So disappointed they dropped the fried green tomatoes from the menu. Prices are reasonable, especially for spirits and beer. We started with the chicken fried quail tenders, which had a fantastic dipping sauce with them. For entrées, we had the New York strip chicken fried steak and the steak frites. I wasn't crazy about the chicken fried steak as it was a ton of batter and a very thin, thin piece of steak inside. I don't think I would order it again. The mashed potatoes and green beans and jalapeño gravy were very good though. My friend enjoyed the steak frites.

We ordered deviled eggs and pork belly lollipop. Our server said to add pork belly on top of the egg and wow was she right, it was so delicious. I'm not typically a fan of pork belly, but the pork belly lollipop was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I ordered the roasted chicken dish which came with mashed potatoes and green beans which were all delicious. I'm not usually a leftovers kind of gal, but I brought home my chicken dish leftovers and ate it for lunch the next day. I will definitely be back here and soon (especially for those deviled eggs).

My wife and I met a dear friend from North Dallas for a late lunch at Renny's. We had heard so many…read morewonderful things about the restaurant and were eager to try it for ourselves. Just as exciting was the opportunity to spend time with our friend and catch up. Since it was well past the lunch rush, Renny's was pleasantly quiet. We were seated immediately and settled comfortably at our table while waiting for our friend to arrive. Our server, Carlos, greeted us warmly and asked if it was our first time dining at Renny's. We assured him it wasn't. We started with a couple of glasses of their incredible iced tea, a special blend called Apricot Chardonnay. It's delightful. In fact, the restaurant sells it in the bag, and we always take one home with us. Our friend arrived just in time to look over the menu. With so many tempting choices, deciding wasn't easy. My wife, a devoted chicken salad sandwich fan, chose the chicken salad sandwich, and our friend quickly followed suit. I ordered the Friday lunch special: fried cod and fries with a side of jalapeño-infused coleslaw. During our visit, Kim, the manager, stopped by to introduce herself. She was incredibly personable and made us feel right at home. As we enjoyed our iced tea and caught up on all the latest news and gossip, Carlos arrived with our entrees. I sampled the chicken salad and can confirm that it is outstanding. The seasoning and mayonnaise are blended perfectly. My fried cod and fries looked picture-perfect. Carlos asked if I wanted malt vinegar, and my response was an enthusiastic "Of course!" Fish and chips just aren't complete without it. What a fantastic lunch we had. The ladies were all smiles and declared themselves happily satisfied. My fish and chips were among the best I've ever had. The cod was fried to perfection: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. In a few months, we'll be traveling to Alaska, where there's supposedly a restaurant that serves the best fried cod anywhere. I'm willing to bet that Renny's cod would give them some serious competition. It was phenomenal. The fries were excellent, and the jalapeño coleslaw added the perfect touch. Even though we probably shouldn't have, we couldn't resist ordering dessert. I chose the Crème Brûlée, while the ladies shared an apple tart. The Crème Brûlée was incredible, especially paired with a cup of black coffee. They kindly gave me a taste of the apple tart, and all I can say is wow. The apple slices were cut paper-thin, likely with mandoline, and the puff pastry was baked to perfection. All in all, it was a stellar visit to Renny's. If it weren't so far from home, we would undoubtedly become weekly regulars. A special thank you to Carlos for his attentive, friendly service and to the entire team for making our lunch so memorable.

We dined here on a Saturday evening and it was a good meal, but there are a few things holding the…read moreexperience back from a five-star rating. I had booked a reservation on Resy and we were seated immediately in a small, intimate booth. Initially, it was not terribly loud, but as the evening progressed and several large parties were seated nearby; the sound of the music was completely drowned out. I think more noise abatement measures could be taken to absorb some of the obtrusive loudness we were getting. For a starter, we ordered the Calamari. It was fried perfectly and was great, but the Thai Sticky sauce was too sweet and the consistency of the sauce was thin. It needed something to make it more viscous, and a secondary sauce, like a marinara or even an aioli would've been nice to balance out the sweetness of the Thai sauce. For an entree, I ordered the Maple- Ginger Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and itself was delicious, but the sauce was too sweet and rich. The fired rice that accompanied my meal was over-the-top salty. It was almost going into "too much" territory. For desert we split the Passion Fruit Ice Cream Pie. This was actually very good and not overly sweet. It was my favorite item from my meal. Overall Renny's truly employs a lot of care and attention to the food, but some of the items crossed a line into "too much" territory. Be it sweetness or saltiness, the kitchen could exercise a bit of restraint to let the flavors of the food shine.

