I used Moving Forward again for my last move back in October and have been debating writing this review because Luis, the owner, was honestly amazing, super friendly, and helpful when I used them for the last move. I think just some of the younger guys on the crew might need additional instruction or a tad more supervision if you're paying them to pack up your stuff as well. Removing one star for this review...I'd remove only half a star, but that's not an option. Receptionist was still great! She scheduled a walk-through for an estimate and there was a little bit of a mix-up--it was supposed to be a FaceTime walkthrough (because pandemic) but someone actually showed up in person unexpectedly. Not a big deal. He was super friendly, patient, and kept his mask on the entire time. Gave me an estimate to pack up my entire apartment, including materials costs (after like 6 moves in 7 years, I was DONE with packing up my shit) and transportation, and the estimate was reasonable for the planned work. Day of move: A team of three guys showed up on time. Two were younger, one was older. The older guy immediately went to work packing all the kitchen stuff, and the other two were responsible for getting all my clothes and stuff into the wardrobe boxes, plus whatever I had in the living area. My kitchen glassware was very carefully wrapped--nothing was broken! Amazing. The removal of the star is for as follows: - My PS4 and Nintendo Switch, plus accessories, were all thrown into one box. Not wrapped or anything, just thrown into a box with no wrapping materials or anything to cushion them. I'm very happy (lucky?) nothing was scratched or broken. - The toilet plunger and brush WERE THROWN INTO THE SAME BOX as my hair dryer and hair brushes. Nothing was wrapped. It would've taken a few minutes to just wrap the toilet plunger and toilet brush into a trash bag or something. That's just unsanitary. Even minus the one star, the guys did a pretty great job. My condo complex is a pain in the *ss to move into, and they moved everything really quickly. My TV was wrapped and moved undamaged; they dismantled my bedframe and moved that and the mattress downstairs quickly. All in all, I still highly recommend Moving Forward and have in fact recommended them to several friends since then, but told them to double check to avoid stuff like the two points I called out above. read more

The only reason I give these movers 2 stars is because of the courtesy and friendliness of the workers. The rates that were charged are astronomical. You are not renting the truck, you are renting the space at $3.50 per cubic foot. Not only that, if you have a bulky item, you are charged even more. We got charged $1000 for our bulky item. When it was all said and done we paid over $10,000 to move from California to Arizona! On top of they they would only accept a money order before they would start packing! I was referred to this business by my realtor. I was struck by the friendliness of the person on the phone and the promptness of his follow up emails. The only thing I would point out that he assigned us only 2 men when we actually needed 3. Here's where the movers-- Elder and Luis really shined. They showed up right on time, worked efficiently and yet with care and respect. It was really enough work for 3, and it took them 9 hours to finish the job. Despite the long day, they never waivered in the amount of care and attention they showed to our belongings, to us, and to our dog. You can see from the photos that they successfully moved our giant plant. Moving Forward just finished moving our single family home into a new place. They did this pretty much perfectly, and I plan on using them again soon, to move back. There were a few complicating factors: I had an elaborate home office set up, and we needed to store a lot of things in storage, because the destination house was smaller. They were very careful, but still smooth and fast, when moving all these things. And I liked how they made it pretty easy to set up the computers and home office when we arrived, because they only disassembled as much as necessary. For example, they left the monitor support arms wired up, just unplugged, and all the wires were in one box, so I just had to replug in things and I'm back up and online with work. They did the whole move in one day with a large team and two trucks, including packing things up. This is especially welcome, so that we only had to take one day off in order to get through this. Since it was a local move, they boxed up refrigerator and freezer food at the end, and we were able to use all of it, nothing got wasted. Very easy to communicate with before (text and phone and email all were easy) and during the move too. And everyone was very nice too! The cost was hourly plus fuel and such, no surprises. So this is exactly what I hoped for: fast, competent moving at a fair price. This company is an inspiration for how to do a job really well. Thank you, guys! read more

