As a senior citizen I really resent when contractors attempt to take advantage of me and that is exactly what happened with Express Reface. I had a sales rep come to my house and prepare a quote for a kitchen and bathroom reface and everything went well until I received a "contract" to sign before the project could begin. The first problem with the "contract" was in the fine print where it said the owner is responsible for refrigerator removal and dishwasher removal. This was quite a surprise since the express reface webpage specifically states that "there is no need to disconnect or remove appliances". When I pointed this out I was told that the workers would move the refrigerators and dishwasher but I had to "put a hand on those appliances so that it is understood that you "move" them". What kind of nonsense is that? The second problem was the contract states that "it does not cover paint and texture of existing dry wall, where old product was removed." The contract also says that they are not liable for for damage(s) arising from Contractor's work or the delivery of Project materials." So they can just tear up the house and walk away. Not their problem. But the major problem was with their payment schedule. They wanted me to pay 90% of the cost of the project for measuring and delivering materials, but before they do any install work in the home. Much of the work described is not clearly defined or verifiable. California law requires progress payments to be tied to specific, completed work. So with their contract I would have to pay 90% up front and then they could walk or do shoddy work and I would have no recourse since they have my money. Shame on "Express Reface" for trying to take advantage of me with such an unfair contract. read more

The entire crew from Express Reface, demolition, painting and installation were efficient and professional. The pre-sales service was excellent, but after we signed the contract, the customer service was horrible. The project manager, Xavier, wouldn't answer our calls; he only responded via text message--hours later, or sometimes not until the next day. Not to mention that one of the main reasons we signed the contract was the positive reviews and the fact that the project manager told me he would move the refrigerator in the kitchen, specifically because my wife would be home alone with our 2-year-old son. They ended up damaging the refrigerator, leaving two dents on the side. One of the team members even went so far as to say it wasn't their fault because they weren't paid to move the fridge--but again, I signed the contract *because* the project manager said he would perform that service; otherwise, I wouldn't have closed the deal. On top of that, there was a lack of communication between the various teams and the project manager, as well as a complete lack of follow-up from the project manager with us. Not to mention that they had to redo the work multiple times because they didn't do it right the first time--such as the bathroom sink, which kept leaking water (I had to call the store directly to get it fixed because the project manager wouldn't answer his phone). The hallway cabinet was left with sharp, poorly finished edges; they redid it a second time, but the edges remained just as sharp. So, we gave up on calling them to fix it. It felt as though we weren't customers who had paid the full price quoted, but rather people asking for a favor. Two neighbors came over to look at the cabinets, and we did not recommend the company to them. Furthermore, I have another project coming up for the break room at my company, which I will now be taking to a different company. I hope that Express Reface will at least honor their word regarding the 2-year warranty they provided; that is the bare minimum we expect--though, honestly, I hope we won't even need to use it. The team itself isn't bad, but the leadership is horrible. It was the worst customer service experience we have ever had--marked by a complete lack of communication and zero follow-through regarding both the project and the client. read more

We wanted to make our 25-year-old kitchen more with current times. I contacted Express Reface and met with Xavier in our home. What a great guy. He was responsive, and very knowledgeable. When it came time to begin project, Jodi in the office was great and followed up every time with scheduling. Calvin was the lead person for my install. He is absolutely awesome. His skill level is to be commended. I just had knee surgery, so I was in the room to watch almost the entire procedure. He is so meticulous to details. I have a new baby and wanted to make sure the paint they use is low toxin. Michelle was great at answering all my questions and my back and forth with sample colors. My only concern is that the product is laminate would will age differently than the paint of the surround cabinet over time but they do come with 5 years warranty. I also wish they had more choice in colors, would pay extra for custom colors. I have lived in my house for eight years now and have never liked the look of the kitchen. I saw a commercial for Express Reface and decided to go online to get one of their instant quotes. The price was reasonable so I decided to go forward with the next step, expecting the usual high pressure sales pitch with lots of non standard upgrades. I have 30 year old solid wood cabinets so I decided to just reface instead of replace. They did a fantastic job at first but then couldn't complete the job. The sloppiness really shows. I complained about it and the guy attempted to correct the issue but he just made it worse. They said they would come back and try again but I declined. Staying inside the line while painting is not their strong point. I would still hire them for future work with the understanding that I would either have to hire a painter to correct the details or correct it myself. At the end of the day, I felt neither satisfied nor dissatisfied. I'd place their work between a 3 and 4 star, but not a solid 4. Customer service is a 5 though and hence, I errored to a 4 in my review. read more

This company is awesome! From the estimators to the installers they were all exceptional. I was unsure about refacing but in the last minute when all my counters were removed and before getting new ones installed, I decided to move forward with refacing. I called and they got me on their schedule in a few days. With pure luck, they had an opening and so it was meant to be. They came out and in 1 day sanded, painted all boxes, and installed new doors, drawers, and shelves. It looks brand new. Even my general contractor and tile guy were impressed! Can's say enough about the customer service either. Everyone was pleasant to work with. They make their own doors at a factory here in Sacramento and guarantee the product. It truly is amazing. The process begins with a sales person coming to your home to review the colors of cabinetry that they offer. Michelle was on time and very helpful with her suggestions and polite. I knew that I would go with the company based on their reasonable price and a friend that had her kitchen done as well as another family member of hers that used Express Reface several years ago and is still loving her kitchen. During this Covid situation I appreciate that through this entire process all employees showed up in masks and the installers even arrived 15 minutes early. They were efficient with their time and did a great job of repainting the body of my existing cabinet and replaced the doors and drawers with my new shaker style. The company didn't give us the opportunity to work with them. I give one star because I sent the quote request over a week ago and no reply. The others replied within 24 hours. My thought is , if no one replies to a quote request/lead for a new client, the business is either: -Already too busy and would not be able to work on my project in a timely fashion, or -Possibly flakey and there would have been problems during the project, or -Not willing to hustle and earn my business. I got an online quote for one price, after which they came in for a formal quote and began up charging (ended up being about $2,500 more than originally quoted). The quote was still lower than replacing the cabinets outright, and they advertised they could get it done in a day, so I went ahead and entered into a contract with them to complete the refaciing of my kitchen and hall cabinets. (side note: they use a third party to complete the work). Most of the work was done as promised, but they could not get the lazy susan cabinet doors on straight (mind you they were straight before they removed them to install the new doors they made). They also did not complete all the required painting, installed drawers that were different widths from each other (they were all supposed to be the same width), and a couple of the "new" drawers they installed were damaged inside. To top it off, they also scratched up the front of my microwave (the workers denied they hit it, and I was told since I had no proof there was nothing they could do). I brought this to their attention and it took numerous phone calls and multiple additional trips back to the house to (somewhat) finish the work. Once they had my money they were ghosts and never returned calls or made any real effort to resolve the issues. After about 6-weeks, I finally just let the lazy susan and microwave issues go because I was getting nowhere with them. I see the 5-star reviews and have to wonder if they are real reviews, or if I have a higher standard for quality and workmanship than other consumers. The cabinets do look better than before, but I'm not entirely happy with the results, and I would not use them again or refer them to anyone else in the future. read more
