We used Olive Homes as our prime contractor for a full renovation of nearly our entire house in Folsom--kitchen, living room, master bedroom, master bath, laundry room, new floors, rewiring, and replumbing. It was a massive project that stripped things down almost to the studs. Overall, it was a 5-star experience and we're really happy with the final result. One of the things they did exceptionally well was the upfront planning. They scanned the house and worked off our Pinterest boards to build a digital 3D model first. Being able to iterate on that digital model before any demolition started meant my wife and I could nail down the aesthetics and know exactly what to expect. Once construction was underway, jobsite cleanliness was great, and living through the disruption was about as tolerable as a major renovation can be. Olive Homes handled all the Folsom city permitting and inspections without too much friction on our end. Whenever unforeseen issues popped up--as they always do with major renos--they came to us proactively with solid ideas and solutions. On top of that, they actually finished on budget (slightly under budget, in fact), which is pretty rare for a project of this scale. The main downside was the timeline. The project took longer than both we and Olive Homes expected. Their primary team and main subcontractors were top-notch, but some of those main subs hired secondary subcontractors below them. That extra layer caused communication breakdowns--there were days when secondary subs didn't show up when expected, and some of their work was lower quality and had to be redone. The prime contractor was very empathetic and considerate throughout, stepping in to ensure re-works were handled properly, but those secondary sub issues definitely caused delays. At the end of the day, the finished product turned out beautifully. The craftsmanship is high quality, and we've gotten a ton of compliments from family and neighbors. We've made our final payments and expect to do our 1-year warranty checkup punch list soon, but we are genuinely very happy with our home and would recommend Olive Homes to anyone looking for a solid, honest local contractor. read more

Getting estimates is the most annoying part when starting a project. Contractors either ghost you or give you a very unreasonable estimate. Olive homes is different. Ellie, the estimator, is an amazing person. She's been so professional and willing to work with our budget unlike other contractors who just ghosted me after learning what my budget was. Even though we won't be able to move forward with the project at this time due to shifting priorities to another project, we will only consider olive homes when we are ready. Thank you Ellie! read more

After speaking with multiple contractors, we hired Olive Homes to remodel our bathroom and we're so happy we did. The team walked us through each step of the process from design to completion, making sure we were informed every step of the way. It was obvious throughout the project how much the team genuinely cares about the quality of their work. We appreciated the design support they offer. We weren't left alone to cobble together all of the many design elements and hope it turned out well. Instead, we had multiple conversations about our style and what we like in a space and were given mood boards and renderings by the team that were tweaked as we narrowed things down. The team was very mindful of the project budget throughout the duration, and provided many options for each feature to ensure we ended up with something we were happy with while sticking to the budget. From initial contact to the close of the project, the communication we received from the Olive team exceeded our expectations; not what you typically receive from a contractor. Ellie, Katie, Olga and Dee kept us up to date throughout the process and promptly answered the many questions we had along the way. They didn't hesitate to thoroughly explain even the smallest of things to make sure we understood. During the construction process, they made sure dust and debris was contained and they kept the work area tidy. If they had a question, the contractor on site would ask but otherwise, you could tell they tried to be as least disruptive as possible. The shower and floor tile turned out beautiful thanks to the amount of time and care that went into the process. In the end, we got a bathroom that not only functions well, but looks great, feels much bigger, reflects our style, and is a space we enjoy spending time in. Olive Homes made an otherwise daunting process smooth and even enjoyable. If you're looking to renovate and organization, communication and attention to detail matter to you, you can't go wrong with Olive Homes. read more

The thing that stands out most about Olive Homes is their sense of customer service. They really try to make the whole process seamless for the homeowner. Also, the construction quality is top-notch. I highly recommend them! read more

Olive homes helped us with an unanticipated partial bathroom remodel, necessitated by our stacked washer dryer (located in said bathroom) breaking. It was a fun new homeowner surprise to realize it was impossible to remove the broken machine without first removing the vanity, which was too large for the space and prevented the machine from fitting out the door. To begin the process, Ellie asked us to send photos of bathrooms we liked. I appreciated this ask because it helped me get a sense of what I like as well as communicate that to the team. They then presented us with a computer rendered design that checked all our boxes, and incorporated our style in ways I had not imagined. Olive Homes really helped us problem solve to maximize storage in our one and only tiny, very narrow bathroom. Now that the job is complete, our bathroom is much more functional with all available space thoughtfully appointed. Olive Homes helped make the best of what we have, and it looks gorgeous! I'm a landscape designer and artist, so I'm detail oriented and fairly picky about aesthetics. Ellie was patient with me and helped locate materials that satisfied me and expressed our style while remaining cohesive with the house. Ellie was able to break the tie when I couldn't decide between a few colors or styles. We also added a few items to our job along the way, and Olive Homes was very accommodating. The only reason for 4 stars is because there were some hiccups/ road blocks over the course of the job, and it ended up taking quite a bit longer than anticipated. Most of that was out of any of our control, due to long shipping delays for materials and our additions to the project. Olive homes creatively and effectively resolved all issues as they arose, and the final result is fantastic! We're very happy with how it turned out, and thankful to everyone who helped make it happen. read more

