We chose JC as our general contractor for a full kitchen renovation, after getting bids from 6 GCs/vendors. The price was very competitive and even included a few thoughtful amenities we didn't originally consider. Nick and his team from JC did a fantastic job with our kitchen and created exactly what we wanted, finishing the entire job well before the estimated completion date. Each phase was handled quickly and professionally with great communication and no surprises. The design process was excellent and very helpful to see our options and get advice on what would work best with our space (CJ, our designer, was fantastic to work with). They made sure they had all materials on hand before starting demo, minimizing our kitchen downtime. Demo was fast, and the following material installation happened in quick succession. Teams coming to the house were friendly, timely and professional. Any questions or changes needed were handled swiftly and easily over a quick call with Nick, and then put in play immediately. Overall- we are thrilled with our new kitchen, and we would 100% use JC again in the future for any renovation needs. Highly recommended.

Conformation of appointment that they didn't show up for.

They confirmed an appointment with me for noon today but they never showed up. Tried calling but unable to reach anyone by phone. How would I trust them with a construction project when they cannot keep an appointment commitment?

We paid JC Construction $8000 to re-do our kitchen cabinets and sink, however, they cheated us and did not do the work up to industry standards. Less than a year later the sink is falling out of its place and we have a huge leak. We informed JC Construction since we had an active warranty with them, however, JC Construction was very hostile and ignored us. We reported them to the licensing board, and we WON the claim. JC Construction was fined $840 in fees, which does not fully cover the damages. However, we are taking them to small claims court and we have another active investigation with their bond. It has been a year since we started this claim, it has been hell dealing with JC construction. If you are considering this company, TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN THE OTHER WAY. We feel cheated, scammed, and out of luck. We are glad that the licensing board recognized JC Construction mistakes and fined them. However, the battle continues. I'm hoping that this review helps even just 1 person. Literally 90% of the reviews are from the owner's family and relatives, we were cheated into thinking these were genuine 5-star reviews. After our incident I went back to read some of the reviews and we recognized a lot of the names are either company employees or relatives of the owner. BE WARE. This company is a home owner's nightmare!

Our bed frame moved repeatedly without being dissembled or protected

Jc Construction was contracted to perform the water/mold mitigation and restoration in our condo (we are tenants) after an upstairs neighbor's toilet overflowed. The water ran undiscovered for 4 hours and required our master bath to be demo'd as well as our living room walls. We were asked to get a hotel while the wet areas were disinfected and the fans and dehumidifiers ran (estimated time was 4 days). After that time we would be able to continue residing in the condo as it's a two bed, two bath and only one bath was affected. We came back the same night to grab some items we left to find that no disinfectant, fans or dehumidifiers were ever placed in our unit. This was a Friday and we assumed perhaps they would bring the mitigation equipment over the weekend or even the following Monday. No one showed up. The condo continued to remain wet for 4 days before someone arrived, not to mitigate- but to start the repairs. They continued to rebuild without taking care to assure the structure was dry, mold free, and safe. No county building permits, no mitigation, no consideration for the family paying $2000.00 per month to reside in the unit. This review is not meant to evaluate the poor/dangerous quality of work as I have no invested interest in the property. This review's sole purpose is to advise others about the company's cavalier and unprofessional behaviors during their time in our home. We were instructed to move our person items and that our large bed would be padded, protected and moved by Nick's crew. The bed was the only item that remained in the room. We had completely moved into our second bedroom. They didn't dissemble the bed. They moved the entire king frame as a whole unit and stood it up against a wall with finished edges dragging against the concrete. They also broke all 4 bolt locations at each corner. Nick saw the damage and told us he would have it repaired or replaced- this never happened. The bed was destroyed and is now in the landfill. In the living room we had 2 other pieces of furniture covered in caulk, paint overspray, and wall texture. One chest was caved in after being used as a step stool. Again, Nick saw the damage and said he would reimburse us. This never happened. Our new rug was taken out of a folded pile on our couch and used for a drop cloth for the tile setting crew. The crew apologized and said they would replace it. This never happened. We were absolutely ok with the crews using our second bath while they worked. They are good hard working guys. We were not ok to come home to our trash can being filled with their feces. We don't know the reason for them leaving their stool at the top of our bathroom trash can. We let Nick know and he said he would talk to the crews. The next night... even worse. Even more fecal matter piled to the top of the can. Brazen, unbelievable and definitely on purpose. After this I installed a keyed lock to limit the bathroom use. On top of having to look and smell what the crews had for dinner the night before we also had no barrier plastic to keep the rest of the condo protected from the drywall dust. I'm a contractor myself, and I was completely shocked to come home to a thick layer of dust on every item we own. I would never do business this way, and can't understand how Nick is able to. The demo trash was left in our condo exterior hallway for over a week. Broken mirrors with neighboring children having to pass by. The crews scraped out their lunch bowls daily into the pile. The neighbors repeatedly asked it to be removed, and Nick came up with a new excuse daily as to why it remained. Moldy wet carpet stayed rolled up in our master closet for two weeks. The smell was terrible. Our house key was handed off to different people who would show up at random times and open the door without knocking. We tried to be accommodating and understood that the repairs need to take place, but we did request some kind of schedule. We lost all trust in Nick. We watched him attempt to fraud the insurance company (wetting walls with the sink tap so that his moisture meter would show wet in areas that were indeed dry and undamaged). We saw him completely disregard State contractor law ( no permits for a full bath demo and replacement) Nick has caused an incredible amount of disruption to my family. He doesn't care, and now doesn't respond. I called him from my wife's phone number to discuss the $1040.00 dollars he owes for our property damage and as soon as he knew who was calling he just hung up on me. I have attached photos of our experience.

