I waited. And waited. David is so SO worth the wait! Are you looking for a contractor? Combing through yelp, Angies list?? Even calling the contractor trucks you see while commuting to work? Just stop it, because I did that, too. No one else had 1) photos of impeccable work (look at that tile perfection - it looks better in real life), 2) expertise for plan and recommendations (I'm no design major), and 3) integrity to do the right thing each step of the way. Pricing wise, I was talked by salesman and pressured to sign a contract, "I work with my sons! "My tile guy is ready next week!", not with David. David knew my goal with my home (not my dream home) and thankfully we were able to stay within budget. If you want to know specifics, message me. Be reassured, as an Asian woman looking for a good deal, I SCORED BIG TIME! Follow my tip: get on his waiting list, and in the meantime, plan what you want. Because when your turn is up, he is a dedicated honey bee!! read more

We recently got the master bathroom remodel we've always wanted--but way sooner than we thought. We had some gradual water damage, and were worried that it was a lot, since we saw signs of it on the floor and the shower wall. We spoke with a few contractors, but Dave's calm, down to earth manner, and his vast knowledge told us he was the right one. His quoted price was fair as well, and the project stayed within that budget. Once he and his brother Keith tore everything out, we found that the damage wasn't as bad as feared, and easily fixable. The installation of our old jetted tub, decades ago, was the cause. He replaced the damaged part of the plywood subfloor, and took measures to ensure that water would not be able to travel down or up through the subfloor. He also used products that created a reliable moisture barrier around the walls and floor of the new shower enclosure. I really appreciate his attention to the structural part of this job, the part that you don't see, but is critical to the success of a bathroom. Once the structure was rebuilt, he then created a beautiful bathroom. Created a new shower enclosure, with a bench seat and wall niche (for soap, shampoo, etc.). Moved the drain to the center. Installed two kinds of tile on the walls, and a third one on the floor. Installed all hardware. Redid the entire bathroom floor tile. Installed a new toilet, with a bidet seat (hey, we decided to go a bit upscale). Installed a brand new bathroom fan (we wanted to get rid of steamy mirrors and protect our investment). The standout part of all this was his attention to detail, and fit and finish. Completely professional and modern. Dave worked well with the Sacramento County inspector too, to make sure that everything is up to code--although Dave's work already is up to code. He didn't need to be told what to do. He also recommended a great glass company to put in the glass door enclosure for us, and a great resource for tile, Floor And Decor. On a side note, Dave was downright fun to work with too. He's got a great sense of humor, which is a plus when you're working through something as invasive as a bathroom remodel. We ended up with a master bathroom that is a real showpiece. I will happily recommend David Wilson Construction to anybody who needs work done in their home. read more

If you want to hire the nicest guy in the world, who also happens to be extremely skilled and knowledgeable, Dave is your guy. He got our bathroom done in a very reasonable amount of time, and was very conscientious of the fact that it was our only bathroom and the inconvenience that would cause us. He gave us sound advice and guidance throughout the whole process, and really valued us understanding what was going on and why. Which we REALLY appreciated it. He always took the time to explain something we didn't understand and was very patient. Our bathroom was a moist dungeon before Dave got his hands on it. It didn't have a window, the tub was a plastic insert type of tub with a plastic bar inside. The floor was old vinyl that had seen better days. The toilet seat's lid was coming off. We hated it. And Dave worked his magic and gave us the bathroom of our dreams. I enjoy being in my bathroom now. Instead of taking the quickest shower possible I now take a long bath every single day. We can't thank Dave enough for his professionalism and skill. We have since hired him for other jobs around our house and have and will continue to recommend him to anyone in need of a good contractor. read more

Highly recommend David Wilson for remodels. He just finished remodeling my shower and I am very ...very... pleased with the outcome. I had been wanting to remodel it for some time now, but took my time deciding on the right person or company. What I liked about David, is that he did the entire remodel. I felt very comfortable with him being in the home when I was gone, not to mention that he entertained my cry baby dog who loved him to death. I had to literally lock my dog away because she would not leave him alone. David recommended a few places to get the materials and I ended going with Floor and Décor. They were very helpful and helped me with the design and materials. Very different from what I had originally had in mind. One other thing, his price was less than the other bid I received. You may have to wait awhile for him, as he is busy, but I didn't have a problem with that because I wanted the right person. Best to call him instead of through Yelp. I didn't get a response through Yelp, but immediately when I called. I have posted some pictures of the before and after of my shower remodel. I just love it. read more

