Vostok Construction - Timeless Beautiful Bathroom Remodel

    Vostok Construction

We've remodeled a kitchen before with a company that wasn't fantastic, so having Vostok…read moreconstruction be so great was amazing. We chose Vostok Construction to remodel our primary bathroom/bedroom that had lots of water damage. We knew that it would be a big job (needed new subfloor and floor joists and studs in one wall) and they took care of us. They were very careful to make sure their mess didn't get anywhere outside of the job site, took their time to make the finishes look just right, and were courteous and kind to myself and my kids. And Igor's tiling is absolutely stunning. I have high standards for finishes and I cannot find a flaw in our tile--he's that good. Eric and Alex were super helpful with seeing our vision and explaining what would be cost effective but also functional. I never felt like either of them pushed me to do something I didn't want (and as a people pleaser, that's hard!). The job had a couple of rough spots (bad plumbing from the previous contractor, and a paint color mixup etc.) but each time there was an issue, the communication was clear and they let us know what needed to be done. They were patient when we realized our faucets and other metal finishes weren't matching and did their best to help us find what we needed. They finished the job in the timeframe they quoted us even with some hiccups along the way. I would 100% recommend Vostok Construction (and I have to some friends!). I hope to use them again in the near future for some more bathrooms and a living room overhaul.

Central Builders - Hardwood flooring installation/ painting

We blew out a wall, doubled the kitchen size, all new flooring, cabinets, windows, countertops, backsplash, ceiling beams, you name it. Vic and his team were professional throughout, easy to work with, respectful, open minded to what we wanted and did their absolute best to make our vision come true, and they nailed it. Very reasonable and most importantly in this type of process, trustworthy. Highly recommend them if you're looking for anytime similar to what we did.

I apologize now for what may be a lengthy review. I contacted Central Builders for several projects…read more- new fencing for a 1/2 acre lot, a new deck, a new front walkway and a sump pump to stop our garage from flooding. The fencing bid was in line with the others I received but two of my three neighbors are refusing to replace the downed fences so that project did not move forward. I will write a second review for the new walkway and sump pump because this deck review is pretty long! The deck project - I had already had someone remove the old deck so Vic and his crew were setting the foundation and installing a new Trex deck. Vic went the extra mile in meeting my requests and multiple rebids and change requests before even getting the job. Excellent customer service before I was a customer. I had three other bids that were all at a much higher cost. After going to the lumber yard to see samples of the Trex boards and to select my color, I decided to upgrade the materials to the best and highest Trex boards. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the other bidders were so high. They bid the 2nd to lowest level Trex boards and then they nearly doubled the supply cost. Central Builders had a very reasonable mark up on the boards, especially considering they had to order it, pick it up and deliver it all to my location. The crew arrived on time every day. Kept the work area clean. Kept me informed throughout the process and started and finished when promised. They took extra care to make sure the deck was level and added an extra support for a very heavy plant pot that would be going in the rear corner. The job included adding LED lighting to the steps and accommodating my under house vents by cutting ventilation in to the deck supports. I had asked that the front of the deck be sealed in a way that would prevent skunks from getting under it. The crew not only added a wire mesh barrier under the facia board, they painted it black so it would blend in and not be obvious. And last but not least, in t he pictures, note the downspout to the deck. Vic altered and bought a proper end spout so we can attach a hose in the winter to redirect the water so we don't get moisture under the deck. Going the extra mile. Super happy with how this project went!!! I highly recommend Central Builders!

One thing what people don't talk about enough is the sheer number of decisions you have to make in order to get our house completed. From flooring and fixtures to decisions about interior layout and even details as small as outlet placement, the number of decisions seemed to never end. At some point we were just tired of choosing. I was a bit worried when the framing went up but after discussing it with Nick it was just something that wasn't clearly rendered in the plans and ended up being correct. My brain doesn't very well translate from paper to reality so I appreciated Nick walking me through the reasoning behind it. There was a very minor glitch with the bathroom vanity install - it came in slightly different but that was corrected with a substitute product and took a couple of extra days to complete. Once finished it feels like a really comfortable space - quiet, bright but not too bright and doesn't feel separate from the house. The best thing is its versatility. We've used it for our family to stay there, we've used it as an office and sometimes just extra space.

