I'm going to leave an unorthodox review for Jay's Small Moves. I had an extremely last second move request which the company could understandably not accommodate, so I did not use the service. However, I wanted to acknowledge the old school professionalism displayed after I was told my move request couldn't be done on such short notice due to their schedule being full for the day. They provided me with the names and phone numbers of two of their competitors who they recommended as excellent alternatives. I couldn't help but share this story which reflects positively upon this business, and I will definitely use them for future moves. read more

I've used Jay's Small Moves for several moves small and large and they always deliver. Great communication beforehand, I love that you can call and speak to someone or email. Day of they provide wardrobe boxes to move hanging clothes and lots of blankets and wrap to protect furniture. The movers have always been great and Emanuel and his crew that moved us this weekend were the best. They also were very helpful in helping me pack. Overall, tremendous value for the money I paid, specially since I paid by the hour. Long overdue review (in my defense I was busy unpacking/decorating my new space). Jay's Small Moves basically packed up my entire life in one hour! It probably helped that I literally moved 6 blocks away (hey, my zip code still changed, okay?) =D I packed and boxed up my belongings ahead of their arrival and Joe and his team took care of the heavy hauling. They were efficient, professional, and gave me phone updates of their eta. There was a miscommunication when I told them that I was moving out of a bedroom in a house and they assumed I didn't have that much stuff even though I submitted a detailed list of what was being moved beforehand, but it was ironed out in the end! Joe and his team were absolutely professional, even made some jokes with me along the way, and I provided them water for hydration (especially since I did not carry anything at all, although I did walk the 6 blocks to meet them when they unpacked me at my new place). Price was better than other movers I've used in the past, no unexpected hidden fees that came out and bit me in the butt, and I will likely use them again if I ever move again. read more

I've used Jay's small moves twice in the past 5 years, and I'm so glad I did. I don't want to be that guy who asks friends around for a truck and then overcomplicates things. That's why I decided to go with Jay. Not only was the price affordable, but the amount of labor they took off my hands was worth the mental clarity and peace of mind. For example, I had some furniture I needed to take apart. I'm the kind of guy who keeps all the instructions, but I lost the one for my bed frame. I was so frustrated that I thought they wouldn't be able to help me. But guess what? They said no problem and even put it back together better than I originally did. I have a small studio with a lot of computer parts and spare materials and speakers, and not a single thing was dented. They even got the job done sooner than expected because of their efficiency. Part of me was worried they'd be the kind of movers who go slow to charge that extra hour, but absolutely not. They got it in record time and even helped me move things around to my liking. I'll be moving again next year with my partner, and he swears we can do it ourselves. Absolutely not! I'll be using Jay's again because I don't have tools, and it's cheaper for me to have them do the work than it will be to rent a truck, boxes, buy tools, and argue with my man. These guys are amazing. How different can movers be, right? Turns out very different. First, they're super-efficient. They got our one bedroom apartment into the truck in a little over 1 hour. I was blown away how efficient they were, I've done moves before and this was just genuinely surprising. Second, they're professional. Show up on time, careful with your stuff, do what they say they'll do, etc. Third, they go above and beyond. In our case there was a little screw up-- they accidentally forgot to load our bike. I texted the guy to ask about it, the next day he showed up at the apartment to pick up the bike and move it. Darwin, Jose, and Francisco are STARS! I hired Jay's three times, and have been super happy all three times, but the third truly is the charm. This move was NOT easy! I had them come to San Francisco to grab my things from a jam-packed studio up a janky flight of narrow stairs and pack my things, and then go pick up my girlfriend's things in Sunnyvale. The three took such great care of my things - I was honestly going to take my beloved road bicycle in my car, but when I saw how well they were packing my things in the moving van, I just handed my baby over. I knew I was in great hands! They were careful, patient, and kind. They truly cared for my things as if they were precious items from a palace! I was just in awe of them. Also, for skinny guys, they sure can lift a lot. They had to maneuver my Peloton bike down the janky steps and they were so careful and gentle. Overall, the communication was so great as well. These folks don't mess around! From first contact through the end of a 7 hour grueling move in the high heat up and down the steep steps, Santos and his guys do not waste a moment. They are amazingly strong and willing to move almost anything, anywhere. Look no further for a quality moving experience! The scheduling was smooth, the person on the phone actually listened and took time to thoroughly answer my questions. This was my first time using movers and I appreciated the extra time. I was paired with the Gonzales brothers - if you can request these guys, I highly recommend it! Omar called when they were 30 mins out, called when they arrived, asked for a walkthrough of my place and it was literally I pointed and my things disappeared (got loaded on to the truck). They were done loading my place in 30 - 35 mins. And I had a lot of things. A lot. Of things. My new place has really narrow, steep streets and I was super concerned that a moving truck that big wouldn't fit. My concerns were misplaced. Whoever drove (probably Omar) did an expert job. They showed up to my new place right as I showed up and handled these tricky streets with ease! All 3 of the brothers maintained a great attitude, treated my items with care, and placed the furniture exactly where I wanted. They helped disassemble a few pieces of furniture, as asked, which was great, and wrapped them in cellophane. I couldn't use the previous moving company I used because their license had been revoked. After getting quotes and availabilities using my trusty Yelp app, I decided to hire Jay's Small Moves. They were very communicative with me. I needed to coordinate with my HOA regarding the use of the freight elevator, and other things. I appreciate the patience Anthony had for me because we were emailing back and forth for awhile. They provided me with the moving tips and PUC booklet as required, along with a quote, and we were all set. Then moving day came. They came 15 minutes after the set time, which was actually perfect because my neighbor who parked in front of my building just left, allowing the truck plenty of space. And it allowed me to bring a lot of stuff down the three flights to make the move faster. I took an Uber to meet them at my new place across town. And they were organized and quick on getting my stuff inside. My dad was outside watching the truck, but they locked it every time so my stuff would've been safe even if he wasn't there. The only issue I had was that one was on his cell phone a lot, and that I was quoted for 2 movers when there were 3. Having 3 did make it go faster - I was done in less than 2 hours. But technically there were 4 movers because I helped a lot in the beginning So I wish I was quoted for 3 since I had to pay more than what was expected. It was expensive, but moving is hard work, and a lot of stress for all parties. And the major factor is that Jay's Small Moves is fully licensed. Don't risk getting an unlicensed company because it may be cheap.. at first. There's a reason why there are licenses in the first place. I recommend Jay's Small Moves if you're moving within the city. read more