This was long overdue, but my house looks amazing! Thank you David! David and his brother worked long into the night to complete the work on my house so I could move back in as quickly as possible. They totally transformed my living room. They tore out a wall and rerouted a gas line and electrical switches, fixed my subfloor and added beautiful baseboards and door casings. David even fixed the window casing without me even asking to have it match the newly done door casings. I'm in love. Thank you! PS, don't mind all the clutter around the house in the "after" photo. read more

Not only is David and his crew excellent craftsmen, they are outstanding humans. I hired David to update a bathroom and ended up hiring him to do a second one. I am beyond pleased with both. Excellent craftswork. Realistic expectations on timeline to complete. Very responsive to questions. Goes above and beyond. He even over bid the job both times and I ended up spending less than he estimated. He has a unique way of breaking down the bid, but once I understood his process, it gave me a lot of freedom in my choices and ultimately cost less on somethings than anticipated. If you are looking for a hard working crew that are honest, respectful and have an eye for detail, then I fully recommend David Wilson Construction. PS - will be having them back to do my kitchen in the future! read more

After a frustrating remodel experience a year ago, I was very hesitant to finish my bathrooms. The thought of yet another stranger in my home, and the stress of timing and costs had me nervous. However I met with three contractors for bids, and David was my top choice. He was professional, kind, knowledgeable, within my budget, and put my mind at ease immediately. His work was impeccable, he was on schedule, and we just wrapped up....both bathrooms are beautiful!!! I'm so happy I got it done. Pretty disappointed. After coming highly recommended from a co-worker, I suspect he's too busy and doesn't do enough of the work himself to have good quality control and follow through. The main remodeling work was sound and satisfactory, and the structural and technical work seemed good. Communication during the project was good and a lot of effort was made to get the right materials and help with choosing the right things. All of this I really appreciated. However, the finish work like painting, grouting, caulking and wall texture were often sloppy and rushed. I had to touch up a lot of bad painting and dings in places that were not as obvious at first glance. But we live here, so of course we'd eventually notice. It seems a shame to do such a poor job at the finish work after so much effort. I did give them numerous opportunities to fix things...and they did fix some things, but just didn't seem to want to bother to spend a little extra time to make the details right. The last time I contacted him, to fix the grout, he never showed up. Unfortunately, I won't be hiring them for our kitchen. read more

David came out very quick after my husband contacted him about putting in a doggy door in our wall. The wall had previous damage from a palm tree getting too large and broke through the stucco. This I'm sure was a small job for David, but he was very professional and he did a wonderful job. He finished the job in just a few short hours. First of all, this review is long overdue! Sorry to David for taking so long! We cannot say enough good things about David and David Wilson Construction and give him our highest recommendation! We first met David in the summer of 2018 when we were soliciting bids for the renovation of our master bathroom. We found David on Yelp and were impressed by the photos we saw of his work and his 5-star rating. He definitely lived up to his reputation! Here are things that you should know about David: 1. He is easy to get in touch with and a great communicator. He responds to phone calls and texts; we had no trouble setting meetings with him and he was always on time. 2. His prices are fair and transparent. He provides an easy-to-follow cost breakdown and payments are made in installments (so whenever he completes one of the items on the list is when payment is due). He also educated us about rules for dealing with contractors in general which were very helpful to us as construction newbies! 3. He provided helpful recommendations about many of the construction choices (materials, brands, design, etc.) but never pushed us in one particular direction. 4. He is mindful and respectful of client concerns. Our daughter was born just before the renovation was started and we were worried about lead, asbestos, and construction dust in the house. David worked with us and our abatement team to make sure our house was safe for when we all moved back in. 5. He (and his brother, Keith, the other half of his crew) worked nights and weekends to make sure the job was done on time, enabling us to move back in! It is not easy to be away from home with a newborn and we are so thankful to David for the long hours he put it to get it done! 6. The finished product was beautiful (photos below)! Perhaps the most important thing to know about David is that he is a true craftsman and takes pride in his work. We are so happy with our new master bath! We would absolutely hire David again and would recommend him to friends! We already have a list of projects that we want him to work on. Thank you, David read more