We discovered Olive Homes Inc. on Yelp while searching for someone to renovate our master bathroom. With limited knowledge of interior design and a busy work schedule, we were looking to completely outsource the project to a professional team--from design and material sourcing to the actual renovation. Working with the Olive Homes team has been an amazing experience. We simply shared a few example photos of bathrooms we liked and disliked, and the team quickly came back with a design prototype and a reasonable budget. The process was smooth and flexible, and the team managed everything efficiently without needing much input or supervision from us. The final result looks exactly like the prototype, and we couldn't be happier. We highly recommend Olive Homes Inc. to anyone considering a renovation project in the Sacramento area! read more

Absolutely loved working with Olive Homes! 10/10 would recommend them to anyone with a pulse and a Pinterest board! They handled the design and materials for my kitchen remodel, and we took on the construction ourselves (because apparently we enjoy chaos). We live out of state and I really wish we were in their service area, this project would have been finished ages ago if Ellie and her team had done it all. You know how DIY timelines go... let's just say the kitchen's still "in progress" but it looks amazing thanks to them! read more

This review is quite overdue. Ellie and her team did a complete upstairs bathroom renovation for us last Spring and Summer. When she came for the initial interview, I knew Olive homes was the contractor for me. Ellie and her team are magic. They took cues from the rest of my house and translated my ideas into a beautiful completely functional bath. I so enjoyed working with the wonderful crew. Problems inevitably arise but were handled quickly and with complete professionalism! Thank you to Olive homes and especially you Ellie for a dream come true. read more

Olive Homes helped us create an incredible ADU for our backyard. Building up from our existing detached garage, they maneuvered through the challenges of city permitting, found a series of great solutions for working off our existing footprint, and designed an incredible working and guest space within only 400 square feet. We were presented with several options for the space and were able to pick one that stayed within our budget and timeline. Things that stand out about Olive Homes are: 1) communication and 2) budget. We were in constant communication about materials, design choices, any delays (mainly from the city) and any necessary changes. I think that the amazing communication leads to meeting budget expectations -- and that's exactly what Olive Homes was able to do. Beyond the business, Ellie and Dan are wonderful people. They are in the business of building homes for people, not just houses. Simply put, they care. It was a truly great experience working with them! read more

We retired to North Carolina after living in Sacramento for 60yrs. We retained our East Sacramento rentals and were in need of a complete Bath & Kitchen on our 100 yr old rental ...but how do we approach this project being out of state? We solicited 3 bids and confidently selected Olive Homes Inc. Why? Ellie provided a Zoom bid explaining her costs and she was versed in rental real estate and keeping cost mindful. We wanted three areas as big check marks... 1) cost 2) communication 3) timely Ellie met all three bench marks. We experienced an initial productive Zoom call with estimate. Competitor bids provided only written bid! I wanted communication! Ellie, not only came at competitive bid but also had elevated taste! We were in good hands with our remodel selection and have referred many friends! read more

Olive Homes managed and completed our kitchen remodel in our 100-year-old home this year -- fabricating and installing custom cabinets as well as soapstone countertops, tile backsplash, new lighting and electrical work, new sink and plumbing, appliances, painting and floor refinishing. Ellie and her team were very good at staying in touch along the way, communicating ideas and steps throughout the project. They listened to our wishes and came up with several solutions that enhanced the finished job. Her carpenter built very attractive and sturdy cabinets (we wanted face-frame for a vintage look) and completed much of the other work on site. When issues and problems came up they responded quickly and resolved all our concerns along the way. Olive Homes is a family company and we were glad to have their friendly staff and trustworthy workers in our home throughout the project! read more

When we bought our home, the one thing I was really looking forward to was redoing the kitchen. Sometimes I just sit and admire the kitchen from afar, we are so happy with the results and would choose them all over again. read more

If I could give Ellie 10 stars instead of 5, I would! We hired Olive Homes to remodel our Lake Tahoe house and even though this was an out of town job, she took on the project without hesitation. We've remodeled our previous homes before and working with Ellie was by far the best experience we've ever had with a contractor. She's very knowledgeable about what she does and very responsible. She has held my hand from the very first step, helped with designs and material selection and overall made the whole process very easy and enjoyable. Ellie and Dan were great to work with. From the initial estimate to the final product, they were fast and responsive to my questions and needs. Its amazing how fast they got the job done. Halfway through my pregnancy I decided maybe it would be good to convert our loft space upstairs into a bedroom. It was just an idea so I started calling around to get some quotes. Most of the other contractors were too busy to even call me back or gave me some excuse that permits would take a six months to a year to do the job. The idea of the conversion came up in my head at end of February. Work started mid March. Everything was done by mid May. It would probably have been even sooner too had we not had to wait on the city for permit inspections. We also improved our laundry space. Ellie made everything so easy. She has so much knowledge and background that everything went smooth. Communication was also great too. There was a group text which kept everyone involved in the project aware of what was going on. Also, she was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. I never had to wait long. There is so much more I could probably add, but in these tiring newborn days I can't remember details. The work turned out beautiful. I will definitely be working with them again if I ever need anything done. read more

