However, this review focuses on my experience with interior demo work--specifically, a partial wall demo in our home. Overall, the project was completed as promised, and the results are good. We needed a wall removed to open up our space, and I was told that while WSC mainly advertises as more of an outside/siding work business, they can without a doubt take care of what I needed and was assured the work would be professional and look as if the wall was never there. They went through a lot of dedication to achieve this, despite our discontinued flooring requiring them to pull up and reuse flooring from another area of the home (our primary bedroom). They made sure that area was properly restored, understandably at an additional cost. That said, I feel there was a lack of attention to detail in many aspects of the work. While most issues I raised were eventually addressed, I reached a point where I didn't feel it should be my responsibility to catch and report quality issues. These included: * Poor wall texture in some areas. * Paint that didn't match. * Dings in the wall that were either left as-is or patched sloppily with silicone. * An outlet that does not sit flush against the wall. * A noticeable line on the wall where the paint job was stopped abruptly. I will add that the splotchy paint job on the baseboards was partly due to me providing the wrong paint can when worker B asked for it, as I recall being informed by worker A that it was that can of paint. However, when I eventually called to address my concerns about the mismatched paint, the response I received by worker B was that he is "not a professional painter." I found this response unprofessional, especially considering I was paying for a professional job. It also felt like there was a lack of experience overall given the young age of most of the workers. Even guests have pointed out imperfections, and when I showed the work to a coworker with a background in general contracting, she was appalled by the quality--especially considering this was done by a professional company. I understand that with reno jobs, there is coordination to be done with multiple specialists (demo, drywall, texture, electrical) and they may come from diff companies, but the work performed by these contractors reflects directly on WSC and their standards. Additionally, I was told I would receive a closing form summarizing the warranty for their work via email, but I never received it --even though the job was completed summer of '24, around July or August. On the positive side, the space has improved significantly. The wall is no longer an issue, and the home feels more open and functional. However, the lack of attention to detail left us with several things to fix on our own, despite paying thousands for the project. While WSC seems to excel in siding (as reflected in their reviews), I would recommend looking elsewhere for interior renovation work if attention to detail is important to you.

He listened when we explained what we wanted to repair, respectfully made recommendations, walked around the entire house to make sure all repair spots were noted. Their quote was reasonable and included siding and paint. Ivan answered all my questions regarding roof tiles and what would happen if the damage extended beyond the siding. They scheduled the work to start the very next day and Alex and David were on time and friendly. David introduced himself and Alex, and they answered multiple questions I had while they worked. The work itself was top quality. They were careful when removing the old siding to not disturb other parts of the house. They installed the new siding and sealed every joint and nail head before painting. The paint matches perfectly. And they did it all in two days! After they were done they took special care to clean up, picking up every scrap of debris. I've never had contractors clean up after themselves so well. It shows they really care about their customers. I would use Cali Siding and Windows again in a heartbeat.

I met with Kurt for the initial estimate and he was great in pointing out the kind of work that needed to be done and took the time to answer all of my questions. Once I made the decision to go with 3 Generations, I started working with Jeremy who went the extra mile to meet me at my work to sign the paperwork and select the type of siding for the house. We signed the paperwork in the late Fall, which is a busy time for them but Jeremy was always up front with their estimated timing, which I really appreciated. Once the work started, the job was completed pretty quickly. Again, Jeremy and his crew were very communicative and kept me updated on the status of the work until it was done. They also fixed some plywood dry rot and installed new plywood as well as correcting some roof deck problems in addition to all of the siding replacement. I've included some pictures the old siding, which was cracked and loose as well some pictures of the new siding to show the improvement. From my experience, I would recommend 3 Generations Improvements for any siding or repair work you may need!