We lived in our house for four years and finally decided we could no longer live with our bathroom. I won't go into all the reasons, but it was a mess. The house was built in 1925 with only one bathroom so we needed to get it right. We contacted five contractors to bid for the job. Of the five, two would only talk to us on the phone, and one company sent an 'estimator' who could not answer any of our basic questions. When David arrived, one of the first things he did was crawl under the house to get a full understanding of the job. This impressed me mightily. Of all the bids, his was the most detailed and certainly the best overall pricing. Deciding to go with David wasn't a hard choice to make. This was a learning experience for us as we had a number of decisions to make. But David was always there with expert advice every step of the project. We basically got everything we asked for, and more. David took it down to floor joists and studs and built us an amazing bathroom. We couldn't be happier. The old bathroom was an embarrassment but now it's a room that draws nothing but compliments (and envy). I can only imagine the increased dollar value this has added to our home. David is a master builder. He is incredibly knowledgeable in every aspect of construction. I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

David has done multiple projects for my house, some smaller and some much more complicated and both my wife and I were beyond satisfied with all of the work he has done. He is a licensed general contractor and has fixed plumbing issues, installed indoor and outdoor gas lines, along with a new stove top and he took down an old chandelier and put up a new Restoration Hardware light in it's place. He is experienced, knowledgeable and most importantly honest. I plan on using him for all of my future remodel projects and construction needs. read more

David was recommended to us by some friends. We recently hired him to remodel our kitchen and install a new floor in a bathroom. We couldn't be happier with the results. In the kitchen, David had to deal with the weirdnesses of an old house where nothing ever seemed to be straight and no angle was ever 90 degrees. He installed new counters and backsplash, a new sink and faucet, and a new cooktop and hood. Installing the cooktop and hood required him to make significant alterations to our existing vintage cabinetry. He did this wonderfully and it all looks like it was there from the beginning. In the bathroom, David removed the old vinyl flooring only to discover significant dry rot (again, it's an old house). After replacing the subfloor, he installed an intricate tile floor in a complicated mosaic pattern that is just beautiful. In addition to the high quality of his work, I'll add that David is a really nice guy to work with and a true professional who shows up and gets the work done when he says he will. I highly recommend him and plan on hiring him again for future projects. read more

Alright, so my husband and I own a house built in 1960 and have had done a lot of work on it since we purchased it back in 2015. The kitchen needed help, but it still functioned and there were other projects on our priority list to tackle. Time finally came to get the kitchen and flooring throughout the house to get an uplift. After trying to get in touch with a few other contractors, and getting a couple bids we decided on David. He was the quickest, reasonable price, and honestly, the most down to earth. He was professional, honest, and, had a lot of the same concerns we did. This man was clearly very experienced. He was several weeks booked out, but, we've waited 7 years, what's another 2 months? Turned out wonderfully! We had time to purchase the important material and appliances to come in time for him and he was great with communication. David came with his team of Ryan and Jared and tackled it all! Total stellar men, hard working, quick and respectful of my home. Very kind and personable. Any concerns I had, they were more than willing to address them. We were able to save money on keeping the original cabinets, and David even made it possible for us to cook in our kitchen during the duration of the remodel with a hooked up sink and range. That was huge! End result, I love cooking in my kitchen and my new floors are so easy to clean! Plan on using them again for a future project! read more

David is awesome! Not only did he come out and give me a bid very quickly, but he worked with me on the price so that I could get the project done. Even though it was a relatively small project (basically tiling a corner shower stall), he treated it very importantly. He did a beautiful job, made some great suggestions for tiling, and was done within the timeframe he said (if not earlier). I also appreciated that David treated me like an equal - I asked tons of questions and he was not condescending whatsoever. He spent 1.5 hours with me just giving me a bid! I can tell when someone is dismissing me, and David certainly did not. I will use David for future projects, and highly recommend him. read more

Dave has completed a few projects for me, including a bathroom addition, bathroom remodel, and moving a couple walls. He is always professional and friendly. I appreciate that he was never too busy to answer my questions or treat me respectfully. As a single female homeowner, I did not have the same experience with other contractors. It was an absolute pleasure working with David Wilson. We knew we wanted a major remodel of our dated master bathroom, but didn't have a clear idea of the project. Other contractors spent minimal amounts of time with us and weren't interested in our ideas regarding the end goal. David worked with us to come up with a realistic and functional design that we were very pleased with. He rearranged the plumbing and electrical systems, custom built a marble shower, installed beautiful frameless glass, installed a vanity and toilet, and also enlarged our master closet to walk-in size. It was such an enjoyable experience working with David that we also had him take care of various other issues throughout the house after he was finished with the remodel.