Was great working with Ellie and Olive homes to get our kitchen updated. Ellie was engaged and helped with every phase of the project; she was very collaborative in helping define the early design, worked with us on material and color selection, wasn't afraid to challenge our bad ideas :), and overcommunicated status/timelines/expected progress when the work started. She was also very supportive in meeting our expectations on several non standard/traditional items (ex automated trash cabinet) and had the capability to support a combination of custom and non custom items to help us achieve the vision while hitting our budget targets. Overall - this was a great experience, and would highly recommend working with Ellie and Olive homes on renovation needs. read more

We've lived in our home for over 20 years and decided to remodel our adjoining family room and kitchen. Our home is a lakefront property; however, a wall obstructed our view of the lake and restricted natural light from entering the room. Our kitchen was unchanged since its original construction in 1999 and had medium oak cabinets, dark Ubatuba granite countertops, canned incandescent lighting, and black appliances. We wanted to lighten things up. As part of our research for design ideas, as well as a construction company, we met Ellie Cher. Upon meeting Ellie, it became immediately apparent that she has a passion for design and appearance. She looked at our family room and kitchen as a canvas and articulated the creative possibilities. The result was an entirely new, open, bright, and beautiful new family room and kitchen. For the family room, her design consisted of pushing out the wall to enlarge the room and installing a 14-foot sliding glass door system that provided an impressive view of the lake and allowed natural light into the room. For the kitchen, her design consisted of white cabinets, white quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and new recessed LED lighting to brighten the entire kitchen. I've attached pictures of the completed project. Throughout the project, I appreciated that Ellie stayed closely involved with the construction and implementation of her concept to ensure that the project was completed to our, as well as her, satisfaction. Throughout this process, Ellie became a new and trusted friend. There are several home remodeling companies to choose from to complete a construction project; however, I think the overall success of the project is dependent on the aesthetic design and the follow-through with the construction to ensure that everyone's expectations are met. If you're ready to give your home a new look, I would highly recommend reaching out to Ellie Cher to help you with your design and construction needs. read more

This company responded to my kitchen remodel post. She was supposed to contact me back last week so she could come out and give me an estimate. It has been a week and a half since then. They apologized and scheduled a time to come out on Monday. I'll update after Monday. read more

It's taken me longer than I hoped to submit this review because I really don't feel like I can do Ellie and her team justice. I wasn't sure what to expect when hiring a contractor--at that time I had only heard horror stories of friends and family's experiences with remodels so had prepared myself for an unpleasant but necessary experience. The first few contractors I met with were pretty underwhelming. They didn't seem invested in my project, were hesitant to offer opinions, and were vague about cost and timeline. I found Ellie through yelp and was immediately impressed with her drive and her direct communication. We set up an in-home consultation, and Ellie texted to confirm our meeting the day before in addition to giving me a 15-minute heads-up before she arrived (like I said, the communication top notch). During the consultation I felt like I was talking to a designer and architect in addition to a contractor. She listened, measured everything, asked detailed and relevant questions that indicated she was thinking critically about how the future space would look and function. Soon after she provided me with an amazing digital render that both helped me visualize the future space while also indicating how clearly she understood my vision. The contract I signed was straightforward and the cost breakdown was transparent. Permitting happened way faster than I expected and required zero effort on my part. The actual demolition and construction were as painless as I could imagine. The main team members in my home were thoughtful and thorough. They were very conscientious of the rest of my house, clean, and as a bonus they were fun to be around. I was genuinely sad when construction was done because I enjoyed our banter. My project was completed within the timeline that she provided, and with final cost very close to our original estimate (only slightly over because of significant changes that I requested). I'm a pretty annoyingly detail oriented person, and definitely had strong opinions about exactly how I wanted things. Ellie and her team were always happy to make changes and pivot as necessary to make me happy. Ellie had my back, even when I was making them re-do the floor and island staining a thousand times before I was satisfied, when I was delaying the project because I couldn't decide on tile or pendant lights, and when I decided we should make all the (already finished) corners more round. She even pulled some strings with contacts she knew within the countertop industry to help get me my dream countertops even though they were out of my budget. Throughout this entire process I don't believe Ellie ever rescheduled a meeting or date. She was never late, and always communicated to me what would be happening the following days or weeks. Anytime I had a question she would answer in our group WhatsApp chat quickly if not immediately. She even set up a shared Amazon wishlist where she added various items to that she thought I would like (faucets, pendant lights, hardware, etc.) I have since recommended Ellie to everyone that will listen. When the kitchen was finished (and so beautiful!) I wasn't quite ready to be done with her and the team, so I immediately hired them to fix up my bathroom. Needless to say, I was happy with my choice. Ellie, thank you so much for making my house exactly what I envisioned, and for making the process so easy. I smile whenever I walk inside! I hope you're not sick of me because I'm going to have a hard time working with anyone else in the future. read more

I was particularly impressed with electricians, painter, and tile guys she recommended. I know a fair amount about construction, and I watch anyone I hire like a hawk.