Just awful. So much of our furniture was damaged (cracked, gauged, scratched or plain destroyed). They also damaged our wood floors and the lead guy took pictures and reassured me that his boss would contact me about repairing it and so "don't worry about filing a claim". He did not. I emailed. Still silence 2 weeks later. Some examples of their incompetence: (1) Our pool table was professionally disassembled the day before Moving Forward showed up. I repeatedly told them to place several blankets under where the 3 pieces of the slate would be placed in the trailer. They placed exactly ZERO blankets under the three slate pieces. TWO of the slate pieces were damaged. (2) They placed our wardrobe boxes on the bottom below several heavy boxes full of books etc. Who does that? (3) Most of our furniture were wrapped in the middle but not on the corners where it's most likely to sustain damaged. The damage they sustained. Some of our wood furniture wasn't even wrapped and thus were heavily scratched. But our upholstered couch had several layers of plastic wrap. Go figure. (4) One desk and one cabinet were destroyed. (5) I told them repeatedly exactly what needs to go into the trailers and which were optional (only if there's room). So they loaded portions of things that need to go and things that were optional. Then they declared the trailers were full and they were done. I was unhappy that we'd have furniture and a home gym that's partially loaded so it's useless and worthless in two states. All of a sudden, they said they can finish loading the partially loaded gym. So they loaded heavy metal pieces atop our teak table without ANY protection. None. They had decided they wanted to go home and they weren't going to make sure our belongings would be safe. Then the billing. We requested 5 movers. On their website, it states $190/hour for 3 men and $220/hour for 4 men (so $30/hour for the 4th man). I confirmed on the phone that the 5th mover would be $30/hour as well. They charged me $50 for the 5th mover. Truly shady. And you know why they unnecessarily used so much plastic wrap (yet only wrap the middle of our furniture, leaving the tops/bottoms and corners to be damaged because they'd have to reach or bend down to actually protect the entire piece of furniture)? Because they charge an amount they don't disclose upfront for each roll of plastic wrap. Oh, and the owner claims he sent me a contract. IF he did, I never got it. I asked if he received either a reply confirmation or a sign contract back from me. No, of course not. Guess what? Then it's not a contract. It's a made up excuse to charge customers whatever they want because they CLAIM they sent a contract they never sent. If you're moving, stay away from this awful and unprofessional business. I'd take my chances and hire someone else. Moving is stressful enough without their shenanigans. read more

Short review - Amazing moving crew run by Luis. Careful, efficiently, friendly and quick. Use them if you want a no hassle, smooth move. Our move was long distance. SF to SD. Longer review - I can't say enough about how good Luis and his crew were in moving our San Francisco apartment to San Diego. Super efficient though the quoting process, professional and quick to respond. After we selected them, the reservation process was really easy. Luis dropped us off wardrobe boxes and doublecheck dimensions and furniture. They followed COVID procedures and wore masks all the way through and liberal use of sanitizer. The crew packed us up super efficiently into their 26ft truck, lots of awkward shaped things but did it really efficiently. They then drove it all down to San Diego and unpacked it all the next day, it was a warm one here and they rocked it. No damage to any thing in the move at all, he even found a tiny half inch screw from our bed frame in the back of the truck at the end and made sure I got it. Awesome movers! The reservation process was seamless - they called me up back at 8am when I was barely awake and sent me a confirmation email immediately which seemed to be a great sign of their work ethic and efficiency. On the day of, the team arrived several minutes early even with our very early time slot! We were not fully packed up - had a bunch of random odds and ends and they were great with speedily packing up the rest. They were very respectful of our space and belongings, and used blankets + plastic wrap for all our major furniture. Really appreciated that they wrapped up some glass parts very securely as well. They also provided plenty of closet boxes which made moving clothes super easy. Communication was good, they took time to set up our furniture in the spots we needed them. We had a bunch of heavy stuff and I was impressed with how they navigated some tight corners without any bumps. Appreciate that there were no surprises with the billing - they explained additional costs during the call and charged only for what was used. The move was reasonably priced and totally stress-free. Moved my voluminous stuff 2 hours out of SF to my storage facility. The 2 guys and their truck were right on time, courteous, both spoke English adequately, and they didn't run the clock. They worked hard and well. At the storage facility, I presented them with the challenge of fitting all that stuff into a partly-occupied space that needed some rearrangement. They were up to the task and we filled it out. The cost was basically what I was told it would be. The only reason I have not given 5 stars was on account of the minor issue my movers had with taking a few empty boxes and bubble wrap to discard, along with some sellable items like a good lightweight bookcase that just didn't fit. They wanted $60 to chuck the lot, and as they were going back to SF I told them to just bring it back to where it came from, as my sons were there to received it. I was paying them to drive back to SF anyway. It was a really unnecessary hassle at the end but a very minor one and if I could give 4.5 I would have. Try Moving Forward. we selected Moving Forward based on good reviews and we had an awesome experience. should be given more than 5 stars. process to book was organized and tech savvy. we got COI exactly as was requested by HOA in 2-3 days. movers showed up on time at 8 am in the morning. it was Luis and 1 more person. they did such an amazing job of moving so much of our stuff in such a safe manner that we were so happy. very easy to work with and communication in English was perfect. very understanding of different instructions and requests. they wrapped everything in plastic wrap and used blankets for all furniture. we moved a big 3 seater recliner, large bookshelf, 65 inch LG oled tv, TV cabinet with glass windows, tall dressing mirror, ping pong table, 2 king mattresses and bed frames. they worked very fast and hard and efficiently. it took us 7 hours to complete the move for all the stuff we had from large items to small items. very fair and transparent pricing and we can pay using credit card. win-win for everyone. will definitely reuse Moving Forward movers again in future and recommend them to everyone. They moved our 3 bedroom house, including garage full of heavy woodworking tools in 102 degree weather without any issues whatsoever. We originally had scoped 5 guys and 2 trucks, but it became clear that we would need another truck 1/2 way through. No problem- they got a 3rd truck out in no time. My woodworking equipment is very heavy 600 lbs per piece, and they were able to manage it perfectly. I wish all services I hire could be as good as Moving Forward. I hope to never move again, but if I do, it will be only them that I call. read more