From the beginning, he was knowledgeable, informative, and took the time to explain the scope of the project and the costs involved. We were getting quotes from several other companies, so California Energy was not automatically going to get the job. What really stood out happened later that evening when Phil, the owner, personally reached out to ask about my experience and make sure my questions had been answered, whether we decided to move forward with his company or not. Coming from an HVAC sales background myself, that immediately impressed me. I have always appreciated working with family-owned businesses, and having the owner personally follow up showed a level of involvement and accountability you do not always see. Phil and I ended up talking for a while, and I mentioned that I was also collecting bids for a complete roof replacement. I had already met with six roofing companies, but after my experience with Mitch and Phil, I figured, why not get one more estimate? Ultimately, we hired California Energy for both the insulation project and the roof replacement. This turned into a very extensive project because we had multiple other projects and contractors working at our home at the same time. California Energy has been extremely accommodating and willing to work around scheduling changes, other trades, and unexpected issues along the way. Jamie has been the project manager throughout this entire process, and I really have to give him credit for keeping everything moving. He has essentially been shuffling all the pieces around while coordinating with the other work happening at our property, making sure California Energy's portion stayed on track and that my concerns and needs were addressed. With this many moving parts, that has not been easy, and I genuinely appreciate the effort he has put into coordinating everything. I have also worked briefly with Tony, another project manager, and he has been amazing as well. Even in the limited time I have worked with him, he has been responsive, helpful, and willing to jump in where needed. John and Oscar handled the roofing work and have been excellent to work with. They have been professional, responsive, and willing to address details as they came up. The roof is now complete, and the old attic insulation has been removed. We are currently waiting for some electrical work to be finished before the new insulation is blown back in. I also have to give a special shout-out to Jose. While working at our home, he identified a pre-existing issue with our HVAC system that could have turned into a very expensive repair down the road. He did not simply point it out and move on. He advocated for us, communicated with our existing HVAC contractor, and helped everyone work together to determine what was actually happening. That process ultimately revealed that the two-year-old HVAC unit installed on our roof was defective. Because Jose was thorough enough to recognize that something was wrong and persistent enough to help get it properly investigated, our HVAC company is now replacing the defective unit. That could have been a completely different situation had he not caught it. Thank you, Jose. With a project this large and this many moving parts, I do not expect everything to go perfectly. What matters to me is how a company responds when something does come up. Whenever I have brought a legitimate concern to California Energy's attention, they have acknowledged it and worked to correct it rather than ignoring it. That says a lot to me. We still have a few minor items for California Energy to finish, along with blowing the new insulation back into the attic once the electrical work is complete. I plan to update this review once everything is officially finished, but based on my experience so far, they have earned an A+ from me. The fact that I can remember so many employees by name, including Mitch, Phil, Jamie, Tony, John, Oscar, and Jose, probably says more than anything else I could write. Each one of them has made enough of an impression that I know exactly who they are and what role they have played throughout this project. To me, that speaks volumes about the connection this team makes with its customers and the amount of work everyone has put into getting the job done right. I cannot speak to what customer service will look like years down the road, but based on what I have experienced throughout a complicated and constantly evolving project, I feel very comfortable with the company we chose. If the rest of the team continues to follow the example Phil sets as an owner, I have no concerns. Their communication, accountability, flexibility, and willingness to address problems have made a stressful home project much easier to manage.

The negatives: a broken sprinkler, poor communication about permitting. Overall, we are very happy with the windows themselves. I wish the other details had been a little better, but big picture is that we are happy with the three contractors who spent all day in the sun and yet just powered through, not sacrificing quality work. Communication improved later, and we can already tell that these windows are better at keeping heat out than the old ones.