We had the deviled eggs and lump crab cakes to start, and both were SO good. Prices were great too. Our waitress, Staci (or Stacy), was AMAZING. Sweet, funny, great at banter, and incredibly attentive. Even when she was busy, she never made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. When she was at our table, we had her full attention, she checked on us the perfect amount, and we never had to ask for anything twice. She was on top of her game! My only complaint was a really awkward interaction at the end. I wanted to ask Staci two simple questions: whether they carried an olive gin I'd had in Europe (they didn't, but I haven't found it anywhere) and whether I could buy a roll of quarters because we were going to play pool. Somehow this turned into 5-6 staff members gathering around, plus this random blonde lady in a white T-shirt and jeans joining the conversation. Aside from Staci and the blonde lady, no one else even acknowledged me. They just stood there looking at me. It was weird. It felt like a lot of unnecessary attention over two simple questions and made me pretty uncomfortable. Having another customer involved was honestly the weirdest part. It was disappointing because we'd had such a great experience up until then. I went from thinking, "I need to bring my friends here!" to leaving feeling pretty unwelcome. Food: delicious. Atmosphere: beautiful. Prices: great. Staci: WONDERFUL. I just wish the interaction at the end had matched the rest of the experience. I changed my rating from two stars to four stars because I didn't feel like one bad interaction was worth two stars and I was a little flustered when I originally wrote my review.

The several times that I have been there or just to the Cinema portion, the Glass Half Full Taproom has been pretty slow. Like not even Half Full kind of busy... The service is usually pretty decent, but once again that has mainly been when they are not very busy. They usually don't have many people on staff so if they do get busy, it is going to affect you speed of your service. That can sometimes be detrimental if you are grabbing a beer before catching a movie. Selection is not an issue here. They have 32 beers on tap here, so your biggest issue if you are like me, is just making a decision. My typical go-to; Deep Ellum Dallas Blonde. Ambiance-wise it is a beer room. There is usually kind of a low key vibe to the place. It's a mellow place to grab a mellow brew!

Love the art deco mermaid pins the female staff wore, plus other unique thought out accoutrements. We like to share plates and loved everything we had! The oysters, burrata, smoked clam chowder, yellowtail curd, smoked salmon dip with homemade potato chips, and the fried cod, frites and Cole slaw. Some of us had cocktails- all great, then we all switched to wine, then finished with espresso martini and amazing dessert. He checked in with us throughout the meal to make sure everything tasted good, offered to cut our hand rolls in half so we could share, and even gave us a salmon belly on the house. Black Cod Nigiri ($6): Best bite of the night and it was on the seasonal menu. It was cooked and I'm not sure what they did to it, but it was absolutely phenomenal. Salmon Truffle Ponzu ($18): My second favorite dish of the night. The salmon was super fresh and the truffle ponzu elevated the whole thing. Scallop Foie Gras ($24): Beautiful presentation and good but surprisingly not as flavorful as the salmon truffle ponzu. I was expecting more umami from the foie gras. Salmon Belly Toro Nigiri ($16): Salmon belly with fatty toro topped with ikura. Delicious and melts in your mouth. Toro Wagyu Uni Nigiri ($22): Fatty tuna, A5 wagyu beef, and uni nigiri. My husband thought it was fun to eat, but said he would not order it again. Nodoguro Nigiri ($13): I looked this up, and it's apparently a rare high end deep sea fish from Japan known as the toro of white fish. Based purely on taste though, I thought it was okay and did not compare to the salmon belly. Kanpachi Cherry Blossom ($6.50): A pretty rosy pink color with a subtle cherry blossom flavor. Okay in terms of taste compared to the other fishes we had. Ami Ebi Nigiri ($10): The sweet shrimp was a bit too raw for me. Crab Uni Butter Nigiri ($12): I did not really taste the difference between the uni infused butter and regular butter so I am not sure it is worth the price, though it was still good. Snow Crab Handroll ($7): So much better than imitation crab. Recommend out of all the handrolls we tried. Eel Handroll ($7.50): Not my favorite but my husband said it was one of the best eel he has ever had. Lobster Handroll ($12): Good but nothing special. Volcano Roll ($28): This took the longest to make and was the last item we received even though we saw them start preparing it at the beginning of the meal. The presentation was beautiful and Jayden even sprayed gold on it for our photo and video. It comes with snow crab, avocado, lobster, and bay scallop topped with eel sauce and was really yummy with lots of seafood. The only downside was that the roll underneath broke apart easily which made it hard to eat. Fresh Wasabi Root ($10): We watched them grind the wasabi fresh which was cool to see. It doesn't have a kick to it though so I wouldn't order it again since I like a tiny bit of spiciness. Matcha Mojito ($15): Not for me. It had a bit too much club soda. Yuzu Saketini ($15): I liked this one more than the matcha mojito. The yuzu flavor was prominent and it kind of reminded me of a Lemon Drop.
