If I could rate 10/10 I would. I had the most incredible experience recently. I was invited to a 12 course dinner and having not been here before, wasn't quite sure what I was in for, however, I was beyond blown away and impressed with everything from presentation, to taste to ambaince etc. It was amazing. I tried 11 dishes that weren't sushi. Yoshitomo is so much more than sushi. Some of the standouts for me: the sea weed salad, a great way to start. The megami, was so fresh and the apple in the romaine was so unexpected. The Hama toast is a must order, yellowtail with brown butter on sourdough, omg. The Kani Miso might be my overall favorite, with the snow crab and crab fat, I could eat that al day. Many dishes were raw, which I've never tried, but I actually enjoyed. The Bite featuring waygu and caviar, a real show stopper. There were more dishes, but we ended with the sushi, and foienagi, just outstanding. There are countless reasons why this is an incredible, bucket list destination in Omaha. For a special occasion, or just because, I highly encourage making a reservation at Yoshitomo sooner than later. read more

Great ambiance some amazing sushi. Some was not great but very well done and others loved it. Service was great.

My friend and I had a wonderful dinner here. We had a reservation so we got seated after a short wait. We loved the decor and lights pointing done on the tables, like spotlights on the food! We wanted to try the house made whiskey but they were sadly out so I hope to come back and try it. Our favorite bite was the 72 hour wagyu short rib Baraniku. So Smokey and delicate and delicious! This was one of my favorite sushi experiences for sure. read more

Update to my review, since I've had it multiple times since. I've since tried the nigiri and sashimi, and both are delicious. My first few visits may have just been beginners (bad) luck? Who knows, maybe I was in a bad mood. Regardless, the sushi here is top notch, and I definitely recommend dining in here (sit at the sushi bar!). read more

I went to this restaurant with my mom and we both ordered two rolls and I had one beer. Before tax the bill was about $80. I live in Japan for about five years, and got spoiled with the quality of sashimi. One of my friends recommended this place, and it blew me away. I don't travel to Omaha very often, but whenever I do, I try to make a stop here. Well worth prioritizing in my schedule read more

Yoshitomo has become my favorite sushi spot in Omaha. The sushi does not come with goop and sauces, you won't even find soy sauce on the table as chef focuses on the wonderful natural flavor of the fish and simple enhancements such as lemon, sea salt or truffle. Everything I have sampled has been top notch, the creativity of the flavor combinations continue to blow my mind. Keep up the great work. read more

Everything had layers of flavor, delightful interactions of texture, and spectacular presentation! Service was very professional while retaining delightful and playful interaction. Very cozy settings of smaller tables and not too much open space. The lush use of wood provided a warm atmosphere in an otherwise minimal environment. We will be back! read more

This might actually be the best sushi I've ever had in my life. Oh my goodness. A friend recommended it and I am so glad we stopped over. Menu is shorter than the sushi places that I'm used to, but has a lot of variety and I challenged myself to get anything other than rolls and was SO pleased. Everything was delicious. We split all of the small plates. Cute sushi bar to sit at or ample seating. Honestly I'm not sure what else I can say. Wow wow wow. We are visiting our daughter in Omaha and read about this place in the Washington Post. Had no trouble getting a table or a parking spot at lunch on a Thursday. We had a great server who steered us in some interesting directions. We had the Oni Egg which all diners must try! We had the yaki gindara, the Hama toast, the jamachi and two rolls-the kkhaleesi and the Osaka. A feast for two at lunch but portions are just right-the focus is on the flavor and not overwhelming you with tons of food. Fish is sourced from Tokyo and it is so fresh. Hard to choose a favorite but the Osaka roll is possibly my favorite-but the jamachi was also to die for. Really I would order everything I had again. I could have stayed all afternoon and kept exploring the menu. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. It should be on everyone's bucket list. read more

Yoshitomo is our go-to sushi spot. We've been countless times and we're consistently impressed by not only the service, but the menu as well! We have done the omakase a few times as well as dined in relatively often. When we go, we stay within the bites and small plates for the most part but their rolls are also great if that's more your thing - but I highly recommend checking any preconceived notions about sushi at the door because your mind will be blown here. This is an incredible spot that is well worth every penny... and in Omaha of all places. Truly amazing experience each time we go; I hope they continue to be recognized for their incredible work here (looking at you, Michelin and James Beard Foundation!). Thank you for all that you bring to the Omaha food scene! read more

Unbelievable. Anything less than 5 stars is laughable. This is an experience not a meal. And for a place like ohama Nebraska I was beyond impressed. I travel for work and have lived in LA and other coastal cities and have never experienced this level of sushi for this price. Every dish is balanced with sweet, salty, acidic and fish. The staff and culinary experience made my whole day. I had no idea I was waking into this type of restaurant. I only have 3 days here and I plan to come back to eat my way through the entire menu. read more