It was pretty confusing to decide which brand windows to install. Do we do Simonton, Milgard, Renewal, Andersen, Pella, etc? Did some online research and reading and decided to go with Anlin Windows because they had the best warranty, technology and quality that we were happy with. Went to Anlin's website and looked for their lists of dealers/installers that were close to us. Got a few quotes that were pretty comparable. Then one weekend, I contacted Good News on Yelp. Didn't think anyone would respond on a weekend but was surprised when Lon replied back. We set up a time to meet the next day. On the scheduled day and time, Lon showed up. He was very knowledgeable and we really liked what we heard about the company. I like how the company gives a portion of their proceeds to help people (see their website for more details). We liked Lon so much that we actually signed a contract with him that same day. (Usually we like to wait a few days and compare quotes) A couple days later, Etta at the office (cool name!) called us to schedule a day for installation a few weeks out. On the day of our installation, Brian and Serge showed up on the scheduled time and worked diligently the entire day. At the end of the day, I think they must have polished the glass or something because the windows looked amazing! My husband jokes that we now have 4K windows because they just look so great! We only did a portion of our windows because window replacement can be pricey. We will definitely have Good News HI to install the rest when the time comes. We told our friend about Good News recently and he also had them come out to do his windows. Highly recommend Good News if you're needing new windows! Previous Experience: We hired DL Design Construction last…read moreyear to completely renovate the exterior of our home with James Hardie siding, including windows, light fixtures, and all new electrical with an all new panel. Dimitry and his team exceeded our expectations so much so that we rehired them to build us not one, but two storage sheds. But did they really build us the storage sheds we wanted? Why Rehire? We had one previous storage shed. You know the one that everyone has. The so called Tuff Shed, in reality wasn't so tuff. It was falling apart. It was seated on cinder blocks that weren't stable or sturdy. There were gaps in between the doors and we wanted something more secure and airtight from dust and critters. Especially the smell. You know what i'm talking about if you've had one. We also wanted something more purposeful, and something that would have longevity. So we shopped around looking at Tuff Sheds from Home Depot & Lowes, but quickly realized that they were similar to what we all ready had just with a bit more bandages. We knew within a very short period of time these sheds were going to fail miserably from their design and cheap building material. So we picked up the phone and called Dimitry at DL Design who we TRUST. The Build: After discussing our requests with Dimitry his team went to work. Heres a brief breakdown of the work they did: They tore down the old shed, poured two concrete pads including a walkway leading up to the shed (that we just love). They anchored the shed down to the strong concrete pad, which practically made it tornado proof. They built the frame with precision and excellent craftsmanship. Insulated it so i can store more temperature regulated items. They sheathed the frame with plywood on the exterior as well as the interior. Then wrapped it with a water barrier paper. They installed several windows to help control temperature and bring in natural lighting. They installed a sturdy door with lock and key, which helped secure it, as well as prevent dust and insects from entering in. Unlike the prefab ones that have gaps and fall apart due to water intrusion and warping from sunlight. They finished the inside & outside with the best siding material out on the market, the James Hardie fiber cement siding. They also painted it from inside and outside with high quality paint. And not to fail to mention they installed electrical with an interior ceiling light and 3 outlets. You thought I was done, but i'm not. They also installed 3 custom gutters to help direct water away from the structures. The Upside: With these two new "sheds" we can utilize this space for so many purposes such as a new office space or even a gym. We can store things in there that we could never store in any new prefab shed out there. Such as food as an extra pantry, clothing such a transferring winter wardrobe from summer wardrobe. Storing blankets, towels, bed sheets, and not worry about things smelling like it came out of a shed. We no longer need to worry about bugs or critters getting to our valuables or moving in underneath the crawlspace making a din, since the "shed" is sealed airtight from all around. Why Hire DL Design Construction? Why I love to hire DL Design Construction? Because Dimitry is a great contractor. He combines technical expertise with, honesty, effective communication, and strong organization to deliver on time and within budget. He provided me with all the details, he's transparent, he provides written estimates, he managed subcontractors effectively, he's keen on keeping the job site tidy. He works hard on maintaining clear communication throughout the project. I am so thankful to the work his team has done to our property. Their craftsmanship is excellent. With each board cut to precision, and every nail driven in the correct position. They have exceeded our expectations yet again. So did they really build us a "shed"? No, they built for us something that exceeded our expectations in every way. Only Hire Reputable Sources: DL Design Construction has a solid reputation anyone should trust. This was my second time hiring them and they exceeded all expectations. They have a team of honest individuals about their capabilities and project timelines. They listen to your needs and answer questions promptly, and maintain regular, transparent updates. They offer detailed written estimates create realistic schedules, and ensure the job site is safe and organized. They have proven experience strong project management skills, and a network of reliable subcontractors. They are proactive, adaptable, and see challenges as opportunities for solutions, ensuring the project stays on track. They take pride in their work, focusing on high-quality results rather than just cutting corners, and are always showing enthusiasm for the project.