Nick and the JC Construction team were everything we could have asked for in a general contractor. This was our first large-scale remodel project and we were unsure about the proper approach. I received several quotes from local general contracting companies. All other companies were subpar in character and vision. Our first meeting with Nick showed his enthusiasm and love for his work. I asked a simple question at the end of each meeting with the companies I had met with. "Do you enjoy your work?" Nick was the only contractor who responded with positivity, passion, and eagerness. Nick's fervor for his craft was represented in his design, ideas, and vision for our project. We had a rough plan for our home remodel which included the replacement of our floors, entire kitchen, walk-in pantry, and overhead electrical. Throughout the process and planning, my wife and I grew very accustomed to Nicks catch phrase "No problem, we can do it." Nick and his crew were cooperative, high energy, and motivated throughout the entirety of the remodeling project. Our finished project has been such a joy for my friends and family. We are proud to show the work JC Construction is responsible for. My wife and I can be considered small-scale perfectionists. From small scratches to complete changes in the remodel, Nick continued to accommodate and stayed completely flexible to our plans. Nick and his team stayed completely motivated and positive despite any of our requests to change, add, and modify work they had already completed. If you are considering any home remodel or construction project, you won't regret giving JC Construction a chance to showcase its talents for making your home dream come true. It should be noted, I had received no less than five quotes from other companies, and JC Construction provided the most competitive quote. I know Nick and the JC Construction team applied their skill and care to our home project which produced a quality and beautiful product in the end.

We love it! Great job by Nick and Andres, would recommend for your bathroom remodel.

We love it! Great job by Nick and Andres, would recommend for your bathroom remodel. New counter, tile and fixtures.

Excellent company, quality work, project was completed on schedule. They helped me turn a very small downstairs powder room (61"x64") into a beautiful, full ADA type bathroom with a curbless shower using the existing footprint! They took my all of my ideas and made them a reality. This was a great investment to help us age in place. I will hire JC Construction again. Nick and his crew are super trustworthy. I feel like I definitely got my moneys worth! 10/10!

JV Cabinets

From the very first visit, Paul set himself apart from other contractors I had met with -- he arrived fully prepared with a variety of material and color samples, thoroughly explained the refacing process, covered warranty details, took measurements, and even designed the layout, all in a single appointment. There was never any pressure to sign, which I genuinely appreciated. When questions came up after his visit, Paul responded quickly with a phone call followed by a detailed email complete with photos and examples. That level of follow-through is hard to find. Once I signed the contract, Jaime came by to confirm measurements and listen to my ideas, translating them into a well-defined project plan. The results speak for themselves -- everything was completed ahead of schedule. The cabinet refacing surpassed my expectations, and the material we selected not only looks stunning but feels great and is effortless to clean. The new coffee bar in the living room has become an absolute showstopper, and the added cabinets in the laundry area are both practical and well-crafted. Miguel, who handled the final installation, was a true professional -- communicative, courteous, and a pleasure to have in our home. The team wrapped up with a thorough walk-through and left everything immaculate. I've already recommended JV Cabinets to friends and family, and I would do so again without hesitation.

We chose JV Cabinets because we specifically wanted solid wood cabinetry with a painted finish, and…read moreat the time, we believed we were paying for higher quality. After completing the project and later comparing with other options, it became clear that the pricing was not aligned with the level of quality we received. The paint has started rubbing off within a year, the drawer hardware feels very low quality (mostly plastic), and the drawers did not close properly from the installation. The drawer slides and soft-close mechanisms are low quality, feel cheap and unreliable, and the slide system doesn't function properly. With our prior Ikea drawers, which had metal throughout, that was never an issue. These are fundamental issues that should not occur at this price point. Support was also a challenge. Communication felt defensive, and we had to follow up multiple times just to get someone to come out for fixes. Based on our experience, we would not recommend JV Cabinets. There are other providers offering solid wood cabinets with noticeably better build quality and finish for similar, or lower cost.

