Circumstances required a planned 2-phase, multi-location move, and Kora didn't blink. They disassembled and reassembled some equipment, navigated long narrow stairs with bulky equipment that could not be disassembled, packed office and studio supplies effectively, thoughtfully used the elevator, and took great care with the plants. I paid $15,000 usd for the moving. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this service. I've been waiting for over a month to receive a closet drawer that was damaged during moving. Carlos promised to fix it and send it back, but to this day, I haven't received the drawer back. They were responsive as many have said, but they were careless and hurried. He was in such a hurry to get my move done because he had another one booked soon that he would stack several boxes on his back and rush to get them to the truck. Sometimes it was a couple of feet hight with several large boxes, sometimes he would put various size boxes on his back. All of this led to several broken items. One time he was just outside and I heard something fall and he quickly said "sorry" to no-one there and picked it up and put it on the truck. He never told me that he dropped anything. Once unpacking I found several broken items and some missing items. I called him and after numerous calls he finally brought back my missing items and said he would pay 1/2 the cost of my broken valuables but never did. I kept calling he would say the check was being cut, it was being mailed, etc but it never came. I was very disappointed in their service. It made moving more stressful. read more

TLDR: 1. They arrived late (originally supposed to arrive between 12-1PM; day of, they called to say they'd arrive at 1:30PM; in actuality arrived at 2:10 -- only because I called them at 1:50). 2. For a 1 bedroom condo to 1 bedroom condo move within 2 miles, it took them 5 hours. That is crazy! This was my 7th move for a 1 bedroom and never has it taken more than 4 hours (usually around 3!). 3. They tried to overcharge me, but I had an email with proof that there would be no hidden fees. 4. At the end, the movers kept saying it was supposed to be a 3 man crew, but they were down 1 man so the 2 that showed up worked "really hard" (specific examples below which leave me skeptical). __________________________________________________________ Details: This was my 7th move in 10 years, and there was a big misalignment in how they set expectations and the reality. I was so excited about how Carlos (I think the owner) was so on top of everything! He answered when I called and when I sent a follow up email recapping our conversation (including price, time/date, insurance requirements, etc for a ~1 mile move from a 1 bedroom condo to another 1 bedroom condo down the street from Oakland to Oakland), he replied promptly. He proactively gave me an example of who the COI should be addressed to. The red flag should have been that he mentioned on the phone 3 movers for a certain rate; in the email, he said it was actually for 2 movers. The day before the move, Jessica was so sweet and called to confirm that the moving professionals would arrive between 12-1PM (which Carlos had also confirmed). I said that was find as long as the move would be wrapped up by 5PM since my new building allows elevator reservations between 1-5PM. The day of the move, Jessica called me and said they should arrive 1:30PM. At 1:50PM, I called her back and she said they were 10 mins away. They drove onto my street at 2:10PM. Still ok because I've had moves take 3 or maybe 4 hours max in the past. The two gentlemen who did the move were nice, but definitely unlike any other movers I have worked with: -Because they were late, they asked if they could move the big stuff and maybe we could move some of the smaller stuff on our own... like two kitchen stools, a wine rack, a full length mirror, golf bags, and others... which kind of defeated the purpose of hiring professional movers! -They left some moving gear behind. -Even though we were super crunched for time, they loaded one item (a peloton bike) into the elevator and spent time checking out the view at my new place. The most disappointing thing was that the head mover made me feel like I was nickel and dime-ing them. After a 5 hour move for a 1 bedroom one mile away, he said they arrived exactly at 2 and then started charging me add ons and drive back fees. The other mover said they were late because they stopped for tacos between their morning job and my move. I am so glad I had an email where Carlos confirmed "no hidden fees". I tipped SUPER generously at 20% (per google: As a guideline, you should tip your movers between 15-20 percent of the total cost of the move for large moves and 5-10 percent for smaller, cross-town moves.). I hate to give 1 star reviews, but they really left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I just want to put this on here because this was not a 5 star move and on yelp AND google, they are a 5 star business. The movers never apologized for being late (which maybe was not their fault since the schedulers tried to book 2 small moves within the same day without a lunch break for these guys -- hence, my generous tip!), which brought this from 2 to 1 stars! I don't think I'll get any sort of refund (and I don't honestly expect one), but I'm posting this for people like me who like to see what went wrong in a move. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't call Kora. If you decide to use this moving company, make it very clear in writing the times/costs. read more

I first heard about Kora from a stager we began working with to help sell our condo. I then carefully researched Kora and was surprised to see more than 140+ 5-star reviews on Google (which is RARE for a moving company), and 90+ reviews on Yelp with 5-stars as well. I used Kora Moving services today to move from 1bd (2nd floor no elevator) to a 1bd (1st floor) apartment. I am amazed how efficient, professional, and quick the two gentlemen were. The movers arrived in the middle of the 30min arrival window that I was provided and called 15min ahead of time to confirm I'm ready to go. We managed to wrap everything up in less than 3h and that included 20min drive in between the apartments. I'd say I had a medium amount of stuff and I had everything packed in boxes and ready to go. I have 2 friends who were moving about the same time as me who opted to use different moving services as they got lower quotes elsewhere. Both of them took longer than originally quoted and ended up paying more (not to mention wasting more time). I initially received a recommendation for this company, and decided to request a quote. Their rates were pretty competitive, and we decided to give them a try, especially since we haven't had the best experience with movers. They showed up on time and were very professional throughout. They first do a walkthrough and strategize about how to move what and when. We had to move a full fridge of food and they advised that we wait until the very end to turn it off and empty the food into coolers. The wrapped furniture and dismantle and reassemble where necessary. I thought I had some heavy boxes but they go and pick up three at a time and keep moving without pause! We were originally booked with a different moving company, but due to unfortunate circumstances with that company, they suddenly had to cancel our move just 2 days before our scheduled move day. We hired Kora Moving to help us move from our apartment (1bd 1bt) in Berkeley to Sacramento. Communication: Carlos, the owner of Kora Moving, was very professional from the outset. He promptly gave us a quote weeks in advance of the move and stayed in contact with us until the day of the move. Carlos got to my property before I did because I had to handle some last minute stuff in Berkeley and he was very communicative and worked with me to have my new apartment manager unlock the apartment for him and his co-worker. Very easy to talk to and extremely friendly! Efficiency and Timing of Item Movement: They arrived at around 9:30 AM on the day of the move and had everything in their moving truck by before noon. They were extremely efficient with the movement of packages in and out of the apartment. They came with a dolly, blankets, packing tape, and other items to make sure all of our items were packaged well. They also disassembled our bed very quickly and reassembled it at our new apartment. Overall, I was very satisfied and impressed with how fast they worked and all of our furniture arrived at our new place in good condition. I needed to move a very heavy (300lbs) gas range from the garage to the first floor. Carlos was very quick responding to the quote request in the late afternoon, offered a reasonable estimate, agreed to come next morning 9:30-10am and they indeed showed up at 9:50 keeping me aware of their whereabouts and ETA. The whole operation runs like a clockwork. They were very careful and very quick, the whole move (old range goes down to the garage, the new one goes up into the kitchen) took 20 minutes! They moved 600lbs worth of stainless steel and had to remove (and then reinstall) the door to get the ranges through. Beyond impressive. I was initially kind of suspective of the 5-star throughout rating, especially for a moving company, you know. Now I understand why. Well deserved.
