Goodlife recently replaced our roof and we couldn't be happier. Before they started the project, they filed for the permits, explained the process and allowed us to choose the type and color of the shingles, gutters and soffits. They cleaned up at the end of every work day. When we thought they were done, they came back out and touched up the paint where it needed it and rehung the cable/phone lines and exterior lighting. If you're looking for a reliable contractor, look elsewhere. I contacted Good Life based on the great reviews online. Their admin person is very responsive and got back to me right away to schedule an estimate for our project, which consisted of a lot of smaller stuff on a new home. The estimator was scheduled to come out between 12 and 1 on Monday, August 24. We hurried back from a camping trip to make it on time. When he didn't arrive by 1:13, I followed up. I got a call right away saying he couldn't make it until around 3. 3:00 rolled around and I get another call saying he couldn't make it until 4:30. Third time's the charm, I guess - he did finally show up at the end of the day, walked the project, and said they would love to handle it for us. He promised an itemized bid by Thursday. Thursday rolled around. Crickets. Friday. Nothing. I emailed again on Sunday to check on the status of the quote, and got an email back Monday morning saying, "The proposal is still in progress on our end. However, I just reached out to the estimator for an update on when it is expected to be completed. Our proposals typically take 3-5 business days, so you should receive it sometime this week." Fast forward to the end of Friday and still nothing. 9 business days, no quote, no updates, after completely blowing the initial appointment. Very disappointing. read more

We had signs of fungus (like a small flat mushroom) coming through a seam in our bay window that had been hidden by the blinds. I knew this wasn't good, as fungus means moisture and dead stuff (old wood). Thankfully this isn't a "M word" story (mold). But anyone would be concerned by a weird intrusion like this so I had Good Life come out and check it out. I had been dealing with real estate recently, and I was somewhat familiar with Good Life for home inspections so I gave them a shot at this repair. Project Manager Eugene arrived with one of the construction crew and they explained what they could do to assess the problem. We scheduled them to come out and pull off some drywall and do a moisture test. The next day they were able to confirm that water was getting into the wall from a part of the outside stucco and had caused extensive dry rot down to the studs. Obviously, this is where it sounds expensive. Eugene explained in detail what needed to be done to repair the damage and to prevent a future leak. He emailed me a detailed repair with a reasonable estimate, including an up front discussion on change orders that may need to be made. I approved the estimate online and felt confident that the guys knew what they were doing. Over the next week or so the crew from Good Life worked efficiently and professionally to remove the old stucco, wood and insulation and treat the fungus affected area which about 10 feet high by 8 feet wide on the exterior. Eugene called or updated me on the daily progress in-person and was very professional. The crew was Ukrainian and spoke some English along the way but Eugene and a couple others explained everything clearly. After a couple of detailed change orders the crew put the front of the house back together with fresh wood, insulation, stucco and a brick veneer that looked especially challenging. I was very impressed with the crew's versatility in how those guys were able make the house look the same down to the paint and the landscaping that was in front. Good Life did great work and made my house look good as new. They worked quickly and effectively and left a very clean result inside and outside. The cost was a good value for the amount of work I saw completed and the attention to detail. I would definitely call Good Life again for repairs, but hopefully we're done with anything at this level. Great job guys. read more

I have had them repaint the exterior of my home and install 2 new front doors and new overhead lighting and fans throughout my home. I used Good Life Construction to remodel my mother-in-law's bathroom. We needed to convert a tub shower combo to a walk-in-shower. We needed a small lip and wanted the shower to be widened. Our goal was to get this done within the next month and at a low cost so that she could continue to care for herself since she is in her 80's and was no longer able to get in the tub easily. We took several bids but Good Life Co Rep (Serge) came out and seemed to listen to what we wanted and needed. He was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Their bid was competitive and one of the cheaper ones but I felt like I was going to be taken care of by a good team. Serge and the admin team were very communicative by email and we scheduled the work in a timely manner. The work took 3 days and was exactly what we needed. The crews were clean and nice. The put the grab bars exactly as we specified and wanted the adjustable shower head for later when we have to add a shower chair. Overall, a great experience at a reasonable price. Good Life Construction replaced the back deck and siding, including window trim, at my house in Sacramento. The finished product looks great. The Sales Manager (Slavic) and Project Manager (Valentin) were very helpful in answering questions and doing things to my satisfaction. The crew was polite and did excellent work. Language problems were handled by calling the managers or using the iPhone translator. The work was done within the cost and time estimates. A different company called TOV Permit and Plans drafted the plans and obtained the required city permits. Contacts were Susanna & Liana. They kept me updated weekly while waiting 2-3 months to get permits before the work could begin. When we expanded the scope of work, they accurately estimated that it would take two weeks to get the revised permit, and they handled everything. Requested a quote through Yelp and was put on schedule asap. Roman came out and gave us an estimate for full demo, build out and redesign of our tiny owners suite bathroom. We choose GLC because their bid was in the middle of the 3 we received, and Roman seemed the most knowledgeable, professional and personable. We are SO GLAD we went with GLC and Roman! We were so impressed with his team (David specifically), their efficiency and timeliness. The project started when I was 32 weeks pregnant, and absolutely needed to be done asap. They were helpful throughout the process and helped us problem solve some design dilemmas. I do not recommend this company. To start they didn't even pull permits for our siding, dry rot and termite repair project. They used low quality, rough cut, 3/8 inch plywood, that people use on sheds for our siding. The result we received a mis matched patch job. You can see in pictures it's the bottom siding and top in some parts. During the remodel they cut our cable wires and stuffed them into the walls costing us money to have that fixed. They also didn't re hang our numbers or light fixtures. The trim paint is also mis matched in color it's like they just left some of it primed. When I initially reached out this company they sent out a sales person. Our original goal and vision for our 950 sq ft house was to up our curb appeal the best we could and we were thinking stucco. The sales man talked us out of that and convinced us just patching would be better. Even though we had a 30k budget for the project. He ensured us patching it was a great option, that it would make the outside of the house "look new" once it was all painted. As you can see from the pictures it does not look new, it looks like a bad patch job. When we first saw the house we were not happy with it and reached out. The response we received was "after more years of paint it will match better" I had to push to have someone come out and put on another layer of paint. It appears when they did they used a roller because now the seams have disappeared. Good Life kept telling us "that's the only siding we could have used" Since then I have hired two contractors to come out and take a look at the house. Both companies were appalled at the work that the was done and the prices we were charged. They told us for that price we should've received all new siding, the rot repair and the barges. The other companies showed us the siding options that should have be used so it matched. So bottom is this company put on the wrong siding and has offered us no solution and is lying to us about how "There was no other option" Take your money elsewhere. Update: 8/8 A sales manager came out to talk to us and "make things better" by basically just explaining how great of a job his team did. Told us there is no better siding and offered us little to no solution. He mentioned our review multiple times and it felt like all they cared about was us removing this review. Wouldn't be surprised if others have after their pressure. Update 8/22 Our original sales person/sales manager came out. He like the other guy proceeded to tell us the crappy plywood was all that could be used because it's all that came in 3/8 inch or 19/32 thickness. Thankfully we have done research and contacted other professionals to know this is absolutely not true. They offered no solution and were once again just banking on us the customer not knowing any better. read more
