrique, Ismael, and Jose/Luis. They were punctual and arrived at our apartment right on time to get started on our move. After walking them through our apartment, discussing expectations, and signing the agreement, they went to work. This team was quick, and I mean QUICK, to disassemble and pack the truck. However, this does not mean they were sloppy by any means. Everything from our baby's furniture to our 75-inch TV was packed with the utmost care. Despite the rain, all of our belongings arrived safely at our new rental and were reassembled exactly as we asked. I needed movers and requested quotes on Yelp. While other companies texted, Careful Movers called me the very next day (Sunday!) to discuss the job. The rep was very knowledgeable and both asked excellent questions and provided detailed information. Between the two, I accepted the bid for 2 movers handling my 900 square feet apartment. I had a rather wackadoodke move. Most of my stuff went into storage, a minority went into a small cargo van. They loaded both vehicles, unloaded at storage, and were very efficient in their labor. They arrived around 8:15 and were done around 4:00. I paid around $1700+tip. They provided paper furniture blankets, some tape and boxes as well as plastic wrap. So far, I am satisfied. read more

We hired Careful Movers to help us move over 80 boxes plus furniture from a tri-level townhouse to a freshly renovated home. We also opted for two trucks and a five-man crew to make the process more efficient. Enrique, Jose C., Jilberto, Ismael, and Ernesto were awesome and finished the job in a little under 6 hours, which was actually faster than the estimated time. They took good care of all of our furniture items and the homes, carefully wrapping big pieces of furniture, and protecting corners and floors. All of our fragile items survived, and there was minimal damage to the walls despite needing to move very large items around very tight corners. The move itself had no issues, everything I own was moved with care from San Bruno to San Jose with no damage to anything. Update: Carlos from Careful Movers reached out to resolve the issues I raised. As I mentioned in the original review, the customer service is very good and professional. Bumping to 4 stars. For the protection cover concern, I was explained that it is intended for high traffic areas. So that was working as expected. Original review: Requested a move from Mountain View to Cupertino. The customer service gave me a good impression, verifying the schedule, double checking the scope of the move. The actual move was not so careful. I would say nothing special. I saw how one of my boxes fallen off the dolly because too many on them were stacked on top. I haven't checked the contents yet, so waiting for a surprise. During the bed assembly, one of the legs was dropped and left a noticeable dent on the floor. We were asked what kind of floor we have multiple times. But what the use? We only got wooden stairs covered at the destination, the rest of the service was the same (not any more careful). read more

We needed someone for a long distance move of a few heavy items. I ultimately chose Careful Movers, who offered a flat rate for a shared truck. Ruben was great with setting everything up, and luckily we were paired with another customer quite quickly. For these shared truck moves, it seems different companies will charge in different ways--Careful Movers charged by the hour for packing and boxing (plus for the boxes), but loading and unloading the truck were part of the flat rate, as were all costs associated with the drive (gas, food, lodging etc). Another company I looked into charged by the cubic foot within the truck. The only niggle with Ruben is he forgot the time of our scheduled video walk-through; I had to call him. the day before the move, Shenna called to review everything, and she called for follow up shortly after the initial move was completed also. On moving day, foreman Aaron and his team of 2 arrived in a timely manner and were able to pack/box everything in less time than estimated, saving us some $$. And on drop-off day, they arrived early after our okay. This time it was Aaron and one other person. Unloading was quick; Aaron's attention to detail, care and supervision were instrumental in making the move go smoothly. The other workers were less careful with fragile items, less attentive, only doing what they were asked to do. Luckily Aaron packed the fine china and an especially fragile lamp. I hired Careful Movers to relocate a freezer inside the house and move a refrigerator from our garage into the house. The experience was positive from start to finish. Matt helped me schedule the move for the next Monday and set up an arrival window. That weekend Shana called and briefly went over everything with me; she had obviously read the description of the move before calling. She asked if it would be OK for them to come earlier than planned if their moving crew finished with their previous job early. I said sure. Monday morning a dispatcher, Carlos, called to tell me that the crew would indeed be finishing early, and gave me a new earlier arrival window. I subsequently got a text telling me they were 40 minutes out. The 2 movers arrived right on time and were awesome. They pitched in to help unload and reload the freezer and fridge even though we had told them we would handle that. They were quick, thorough, and yes careful. The city was doing work on our cul-de-sac's street, and at one point made the movers move their truck. They rolled with this without complaint. I was very happy; the move could not have gone smoother and they could not have been more helpful. I will definitely be hiring them again if the need arises. read more

Their crew of 3 arrived within the appointed time window with a 25 foot truck for a small apartment. They boxed some lose items, and wrapped everything with blankets or plastic film. Moving the items to and from the truck was intense physical work. It was exhausting just watching them. They completed the job without damaging anything. They charged $195 an hour for 5 hours plus materials such as boxes, plastic wrap and floor covers. Travel time between the two locations was doubled for round trip billing. The actual time between arrival at the pickup and finish time at the destination was 4 hours. The total came to $1200 including a 3% credit card charge. read more

In February 2026, on very short notice, I felt the need to move my things out of the apartment I shared with my husband for more than 20 years (long story). In one call on a Tuesday, I spoke to Mat and was able to hear about their services, get a quote, and book the move -- on a Saturday four days later. When the team arrived, they were amazingly fast in finishing the job. They got the vast majority of my belongings, aside from things that weren't ready to go, from my second-floor apartment to my (also hastily booked) storage unit in what felt like record time. Foreman Alexander C and crew members Cristian L and Jorge R were courteous and efficient and took good care of my property, including my grandmother's hope chest from the 1930s, which probably isn't worth much on the market but which means a great deal to me. I note that when I told Mat the name of the storage facility, he told me that facility refers people to Careful Movers. Absolutely incredible team and so happy with my experience. Moved from Dublin to Livermore from a 3 story house with LOTS of stuff to a 1 story home. The team wrapped all of our belongings with care and precision, nothing was damaged, which is so surprising because I feel like you just expect some bumps along the way. The best moving experience. Very efficient service requesting process - estimate was ready in 1 minute after a video call. The crew was extremely fast and careful - no damaged items, no time wasted. We were moving from 2 different places into 1 so it was a big move - took about 7-8 hours, the guys didn't take ANY breaks (not sure how but it happened).
