John was able to come by on short notice and look at our project. He was confident in his ability and gave us a timeframe of 3 months and finished in 2 and a half, which was surprising given the size of the project. Painting 1st half of home, which he finished before any other company could arrive on site. Removal of huge load-bearing wall and replacing with a 26 foot beam! Full kitchen remodel, and turning an office and utility bathroom into a master suite with a walk in closet and a separate laundry room. Plus new flooring through most of the home and large amount of drywall replacement. John and his team was not only able to remove the load-bearing wall, but they also raised the dropped ceiling in the kitchen, which made a HUGE difference in the final product. But beyond just doing what we asked, he had invaluable suggestions that we were really grateful for, such as sectioning off a foyer area in our open floor plan, changing the grout on the kitchen tile so that it wouldn't stain so easily, the type of wall paint needed that wasn't glossy, but was easy to clean, and countless other details. As we worked with him, we learned to trust his esthetic eye and input, and we couldn't be happier with the results! Our friends and family were all very impressed such a renovation could be done it that short of a window, and done well. The cabinets installed are very high quality with soft close hardware we just love. Custom built pantry and insta hot system for the sink. He worked with us to come up with solutions and kept the job moving every day. Would highly recommend!

I have nothing but praise and thanks for John Burns and his crew. He did a huge remodel in my 1900 sq. ft. home, including removal of an interior wall and raising a ceiling to create an open concept kitchen, overhauling 2.5 bathrooms, and transforming and updating my entire house. He and his crew work FAST, their craftsmanship is exceptional, they're always friendly, and they finished ON TIME. I am over the moon happy with the work they did, and I will 100% use them again for any of my future construction needs. Such an amazing remodel experience with them. Thank you Burns Construction!

John and his crew are literally THE BEST! Everyone is so friendly and respectful. Even though John is busy he always makes time to communicate. I always felt like I was listened to. There was great attention to detail every step of the way. Everything ran so smoothly. His bid was fair and we stayed right on budget. We are so grateful and appreciative of our new kitchen, new bath and newly constructed half bath. We love it!

BEFORE2

We are extremely happy with our expanded and remodeled kitchen that was completed by Burns Construction. We went back and forth for about a year with John Burns, getting other quotes, rethinking the job, and changing aspects of the plan before we finally moved forward. During that time John never failed to return my calls, answer my questions, ballpark me additional costs, and put me in contact with various folks to price out different aspects of the job. It was a fairly complicated project but it never fazed John and he was always straight forward, reasonable, and honest about the cost and the work that would need to take place. We started work at the end of Feb 2020 and about a third of the way through found ourselves in Coronavirus self isolation. I'd like to extend an extra thank you to John and his amazing crew for adapting and continuing  working where possible under very difficult circumstances. The quality of work and professionalism from all the crew that helped complete the project was top notch. I never had any hesitation to trust any of the crew in our home and they were all really polite and pleasant as well as being highly skilled tradesmen. The majorly disruptive parts of the job were completed in a very reasonable amount of time and every little detail of things was finalized before the last payment installment. If you are looking for an honest and reasonable contractor with a highly skilled crew to do a professional job then definitely check out Burns Construction. You should know what you want and be mostly clear about the plan before you undertake the work. This is a general contractor not an interior designer. I would not hesitate to have John and his crew back to work with us again on future projects even after multiple weeks of being under construction and back and forth with John during a global pandemic! Thank you Burns Construction.

Hello I'm not any Yelper by any means. What can I say, other that John and his most awesome, professional, honest, top notch quality crew did an amazing kitchen remodel for us. John and his crew were always on time, on schedule, worked clean, communicated and delivered. John was always accommodating if we had something in mind that wasn't considered. Not to mention the reciprocal honesty and guidance John gave on what would work and wouldn't. My wife and I could not be any more happier with our kitchen outcome. John made this the best construction work experience. The compliments that we have received from all that come over is nothing short of amazing. John, Matt, Joe, Gabe, Jeff, the counter top crew and anyone else I forgot. Thank you, thank you for such an amazing job. We have more work for you!

I found this company on yelp and called them based on their good reviews. I have now completed a pretty massive remodel and couldn't be happier. Quality work at a reasonable price and this team has literally made my dream a reality. I have to admit I can be nit picky and even in these times they worked with me and catered to my every wish! Huge shoutout to John who since the beginning was very responsive and timely and honest. I've now recommended them to multiple friends that they've done jobs for and I can't say enough about them. Sadly I have found in recent days that this level of service and communication is hard to come by and it blew me away. Here are some of my after photos for reference.

Wonderful new shower installed by Burns Construction! Great craftsmanship and awesome customer service!

John and his crew are absolutely amazing! I had Burns Construction replace my master bath shower with a walk-in shower. Travertine subway tile, pebble floor, glass tile inlay, floating shelves, glass doors, and a rain shower head were all installed by true craftsmen who took the time to do it right. Would recommend John and his crew to anyone needing remodel work done right!

The gorgeous finished masterpiece!

Also...for the first two projects we got quotes from other companies and Good Life was the best. For the third project we didn't bother looking around. Jason has been our main point of contact, and he is absolutely amazing. He is a great communicator, always comes up with smart solutions to any issue, and genuinely cares about the quality of the finished product. His customer service is top-notch. On top of that, the guys on-site, Yaro and Everett, were both fantastic to work with and did incredible work. Even the staff answering the phones are helpful and friendly every time you call. They work fast and actually stick to the schedule, but the main thing that sets them apart is their honesty. I think it's rare to find a contractor you can 100% trust, but they have earned that trust completely. We love this company and will absolutely keep using them for all our future projects!