Food: MmmmmmMmmmMm.... SooooOooOo flavorful!!! I've only tried a couple sushi places, but this sushi was LIFE-CHANGING in my perspective. The umami flavor from the sushi nearing the back of the photo busted my flavor palette into thousands of fragmented pieces. It was just everything. Service: The service was professional, but still very friendly and comforting. Quick with drinks and fast with the tab. Ambiance: The ambiance was indifferent, I'm not really sure how to explain it. The sushi was made in front of us at the bar seating, but it was just a little awkward because someone was training him while he was making it for us. It brought in that real aspect though. Tips: Make a reservation, because the restaurant is very small read more

We had a bigger group so we had a separate room with one other table in it to ourselves, so it was pretty cozy for my party and I. Our server was nice and pretty attentive, even though we were separate from the main dining room. My table ordered a variety of nigiri: mackerel saba, sea bream madai, salmon sake, yellowtail hamachi, chutoro and toro tuna belly, all which were very fresh! We also got a variety of rolls: rodeo, simba, rangucci, and royale, with the rodeo and simba being our favorite! We also got a couple of bites: foienagi, aburi wagyu, and abura miso. The foienagi was my favorite as the eel was perfectly grilled with a complementary sweetness from the cherry boshi. We also got the seaweed salad and onion egg to start with. The oni egg was super creamy and delicious! read more

This is the best sushi I've ever had. I always want to try something new. I went with a group and we all decided to order 2-3 items and share. My favorites were the rodeo, Royale, and the simba! Yoshitomo is hands down one of the best restaurants in Omaha and best sushi bar none. We visited for my wife's birthday as Yoshitomo & Kogi are her favorite. The experience did not disappoint. Hama toast is a must and to me the best item on the menu. The slightly crunch and butteriness of the house sourdough blends perfectly with the hamachi. The jamachi was a new dish, the last iteration of it I had featured scallops with everything else the same, it was very good but I think the scallop dish was better. The Saigon roll is great but the sauce is the real star there. The Ssam was a good execution of the Korean dish but for the price better off sticking to getting it at a Korean spot and getting more bang for your buck. As always a real treat. Maybe one day I'll be able to snag a reservation at Ota their Omakase dining experience. read more

Yoshitomo - Saigon - Sushi Bars Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

Found out about Yoshitomo from the article in the Washington Post and decided to check out the hype. I drove up to Omaha from Kansas City as there is not much of a sushi scene in the KC area after Bob Wasabi Kitchen closed down. I ordered a variety of nigiri to test the waters as the tuna, sea urchin, and mackerel definitely stood out. The tuna was lean and had a clean finish, while the sea urchin was creamy and very fresh as it tasted like it just came out of the sea. This would be a similar level found at high-end Japanese/Omakase restaurants on the west/east coast. The saba (mackerel) nigiri was also excellent as it had just the right amount of marinade with the prep involved. There is a wide variety of fish that you wouldn't see at other sushi restaurants in the area such as madai (sea bream), kanpachi (amberjack), shima aji (striped jack), iwashi (sardine), and hotaru ika (firefly squid). It is impressive to see that they source a lot of their fish from the Toyosu market in Tokyo, and to have this available in the Midwest is a unique aspect. Interior décor is modern/contemporary with a dark dim lighting throughout the dining area. There is a sleek dry aging cabinet they put on prominent display at the front of the restaurant to showcase special fish from Japan. I sat at the bar and it provided an entertaining view of all the chefs making the various courses for all the diners. The menu outside of the nigiri is like reading a menu from the Cheesecake Factory as there are over 30 choices of various plates, rolls, and bites to choose from. The drink list is also extensive as it is literally a separate booklet with a wide variety of Japanese beer such as Koshihikari Echigo and high-end sake's such as Dassai 23 and Dassai Beyond. The kani miso with snowcrab was mentioned as one of the more popular dishes as I will aim to try that next time. I tried the tako macha and it was thinly sliced octopus with a thick salsa-like sauce spread around in the fashion of a pizza. It was a fusion type dish mix of Italian-Japanese and was an interesting dish. Bringing a date here or with a group of people will surely be fitting for a special occasion. The ambiance was quiet yet relaxing, fine-dining atmosphere without the pretentiousness. Service was top-notch as the waitstaff and chefs were all knowledgeable and approachable, everything from beginning to end was a seamless experience. With the seating layout they are able to easily accommodate a wide variety of crowds whether it is for 1 or 10. Parking is a bit of a challenge in Benson as going there on a busy weekend took about 30 minutes to find parking while circling around the whole area when I was lucky enough to find an open spot on the street. A shortcut option would be to park in the residential outskirts and walk a few blocks. I would highly suggest taking an Uber if at all possible or else brave the crazy local traffic to fight for a spot. Overall it was a wonderful experience, and quite surprising to see the pristine quality in the nigiri and dishes for being in the Midwest. If looking for a fine-dining high tier Japanese restaurant in Omaha, this is a nice gem, you won't find anything else like it in a 400 mile radius. read more

