Olive homes helped us with an unanticipated partial bathroom remodel, necessitated by our stacked washer dryer (located in said bathroom) breaking. It was a fun new homeowner surprise to realize it was impossible to remove the broken machine without first removing the vanity, which was too large for the space and prevented the machine from fitting out the door. To begin the process, Ellie asked us to send photos of bathrooms we liked. I appreciated this ask because it helped me get a sense of what I like as well as communicate that to the team. They then presented us with a computer rendered design that checked all our boxes, and incorporated our style in ways I had not imagined. Olive Homes really helped us problem solve to maximize storage in our one and only tiny, very narrow bathroom. Now that the job is complete, our bathroom is much more functional with all available space thoughtfully appointed. Olive Homes helped make the best of what we have, and it looks gorgeous! I'm a landscape designer and artist, so I'm detail oriented and fairly picky about aesthetics. Ellie was patient with me and helped locate materials that satisfied me and expressed our style while remaining cohesive with the house. Ellie and Dan were great to work with. From the initial estimate to the final product, they were fast and responsive to my questions and needs. Its amazing how fast they got the job done. Halfway through my pregnancy I decided maybe it would be good to convert our loft space upstairs into a bedroom. It was just an idea so I started calling around to get some quotes. Most of the other contractors were too busy to even call me back or gave me some excuse that permits would take a six months to a year to do the job. The idea of the conversion came up in my head at end of February. Work started mid March. Everything was done by mid May. It would probably have been even sooner too had we not had to wait on the city for permit inspections. We also improved our laundry space. Ellie made everything so easy. She has so much knowledge and background that everything went smooth. Communication was also great too. There was a group text which kept everyone involved in the project aware of what was going on. Also, she was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. I never had to wait long. There is so much more I could probably add, but in these tiring newborn days I can't remember details. We've lived in our home for over 20 years and decided to remodel our adjoining family room and kitchen. Our home is a lakefront property; however, a wall obstructed our view of the lake and restricted natural light from entering the room. Our kitchen was unchanged since its original construction in 1999 and had medium oak cabinets, dark Ubatuba granite countertops, canned incandescent lighting, and black appliances. We wanted to lighten things up. As part of our research for design ideas, as well as a construction company, we met Ellie Cher. Upon meeting Ellie, it became immediately apparent that she has a passion for design and appearance. She looked at our family room and kitchen as a canvas and articulated the creative possibilities. The result was an entirely new, open, bright, and beautiful new family room and kitchen. For the family room, her design consisted of pushing out the wall to enlarge the room and installing a 14-foot sliding glass door system that provided an impressive view of the lake and allowed natural light into the room. It's taken me longer than I hoped to submit this review because I really don't feel like I can do Ellie and her team justice. I wasn't sure what to expect when hiring a contractor--at that time I had only heard horror stories of friends and family's experiences with remodels so had prepared myself for an unpleasant but necessary experience. The first few contractors I met with were pretty underwhelming. They didn't seem invested in my project, were hesitant to offer opinions, and were vague about cost and timeline. I found Ellie through yelp and was immediately impressed with her drive and her direct communication. We set up an in-home consultation, and Ellie texted to confirm our meeting the day before in addition to giving me a 15-minute heads-up before she arrived (like I said, the communication top notch). During the consultation I felt like I was talking to a designer and architect in addition to a contractor. She listened, measured everything, asked detailed and relevant questions that indicated she was thinking critically about how the future space would look and function. Soon after she provided me with an amazing digital render that both helped me visualize the future space while also indicating how clearly she understood my vision. The contract I signed was straightforward and the cost breakdown was transparent. Permitting happened way faster than I expected and required zero effort on my part. The actual demolition and construction were as painless as I could imagine. The main team members in my home were thoughtful and thorough. They were very conscientious of the rest of my house, clean, and as a bonus they were fun to be around. I was genuinely sad when construction was done because I enjoyed our banter. My project was completed within the timeline that she provided, and with final cost very close to our original estimate (only slightly over because of significant changes that I requested). I'm a pretty annoyingly detail oriented person, and definitely had strong opinions about exactly how I wanted things. Ellie and her team were always happy to make changes and pivot as necessary to make me happy. Ellie had my back, even when I was making them re-do the floor and island staining a thousand times before I was satisfied, when I was delaying the project because I couldn't decide on tile or pendant lights, and when I decided we should make all the (already finished) corners more round. She even pulled some strings with contacts she knew within the countertop industry to help get me my dream countertops even though they were out of my budget. Throughout this entire process I don't believe Ellie ever rescheduled a meeting or date. She was never late, and always communicated to me what would be happening the following days or weeks. Anytime I had a question she would answer in our group WhatsApp chat quickly if not immediately. She even set up a shared Amazon wishlist where she added various items to that she thought I would like (faucets, pendant lights, hardware, etc.) I have since recommended Ellie to everyone that will listen. When the kitchen was finished (and so beautiful!) I wasn't quite ready to be done with her and the team, so I immediately hired them to fix up my bathroom.