I totally recommend Sacramento Millworks. Skip the big box kitchen designers, and contractors using…read morestock cabinets and call Raymond! I love my kitchen and I've also approached him about a future project. I had a basic 1970's era condo kitchen-outdated but can't really change the footprint. I tried to revive it with refacing. It still didn't function well, but I worked around it. A leak in the wall behind the cabinets, forced an unexpected remodel. I received estimates from several contractors using stock or RTA "IKEA" kitchen cabinets. The cabinets I saw in these stores did not seem as sturdy as my existing cabinets. I couldn't customize and would have similar unusable spaces where the pre-made cabinets are put together. The contractors and pre-made cabinet stores told me custom cabinets would cost twice as much as their estimates. While looking for design ideas, I saw multiple Houzz and Reddit posts stating a local carpenter could give me custom cabinets at a much better price. I am so glad I paid attention to the posts! That's how I found Sacramento Millworks. His price for my project was comparable to the quotes I received for stock cabinets. Raymond is a carpenter and a designer. Because of his experience, he handled everything. He walked me through everything, including a trip to the granite and tile shops. I just picked colors. He was very patient. Most of contractors I've worked with recently send employees to do the work. They just pop in here and there until it's time for payment. Raymond was on site working with one helper everyday. I really appreciated that!

After a quick Yelp search, we came across Elite Custom Cabinetry and Fidel was able to see what was already done and listened to what I wanted to do. He quickly understood what was needed, listened for any design input, even provided some options with regards to trim styles to be installed in between each bookcase. On the day of installation, just a few hours went by and the crown molding, various pieces of trim, and nearly perfectly matching baseboards were installed. Lots of little bits here and there were considered to truely give the appearance of a built-in library. The work was perfect, especially given where the starting line was. When the work was done, their clean up was so good, not a piece of dust was left behind. On top of everything, pricing was very reasonable. For the work that was done, the cost was very fair. I would not hesitate recommending this company to anyone looking to complete a bookshelf/library project. I am sure they do other types of work but as far as libraries go, nothing but fantastic work.

We had our kitchen remodeled using the contractors and staff at the Sacramento Kitchen Mart…read morefacility. It's hard to know where to begin because the experience with KM is so different from that experienced with typical contractors. Communication. Typically a major frustration with contractors was in fact excellent with KM. Emails and calls were returned in a timely manner and they go to great lengths to explain the process and provide a detailed timeline. Duration of work. We had gotten estimates of 4-6 months to complete our remodel; KM was finished in a little over a month. They stuck to their schedule (despite problems that arose with suppliers) and always communicated any changes that were required. They handled all of the permitting requirements, and in Davis that is not a small task. Notable is that a KM staffer came to the house the day of final inspection and looked at the whole house for potential problems. He replaced ALL of our smoke detectors at no cost just to make sure there were no problems with the inspection. The Davis inspector was very impressed with the work and passed the job without any concerns. Quality of work. We had superb craftsmen work on our project; John and Zachary and Joe were all just excellent. They took pride in their work, showed up on time, and always communicated what they were doing. They took great pains to minimize dust and overall mess. Huge sheets of plastic were placed floor to ceiling to localize the dust and debris. Sheets of protective material were placed on the floor. Everything was done in a professional manner. The supervisor of our project, Edgar, was remarkable in watching over the project and being there whenever needed. Sourcing of materials. KM can provide pretty much everything you need with regards to cabinets, fixtures and some appliances. The quality of all materials from KM was excellent and so much more convenient than searching it out on your own. I have to add, however, that their recommended appliance source, A-1 appliance, was very disappointing. A-1 failed to order our rangetop despite it being paid for well in advance, and their installers were incompetent and rude. Our project foreman, Edgar, intervened and was a lifesaver in getting a rangetop in time to prevent a major delay, and in fixing the poor installation provided by A-1. Cost. We had many estimates for our remodel and KM was far from the highest. Their estimate was very accurate and very reasonable considering the quality of work, convenience, and the speed with which the work was done. In summary, Kitchen Mart stands way way above the pack when it comes to the often tedious and stressful process of remodeling your home. They offer a one stop solution, do superb work at a reasonable price, and complete the work in a very timely fashion. We plan to have them do our bathrooms and in fact would not consider anyone else.