But through it all A+ Construction & Remodeling handled everything professionally and made sure everything got completed to our satisfaction even though the project was fraught with last minute changes and last minute repairs needed. I would highly recommend A+. They were finished just in time - really the hardest part was before all that, going through plan, revision, city comment and then more revision cycles. I even thought we were done with drawings once, before more corrections were found. Once construction started, it started to feel like real progress was taking place. It wasn't ever perfect, some weeks would drag on with nothing going on and then we'd wake up to find that someone had done a bunch of work for last days - especially the process when all of the framing, rough-in plumbing and electrical all happened simultaneously. I got a bit frustrated for a day or so when the windows delivery was delayed but once the new stock arrived the guys were straight back on track again. We also found a few minor hitches but the management were very efficient in rectifying them before we had to bring it up. Once it was finished, I really liked that it wasn't some flimsy, "temp" addition. It felt like a real small house. ADUs look easy but in reality are more complicated. Thank goodness you have a team that can see it through to the end! Thank you A+ Team! In particular thank you Nick and Olga from the constuction and permit teams.

I have done a lot of work over the years and am happy to say that if you live in this area, he is your guy. He was fair and honest from the get go. The price he gives you is the price you will pay. I never received any surprise "change orders". As contractors go, Omar was VERY open and communicative. No problems ever getting him or his crew on the phone. He had great suggestions on all things we discussed. Always seemed to know a lot about his work and various things people like. The project was a big one, and I am super happy with how fast it went. He even got started for us over Thanksgiving and Xmas, and his crew would show up on Saturday or Sunday sometimes to keep on working (which was fine with us!). There were no subcontractors involved... everything was through Noor Construction. If we had any minor issues that needed correcting, Omar would come and look at it and tell his crew what to do. We really appreciate the details, crown molding and trim was superbly done, and the tile was just amazing, we are very impressed with his team. I mean seriously anyone who has attempted to do crown molding in the past knows what I am talking about. For details if you've made it this far, our story: Where shall I start. I suppose we start with the idea: build a bedroom in the second floor space of our "great room" which has really tall ceilings... like 30 feet plus. So basically add a bedroom in the second story "empty space" above the first floor. Easy right? Well, after getting ghosted by several contractors, I finally called Omar. He informed he thought we were probably getting ghosted because the architect had told him that footings were needed to support this new bedroom which would be sort of like an island in the middle of the house. We live on a hill, so these support columns would have to go through the first floor, basement, and then under the house. This added to the cost, but we really wanted a bedroom in that space. Omar gave me a price. I told him no thanks, my wife and I thought well maybe we changed our mind as the cost came in higher with the footing work. After a few weeks, we talked it over, changed our minds. We really needed the bedroom. I called him, thinking "gosh he probably won't want our work". Omar came back, no change in price, same deal as before, he didn't even bat an eye, he was ready to go, and this was like 4 weeks later after I told him no. So yea, it was project that I was told was too much for people, everyone didn't want to go get permits or deal with the footings... Omar told us what to expect and stuck to the plan. He dealt with the County and the inspector always came and said even himself "these guys know what they are doing". We passed all inspections. Omar even was super flexible about adding things to the project as we went along, as you know I get ideas about what I might want, we added some carpeting and shelving, and additional tile work that he added at no additional cost to him. He really just knows what he is doing and is super on top of things. So go with Noor Construction if you have the chance, you won't regret it!

Ellie, the estimator, is an amazing person. She's been so professional and willing to work with our budget unlike other contractors who just ghosted me after learning what my budget was. It was a fun new homeowner surprise to realize it was impossible to remove the broken machine without first removing the vanity, which was too large for the space and prevented the machine from fitting out the door. To begin the process, Ellie asked us to send photos of bathrooms we liked. I appreciated this ask because it helped me get a sense of what I like as well as communicate that to the team. They then presented us with a computer rendered design that checked all our boxes, and incorporated our style in ways I had not imagined. Olive Homes really helped us problem solve to maximize storage in our one and only tiny, very narrow bathroom. Now that the job is complete, our bathroom is much more functional with all available space thoughtfully appointed. Olive Homes helped make the best of what we have, and it looks gorgeous! I'm a landscape designer and artist, so I'm detail oriented and fairly picky about aesthetics. Ellie was patient with me and helped locate materials that satisfied me and expressed our style while remaining cohesive with the house. Ellie was able to break the tie when I couldn't decide between a few colors or styles. We also added a few items to our job along the way, and Olive Homes was very accommodating. The only reason for 4 stars is because there were some hiccups/ road blocks over the course of the job, and it ended up taking quite a bit longer than anticipated. Most of that was out of any of our control, due to long shipping delays for materials and our additions to the project. Olive homes creatively and effectively resolved all issues as they arose, and the final result is fantastic! We're very happy with how it turned out, and thankful to everyone who helped make it happen.