We absolutely LOVE Yoshitomo. Generally we have to book reservations for any time after 4pm, however when going for a later lunch or lunch you can find seating at the sushi bar or a regular dining table. We personally love the sushi bar because we enjoy talking with the chefs and watching them create these magnificent dishes. Our overall favorite meals are the uni eggs- the Japanese potato salad is absolutely AMAZING. We also love the Aburi Wagyu which has an amazing sea urchin butter that is topped on it that really compliments the meat well. We also enjoy the simba roll along with the Go-San. Overall this restaurant is a "get what you pay for" situation. The quality and freshness of the food is top notch. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is inviting and intimate with an upscale feel. Lastly, the overall staff are wonderful and highly educated on the menu along with the little details of what goes in to each dish. Could not recommend more! read more

We are in Omaha from Chicago for the holidays and four of us went to Yoshitomo for dinner due to its high rating. The rating is clearly undeserved. Allow me to explain. The service was subpar. The waitress kept forgetting what we asked. My wife asked for a sample of a draft beer, she brought us a pint. She then came back to the table twice to reconfirm details of our order and kept getting it wrong, even though she had ostensibly written it down. The weirdest part is that both our server and another lady that came to our table told us that they refuse to make any modifications to their dishes. So if you like the idea of a particular sushi roll, but don't want mayonnaise, dried fish shavings, or jalapeños on it, you're out of luck. So for example they serve octopus but wouldn't serve octopus sashimi. They serve tuna and make rolls, but wouldn't make a tuna kappa roll. At one point I asked for soy sauce and wasabi and did eventually get it, but only after a lecture on how their rolls were made with all of the seasonings that are needed, and therefore they don't serve it with soy or wasabi because it's unnecessary. WTF?! How arrogant. There is literally no accounting for taste. Now, as a hobbyist chef, and someone who has lived in Japan and eaten hundreds of pounds of sushi, sashimi, and maki, I have rarely experienced such arrogance by a chef and the waitstaff. My experience of Japanese restaurants as indicative of Japanese culture is that they are very differential to what the client wants. And the rolls were good, but certainly not phenomenal. Ingredients like mayonnaise and dried Bonito were distractions on otherwise tasty rolls with exceptionally fresh fish. An important note of compliment was their seaweed salad. I have had to sell it hundreds of times and have never tasted one that was so fresh and interesting. The umami was built with seaweed that I have not seen in any American sushi restaurant. The addition of chili flakes balance, the brine. It was genuinely delightful. The other positive note was the tuna. It really was some of the best tuna I've had in probably the last 10 years or so. Deep, red and color, trimmed perfectly, impeccably fresh. Mind you were in Omaha in the middle of the country. The freshness of all of the fish was really quite impressive. They could easily be a 4.5 star restaurant, if they had good service, created a flexible menu, and treated their clients with some deference. Simplify. Your fish is phenomenal. It doesn't need mayonnaise or jalapeno. read more

A horrible experience. No reservations available so I call to check. I spend 5 minutes on the phone and he says he has reservations available at 7:45. Too late for us. Do you have walk-in spots? Yes we set aside some spots for walk-in by the bar. If you come around 5 pm you would have a chance to walk in. We show up at 5:20 pm, can we walk in? Sorry we only have 3 seats so we can seat you at 7:45pm. 3 seats? I spent 5 minutes talking to him, never mentioned there were only 3 seats. I wasted 50 minutes of driving. Came for a fun dinner. It's a very quaint place & a reservation is a must. Everything we ate was distinctly thought out, and no old school sushi here. Well for the most part. We tried all kinds of things oysters with various combinations which was interesting, brown butter sourdough with ? Was great, crab & roe fried rice - fantastic, the spicy salmon was great and the spam roll was mm interesting. Personally it was very eclectic with maybe a little to much going on. However it was very tastee and our waitress was good. The people throwing down the plates and not telling you what was delivered was off putting to say the least. We'd have to flag out very busy waitress down to tell us what we were eating, which most of the time we already ate it before she got back to us. Would I go back... maybe - probably go try another sushi place. Because sometimes out of the norm you want a bit of simplicity. read more

The small plates and chef's selection of nigiri were phenomenal. Wish I had skipped getting a roll and tried a few more small plates. I sat at the sushi bar and each of the chefs were lovely. read more

From the moment we stepped in for our early Saturday dinner, we experienced lovely and caring service. We chose to sit at the bar since we enjoy watching the sushi chefs. We watched them prepare fresh wasabi, torch rolls... oh man, those chefs were so great. There was a party of nine in the other room, so we got to watch the chefs talk about the timing and basically orchestrate the entire restaurants, balancing those in a hurry with those of us just enjoying our date and the big table. The star of the experience though... is the food. So amazing. We have had sushi in NYC, SF, Vegas, and a ton of cities in between. Yoshitomo didn't disappoint.