1 Star: The Patio Looks Nice, but That's About It!…read more While I will admit that the finished patio looks nice, that is honestly the only positive thing I can say about my experience with this construction company. The construction has been ongoing for months at Greenhaven Oaks Apartments, and the lack of professionalism, communication, and respect for residents' personal property has been extremely disappointing. During construction, workers damaged my children's belongings, including my daughter's baby carriage and my child's bicycle. Nobody even had the decency to notify me that my child's bike had been broken. They also put a hole through my living room wall, which was eventually patched but left unpainted and unfinished. What is especially frustrating is what happened to my children's recycling. I have been teaching my kids responsibility by having them sort and separate our recyclables on their own. They worked hard to organize everything, separating the materials and bagging them up properly. We had seven bags of recyclables ready to go. The following weekend, we lost access to our backyard because of the construction, and we still have not regained access. Now, only one bag of glass bottles remains. I have no idea what happened to everything else. This was not just a pile of recyclables. It was something my children took the time and effort to organize as part of learning responsibility, and now their hard work has essentially disappeared without any explanation. I have already reported these issues to my apartment management, including the damaged baby carriage. A nice-looking patio does not excuse damaged property, missing belongings, poor communication, or a complete lack of accountability. Residents should not have to discover damage to their belongings or repeatedly complain just to have their concerns acknowledged. At the end of the day, the patio may look good, but the way this company treated residents and their belongings was anything but professional. The finished product might deserve five stars, but the overall experience deserves one.

I have done a lot of work over the years and am happy to say that if you live in this area, he is your guy. He was fair and honest from the get go. The price he gives you is the price you will pay. I never received any surprise "change orders". As contractors go, Omar was VERY open and communicative. No problems ever getting him or his crew on the phone. He had great suggestions on all things we discussed. Always seemed to know a lot about his work and various things people like. The project was a big one, and I am super happy with how fast it went. He even got started for us over Thanksgiving and Xmas, and his crew would show up on Saturday or Sunday sometimes to keep on working (which was fine with us!). There were no subcontractors involved... everything was through Noor Construction. If we had any minor issues that needed correcting, Omar would come and look at it and tell his crew what to do. We really appreciate the details, crown molding and trim was superbly done, and the tile was just amazing, we are very impressed with his team. I mean seriously anyone who has attempted to do crown molding in the past knows what I am talking about. For details if you've made it this far, our story: Where shall I start. I suppose we start with the idea: build a bedroom in the second floor space of our "great room" which has really tall ceilings... like 30 feet plus. So basically add a bedroom in the second story "empty space" above the first floor. Easy right? Well, after getting ghosted by several contractors, I finally called Omar. He informed he thought we were probably getting ghosted because the architect had told him that footings were needed to support this new bedroom which would be sort of like an island in the middle of the house. We live on a hill, so these support columns would have to go through the first floor, basement, and then under the house. This added to the cost, but we really wanted a bedroom in that space. Omar gave me a price. I told him no thanks, my wife and I thought well maybe we changed our mind as the cost came in higher with the footing work. After a few weeks, we talked it over, changed our minds. We really needed the bedroom. I called him, thinking "gosh he probably won't want our work". Omar came back, no change in price, same deal as before, he didn't even bat an eye, he was ready to go, and this was like 4 weeks later after I told him no. So yea, it was project that I was told was too much for people, everyone didn't want to go get permits or deal with the footings... Omar told us what to expect and stuck to the plan. He dealt with the County and the inspector always came and said even himself "these guys know what they are doing". We passed all inspections. Omar even was super flexible about adding things to the project as we went along, as you know I get ideas about what I might want, we added some carpeting and shelving, and additional tile work that he added at no additional cost to him. He really just knows what he is doing and is super on top of things. So go with Noor Construction if you have the chance, you won't regret it!

It was a massive project that stripped things down almost to the studs. Overall, it was a 5-star experience and we're really happy with the final result. One of the things they did exceptionally well was the upfront planning. They scanned the house and worked off our Pinterest boards to build a digital 3D model first. Being able to iterate on that digital model before any demolition started meant my wife and I could nail down the aesthetics and know exactly what to expect. Once construction was underway, jobsite cleanliness was great, and living through the disruption was about as tolerable as a major renovation can be. Olive Homes handled all the Folsom city permitting and inspections without too much friction on our end. Whenever unforeseen issues popped up--as they always do with major renos--they came to us proactively with solid ideas and solutions. On top of that, they actually finished on budget (slightly under budget, in fact), which is pretty rare for a project of this scale. The main downside was the timeline. The project took longer than both we and Olive Homes expected. Their primary team and main subcontractors were top-notch, but some of those main subs hired secondary subcontractors below them. That extra layer caused communication breakdowns--there were days when secondary subs didn't show up when expected, and some of their work was lower quality and had to be redone. The prime contractor was very empathetic and considerate throughout, stepping in to ensure re-works were handled properly, but those secondary sub issues definitely caused delays. At the end of the day, the finished product turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship is high quality, and we've gotten a ton of compliments from family and neighbors. We've made our final payments and expect to do our 1-year warranty checkup punch list soon, but we are genuinely very happy with our home and would recommend Olive Homes to anyone looking for a solid, honest local contractor.

Getting estimates is the most annoying part when starting a project. Contractors either ghost you…read moreor give you a very unreasonable estimate. Olive homes is different. Ellie, the estimator, is an amazing person. She's been so professional and willing to work with our budget unlike other contractors who just ghosted me after learning what my budget was. Even though we won't be able to move forward with the project at this time due to shifting priorities to another project, we will only consider olive homes when we are ready. Thank you Ellie!
